Screamed a tall black insect like creature. "How did Twilight Sparkle turn them against me Queen Chrysalis." the creature continued ranting. "Queen Chrysalis, where is your hive?" asked a similar figure. "Gone, who are you to ask such questions of me? Chrysalis retorted. "I am Queen Radiance and this is my hive." the figure stated holding a holey hoof to a hole in the ground. "Follow me" she continued crawling into the hole followed shortly by Chrysalis. Walking into a large chamber Chrysalis gasped at the sheer number of eggs. "Here take this one." Radiance commanded levitating an egg to Chrysalis. "And why should I, it's deformed." Chrysalis snorted. "One I didn't ask, two to help start a new hive, and three don't judge a changeling by its egg." Radiance shot back in fury. Soon a slight crack broke the hateful silence. "It's hatching." she stated, her mouth gaping. Taking the egg in her magic Chrysalis held the hatching changeling. With a burst of red flame the hatchling disappeared only to be grabbed in the magical grasp of Chrysalis' magic. "On second thought this hatchling might just be what I need." Chrysalis stated with a grin. Stating a hollow farewell Chrysalis left the egg chamber and made her way towards the badlands. Months later Chrysalis laid her eggs in an underground cave. "Soon you'll be old enough to protect this hive." she murmured at the red eyed changeling. Looking at her the changeling teleported to a nearby crevice in the cave wall snarling at the entrance. "I see your new hive is starting well." commented Radiance. "Now were is the hatchling I gave you?" she asked. Chrysalis pointed to the hatchling's hiding spot just before a deep red flash appeared. "Looks like he can change forms already, he truly excels at magic. "Yes and he teleports all over the hive." Chrysalis grumbled. "But that aside he is quite strong as well." she continued. "What do you mean?" Radiance asked tilting her head. "He seems to lift things my changelings could not move at his age." Chrysalis pointed out. "That's the thing about my changelings, they are stronger and can take a harder hit than your deceivers." Radiance stated "Ah, Obsidian Blaze you're here." Chrysalis spoke with a devious tone. "Of course my queen you called." Blaze spoke bowing before Chrysalis. "Yes it is time for your hunt." Chrysalis stated grinning. "Remember keep the target small, and don't get caught." Chrysalis ordered raising her voice. "Of course my queen." Blaze spoke before leaving. Turning his head he asked "and food for the rest?". "You know well." Chrysalis spoke as the chamber doors closed. "I smell something." Blaze stated sniffing the air. Following the smell Obsidian Blaze came across a family of unicorns. "I want to go home." the filly pouted. "Lots of love here, more than enough for me and the hive." Blaze mumbled under his breath. Surrounding himself in a red flame Blaze emerged as a dark grey colt with a black mane striped with red lines matching his eyes. "Hello?" he spoke in a tone carrying false concern. The unicorn family gasped in surprise as he poked his head thick green bushes. "Well who are you?" the stallion asked giving a slight chuckle. Looking closer at the family Blaze noted their appearances. The stallion sported a light gray coat, black mane and tail with orange highlights, as well as brown eyes. The mare however looked completely different with a dark purple coat, solid light gray mane tied into a ponytail with a matching tail, along with sky blue eyes. As for the filly she had a gray coat matching her fathers, solid black mane and tail with a small red clip in her mane, along side her mother's eyes. "Are you alright, you blanked out for a minute there." the mare asked looking worried. "Yes, i'm fine." Blaze spoke up nervously. "Hey what's your name, i'm Red Hope." the filly called out waving a hoof. "Oh my name's Obsidian Blaze, my mother wanted me to invite ya'll to stay with us." Blaze spoke up. "Well that's mighty kind of you but I don't see a house any were." The stallion spoke up looking around. "Well that's because our house is under ground, here follow me." Blaze stated cheerfully waving his hoof. Leading the family to a cave Obsidian Blaze cast a light spell. "Oh my, are you sure this is were you live?" the mare asked resisting the urge to scoff at the cave. "Yep this is it." Blaze spoke up walking deeper into the cave. Arriving at a set of doors Blaze opened them. "After you." Blaze said bowing his head respectfully. After closing the door Blaze locked the door. "What is that!" the stallion yelled pointing at Chrysalis. "Good work Obsidian Blaze." Chrysalis complemented licking her lips. "I can fell their love from here. Suddenly dozens of changelings appeared from the walls and behind pillars. Looking back the unicorns gasped as the small colt was engulfed in a red flame appearing once again as a changeling in front of the doors. "As a reward for a more than successful hunt you may take the small one." Chrysalis stated. "Of coarse my queen." Blaze responded giving a deep bow. "Follow me." he commanded the filly as she followed. "You'll be staying here, with me." Blaze stated directing Red Hope. "My queen Ponies are coming!" a drone yelled gasping for breath. "Obsidian Blaze!" Chrysalis called at the top of her lungs. "You called my queen?" Blaze asked entering the throne chamber and giving a bow. "Yes I did, ponies are here so drive them off." Chrysalis ordered in a deep tone. "As you wish my queen." Blaze replied. Turning around he spotted three other drones before yelling "You three with me!". The three changelings replied in usision before following Blaze out the door. "Remember all the ponies that went missing were last spotted here, so keep your guard up." a dark gray Pegasus reminded his patrol. "Um sir, behind you." a white unicorn stammered pointing at four approaching changelings. "Orders commander?" one of the drones asked. "None escape, take them for the hive!" Blaze yelled. The ponies charged as Blaze unleashed a wave of red magic knocking the ponies into several trees. The Pegasus flew up into the air and back in the way that he came. Following the Pegasus Blaze fired a bolt of magic striking down the Pegasus causing him to crash. "The intruders are dealt with my queen, but might I suggest we be more careful about taking ponies?" Blaze asked bowing. "DO NOT TELL ME WHAT TO DO COMMANDER!" Chrysalis snapped at Obsidian Blaze. "But I am in need of a general now that the hive is at its full strength and you are the only qualified individual for it commander." Chrysalis continued calming down. //-------------------------------------------------------// Deception //-------------------------------------------------------// Deception "General!" a drone yelled running towards Obsidian Blaze. "What is it?" Blaze asked turning to the drone. "Six ponies were spotted in the forest sir." the drone replied. "One appears to be Twilight Sparkle." the drone completed his train of thought. "Notify the queen at once! I will deal with this myself."Blaze instructed. "TWILIGHT SPARKLE!" Chrysalis yelled with enough fury the two guards outside the throne chamber nearly fell face first. "Y-yes m-my queen, general Blaze is taking care of it." "Wow Fluttershy this place is beautiful." Twilight exclaimed looking at a small clearing surrounded but large trees and thick bushes. "Um thank you, it took a while to fine this place." Fluttershy thanked quietly. Moments before "Where are they?" Blaze mumbled to himself hovering above the trees. Blaze quickly landed as he heard talking. In a flash of red flame Blaze appeared as a charcoal grey stallion with a black mane and tail, and two maroon eyes. "Oh hello I didn't see you there." Twilight called out as she saw the stallion. "Why are you here?" Obsidian Blaze asked. "I could ask you the same thing!" a cyan pegasus with a rainbow main shot back. "Rainbow Dash!" Twilight yelled. "What?" Rainbow asked in surprise. Grumbling in annoyance Blaze looked up before speaking "Follow me it'll be raining soon." he stated blankly. "We're here." he mumbled flatly. "What is that?" Applejack asked pointing down a dimly lit cavern. "That's off limits." Blaze snapped quietly before continuing. "Here's your rooms, just chime the gemstone by the bed and i'll come." he finished heading for the restricted cavern. "Something doesn't seem right darling." Rarity spoke up looking concerned as she looked at the stone rooms. "I know what you mean, there's strong silencer spells on each of these rooms." Twilight stated putting her hoof to her chin. "What kind of spells?" Rainbow Dash asked. "Ugh, spells designed to stop the use of magic and prevent sound from ecapeing." Twilight explained face hoofing herself. "Well?" Chrysalis asked irritated. "They have been accommodated but the alicorn seems suspicious my queen." Blaze replied. "Bring them here NOW!" Chrysalis commanded two drones. "Hello?" one of the drones asked knocking on the door as a dark blue stallion and the other as a matching mare. "Oh hello, is something wrong?" Twilight asked answering the door. "Our mother wishes to meet you, please this way." the mare replied waving her hoof at the restricted tunnel. Following the pair the eight ponies walked in silence. "We're here." the stallion spoke opening a door. "Queen Chrysalis?!" Twilight and her friends yelled in surprise. "Yes, and you already meet the general." Chrysalis stated darkly. Turning to Obsidian Blaze they gasped once more as red flame surrounded him, emerging with small red eyes and a red tail to match. "Well hello." Blaze spoke showing now emotions with his head, but a small hint of glee was heard. "I know I should be freaked out but you sound happy and it doesn't show, why is that?" Twilight asked looking at Blaze carfully. Chuckling Blaze responded "Well since you ask, my outer chitinous hide very much hides most facial emotions shown by softer hide, such as the softer hide on the changelings around you." he explained. Nodding Twilight turned back to Chrysalis. "Well you have us, so what do you want?" Twilight asked a glint of her commanding presence showing in her eyes. "What about a game?" Blaze asked turning to Chrysalis. Seeing her confused expression he continued "You escape me and you're free to go, but I catch you you stay and are at the mercy of my queen." Blaze finished. "Fine." Chrysalis groaned nodding. "Five minutes head start, starting.....now!" Blaze announced. "We Should split up." Applejack suggested quietly. "That way he has less chances of getting us. "Time's up" Blaze stated smirking beneath his outer hide. Quietly flying down a corridor Blaze flew up behind Applejack. "Found you." Blaze whispered in her ear before knocking her out. "Take her to the queen!" he ordered tow drones as he shifted to look exactly like the orange mare. "Thank Celestia I caught up with ya'll!" Blaze yelled in a southern draw. "Applejack! Wait how do we know it's you?" Twilight questioned the mare. "He did say that if we got out we were free." Blaze quickly replied. "Good point." Twilight stated looking down. "Anyways we should get to Canterlot and tell princess Celestia." Twilight continued before turning toward the forest quickly followed by the others. //-------------------------------------------------------// Infiltration //-------------------------------------------------------// Infiltration "Hey Applejack, you alright?" Rainbowdash asked looking at the orange mare beside her. "Wha, oh yea i'm fine sugar cube." Blaze responded. 'Well it looks like the memory duplication spell worked.' Blaze thought. "Excuse me." Blaze murmured getting out of his seat and exiting the car. "Well?" Chrysalis asked in a soft voice. "All is going according to plan, they expect nothing my queen." Blaze responded bowing. "We arrive in Canterlot soon, I will contact you again soon." Blaze wrapped up dispelling the communication before Fluttershy walked in. "Oh hey Fluttershy, whatcha doin' here?" Blaze asked surprised. "Oh um I just wanted to check on you, you just seem to be acting strange ever since we got out of the hive." Fluttershy stammered hiding behind her long, pink mane. "I'm fine sugar cube." Blaze reassured her just as the train came to a halt. Jumping out of the train confetti exploded from Pinkie Pie. "Ah Twilight, is something wrong?" Celestia asked as the six mares entered the throne room of Canterlot castle. "Yes princess we found a changeling hive, just inside the Badlands!" Twilight exclamed frantically. "It was headed by queen Chrysalis!" she continued coming to a stop at the bottom of the throne steps. "Alright Twilight, Chrysalis may just be starting a new hive she may not have ill wishes toward us." Celestia stated calmly looking at the door as it opened once more. Princess Luna ran though frantically. "Sister, changelings have been spotted moving toward Canterlot!" she yelled gasping. "But he said he would let us go!" Rarity screamed. "He said that, but Chrysalis didn't." Pinkie pointed out bouncing around the room haply. "She's right!" Blaze exclaimed. "Ya'll stay here i'll check it out." Blaze continued. "I'm comen' with ya." Rainbow Dash stated bolting for the door. "Hold on Dash one pony is less likely to be seen, good luck Applejack." Twilight stated. "Mother a pony is coming this way." a drone commander stated quietly. "That is no pony commander, let Obsidian Blaze come." queen Radiance commanded politely. "Queen Radiance!" Blaze yelled in surprise. "I was expecting queen Chrysalis." he continued. "You know why i'm here general." Radiance spoke in a soothing tone. "To stop my little game." Blaze murmured angrily. "Yes you and I both know what Chrysalis is dong is wrong." Radiance stated looking at Obsidian Blaze sternly. "So I want you to reveal yourself to the ponies." She finished. "I will serve my queen to my dying breath." Blaze retorted. "That was not a command but merely a request general." Radiance spoke softly. "I will consider it, but I ask you and your hive to go home." Blaze stated with a bow. Watching from a distance Blaze saw the changelings leave in the direction of their hive. "Applejack!" Rainbow Dash yelled flying over the forest. Looking up Blaze sifted to look look Applejack once more. "Rainbow I thought Twilight told you to stay in Canterlot." Blaze scolded the cyan Pegasus. "Ya well I didn't listen." Rainbow stated gleefully. "Well lets get back to Canterlot." she continued turning out of the forest. "Hold on you two." Twilight growled before blasting the two with magic. "What the hay was that for!" Blaze yelled with Applejack's southern draw growing more defined. "That was to make sure you two weren't changelings." Twilight explained rolling her eyes. "But you obviously aren't changeling so what happened." she continued looking at Blaze. "I talked to the queen and she agreed to leave, and it wasn't Chrysalis." Blaze stated. "Another changeling queen, this is most troubling." Luna stated with a shocked expression. "Maybe an alliance can be formed if this queen was willing to listen to a pony." Celestia said putting her hoof to her muzzle in thought. Before she could continue a guard burst tough the door. "Princess a changeling has requested your presence." the guard stated gasping for breath. "Very well. Twilight please show the changeling here." Celestia commanded. Nodding Twilight left. "Hello." Radiance stated bowing her head slightly. "Well hello again...." She trialed off looking at Blaze. "A-applejack." Blaze stammered. "Ms. Applejack, now I believe you may be seeking an alliance?" Radiance asked. "Yes, we were just speaking about that." Celestia stated. "Very well, but it is late perhaps tomorrow?" Radiance asked. Nodding Celestia allowed the changeling queen to leave, escorted to the gest quarters. "Mother, what are you doing here?" Blaze asked poking his head though the door. Closing the door he shifted back to his natural form showing no emotion. "May I come in?" asked a motherly tone. As Queen Radiance opened the door Blaze quickly changed to look as a guard pony. "What are you doing here?" Celestia asked the white stallion before her. "Queen Radiance asked me to bring her something to drink." Blaze replied, standing at attention. "I was just leaving your highness." Blaze continued before trotting out of the room turning towreds the chambers of Applejack. Blaze quickly changed back into the orange mare once there was no pony in sight. Entering the room Blaze marveled at the almost country feel in the room. "Must be tailored to this mares preferences." Blaze mummbled. Sending out a serge of magic a red form appeared, quickly clearing to revile Queen Chysalis. //-------------------------------------------------------// Revelations //-------------------------------------------------------// Revelations "My queen please, the more I know of your motive the better I can preform if it is for nothing frivolous." Blaze stated in a hushed tone, lightly stomping his holed hoof. "Very well general, those ponies turned my last hive against me and I want revenge." Queen Chrysalis spoke with a noticeable growl. "Now what do you have to report?" she asked calming her voice. "Nothing new my queen." Blaze spoke giving a bow. Giving a huff Chrysalis cut the connection causing the red mist to fade. Sighing to himself Obsidian Blaze transformed back into Applejack and went to sleep. "Morning Applejack!" Pinke Pie yelled as Blaze entered the kitchen. "Mornin'." Blaze replied giving a yawn. "Hey Pinkie I need to talk with you and the girls about something." Blaze spoke never making eye contact. "Oh is it about you being a changeling?" the pink mare asked hopping to the oven and pulling a batch of cupcakes out. "Wha-" Blaze started before being cut off by the opening of a door. A servant walked in surprised to see the two mare before backing out of the room apolgizing profusely for her intrusion. "Now what makes you thing I'm a changeling?" he asked making sure nopony was near. "Well you've been acting strange, haven't argued with Rarity, and spending a lot of time with the Royal blacksmith." Pinkie spoke as Blaze's despare grew. "Any pony else know?" he asked lowering his head and covering his face with the farm mare's hat. "Nope." Pinkie spoke up jumping gleefully around the room. "You gonna tell them?" she asked jumping to the fridge. "Maybe." Blaze spoke. "Just don't tell any pony before brekfast, I want a chance to explain my self." he continued sternly. "I pinkie promise, cross my heart hope to fly stick a cupcake in my eye." Pinkie said. "Well I am concerned about her too, she has been acting strangely as of late." Rarity spoke as Pinkie Pie bounced into the room followed by Obsidian Blaze. "Good morning darlings." Rarity stated in a sing song tone. "I need to talk to all y'all about somethen', right now." Blaze spoke in a commanding tone that rivaled Celestia and Luna's own. "I'm not Applejack." Blaze spoke. A sudden flash of read flame appeared revealing an expressionless changeling. "I am General Obsidian Blaze of Queen Chyrisalis' hive." he spoke. "I-I need your help." Blaze continued lowering himself into a bow. "First, why revile yourself?" Celestia questioned setting down the tea she had been drinking. "Yes this is most intreging." Luna spoke up. "Well it is something my mother insisted on." Blaze stated pointing to Queen Radiance. "and Queen Chyrisalis' pathetic reason for me to be here." he continued. "What reason?" Celestia asked looking Obsidian Blaze sternly. Unfazed Blaze plainly answered "Revenge.". "She has lost her honor and by changeling code she must be brought down by one of her hive. I am the only one than can stand up aginst her in open conflict." he continued listing his jagged horn. A red flame slowly spread engulfing the room. "You know we must, she shows little care for those below her." spoke a female changeling adorned with a insect like helmet. "Who is that?" Twilight asked. Quickly turning around the changeling mare lit her own horn. "Ah general." spoke the changeling. "That earth mare is on here way to your location, I estimate a day or two if she keeps her pace." she continued covering her muzzle as she giggled. "Good work lieutenant." Blaze spoke before canceling the spell returning the room to normal. "What of your decision?" he asked turning to the three princess. "I am probably trusting you too much but what do you need." Celestia spoke before taking a sip of tea. "Unrestricted access to the Canterlot archives." Blaze spoke plainly. "Surely you are joking." Luna stated shocked by the request. Showing no signs of joking Luna gulped turning to her sister who seamed to be pondering the question. "Sister you can not be seriously considering this." Luna spoke shocked by her sister. "Very well, so long as you are accompanied by a princess." Celestia answered. "I'll go with you after brekfast." Twilight stated, happy to have an excuse to go to the archives. "No no no!" Blaze shouted slamming a large tome back on the shelf. Looking further down the aile he noticed a lone door. Walking closer he felt a surge of magic as his disguise fell. Lookin to his right he noticed two guards looking at him shocked. Turning around Twilight noticed the guards and explained the situation as Blaze attempted to redisguise himself. "That ward prevents all magic around the restricted section." Twilight explained. "It's not the ward I can't concentrate, there's something in there." Blaze stated rubbing his head. Looking confused Twilight entered the restricted section followed by a dazed Obsidian Blaze. "That hammer wher is it from?" Blaze asked pointing to the center of the small room. "Says here that it was created by the unicorns to make..." Twilight trailed off gasping. "To make weapons and armor to combat entities of powerful magic." Blaze finished his headache disappearing. "This is what I've been looking for." he finished grasping the hammer in a holed hoof. Growing angry Blaze flared his magic breaking the rooms protective charm and lifting the hammer. "H-how did you, just , wha?" Twilight babbled of how impossible this should be. Obsidian Blaze left the room with Twilight on his back as she continued to ramble. Entering the throne room he set Twilight down as she rambled earning a glare from Celestia. "What happened?" Celestia asked before looking at the hammer. "Where did you get that?" she asked angerly. Calmly Blaze explaned what happened in the archives. Groaning he blasted Twilight with a wave of magic knocking her out. "She's alive." Blaze stated with an annoyed tone. "And this is from the restricted section of the archives." he continued. Leaving the room Blaze went to the royal forge. "Well he has quite the amount of ordacity to do that." Luna chuckled, Twilight holding a bag of ice where her head hit the wall. Entering the room Blaze was wearing a dark helmet and chest pice along side black and dark red cloth covering his neck and back, wings lowered on top of the fabric. Adorning his left flank was along sword of jagged design. Looking closer Luna noticed a dark hammer strayed to his right side. "General Obsidian Blaze at your command." Blaze spoke, his voice slightly muffled by the helmets face guard. "Princess' there's a changeling here!" Applejack shouted bursting into the throne room. "We know." Celestia stated waving a hoof to Blaze. "Go get your friends." Celestia commanded. "You asked for us?" Twilight asked entering the room with her friends. "Yes, I've ordered General Blaze to take one of you with him." Celestia stated with a hint of nervousness in her voice. Looking at the six mares Blaze pointed to Twilight. //-------------------------------------------------------// A troubled past //-------------------------------------------------------// A troubled past "So why don't you show emotion or do you just not have any?" Twilight asked as she and Obsidian Blaze flew towards the Badlands. "For the fifth time tonight, my outer chitin hides all facial emotion that my softer chitin shows underneath!" Blaze snapped scanning the ground. "Ok, so how did you end up with Queen Chrysalis?" Twilight asked softly. "Finally a good question, my mother Queen Radiance found Queen Chrysalis shortly after the loss of her hive I was given to Queen Chrysalis as an egg to help restart her hive." Blaze answered giving a grunt. "Are you alright?" Twilight asked concerned. "Yea I'm fine, just not used to flying with these bags that's all." Blaze answered landing on the ground. "We should camp here for the night." he continued levitating his bags to the ground. "Hey um why is your aura red, I mean most changelings auras are green." Twilight asked setting her bags down beside Blaze's. "Queen Radiance, my mother said I was the only changeling born when she found herself with me after infiltrating a town of ponies, said she was blind folded a ring was put on her horn, preventing her from changing back to her true form." Blaze stated with a sigh. "The stallion had his way with her, the next day she ordered the hive to take care of the stallion, but I never knew who my father was mother says she didn't kill him though, so I may still meet him." he finished and started to help Twilight with her tent. "I guess it runs in the family to use a unicorn form." Twilight chucked. "She was under the guise of an alicorn." Blaze stated blankly earning a surprised look from Twilight. "How many years ago?" Twilight asked putting a hoof to her chin. "About sixteen years ago I believe." Blaze stated stoking a small fire. He pulled a small can and posted it over the fire, letting the contents cook. "Well you're better than I thought you'd be." Twilight exclaimed swallowing the last of her food. "Well Applejack's knowledge on campfire cooking is useful." Blaze stated lighting his horn. "Get to the camp!" screamed the female changeling as she appeared. "general the queen learned of our plans the we're in full retreat right now!" she continued to scream over blast of magic. "Then get to safety!" blaze yelled canceling the spell. "Come, our hidden camp is not far from here, we shall prepare it for the wounded." he continued undoing Twilight's tent and smothering the fire. Approaching a small clearing Obsidian Blaze ignited his horn sending a red flame across the clearing reviling several tents and a fire pit. Chuckling at Twilight's shocked expression he then sent a bolt of magic into the large pit causing a flame to burst out as the air began to warm. "How did you hide all of this?" Twilight asked looking around the camp. Watching she noticed a slight shimmer from the forest. "Lieutenant bring in any injured." Blaze ordered seeing a female changeling emerge. As the changeling shouted orders Twilight saw a slight green glow. "Timberwolf!" Blaze screamed drawing his sword. Howling the timberwolf charged and Blaze swung his blade cutting deep into the beast causing it to topple into the fire. The wolf cried out in pain as wood cracked, burning in the fire. "Nice work general." the female changeling complimented as the cries of pian died down. "Where'd you get that armor?" she asked looking at the meatl and cloth. "Made it, now what happened?" Blaze asked looking at the limping drones. "Somehow the queen picked up on our code and ordered the others to kill us." the female drone responded lowering her head. "Very well lieutenant Hope, get some rest." Blaze ordered walking to a large open tent. Twilight entered the tent as Blaze motioned her to take a bed. "Hello Twilight." Luna spoke appearing from a moon high in the cloudless sky. "Princess Luna!" Twilight yelled looking up from her book. "Yes, Tia wanted me to get an update on you and General Blaze." Luna stated rolling her eyes. "Well besides discovering he and some rebel changelings had a camp, he told me a bit about his past." Twilight responded rising to her hooves. "Oh did he now?" Luna asked tilting her head. "Yes but I shouldn't tell." Twilight stated glancing around. "Oh I can ask him myself." Luna replied with a giggle covering her mouth. Obsidian Blaze Grunted as he was thrown against a white and gold wall. "I will not fall." Blaze growled, shakily getting to his hooves. Drawing his blade he charged at his shadowy attacker. "Hahaha, you cannot fight me forever." the figure stated speaking in a deep, dark tone. "No, I WILL NOT FALL!!!" Blaze bellowed swinging his jagged blade growing angrier each time it passed though his opponent. "You cannot defeat your own shadow." the creature spoke menacingly. "AAAAHHHH!!" the beast yelled out in agony as a white flash broke the darkness. "Your highness." Blaze said going to a deep bow of respect. "Rise." Luna commanded. "Tell me more about your self." she continued. "As you wish your highness." Blaze responded. "I am truly sorry." Luna stated struggling to keep her composer. "There is one thing I haven't told you, something nopony else knows, save my brethren and mother." Blaze stated nervously. Luna looked down before nodding. "The reason I have a specific form to turn into to be around ponies is due to I am only half changeling, this also allows me to feel emotions that other changelings can't." he continued. "Emotions such as love." he finished looking at Luna. "When this is all over I will not have a hive to serve, thus once Queen Chrysalis is dead I General Obsidian Blaze pledge my blade to the service of the equestrian crown." Blaze stated standing at attention. "I am sure my sister would be glad to hear this..." Luna began before being cut off by Obsidian Blaze. "All due respect I would like to pledge my full allegiance to you Princess Luna." Blaze stated. "Well I am very thankful but will need time to think about this." Luna stammered, a small blush showing though her coat. "Good day." Luna stated her farewell before dispersing in a ball of silver moon light. //-------------------------------------------------------// Final judgement //-------------------------------------------------------// Final judgement "Luna with all of her adventures Twilight will have more use of him in Ponyville, and if you notice he looks more fondly to Rainbow Dash." Celestia stated looking sternly. "Hm, perhaps you are right just all the stallions seem to make proposals to you and none to me" Luna complained. "I understand Luna, but the right stallion will come along it just takes time." Celestia stated comforting her sister. "Press forward, don't stop now we're almost to the throne room!" Obsidian Blaze yelled swinging his jagged blade. Blasting another changeling Twilight dropped to her knees. "Are you alright your highness!" Blaze yelled running to her. "Sorry not used to using this much magic, or running this much." Twilight sighed gasping for breath. "General we've reached the throne room!" Cried a drone. "Alright hold this door and protect the princess." Blaze stated flaring his horn. "Well well General Blaze." Chrysalis stated flatly with a bored expression from her throne. "Queen Chrysalis, you have dishonored your hive thus by ancient code I am required to eliminate you and appoint a new queen!" Blaze yelled, his voice echoing across the room. "And any whom interfere will be slain as well." he continued a sternness that startled the two honor guards standing at the base of the throne. Growling in rage Queen Chrysalis lunged at her form or general. Rising his blade Obsidian Blaze blocked the holed hooves. Grunting he threw Chrysalis off as he charged a blast of magic, releasing it upon the queen. "Will not fall to you now or EVER!" Chrysalis screamed unleashing a torrent of green magic straing aginst Blazes red stream causing a glow of brown light. After a few minutes the brown light formed a ball eventually exploding forcing the two away to the walls. Grunting Blaze rose to his feet noticing Chrysalis stumbling to her hooves. "You know this may be cliché but I do believe we are of equal power." Obsidian Blaze stated. Screaming Chrysalis charged gasping as a long jagged blade enveloped in a purple aura was forced into her. "Well that was unexpected." He stated blankly looking at Twilight as she let the blade go staring at the dead queen shock plastered to her face. A green mist emanated from Chrysalis and floated to Obsidian Blaze's horn. "lieutenant step forward!" He commanded. "Yes general." Lieutenant Hope stated timidly. "By the desision of the hive you have been selected as the next hive queen." Blaze stated bowing. Soon after his horn glew as the green mist transferred to Hope. "The hive is yours to command, Queen Hope." he continued raising to stand by Twilight's side. "Will she get taller?" Twilight asked as they flew towards Canterlot. "Yes, but it will take time for the full power to manifest." Blaze stated looking around. Spotting a pony he quickly set to the ground and shifting to his pony form with the addition of a fiery hammer on his flank. "Oh hello there." the pony called out softly hiding behind her pink mane. "Fluttershy!" Twilight yelled hugging the mare. "Ah yes now I remember you Ms. Shy." Blaze stated dispelling his disguise and nodding his head. Gasping she hid behind Twilight. "Fluttershy it's alright he a good changeling." Twilight reasured her timid friend. "What am I a dog?" Blaze asked quizzically. Giggling Twilight lead the two back to town as Obsidian Blaze reconciled himself. Flaring his horn Obsidian Blaze saw a red alicorn appear. "Princess Celestia." he stated with a bow. "Ah general I take it you succeeded." Celestia stated. Raising to his hooves Blaze nodded. "Good." she responded. "Luna and I have decided that your skill will be better served in Ponyville." she continued in her motherly tone. "As you wish your highness." Blaze responded. Canceling his magic the image of Celestia dispersed. "Good morning." he stated as six mares entered the map room as breakfast was set. "Um Twilight darling you do relize there's a changeling in your home right?" Rarity asked pointing at Obsidian Blaze. "Yes Rarity he's staying in Ponyville." Twilight stated rolling her eyes. "Yes but I will need a place to live until I have a home of my own." Obsidian Blaze stated pulling a chair to the table for himself. "Well anypony have anywhere for him to stay." Rainbow Dash asked looking frantically around at her friends. Sighing she noticed all her friends shaking their heads. "Fine you can stay at my house." Rainbow Dash complained. "But don't try anything!" she yelled. "As you wish." Blaze responded nodding his head as he and Rainbow Dash set off for her cloud home. //-------------------------------------------------------// Home sweet home //-------------------------------------------------------// Home sweet home "I must thank you again Ms. Dash for allowing me to stay." Obsidian Blaze stated setting his armor down. "Yea well just don't try anything, and I've got family coming over tomorrow so stay out of sight don't need them freaking out about a changeling ok." Rainbow Dash retorted flying to her kitchen. "You know I could just turn into a pony." Blaze stated matter of factly. "What that unicorn you turned into, how you going to explain how you got up here or how you're walking on clouds?" Dash snorted. "You'll see." Blaze stated shifting into his pony form, a grin adorning his lips. "Hey mom, hey dad here let me take that for you." Dash stated excitedly. Grunting she picked up the bags nearly dropping them as a few were enveloped in a red aura. "I know you think you can carry all of that but you're nor that good." Blaze pointed out floating the bags to the coach. "Oh Rianbow you didn't tell us you had a colt friend." Dash's mom remarked. "I-it's not what you think!" Rainbow Dash screeched in panic. "Your daughter is merely allowing me to stay here until I can finish building my own home here in Ponyville." Blaze stated calmly rolling his eyes at Dash's reaction. "Well none of my friends had a place for him to stay so..." Dash trailed off. Looking at him Dash's father spoke up "Don't you try anything with her." he stated sternly. "No need to worry sir about that my experience with mares are pretty much nonexistent." Blaze replied calmly. Sitting at the table Dash spoke with her parents while Blaze spoke in silence. "Um are you alright, you seem a bit quiet." Dash's mother spoke up. "Yes mame I'm fine just didn't want to intrude on your conversation. "Oh it's alright, anyways where are you from?" Dash's mother asked. "My family lived just inside the badlands." Blaze stated earning a gasp from the three Pegasi. "We sold tools made of minerals found only in the badlands to travelers so we had a decent food source, basically we gave travelers high grade tools in extange for food." he continued. "There was one filly I meet, Red Hope I think her name was, her family was killed by timber wolves so she came back to us." he finished. Looking around Blaze noticed Dash's mother crying and Rainbow Dash herself about to burst into tears. Noticing that everypony was finished he levitated the dishes over to the kitchen beginning to wash them as Dash's parents went to the guest room. "Did her parents really get killed by..." Dash began before beginning to cry. "No under the orders of Queen Chrysalis I took the filly to my chambers to feed off her arcane essence, but instead knowing her parents would die I put her in a cacoon and over time she became a changeling herself." Blaze stated, sadness crossing his voice. "When I became general of the hive I made her my lieutenant, but she never seemed happy..." he trailed off feeling an odd sensation in his horn. Lighting his horn an image of a taller than average drone appeared. "Queen Hope!" he nearly screamed. "Hello general." Queen Hope stated with a smile. "Wait is that the filly?" Dash asked. Nodding Blaze smiled. "So you are Queen Red Hope?" she asked earning a nod lined with a giggle. The image faded as Blaze let the spell fall as he returned to washing the dishes. "Well night Blaze, see you tomorrow." Dash stated heading for her room. Nodding Blaze finished and headed to sleep on the coach. "Well who are you?" Discord asked as Obsidian Blaze hammered a final nail into the frame of his home. "Huh what, oh sorry caught in thought there sorry." Blaze apologized. "Name's Obsidian Blaze." he continued. "And I'm Discord." Discord stated glee flowing freely in his voice. "Oh here's these are from Rarity." Spike stated gasping for breath. "Thank you Spike." Blaze stated taking the clothes in his magic. Lining boards and nails along his house Blaze hammered each nail into the planks of wood. "And done." he stated happily. Looking around he noticed Applejack and Big Mac with a wagon of furniture. "Well I'll be when you say you're gonna do somethen you do it." Applejack remarked looking at the two story home. "Eyep." Big Mac stated looking over the house. "Thanks for making all this." Blaze thanked levitating the furniture off the wagon. "Well with all the extra wood from rebilding the barn it's the least we could do." Applejack explained fanning herself with her hat. "One of the few seasons I hate having a dark coat." Blaze grumbled floating the furniture though the open for door and up the stairs. Coming back outside he noticed Pinkie Pie bouncing with a cart of fine cut stones behind her. "Hia!" she shouted as she came to a stop. "Thank you Ms. Pie." Blaze stated smiling. "Come on in." he continued gesturing for the ponies to enter. "It'll take time but I should be able to open in a moon or two." he stated. "So I can get nails cheaper here?" Applejack asked looking around. "Well considering you can just come by and pick them up cutting out transportation coast yes." Blaze remarked. "Wow, hey this mean you don't have to live with me right?" Rainbow Dash asked coming in. "Yes I'll move my stuff here today." Blaze replied. "Hey Ms. Dash you think we could meet up somewhere tonight?" he asked timidly. "You mean like a date?" Dash asked. "Um yes." Blaze replied stuttering. "Um shure, the Hayburgar tonight six o'clock." Dash replied. Flying off she blushed she wondered why she just accepted a date that night. //-------------------------------------------------------// The date //-------------------------------------------------------// The date "Oh man, oh man what am I going to do?" Rianbow Dash asked herself out loud running frantically around her room. "I mean he's a changeling how do I know he doesn't just what to feed off my love?" she continued. "Come on you're the most awesome mare in Equestria and a wonderbolt and you're scared of a date." Dash shook her head after crashing into her bathroom door. "I hope I didn't scare her, I was a bit blunt." Blaze beraded himself. "I'll pick her up from her house and we can talk on the way." Blaze continued. "Coming!" Dash yelled. Opening the door to her house she gasped. "Um hi." she stuttered. "I figured it would be best to come pick you up." Blaze explained. "Um nopony saw you like that right?" Dash asked looking at him. "No, nopony saw me like this, I waited till I was clear of town before releasing my disguise." Blaze explained. "Ok good." Dash sighed in relief. "Well let's go." she continued. Upon reaching town Obsidian Blaze disguised himself once more. Dash ordered her food and drink upon reaching the Hayburger. "Dam I left my bits at home." Dash cursed at herself before Blaze rolled his eyes and placing the appropriate amount on the counter. "What name is this order under?" the stallion behind the counter asked with a bored expression. "Obsidian Blaze." Blaze answered. Sitting at a table with Rainbow Dash the two chatted for a bit. "Obsidian Blaze!" the stallion called out. Getting up Blaze walked up to the counter to grab the food. "Hey there beautiful what's your name?" a Pegasus stallion asked plopping down in the seat opposite of her. "Hey that's my dates seat!" Dash screeched angerly. "What that little unicorn?" the stallion asked with a snort. "Yea and he could kick your flank from here to Canterlot." Dash remarked. "I'd like to see him try." the stallion laughed. "And I'd like you to respect the lady's wishes and leave." Blaze stated putting the tray of food down. "Oh yea and what you gonna do toothpick." the stallion snorted at the request. "I bet I could beat you out of here." he continued laughing. "While I doubt that I'd prefer to avoid a confertation as of right now, there are foals here." Blaze replied calmly. "Why you little." the stallion growled colliding his hoof with the side of Blaze's head. Grunting at the pain Blaze simply looked forward again, a red mark appeared from where the hoof collided. "What you gonna do toothpick?" the stallion mocked swinging his hoof again. "Sir I strongly advise you stop." Blaze suggested, anger creeping into his voice. Smack, he winced as yet another blow connected with him. Just as another blow was about to connect Blaze forced a blast of magistrate all around only knocking down the stallion, leaving all else untouched. A red flame consumed Blaze as his magic skyrocketed. "What the hay?" Dash gasped in surprise. "Hey now let's not get carried away now." the stallion stuttered. "I gave you a chance to back down, but that ship has sailed." Blaze growled anger flowing with his voice. With that the stallion fled. Calming down Blaze fainted. "Blaze!" Dash yelled. "Somepony get a doctor or something!" she screamed. "What happened?" Blaze asked opening his eyes. "No it happened didn't it?" he asked worried. "Well if your talking about fire engulfing you and scaring everypony, then yes." Twilight stated. "What was that anyways, the surge of magic woke Princess Luna up" she continued. "Dam I was hoping to never have to explain this." Blaze stated, fear in his voice. "Well it's rare but a few warrior class changelings have been known to have short tempers and when they lose it their magic skyrockets." he explained. "Though they do typically have very little control over their magic when they go berserk." he continued. "Well maybe we could try that date thing again some time?" Dash asked creeping though the door. "Perhaps after I've recovered, it will take about a day two at the most." Blaze explained. Feeling his horn heat up Blaze lit it reviling Celestia. "What happened?" Celestia asked concern lining her voice. "Lost my temper, I'll contact you again later but for now I need to rest." Blaze responded before cutting the flow of magic from his horn. "Hey Ms. Dash may I speak to you alone please." he asked. Nodding the rest left the room. "Hey sorry you had to see that last night." he apologized. "Hey don't say that, that stupid stallion had it coming to him." Dash stated holding back a laugh. "And just call me Dash ok, we're dating." she continued blushing. "There is one thing about berserkers I didn't mention." Blaze stated looking down. "Some of us have been known to gain full control over it making us some of the most vicious combatants in this world." he continued looking up at her confused expression. "Well that's good but hey how about my place six o'clock?" Dash asked worryingly. "Alright I'll try to be there." Blaze responded, a slight smile on his face. "Well I made it." he stated looking at the door to Dash's home. Knocking his ears perked up at a crash. "I said no!" Dash screamed at the stallion from their last date. "Oh come on you saw what that thing is." the stallion snorted. "Yea I saw but I got to know him, sure he has a short temper but he doesn't like to hurt others if he can help it." Dash shot back. Disguising himself Blaze forced the doors open. "She said no!" Blaze yelled at the stallion. Charging at the stallion he charged a spell and teleported right behind him. The stallion slammed against the wall as Blaze put all his strength into a kick. "Thanks Blaze." Dash stated running up to him. "Listen to me now what you saw at the Hayburger was only a taste leave now!" Blaze yelled sternly. "Oh yea and i'm Princess Celestia." the stallion retorted. "It can be arranged for you to meet her personally." Blaze growled. Igniting his horn a image of Celestia appeared. "Ah General Blaze to what do I owe the pleasure." Celestia asked. Looking at his glare Celestia saw the stallion. "Oh this." Celestia sighed. "You need to stop this, but the fact that General Blaze contacted me about you is the last straw." she continued. "General you may bring him to Canterlot by any means required." she finished canceling the spell. "You're coming with me" Blaze sneered, his armor coming out of the closet. "G-general?" the stallion stammered. "Listen there's no need for trouble now." he continued backing into the wall. Charging a spell Blaze teleported the stallion straight to the throne room in Canterlot castle. "Now about that date?" Blaze asked. "Ok." Dash stated. Dash began giggling at the thought of what might happen to the stallion. "Well I'd say that when much better." she stated. "Yep definitely better, but I've got one more thing planed." Blaze stated smirking. counting down from ten in his head. "Woa!" Rainbow Dash yelled as a team of Wonderbolts flew by. "Wait did you?" she asked looking at Blaze. Nodding he smiled. "Well good night." Dash said leaving a peck on Blaze's cheak. "Good night Dash." Blaze stated. "See you tomorrow." he finished walking back to his home as Rainbow Dash flew to hers.
