Ep. 1 - A New Kind Of Day - Chapter 1 - The Long Ride Home
Some days in the world, they're great days. BBQs, days with family, those days are just perfect.
Today was not one of those days for a named Lee Everett. This man was currently on his way to jail for murder. The look on his face was one of regret. He didn't mean for it to turn out the way it did. He was just so angry... felt betrayed.
Oh well, the past is the past, and there is no changing it. What's done is done.
He was lost in his thoughts when a voice brought him back to earth. The voice belonged to the police officer that was currently driving him to the jail he was going to be spending the rest of his life in.
"Well, I reckon you didn't do it then."
Lee was confused by the sudden question.
"Why do you say that?"
"I've driven a bunch of fellas down to this prison, lord knows how many, seems 'bout now I get the "I didn't do it.""
"Not from me."
"Because people in your position all ready said it enough?"
There was a pause for a few seconds until the officer decided to continue the conversation.
"I followed your case a little bit. You being a Macon boy and all."
Lee picked up on the comment,"You're from Macon then."
"Yep, and up to Atlanta to be a city cop in the 70's, always wanted to work a murder case. Looks like you got yourself in quite the mess, with all due respect. A shame that is."
At this time, a few cop cars with sirens blaring traveling toward the city of Atlanta in the opposite direction.
"Hell, all my folks used to be regulars at your folks store, still there?"
"Sure is."
"Good"
There was another pause until the cop started taking again.
"I got a nephew up in UGA, you teach there long?"
"Going on my sixth year."
"You meet your wife in Athens?"
The mention of his wife caused Lee's face to drop fall to one of sadness, recalling memories from that night he came home. The same night that he made the biggest mistake in his life.
"You wanna know how I see it?"
The moment he said that, Lee saw more police cars as well as one or two SWAT vans following the group of cop cars he saw earlier.
'What's happening?' Lee thought.
He remembered the officer's question and replied,"Sure", he didn't see any point to object.
The officer opened his opened his mouth to talk, but stopped when he saw the glare Lee was giving him and closed his mouth. Only to opened it again.
"Regruadless, it could be you just married the wrong women."
Lee felt his anger rise with that foment the cop made. He was going to respond to the comment, but decided against it, settling with a low growl instead.
He looked out the window hopped to get his mind off of his wife, yet again he saw police cars with SWAT vans, only this time there was a helicopter flying behind them, following them to the city.
The cop started to talk again,"I'm driving this man once, he was the worse one. He wouldn't stop going on about how he didn't do it. He was a older fella, big soft eyes behind a pair of smart folk glasses and he's just wailing on back there about he didn't do it. Crying and snotting all over right where you're sitting."
He takes a brake in speaking to turn off his radio.
"Before long he starts kicking the back of the seat, li-like a fussy baby on a airplane. I told him to stop, that's government property, or I'll be forced to zap him otherwise. So he stops and haven't exhausted all of his options, he starts crying out for his mama."Mama, It's all a big mistake! It wasn't me!
Lee was interested. "So, did he do it?"
"They caught the fucker red headed! Stabbin' his wife, cutting her up as the boys come through the door. He sits in my car scearming "bloody murder!" that it wasn't him. I think he actually believed it him self. It just goes to show. People will often go mad when they believe their life is over.
The officer was starting to talk about another story about a experience he had, when Lee spotted someone walking the middle of the road. The worse part was that neither the cop nor the person on the road noticed the danger that was fast approaching.
Without thinking, Lee shouted at the officer, trying to warn him about the person in the road, but it was to late.
The car hit the person head on and started to swerve off the road, though the gaurdrail, and started to roll down a very steep hill.
Due to there being no seatbelt sin the back of the car, Lee was flying around in the back until he head his head hard enough to knock him out cold.
Ep. 1 - Chapter 2 - Clementine
"Spike! Can you pass me that plate please?"
"Sure thing Twilight! Just hold a second... got it!"
"Thanks Spike." Twilight said, smiling at her number one assistant.
"You're welcome Twilight. So, you think this thing will actually work? What it's supposed to do anyway?"
"This Spike, is supposed to enhance a unicorn's magic to perform more complicated spells easier! The best part is that it runs on magic, so you can recharge it once for multiple uses!" Twilight explained, all to happy to.
"How going to test it?"
"Teleportation spell. If it works I should be able to teleport far beyond a unicorns normal teleportation range."
"Cool. Sounds like you know what you're doing."
"I just need to make a few small adjustments. I'm also planning to write to the princesses about this."
"why don't you tell them now?"
"Well, the princesses already know about it, so I'll just tell them to come down for a visit once it's done."
"So, they know about it, they're just waiting for it to be finished."
"Yep." Twilight concluded.
"So... when is it supposed to be ready?"
"Should be ready when I get this plate attached... there! It's all ready to go! Just have to test it to make sure it works."
"Alright then. Give it a shot."
Twilight, not wasting another second, lit up her horn preparing her magic to cast on the device. After spending a few seconds charging her magic to her horn, Twilight casted the spell needed to charge the device. It was a simple spell, so she had no trouble casting it.
The device powered up.
"It's working, it's working, it's working, YES! Twilight shouted at the top of her lungs.
"Nice going Twi! Uhh...is it supposed to do that?"
Twilight stop her cheering to look at the device, only to drop her ears down, her face turned quickly to concern. The device was currently blinking a lot of different colors, but the most interesting thing about the device was her magic aura was now changing colors from a light purple to a deep blue.
"No it's not!" Twilight yelled as she rushed to the machine, hoping to shut it down.
"Twilight! What happening!?" Spike asked, starting to get scared.
Twilight ignored the question while examining the machine, which was starting to shake.
"Spike! Run!" Twilight yelled to Spike as she started to run from the machine.
However, before either of them could get far, the device exploded. Sending a magic shock wave through the room, catching both of them in it. Before either of them knew what was happening, the light became to bright and they shut their eyes. The light disappeared slowly...
Only to reveal a empty room.
~~~~~~<><><>()<><><>~~~~~~
"Twilight! Twilight! Wake up!"
"Uhhh..." Twilight moaned as she open her eyes. Only to shut them again to protect them from the sunlight.
"Twilight! Thank Celestia you're ok! I don't know where we are!"
"What do you mean you don't know where... we.... are..." Twilight slowly trailed off as she got up and looked around.
The place she was in was NOT equestria.
It looks like they're in the middle of a road. Surrounded by... big metal... things.
"What are these things?" Twilight asked as she approached one of the many metal things.
"You're asking me?" Spike deadpanned.
Twilight was absolutely terrified. It didn't help the fact that she saw what looked like a body of... something in a pool of what she thought was blood. She just sat there with tears in her eyes. What did she do wrong? What went wrong?
After a long silence, she spoke in a voice barely above a whisper," We should get inside before somepony sees us."
"Yeah... yeah okay...," Spike looked around for a brief moment,"How about there?" he pointed his claw at a house that had tannish walls and a brown roof.
"Okay, let's get moving." Twilight said weakly, getting up to go to the house Spike pointed out.
They got to house, which was unlocked and the door was open, which was very weird to Twilight, walked inside and shut the door once they were inside. They froze when they turned around once the door was closed.
The place was ransacked. There was a bookshelf turned over on the stairs to block them, there was a... box thing that had a black and white going crazy on it, as well as the horrible noise it was creating. But what got them to froze was the giant pool of blood in the entrance of what Twilight assumed was a kitchen. If the fridge and sink were anything to go about.
"Sweet Celestia... what happ-"
*BANG*
The sudden sound cause Twilight and Spike to both jump and turn their head to a glass door. They soon started to hear growls unlike any other growls they've heard before.
"What is that? Growling?" Spike asked.
"Sounds like it, but I haven't heard any growling like that before." Twilight responded, looking unsure herself.
Before they could say anything else they heard a grunt as well as a thump from outside. They turn their heads to see out the door only to see... something crawling away from the fence.
Twilight then heard more of those bangs from earlier. They didn't make her jump this time due to them being quieter. She figured the source of the sound was further away than the last time.
The growls then ceased and the thing stood up on its hind legs,
'How is it not falling over?' Twilight thought to herself.
"Hello...? Anybody...?" The creature outside said.
"It can talk?" Spike whispered to Twilight.
Twilight put the pieces together,"I think that's a human."
"A what?"
"A human. They're a type of creature a was studying a few weeks ago, but the book said they were extinct."
"Of course you were studying." Spike mumbled to himself.
"It's coming this way! Hide!" Twilight quietly screamed.
Twilight dragged (literally dragged) Spike over to the bookshelf and they hid underneath that. It was a tight fit, but they managed.
"Hello? Anybody home? I need a little help."
Twilight figured it was best to stay quiet.
"Hellooo? There's something going on..."
'Something going on? What's going on?' Twilight thought to herself.
She heard the door open and felt her body tense.
"Coming in. Don't shoot okay?"
'Shoot?'
She heard the door close followed by a cry of pain from the human,"Ahh, shit. Hello. I'm not an intruder...or one of THEM.
"Twilight, what does it mean by "THEM?"
"I don't know Spike."
Twilight heard the human say something else in a whisper,"These people might need more help than I do."
Now Twilight was VERY confused. She couldn't put any pieces together.
Before she could think any more, she heard a beeping sound from her left.
"What's that beeping?" She heard the human say to himself.
She then heard a clicking sound followed by a new voice.
"Message one. Left at five-forty-three p.m."
"Hey Sandra! This is Diana. We're still in Savannah. Ed had a incident with some crazy guy, so we had to get him back to the ER and have him checked out. Anyway, He's not feeling well enough to drive back, so we're staying a extra day. Thank you so much for looking after Clementine and I promise we'll be back in time before your spring break."
"Message two. Left at eleven-nine-teen p.m.
"Oh my god finally! I-I don't know if you've been trying to reach us, al-all the calls are getting dropped, they're not letting us leave, and aren't telling us anything about Atlanta. Please, please just leave the city and take Clementine with you back to Marietta. I've got to get back to the hospital. PLease let me know that you're safe."
Twilight had been studying the human as it walked around, probably examining its surroundings. But as soon the third message started playing, the human stopped and looked toward the source of the messages with a sad look on his features. As soon as Twilight started to listen to the message, her ears folded back and she to had a look of sadness on her face.
"Message three. Left at six-fifty-one a.m."
"Clementine baby. If you can hear this, call the police... that's 9-1-1... we love you... we love you... we love y-"
The message was cut off.
Twilight tried her best to stop the tears from coming out after hearing the human's voice trying to warn her child.
Twilight saw the human pick up a square frame, which Twilight assumed was a picture of whoever lived here.
A voice from the kitchen surprised both Lee and Twilight.
“Daddy?”
“Huh?” The human's head looked over to the kitchen and started to limp over there to find whatever caused the voice. A few seconds later, Twilight saw the human standing in front of the glass door.
“Hello?” The human asked,
“You need to be quiet.” The voice responded.
‘How is that possible? How are they talking to each other? Who is he even talking to?’ Twilight had so many questions.
“I’m not a monster.”
“Good”
‘Monster?’
The human backed away from the door he walked into the house from and chose to walking into the living room. He was no more than a few feet from where Twilight and Spike were hiding.
The human continued to look around while continuing the conversation with something he had in his… claw things…
“Who is this?”
“I’m Clementine. This is my house.”
“Hi Clementine. I’m Lee.”
“You’re not my daddy.”
“No, I’m not.
Twilight could now hear Lee’s voice more clearly now, so Twilight made a guess and concluded that Lee was male.
“How old are you?”
“Eight.”
“And you’re alone?”
“Yes. I don't know where anybody is. How old are you?”
“I’m uh… 37.”
“Ok”
Lee started to make his way back to the kitchin. He then asked the question that Twilight was wandering.
“Where are your parents?”
“They took a trip and left me with Sandra. They’re in Savannah I think. Where the boats are?”
Twilight heard something hit the bookshelf that she and Spike were hiding under, causing her to almost jump out of her skin.They heard it fall to the floor. Then Twilight saw looked like human legs, but they looked rotten and the figure was walking with a limp.
“Where are you?” She heard Lee ask.
“I’m outside in my treehouse. They can’t get in.”
“That’s smart.” Lee praised.
Lee saw a child poke her head out from the treehouse.
“See? Can you see me? I can see you from the widow.”
The girl waved to him and Lee waved back.
Meanwhile, Twilight has made the decision to go and investigate the thing see saw just a few seconds ago.
“Wait. You’re going out there?” Spike asked, confused.
“I just want to get a closer look at what we just we just saw.” Twilight answered in a hushed voice.
Twilight then turned back around and headed for the kitchen where she figured she’d find the thing. But then she remembered that the human was in the kitchen. Without thinking, she ran to the kitchen and stopped when she saw the thing heading toward Lee. She had to warn him!
“Watch out!”
Lee turned around, only to be meant with a snarling, rotten, human corpse that lunged at him the moment he turned around. He managed to grab its arms to keep it at bay. Twilight was frozen to where she stood. She has never seen anything that terrifying in her life.
‘Come on Twilight! Snap out of it! He needs help!’ But she couldn't move.
Lee, in the meantime, managed to push off the corpse toward the counter where it fell to the ground. Lee took a quick moment to catch his breath before he turned around and bolted to the exit of the kitchin. In the short time he was running, he could have sworn that he saw a something that looked like a pony just staring at him. Lee was too busy staring at the pony that he was not looking where he was going and stepped in the pool of blood, which caused him to slip and hit his head on the edge of the counter.
The living corpse took the advantage and started to crawl over to where Lee was lying, but before it could get close, it was blasted in the head with a beam of purple light. It did not kill it, but it did go flying across the room.
Lee quickly stood up and began running again, only to for the corpse to grab his ankle, causing him to fall again. He turned around and punched the corpse which caused it to fall back, but it only got right back up.
Lee continued to back away. Twilight saw a little human, which Twilight assumed was Clementine. She was holding a hammer and opened the door. At this point, Lee was flat on the ground struggling to keep the snarling beast away from him. He did manage to push it off of him and turned around to grab the hammer that Clementine offered him with a frighted “Here!”. As soon as he grabbed the hammer and turned around again, the corpse was on top of him again.
Twilight fired another beam of magic at the corpse which caused it to be stunned for a second. Lee took that second to swing the hamer the head of the beast, which made contact.It fell to the ground the beside him and Lee qiuckly stood up and stepped on the chest of the snarling human to keep it down. Lee proceed to bash its head in four powered swings. The last swing caused the hammer to get stuck in the head of the now dead corpse. Lee responded to this by jerking the hammer a few time until it came free. Twilight had to look away from the scene before her. She was gagging from the smell the body was now giving off.
“Man…”,Lee groaned,”Hi there.”
Clementine slowly backed away from the pool of blood forming at her feet.”Did you kill it?”
“I think something else did. Before me.”
“Sometimes they come back.”
That sentence caused Twilight's eyes to widen. Come back?
Her eyes widened even more when the girl spotted her. Lee caught her gaze and turned around himself and follow the gaze to the purple pony and the little dragon standing behind said pony.
“Uhh….hi?”
Ep. 1 - Chapter 3 - The Farm
"...hi..." Lee said, eyes wide.
"...you're not...freaking out?" Twilight asked, somewhat surprised.
"Considering ive been chased about by a bunch of corpses and had one come back to life right in front of me... I guess it's just the shock."
"Ok then, well my name is Twilight Sparkle and this is Spike." Twilight said, pointing to herself and to Spike.
"Lee, and this is Clementine." Lee said, pointing a thumb to the girl behind him, while Clementine hid behind one of Lee's legs and shyly waved to Twilight and Spike.
Twilight waved back with a small smile on her face, "Nice to meet you both."
Lee then remembered a more serious matter at hand. He turned around to face Clementine and kneeled down to her height.
"You've been all by yourself though this?"
"Yeah, I want my parents to come home now."
Lee remembered the messages on the phone and turned to twilight, who nodded her head to confirm that she heard the messages as well."
"I uh, think that might be a little while. You know?"
"Oh." Clem responded, disappointed.
"Look, I don't know what happened. But Twilight and I will look after you 'till then." Twilight nodded her head to show Clem she agreed.
"Okay... what should we do now?"
Lee thought for a second before saying," We need to find help before It gets dark."
"Yeah, It's not safe at night."
"I agree." Lee heard Twilight say from behind him.
"Ok. Lets go. Stay close to me." Lee informed Clem.
"Same go's for you Spike, stay close."
"Got it." Spike said.
They all walked outside on the deck and Lee stopped when he noticed Clem had stopped and was looking at her house. She quickly closed the door and turned back around. The four of them walked around the house to a gate on the side of the house.
They saw two men trying to push themselves a clear path, but appeared to be struggling.
"I ain't never gettin home to mama at this rate."
"This sucks."
"It's hot dish night."
Lee turned to Clem, who was once again stopped and looking back at her house.
"Hey Clem, what's wrong?" Twilight asked.
"Should I stay?"
"What?" Twilight and Lee asked at the same time.
"I don't want to sleep in the tree house tonight, but I don't know if I should go. What if my parents come home?"
Lee looked to Twilight and Twilight looked at Lee.
"We wont leave you alone." Twilight said, looking back at Clem.
Clem smiled, "Lets go someplace that's close. Ok?"
Lee nodded and stood back up and started limping toward the gate, which Twilight opened with her magic. Lee nodded a quick thanks before addressing the two strangers.
"Hey man!" Lee called out.
"Holy shit!"
"Don't eat us!"
"Were not going to hurt you." Lee said putting his hands in front of him.
"Phew, for a second there we thought you and the little one were BOTH going...to..." He trailed out when he noticed Twilight and Spike. His friend soon followed.
The man looked back at Lee, who just shrugged.
"Umm...ok then."
"Do you have any idea what the hell this is?!" Lee ask in a quiet scream.
"No idea, so you've seen them then?" Shawn asked, turning his hand to a body of one of walkers. It was the same body Twilight saw when she first appeared.
"You could say that." Lee answered
"My names Shawn, Shawn Greene."
"Lee, this is Clementine, Twilight, and Spike." Lee said while pointing to each of them as he called their names.
The other man with Shawn kneeled down," I'm Chet." He said, waving at Clem. Clem responded by hiding behind Lee's legs. Much like she did with Twilight and Spike.
"We shouldn't be out in the open like this. Tell you what, if you help us clear a path for our truck, we'll take you, your daughter, and your friends down my family's farm. It should safe there."
"I'm not her dad I'm... just some guy." Lee said to Shawn.
"Some guy?" Shawn asked, eyebrow raised.
"Yeah."
"She's alone?"
"Sadly yes, but we're looking after her until we find her parents." Twilight spoke.
Shawn smiled," That's good to hear... we should get going before more of those things show up."
Lee looked down to Clem,"What do you want to do?"
Clem seemed hesitant and looked back at her house," I...", she looked back at Lee with a nod.
"We got monsters coming!" Chet informed the group. Sure enough, more of the dead were stumbling in their direction.
"Shit! We gotta go!", Shawn got down in a pushing position," Lee, lets go!"
Lee limp forward and got in a pushing position as well. The two of them started to push the car out of the way. After a few seconds, Clem and Twilight ran over and helped them push the rest of the way.
Once the road was clear, they all ran back to Shawn's truck and hopped in. Lee and Clem in the front with Shawn, who was driving, and Chet, Twilight, and Spike in the bed of the truck. Shawn pressed the gas pedal once he made sure everyone was in and sped off just as the first snarling corpse reached it.
"For just some guy, it seems like you've saved a look of lives today." Shawn said as they drove off.
Clem was looking out the back widow at her house. She wasn't going to see it anytime soon.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was dark by the time the group made it to the farm. The ride there was quiet with little conversations her and there.
Eventually, they arrived at the farm and pulled up near the front of the house. They all exited the truck.
"Hey Shawn, i'm gonna run on home. My mamas gonna be in a snit." Chet said.
"No sweat man. I'll catch you tomorrow night."
He nodded his head and turned to Lee, Clem, Twilight and Spike,"It was nice to was nice to meet you all." He said as he walked off.
They soon heard a door open and turned around to see a old man step out off the house.
"Thank god, your ok." The man said as he walked over to Shawn and gave him a hug.
"I was worried It'd be bad here to." Shawn said, returning the hug.
"Been quiet the past couple of days. Ol'Breckon down the way thinks his main's gone lame, but that's nothing new."
"I've wouldn't have made it back without Chet."
"Well then, I'm glad you took him with you then."
He turned towards Lee.
"You've brought a couple guest." He noticed Twilight,"...what... the... hell... is... that?"
Twilight didn't like the fact that she was called a thing, and sent a glare in Hershel's directions.
"That's Twilight and Spike. They helped me and Chet get back along with Lee."
"........ok then." He kept a watchful eye of them.
"Your boys a lifesaver." Lee spoke up.
"Glad he could be some help to somebody, so, it's just you, your daughter, and your friends."
"Oh, not his daughter, he's just... some guy that found her alone."
"Honey, do you know this man?" Hershel asked, kneeling down to Clem's height.
"Yes."
"Ok then. Well it looks like you hurt your leg pretty badly there." He said to Lee.
"Yeah, it's not doing so good."
"I can help you out. Shawn, run in and check on your sister. You, take a seat of the porch and I'll go see what I have."
Lee nodded his thanks and walked on the porch and took a seat on a bench that was at the end of the porch. Twilight and Spike stayed off the porch. Instead, they walked up and stood next to the porch next to where Lee was seating.
Hershel walked back out with some gauze wrap and looked at Clem for a second before his head turned back to Lee and he walked over.
"Lets have a look, yeah, this is swollen to hell" he said while examining Lee's wound.
"It HURTS like hell."
"I bet it does. What'd you say your name was?"
"It's Lee"
"Nice to meet you Lee, I'm Hershel Greene."
Hershel started to wrap Lee's leg, causing him to squeeze his eyes in pain.
"How'd this happen?" Hershel asked.
"Car accident."
"That so? Where were you headed? Before the crash."
"Home."
Twilight smiled to herself when she heard that. It was a sad smile.
"Where's home?"
"I grew up in Macon. We hit a guy, one of those things you've been hearing about, on the road."
"Who were you with? The girl? The pony?"
"I was with a police officer, he was giving me a ride."
"Awful nice of him."
"I'm an awful nice guy." Lee joked.
"The house is full up with mine. We've got another displaced family sleeping in barn, you and your friends are welcomed to sleep there," He turned to Clem,"I didn't catch your name darling."
"Clem- Clementine."
"Can't imagine what you've been through Clementine."
"Twilight and I are looking after her until we find her parents."Lee informed Hershel as Shawn walked back out the house.
"Hey dad, so I was thinking, first thing tomorrow we gotta reinforce the fence around the farm."
"That doesn't seem necessary."
"I don't know what you saw on TV or heard on the radio, but there is some serious SHIT hitting the fan. I don't think anyone knows how big it is yet."
"Your son's right, you're going to want to fortify this place." Lee said. Twilight agreed.
"Stuff like that doesn't happen around here, Shawn."
"Dad, I'm serious! Lee, tell him what you saw out there."
"Teenage girl with her guts spilled out on the ground stood up from the dead and tried to bite me."Lee explained like he was telling a ghost story.
"Well do what you think you should. We got plenty of chores as it is." Hershel caved in.
"Lee and his friends and those folks in the barn can help out in the morning, he gotta do it, really."
"I already said ok,"He turned back to Lee,"Well, I'm all done here. It should start to fell better tomorrow."
"Thanks."
"If your leg gets hot or if the swelling doesn't go down, you might be dealing with an infection."
"What do we do then?" Twilight asked.
He turn to Twilight,"We might just have to shoot him."
Everyone's eyes widened while Lee's filled with worry.
"We'll clean it, redress it, and you'll be fine."
Everyone calmed down.
"Ok, that'd be preferable." Lee said.
"There's blankets and such in the barn. We'll be seeing you bright and early. Come tomorrow which way you think your headed?"
"Towards Macon I suppose."
Hershel nodded and turned to head inside, but not before casting another look at Clem and Twilight.
They walked toward the barn and laid down on the beds provided.
Lee was lying on the ground with Clem to his left and Twilight to his right, with Spike next to her already passed out.
"It smells like... doo-dee."
Lee smiled at Clem," Yeah it does smell like doo-dee."
Twilight could barely hold her giggles in. Still, Lee heard her, but ignored her.
There was a short pause.
"I miss my mom and dad."
"I bet Clem."Twilight spoke up.
"How far is Savannah?" Clem asked.
"Pretty far." Lee answered since he knew Twilight didn't know her way around.
"Oh, ok." Clem closed her eyes.
Lee looked over to Twilight, who was looking down at Spike with a sad look.
"Are you two family?"
"Yeah, sort of. We're not related, of course, but i did hatch him. It was kind of an accident, but I might as well be his mother. I bet he looks at me like that some times. With what I've seen today... I just want him to stay safe."
"I'll help you make sure of that."
Twilight smiled," Thanks Lee, that means a lot."
"Another thing, I never did thank you for saving me at Clem's house."
"No problem Lee, friends look out for each other."
"Yeah, they do."
"Goodnight Lee."
"Goodnight."
With that, all of them fell asleep. Lee was woken up once by a nightmare of THAT day, but fell back asleep shortly after.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Hey, get up."
Lee opened his eyes and sat up to see a new face.
"I'm itchy." he heard Clementine say.
"Well you slept in a barn little lady. Your lucky you dont have spiders in your hair."
That response caused Clem to gasp and look up at her hair.
"But I bet your daddy scared them all away, huh."
"I'm, not her dad. Name's Lee."
"I'm Kenny."
All of a sudden, a kid around Clem's age appeared at the door.
"Dad, we're going to build a fence! There's a tractor and everything!" He said before he ran off.
The kids father looked back at Lee,"We better get going, or we won't hear the end of it."
On the way out, Lee noticed that Twilight's and Spike's bed were empty. They must've woken up earlier. In that case, she most likely already met kenny and his family.
"That's my boy, Ken Jr., we call him Duck though."
"Dodging or quacking?" Lee joked.
"Quacking."
As if on cue, duck yelled,"Daaaad!"
"See."
Duck was talking to what Lee assumed was his mother. He also noticed Twilight sitting on her haunches next to the women with Spike sitting in between her legs. So Lee was right about them already meeting each other.
"Word is you were on your way to Macon." Kenny said.
"My family's from there." Lee replied.
"Well, Macon's on the way and personally I'd appreciate the company of a guy who can knock a couple of heads together if he has to."
"Sure, we'll tag along. That ok with with you, Twilight?"
"Yeah, it's fine."
"Great, it's a plan then. Honey, Duck, this is Lee and what was the girls name?"
"Clementine." Lee informed Kenny.
"Clementine."
"That is a very pretty name." Katjaa said.
"Thanks."
"Well, we should get to work, we've all seen what those things can do out there, so the faster we get this fence up, the better." Shawn said, walking into the discussion.
"I want to build a fence!" Duck said, very hyperly.
"Yeah? Well, I need a good forman. you can sit on the tractor and yell at me whenever I take a water break." Shawn said to Duck.
"On a tractor? Cool!"
"Duck and I will hop to it." Shawn said as they both walked off.
"Twi, can I go help them?" Spike asked.
"Of course, just be careful." Twilight answered him.
Spike got up and walked off.
"I can keep an eye on your little girl here on the porch. We can visit." Katjaa said.
Clem walked over and sat down next to Katjaa.
"Hey Kenny, can you teach me about your truck a little." Twilight said.
"Sure, come on."
Twilight stood up and walked off with kenny.
Lee walked off to where Shawn, Duck, and Spike went. When he got there he saw Shawn working on the fence, Duck on the tractor, and Spike on the front of the tractor talking to Duck.
He walked over to Shawn and he noticed his presence.
"Hey Lee."
"Need a hand?"
"That'd be great. If you can those two-bys to length, that sure speed things up."
Lee saw a cutting stand and walked over and began cutting the wood.
"My dad doesn't know how bad it is." Shawn said.
"No, he doesn't."
"I saw a guy in Atlanta kill a kid. A boy. Just shot him right in the face."
"Was the boy one of the walkers?" Lee asked.
"I don't even know. He was either attacking the guy or asking for help. He didn't even hesitant, he just turned, put the barrel of the gun between the kids eye's, and pulled the trigger. You don't saw hings like that, its not like in the movies.
"They don't fall like you think."
"Did you have to do it?"
"Do what?"Lee asked, confused.
"Kill. Have you hacked one off yet?"
"Oh uhh... I bashed a poor girls brains in."
"Whoa, I couldn't do that. I'm just glad were getting this fence built. Dad just wants to keep the family safe and thinks inviting people in is a bigger threat then whatever's out there. How bout yours? How's your family?"
"My parents and brother are in Macon, I hope."
"Oh man, I hope so too. Maybe it's not so bad there."
Lee finished the broad he was cutting and as he was reaching for the next one, Shawn stopped him.
"That's probably all you need to cut for now, thanks."
With that, Lee walked off. He walked over to where Clem and Katjaa were sitting.
"Hey there girls. You two actually look relaxed."
"Were doing just fine. Clementine was just telling about first grade." Katjaa said to Lee.
"Oh, how's that?" Lee asked Clem.
"It's easy."
"We'll yeah, so you're good?"
"Anyway, it's almost like we haven't seen people eating each other for the past three days. It's peaceful here, no?"
"Back in a bit."
"Ok, Lee."
Lee walked over to Kenny and Twilight next.
"Hey there, uh, Kenny. Twilight."
"Hey Lee." Twilight greeted.
"Need any help?"
"No I think I got it. Do YOU need any help?" Kenny said to Lee.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean with taking care of that little girl. You know what you're doing? Either of you have kids of your own?"
"I have some experience with Spike, if that counts."
"Yeah, that counts. Lee?"
"I have no idea what i'm doing."
"At least your honest, hell, better then I was when Duck came along. You'll figure it out."
"See ya."
Lee noticed Hershel in the barn and decided to go talk to him as well.
When Hershel noticed Lee he glanced up at him before asking,"How'd you get out of Atlanta?"
"...I got a ride and then I was in a wreck. I walked until your boy found me."
"This farms a nice plot of land."
"Heh, you told me 20 years ago that I still be doing this, I'd would've told you that you'll full of crap. Never was the plan, having a place ike this. It was in the family and I guess so was I. Family's important. It's all that matters, you agree?"
"Was brought up to, yes."
"Where's your family now? Parents? Wife? Girlfriend?"
"My parents are in Macon, with my brother."
"Well I hope there alright."
But now you've got this little girl to take care of, Clementine was it? You just stumbled up on her?"
"I was being attacked and she came to my rescue. That was also When I meant Twilight and Spike."
Hershel looked up and huffed right before he put the pitch fork in the ground and walked towards Lee.
"Can I give you a piece of advice?"
"Sure."
"I don't know who you are or what you did. Lets say that things don't get better back in the city, or they get worse before they do. You're going to have to depend on the honesty of strangers if you're going to make it. And if those same people get to questioning yours, your going to be in trouble. But atleast you have the common sense to listen to a man giving you advice."
Lee nodded and walked out of the barn. He figured that Shawn might need his help again, but as he began walking over, he saw Shawn running over with Duck and Spike close behind. Everyone noticed this and came over to meet them. Twilight, Kenny, and Hershel being the most worried.
"Shawn, you ok!?"
"Duck, are you alright!?"
"Spike, are you ok!?"
A series of three good's were heard before Shawn started explaining.
"There were some walkers back there approaching the fence. Luckily, Spike saw them before they got to close."
"Nice job Spike." Twilight praised as she picked him up with her magic and brought him to her face to nuzzle him. Much to his embarrassment.
"How many are there?"
"Three that I saw."
"Okay, I'll get my gun." Hershel said as he ran inside the house."
"I got my truck working again. Lee, you and Clem along with your friends are still welcomed to come along."
"Yeah, su-"
Lee was cut off when he heard a snapping sound followed by growling.
"I think they broke in." Shawn said.
Sure enough, three walkers rounded the corner and once they spotted the group, they began snarling and limping there way over.
Unfortunately for them, Hershel came out of the house with a shotgun in hands. He took aim at the walker that noticed him, he fired and the the round made contact with its head, causing it to jerk backwards before it collasped. The other two heard the shot and turned to the source of said noise, only to end up like their undead friend.
After the walkers were dead a second time, the group helped Hershel and Shawn get rid of the bodies and repair the area of the fence the walkers broke in, the group said their goodbye's, loaded up in Kenny's pickup truck, and started their towards Macon.
Ep. 1 - Chapter 4 - Welcome to Macon
It was sometime into the afternoon when the group reached Macon. Much like everywhere else, the town was completely empty and deprived of life. It seems like everyone got out in a hurry.
'The ones who were alive anyway.' Twilight thought before she was jerked out of her thoughts by the lack of movement from the truck.
"Well, this is as far as we're going." She heard Kenny say from inside the truck.
"Then it's far enough." That was Lee's voice.
Everyone started getting out of the truck. Twilight was confused.
"Hey Lee, why are we stopped?"
"Truck's out of gas. We aren't going anywhere unless we get some more."
Twilight nodded her head to show her understanding. truth be told, she didn't fully understand. Kenny could only teach her so much at the farm.
She hopped out of the bed of the truck and used her magic to lift Spike onto the ground beside her. She turned her head to see her companions getting ready to walk, so she walked over to them as they started walking.
Kenny, Katjaa, Duck, Lee, Clementine, Spike, and Twilight walked down the empty streets of Macon. As they rounded the corner Twilight saw a giant sign that read "Drugs" on the top of a building. She figured it was some kind of shop or store. She looked over to see Lee staring at the same sign with a face that showed sadness.
"Lee? You okay?" Twilight asked her friend.
"Huh? Oh, um, yeah, I'm fine."
Twilight wasn't stupid. She could tell that something was bothering Lee, but did press the issue.
"Look!"
Twilight turned her head to see Duck pointing down the street. He must've seen something. Twilight walked over to Duck and saw what it was that Duck saw. There was a figure crouched down behind a car.
"Hey there! You friendly? Trucks run outta gas." Kenny called out to the figure.
"Kenny, are you sure that's a good idea?" Twilight asked.
It was not a good idea. The figure turned around to reveal that the man was a walker feasting on what was a living human.
"Fuck!" Kenny shouted, realizing now how stupid his course of action was.
Soon, more walkers seemed to appear out of nowhere and soon the group was surrounded.
"We're Trapped!" Katjaa yelled.
At that moment, a scream pierced the air. Two screams.
Everyone turned their heads toward the screaming to see a walker approaching Duck and Spike.
"Spike!" Twilight used her magic to pull Spike away from the walker. Instead, the walker went for Duck.
"Duck!" Kenny yelled.
Twilight immediately jumped into action, since Duck was in danger because of her actions. She ran forward, turned, and bucked the walker with all her strength. This gave Duck enough time to run away. But this put Twilight in danger. The walker, although it stumbled back a little, quickly recovered and tackled Twilight to the ground.
"Twilight!" Spike yelled.
Twilight quickly turned over and pressed her hooves to the walker's shoulders to stop it from reaching her neck. She was keeping it at bay, but was quickly losing her strength. Just as the walker was about to reach its target, I loud bang cracked though the air and the walker's head snapped to the side before it fell limp onto Twilight. Lee ran over and pulled the body off of Twilight and helped her up. Once Twilight was standing on all four hoofs, she looked up and spotted two more humans, one of them holding what she assumed was another gun, though this one was a lot smaller.
"Run!" The other human yelled, while the other one shot at an approaching walker that got a little to close. Its head snapped back as it fell to the ground.
Twilight ran to the door where all the others were and did not hesitate to run inside with the others. One of the humans closed the gate around the doors of the store and locked it with a simple combo lock, before running inside as the first walker started banging against the gate.
Inside the store, there were three other humans, and two of them did not look happy. Twilight trotted over to a snack bar area and sat down. She noticed some paper towels on the counter and stared using some to clean all the blood that splattered onto her when the walker was killed.
She looked over to the group and found that they were in a heated argument between the other group.
"We can't take risk like this!" Said a women in a black tank top.
"And we can't let people die either!" said the woman with the gun.
"When I say "that door stays no matter what" I fucking mean it! We don't who these people are! They could dangerous!"
"Or worse, they could've led them right them us!" said an older man.
"Where the hell is your humanity? They would've died out there!" The women with the gun yelled at the older man.
"Then we let them."
"We're not dangerous. We're just regular folks." Lee spoke up.
"What's DANGEROUS is a bunch of people running outside and drawing their attention!" The women the black shot back.
"Lee's right, we're just regular folks, but we actually like helping people." Kenny spoke up this time, defending Lee.
"You'll have to excuse her." The women with the gun said to the new people.
"The hell he, or anyone will. This is about SURVIVAL. Do you guys not see whats happening?!"
Lee felt something grab his hand, he looked down to see Clementine had grabbed it.
"What is it?"
"I... I have to pee."
"Then just go!" Lee said to Clem, a bit harsher then he intended it to be.
Clem looked down and started walking toward the bathroom.
"They have kids Lily!" An asian man said.
"Those things outside don't care!" The women named Lily said.
"Maybe you should go join them, you'll have something in common!" Kenny said to Lily.
"God damnit Lily, you have to control these people!" The old man said.
"Carley and Glenn just ran out there!"Lily shot back.
"She's not wrong, they took a risk." Lee added.
"Yes, we did."
"And we appreciate it. Now lets settle down."
"Holy shit. Son of a bitch. That thing they had with them is bitten!" The old man said, pointing to Twilight.
"She wasn't bitten!" Lee defended Twilight.
"Hell it wasn't! We have to end this now." The man said, moving over to Twilight.
"No! Stop! You can't!" Spike yelled, getting in front of Twilight.
The man wasn't even fazed by the fact that there was a talking dragon in front of him. Unlike everyone else, who didn't move. Lee and Kenny, who already knew Twilight and Spike, rushed in to help. They both owed her. Lee owed her for saving his life at Clem's house and Kenny owed her for saving Duck a few minutes ago.
"You're not touching her." Lee stated, stepping in front of Twilight, as did Kenny.
Twilight looked up at them with thankful eyes before saying,"I'm not bitten. I'm fine."
"Don't you fucking people get it!? We've already seen this happen! We let someone with a bite stay and we all end up bitten!"
"Shut up! We already told you she's not bitten!" Kenny yelled at the man while glaring daggers him.
"We gotta throw it out, or smash its head in!" The man said like it was no big deal, ignoring Lee and Kenny.
"NO!" Twilight yelled, absolutely terrified that someone would even suggest that.
"Lee, what do we do about this guy?" Kenny asked his friend.
"We reason with him."
"There's no reasoning with this asshole."
"Everyone CHILL THE FUCK OUT!" Carly shouted at the top of his lugs.
"Nobody's doing anything!" Lily shot back at Carley.
"Shut up Lily! And YOU,"He turned to Carley," shut the fuck up. They will find us and they will get in here and none of this will FUCKING matter. But right now, we're about to be trapped in her with one of those things!" The man shouted.
"The hell you talking about?" Kenny asked, already know the answer.
"It's bitten! That's how you turn!"
"I'm not bitten! Twilight shouted. Everyone ignored her.
"She's not even human! Even if she was bitten, which she's not, how do you if she'll even turn?"
"I'm not taking chances!"
"Your not touching her!" Spike yelled, hugging Twilight.
"And your gonna stop me?"
"Lee?" Lee heard Clementine called his name.
"Yeah?
"There's someone in there."
"it's just locked, keys behind the counter. Probably."
"Hey, I'm not the bad guy here. I'm just looking out for my daughter." The man tried to defend himself.
"No, you're just the guy arguing over killing an innocent girl."
"That GIRL isn't even a GIRL! And like it or not that thing is bitten!"
"She isn't!"
"It is! And we're tossing it out NOW!"
"No! You don't touch her! You don't touch anybody! I've got a little girl i'm trying to protect, Kenny has his son, and Twilight has her friend! We all have people we're trying to protect. You want to get violet you old fuck? WELL COME ON! YOU BETTER HAVE A PLAN TO KILL ME THOUGH, BECAUSE IT'S ME! BEFORE ANYONE ELSE IN HERE!" Lee shouted as he got right in front of the man.
Twilight could not be more thankful that her friend had her back.
Not a second later, there was a scream broke though the air. Everyone turned their heads to see a walker jump out from the bathroom in front of Clem, who was the one who scearmed.
"Jesus!" The old man screamed.
"CLEMENTINE!" Lee yelled as he rushed though the crowd of people, but bumped into Lily, which caused him to fall to the ground and hit his head on the ground rather harshly. It took him a second to get his senses back. When he did, he ran toward Clem and grabbed the walker.
"Get away from her you son of a bitch!" Lee yelled as he threw the walker off of Clem. Unfortunately, the walker spun around and attacked Lee. Lee would've been dead If Carley hadn't shot the walker on top of Lee.
"You okay?"
"Just fine thanks."
"Uh, guys?" Glenn said as the walkers outside started banging on the walls, desperately trying to get to their next meal.
"Everybody get down! Stay down!" Lily ordered. The group didn't hesitant to follow her orders.
The old man peaked over the counter,"There gotta get in."
"Shut up!" Kenny shushed the man.
At the moment, there were a series of gunshots outside. The banging on the walls slowly ceased.
"Is that the military?" Lee asked while Clem was griping is pants leg.
"I don't know." Lily answered truthfully.
"Thank god for whatever it is." Glenn added.
The old man was not happy.
"We almost died because of this bitch and her itchy trigger finger. That was stupid! That wa- AHHHHHHH!" The man scearmed as he fell to the ground. His hand was gripped over is heart.
"Dad!" Lily yelled, running over to her father.
"What's wrong with him!?" Lee asked.
"It's his heart."
"My pills..." The man groaned.
"Oh, uhh... Nitroglycerin pills?" Katjaa asked.
"Yes, we're out. We've been trying to get into the pharmacy since we got here. Please get in there. Behind the counter where the pills are!"
"We'll get in there somehow." Lee reassured her.
"Thank you so much. We need Nitroglycerin pills. PLease get in there. I'll keep an eye on my dad." Lily said, thankful.
"Every else should get comfy and look for anything useful. We could be here for a while." Kenny announced.
"I'm starting to think that this drug store isn't a permanent solution." Glenn said.
"You're right. This ain't exactly Fort Knox."
"What do you suggest?" Lee asked Glenn.
"We need as much gas as possible so we can all get out of downtown Macon, fast."
"Agreed."
"Then I'll head out and get gas. There's a motel not far from here. We had a guy go down there to look for stuff we could use before you all showed up, but he hasn't come back. So, I'll go get him and look for gas on the way."
"Damn, that'd be great."
"Well its gotta get done. Plus, I'm quick, and I know Macon."
"You local?"
Glenn smiled,"Born and raised."
"If you're gonna do that, here's a walkie-talkie in case you get in a tight spot. Hopefully, you won't need it."
"Cool."
"Clementine has the other one. Check in with her and get back here as soon has you can."
"And you, what's your name?" Kenny spoke to Lily.
"Lily, my dad's Larry."
"Keep an eye on him. These boys will work on getting you your medicine."
''That's right." Lee confirmed.
"And you keep an eye on that front door, you're our look-out."
"It's Doug, you got it."
"And I'm Carley."
"Okay Carley, you'll shift in with Doug when he needs it. For now get some rest. You're a good shot, I'd like to keep it that way."
"You got it boss."
"Twilight, you can take watch if you're up for it, but just take it easy for now."
"Okay."
"Now get him those pills..."
Ep. 1 - Chapter 5 - The Motel
Now that the talking, auguments, and roll call were finished, Lee went to check on Twilight, who was currently sitting at the snack bar beside Kenny and his family.
"Hey Twilight. How you doing?"
"I... how can anypony say that? He said it like he'd done it before."
"I don't know why. Some people are just like that. Sadly."
"To answer your question... I'm fine. We're fine,"Twilight quickly added, gestering to Spike,"or as fine as anypony can be in this position."
"Yeah... It's not so good out there. We just have to hope that Glenn can get some gas, as well as get that other guy he was talking about, so all we can do is wait.
"Yeah... what do you think caused those... things outside."
"I have no clue. To me, It's just the dead are up walking around."
Lee got up to walk away to check on someone else when Twilight stopped him.
"Lee?"
Lee stopped walking and turned back toward Twilight."Yeah?"
"Thanks... for defending me back there. You too Kenny." Twilight said the last part to Kenny, who nodded his head at her.
Lee nodded his head to her as well for walking over to Clementine. On the way over, he grabbed a energy bar that was on the ground near an ATM machine.
"Hey there." Lee said as he kneeled down to Clem's height.
"Hi."
"It's not much but here ya go." Lee gave the energy bar to Clem.
"Thank you."
"Of course. Well, sit tight." Lee said as he stood up.
"Ok."
Lee then walked over to check on Larry.
"How's he doing?"
"I'm not sure I got your name." Lily quickly said to Lee, glaring at him.
"It's Lee."
"Lily, my dad's Larry."
Out of the corner of Lee's eye, he saw Larry casting a glare at him before looking back down at the floor.
"I was just doing what I had to earlier." Lily said, referring to when they first arrived.
"Everyone was."
"Now his heart's acting up, and I'm powerless to do anything. And that violence before with my dad. That didn't help."
"What's wrong with him." Lee asked, gesturing to Larry.
"He's got a heart condition. He takes nitroglycerin pills pretty regularly, but I've seen a few bad attacks he couldn't get over and needed to go to the hospital."
"Yeah that's... not really a option right now."
"I'm just trying to keep him clam."
"I understand... What do you think about all of this."
"What is there to think? The dead are up, walking around, eating people, and turning them into more... more of THEM. I mean Jesus."
"We need to stick together and get though this. Was there anybody here when you guys got here?" Lee wanted to receive any information he could on his families whereabouts.
"No, this place was pretty wrecked. We pulled a couple bodies out of the office."
At the of mention of this, Lee knew exactly who the bodies were, and his face went from shock to sadness.
Lily notice the look on his face."Are you ok?"
"Yeah, I'm fine." Lee answer after a second.
"Did you know anyone here?"
"Yeah... the owners. They were... we were close."
"I'm sorry. We found a older couple in the back. Dad hauled them out incase they weren't really dead."
Lee said nothing and made a motion to leave.
"I'm going to get back to him." Lily said, crouching down to her father.
"Sounds good."
With the new information, Lee wanted to go to the office where Lily said they pulled the bodies from. He walked over to the office door. The door had a note on the front that had the words "ALIVE INSIDE" written on it. Lee doubted that was still true. He heard two sets of foot-steps behind him. Well, one set of foot-steps and a set of hoof-steps. Lee turned around to see Twilight and Clementine approaching him.
"Can we come with?"
"Sure." Lee didn't see a reason not to let them come with him.
Lee turned back around a grasped the doorknob and gave it a turn. The door slowly opened to reveal a very blood soaked sleeping bag in the middle of the room.
Lee walked over to the sleeping bag and looked over it with a sad look on his face.
"I can't... I can't think about them in here." Lee mumbled to himself.
Twilight heard what he said, but didn't say anything.
Lee noticed that the pharmacy door on the other side of the room was barricaded, and moved over to clear a path for when they found the keys for the door when Twilight spoke up from behind him.
"Lee, is this you?"
Lee turned around to see Twilight looking at a photo on the ground. Lee walked over and looked down at the photo.
Sure enough, this WAS a photo of him. Lee remembered taking this photo, out in front of the store when things were still... normal. This photo was taken when his family first opened up the drug store years ago.
The photo showed him wearing a white suit and a black tie accompanying it. On his right beside him stood his mom wearing a purplish-pink dress. Beside his mom was his dad wearing a suit as well, but his being black instead of white like Lee's. On the end was his brother, Bud Everett, wearing his pharmacy uniform.
Twilight but the pieces together quickly when Lee didn't respond.
"This is a picture of your family."
"Yeah...,' Lee said,"My parents and my brother."
Lee then looked at the sleeping bag that had a alarming amount of blood on it.
"My parents came in here hoping to survive... but it looks like one of them was hurt. Wander if it my dad, heh, probably trying to be a hero, or to protect her at least.
"Maybe they're ok?" Twilight tried to keep Lee's hope's up.
"No, they're not. I talked to Lily before we came in here. They said that they pulled a older couple of bodies from in here. They're... dead."
Twilight didn't say anything.
Lee stood up, took one look at the sleeping bag, and turned back toward the door to the pharmacy.
"We should probably clear a path to this door for when we find the keys." Lee said as he approached the door.
"Can I help?" Lee turned his head to see Clementine standing beside him.
"Sure. Just let me move this pallet."
Lee gripped the wooden pallet that was leaning against the desk in front of the door and lifted it up. When he did so, a wooden cane fell to the floor.
Lee pushed the pallet against the wall a few feet away and then moved to pick up the cane. He smiled when he did so.
"What's that?" Clem asked from beside him.
"This was my dad's cane. He'd zip around here on it from time to time."
"Was he sick?"
"Nah, he was alright. I actually saw him whoop shoplifters with it. Heh, this cane's protected this place better than any guard dog ever could. Plus, he knew how to make it look cool. Like you and your hat."
"My dad gave it to me."
"See? Dad's are smart like that. Okay, back to the desk. Clem, if you're still up for helping..."
"Yes!"
"I can push from behind." Twilight said.
"That would be helpful. Okay Clem, here we go, watch your fingers in the drawers." Lee told Clementine.
The three of them proceeded to move the desk away from the door, leaving enough room for Twilight to squeeze in behind the desk to help push.
"Things have been scary, huh?" Lee asked.
"Yeah, It's not good." Clem responded.
"No, it's not." Lee agreed.
"Maybe things here will go back to normal?" Twilight said, trying to stay positive.
"I hope so. Okay here we go." Lee said as they began moving the desk again.
They started to move the desk further back. Once it was far enough, Lee decided to start turning the desk so he could push it against the wall to his right.
When Lee started to turn the desk around to face the wall, Clem asked,"Do you have kids?"
"No."
"You don't have a family?"
Twilight looked to Lee as soon as Clementine asked that question, and saw that Lee had a hurt look on his face.
"...Let's just move this thing." Was Lee's reply.
"Oh, Okay. i'm sorry."
"It's fine. Alright just a little further." Lee said as he, Clem, and Twilight turned the desk around so that it facing the wall they wanted to push it against.
But before they could push it to the wall, Clem asked Lee,"Why don't you want to talk about your family? Do they like, hate you?"
"Clem I-"Twilight started, but was cut off by Lee.
"Because they're dead."
"Oh... I'm sorry."
"You didn't know."
"I'm just sorry for being mean."
"Look, my family is gone and I just wish things were different."
"Yeah..."
"I'm not a bad guy, okay? Things happened and... we didn't talk much after that."
"My parents don't talk to me when I get in trouble."
"I can relate."
Clem, having been satisfied with the conversation, got back in position to finish pushing the desk. They pushed one finale time to get the desk against the wall, but when the desk hit the wall, one of the drawers of the desk cut her finger, since Clem wasn't paying attention to where her hand was like Lee had told her to.
"Ow!"
Lee and Twilight's heads perked up when they heard Clem's cry of pain.
"Clem, are you okay?" Twilight asked her.
"I hurt my finger..."
"Is it bleeding?"
"A little."
Lee walked over and picked her up and sat her on the desk."We'll find you a bandage. Twilight, can you look in the drug store for a bandage?"
"On it." Twilight said as she raced back into the drug store.
As Twilight did this, Lee knelled down to inspect Clem's finger.
"Let's have a look at that finger,"Lee took Clementine's left hand and began inspecting the cut. The cut was on the index finger right beside her nail,"Ow..." Lee felt her pain by just looking at it.
"It hurt!" Clem said as Lee put pressure on the wound.
"Let's see If we can do something about it." Lee said as he checked the drawer of the desk. Nothing useful was in the drawer, but Lee did see something that caught his attention.
"It's the remote to me dad's TV." Lee said as he picked it up. He tried to turn on the TV in the office, but it was nothing but static."That's what I figured." He turned it back off and went back to looking for a bandage, but he did keep the remote.
Lee was about to walk into the drug store to help Twilight look for a bandage when he spotted a first aid kit on another desk. He smiled to himself. He felt stupid for missing that and was sure that Twilight would feel stupid as well.
He walked over to it, opened the lid and started to search the contents of the box when he heard Clem talk form behind him.
"Lee?"
"Yeah?"
"What if my parents come home and I'm not there?"
"They'll... track as down. Don't worry."
"Okay, I've got my walkie-talkie in case they try that way."
"Stay close to me or Twilight until then, okay?"
Clem nodded her head. Lee found a bandage in the kit and closed the lid of it and before walking back over to Clem.
"Let's get this cut covered up."
"Yes please."
Lee proceeded to bandage the finger of Clementine. She only winced once to pain because Lee had to wrap the cut tightly to stop the bleeding.
Once done, Clem and Lee smiled at each other. Lee walked toward the door to tell Twilight he had found a bandage when he noticed the picture of his family from before. He walked over and picked up the photo from the broken photo stand and lifted it up to his face. He smiled when he remembered the old times, but the smile vanish when he remembered the fate of his family and he tore the photo down so that he was removed from the photo. He put the half that had his family in his pocket when he heard a voice behind him.
"Find anything?"
Lee turned around to find Carly starting at him. He drop the photo that had him on it and said,"Just a photo of whoever was here."
"I know who you are." Carly said without miss a beat. Lee give her a look."You're Lee Everett. You're a professor at Athens who killed a state senator who was sleeping with your wife. This is your parent's store. People around here knew the owners son got himself a life sentence, But I'm a reporter for WABE in Atlanta. I paid attention to that trail. Maybe you're murderer, but I don't really care. Frankly that's a skill that might come in handy."
"Hmmph."
"Did you tell anyone out there who you were, or that your tied to this place?"
"No, I've been sticking to first names for a reason."
"What about the pony you have with you?"
"She knows that I'm tied to this place, but not about my past."
"Well, good. You seem like an okay guy, and the last thing we need is drama out there. You've got this little girl to take care of, and I guess since the pony isn't from around here, you're taking care of her too, and... look, don't make me wrong on this."
Lee took a step closer to Carly,"I don't plan to."
"Good, cause if this last longer that a few days, and you're a detriment to the group, then we'd have a problem."
"I hear you."
"I'll just keep it to myself."
"Thanks."
Carly looked away for a moment before turning back to Lee."Don't worry about it."
Carly left the room and Lee decided to follow her. He walked to the door before turning to Clem,"Wanna head back into the drugstore with me?"
"Okay... Lee?"
Lee stopped and turned back to Clem."Yeah?"
"You're not bad, right?"
That caught Lee off guard."I, uh... why are you asking me that?"
"That lady said you killed someone. Was that because he was one of the things trying to eat you?"
"No, he wasn't"
"Oh... was he bad?"
"He was."
Lee turn back toward the door and opened it. He walked out and almost walked right into Twilight, who was talking to Lily.
"Lee, you okay? Did you find a bandage?"
"Yeah I did. There was a first aid in there that we both missed somehow."
Lee chuckled when Twilight face-hoofed."Really?"
"Heheh, yeah."
Before anyone could say anything else, Clem's radio buzzed to life.
"Hey there... this is Glenn and, I'm ... kind of in a jam here. Uh, little girl? If you're there, can you put your daddy on the phone... ot the talkie or whatever?"
Clem handed the radio over to Lee who crouched down so Twilight could hear clearly as well. "This is Lee and Twilight here, what's up?"
"So... I'm down out that moter inn and well... I'm stuck."
"Stuck?" Twilight asked.
"Yeah, I saw a chance to get some supplies for the group and a bunch of the raoming ones got the jump on me. I'm hiding over here but they wont leave."
"What's up?" Kenny asked from the other side of the store.
"Glenn's trapped down at the motor inn." Twilight informed him.
"Alright Glenn, we'll talk it out and send a group to come and get you." Lee said into the radio.
"Awsome, I'll sit tight 'till then."
"What do you think?" Twilight asked Lee.
"I don't think Doug is to good with those things outside. Kenny has a family here. I'll take Carly and her dead-eye down there, get Glenn and his friend out of there, and get back here. You can come if you want, snice you have Spike I'll let you make that desision."
"Okay. If that's what you want to do."
"Someone has to."
"Yeah, I'm in. Let me know when you want to head out."
"I can go now. Just let me talk to Clem."
Carly nodded her head and walked in the office to wait for Lee.
Lee talked to Clem and Twilight talked to Spike. Twilight decided if see was going to be staying in this world for a while, she'd better get used to it. Who knows when she'll be able to get home? If she was going to get used to this world, she would have to get used to the walkers. Of course, Spike wanted to stay with Twilight, but she didn't want him to be in danger. And if something were to happen to her, Spike would have to see. She convinced Spike to stay at the store and asked Kenny to look after him.
Lee and Twilight walked into the office to meet Carly. They walked out the door to the back ally and started to make their way to the motor inn to get Glenn back.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lee, Carly, and Twilight walked down the empty streets of Macon to the motor inn. They were approching it when Lee heard a sound he didn't want to. It was the growling of a walking corpse.
"Shit! Get down!" Lee quietly yelled.
Carly and Twilight quickly understood why he had yelled and ducked down without hesitation Just as a walker stood up on the other side of the wall they had hid behind. The walker stood there for a moment before quickly losing interest in the noise it had heard and walked back into the parking lot. The group of three quickly heard another noise. They all looked at the ice-machine in front of them. The lid of the ice-machine kept opening and closing.
"Did you see that?" Twilight asked.
"Sure did." Lee answered.
Carly stood up and aimed her gun at the machine.
"Be ready to shoot."
The ice-machine's open all the way to reveal Glenn hiding inside. "Guys! Aw man. I'm glad you're here."
"Jesus, Glenn!" Carly scolded Glenn.
Glenn hopped over the wall and crouched down with the group.
"That was surprisingly easy." Twilight whispered.
"Can we get out of here before any of these thing notice us?" Carly asked.
"Not yet. There's a survivor trapped up there." Glenn said, pointing to a room on the second floor of the motel that had two walker pounding on the door.
"No way, we gotta go. NOW."
"Listen, I was out here looking for gas and I heard crying from the room."
"Who is it?" Lee questioned.
"It's a girl. We talked and she got frighten. I tried to get in there, but she started yelling a saying I was bitten. I tried to convince her I wasn't, and that's when all these guys came out of the forest. A couple almost got me, and I ended hiding in the ice-machine."
"Lucky you, now lets go!" Carly said again.
"We can't just leave somepony here without even trying to help!" Twilight said.
"Damn right we can't." Lee agreed.
"You guys are suicidal! Over a girl." Carly couldn't believe her ears.
"I'm saving her, with or without you." Glenn said, not backing down.
"Think about if it was you." Lee said to Carly.
Carly, seeing that she was out numbered three to one, agreed."Fine, let's go save Glenn's dam-"
"Carly! This is not a joking time!" Twilight whispered.
"Fine."
The four of them took cover behind a wall closer to the parking lot.
"Okay, this is the plan. We don't know how hard it's going to be to get her out of that room." Lee started
"Yeah, it's boarded up." Glenn pointed out.
"So we have kill everyone of them in here." Lee said, referring to the multiple walkers around the parking lot.
He heard Carly cock her gun. "QUIETLY. Noise attracts these things. Now, let's have a look around."
Lee decided to first see how many walkers they would have to kill. He peaked his head over the wall they were hiding behind to see a walker eating what was left of a body. Lee quickly ducked back behind the wall when he noticed it's head starting to turn in his direction.
"There's one by that wall over there. Looks like he's trying to get in." Twilight pointed out.
"That's probably where our guy is. The one I mentioned before." Glenn said.
Lee wasn't sure why he saw Carly sneak a glace over at him.
"There's also one behind the RV, and one by the car further down."
Lee had added up the total number of walkers they would have to deal with. There was one in front of them, one behind the RV, one trying to get in the room Twilight pointed out, One by the car further down the parking lot, and two on the second floor. There were six walkers they needed to kill before they could help the girl. Next order of business, finding a way to kill them all quietly.
Lee look down the wall and saw a pick-up truck similar to Kenny's.
"We can hid behind that pick-up." Lee said as he started moving over there. The others followed him.
Now they were here, Lee could see the walker that Glenn mentioned sitting against the front of the car that was on some ramps. "I bet we could do something with that car, if it weren't for the fella lurking near the front."
"Can we use this?" Twilight asked, show Lee a pillow on her back.
"Where'd you get that?"
"It was to the side of the wall we just come came from. Left side."
Lee continued looking at the pillow. Suddenly, Lee had an idea."Can I see that?"
Twilight turn around so that Lee could grab the pillow. "Get out your gun." He said to Carly."
"But the noise."
"Just follow my lead. stay right behind me." Lee stood up and walked over to the walker. The walker noticed him and started growling a snarling right away, but it only did so for a second, as Lee slam the pillow on it's face. Carly quickly realized what Lee was doing and quickly moved over and placed the barrel of the gun on the pillow and pulled the trigger. All the cotton and fluff of the pillow acted as a sound muffler, so the shot barley made any noise as the walker fell to the ground with a hole where it's eye used to be.
"That was sick!" Glenn said from the truck. Twilight was busy trying to keep herself from throwing up.
Lee proceeded to search the car. He found nothing besides spark plug that he called a 'sparky thing' by accident. Before he left the car, Twilight saw Lee push the car off the ramp and the car was set rolling toward the wall, luckily for them, The walker by the wall had lost interest in the room it was trying to break into before and wandered right into the path of the car. The car hit the walker in the legs and the walker was set with the car into the wall. The walker was not dead, but was pinned to the wall.
Lee went back to the pickup since he had pushed his cover away.
"Lee, I found a way to kill the rest of these thing quietly." Twilight told Lee.
"How?"
"Look." Twilight took Lee to the window of the pickup. Lee looked in the window and saw what looked like a screwdriver in the truck.
"Oh, yeah. That would work. Nice find." Lee praised.
"Thanks, of course, we still need to get it."
Lee tried the door, but was meant with a locked door."Of course, It wasn't going to be that easy."
"Do you have anything you can use to break the window?"
"...I do have that spark plug I picked up." Lee said he show Twilight the spark plug.
"Wait!" Glenn said."Let me see the spark plug." Lee handed him the plug.
Twilight watched on as Glenn explained to them how something in the spark plug could easy break a window. Glenn then handed Lee a little piece of the plug that broke of when Glenn stepped on it. Lee threw it at the window, and sure enough, the window broke with barley any noise. Lee looked up to make sure the walkers above them didn't hear. When he was sure they didn't, Lee picked up the awl.
"That could scramble a brain pretty good." Glenn commented.
"That's exactly what I was thinking." Lee said.
"Gross..." Twilight mumbled.
Lee began to move back to the wall where they started at. Once their, Lee moved to take out the walker eating. He sneaked up behind it and went to kill it. The walker heard a noise behind it and started to turn around to the noise, but before it could, Lee brought the awl down to the walkers head. The awl went though the back of it's head. Lee pulled it out and the walker shot up before fall back down as it's brain shut off.
Lee moved to the RV with Glenn in tow and Lee look around the corner of the RV to see a walker look at the RV. Lee whistled to get its attention. The walker heard the noise and started limping toward Lee. When it was close enough, Lee came out of cover and stabbed the walker in the chest. The walker wasn't even fazed as it went to attack Lee, but Lee pulled the awl out and stabbed it again, this time, in the head. The walker started to fall back and landed on the ground with a thump. With those two taken care off the four of them walked over to the trapped walker, who started to growl and wave its arms around to get the meal it saw before him. It saw no more when Lee jammed the awl into the walkers forehead. The walker's head fell back on the car. When it did so, the awl was moved further in the head of the walker until it was all the way in.
Glenn walked up to Lee and noticed his lack of weapon."Dude, where'd your weapon go?"
"Into that eye-pick sized hole." Lee said without missing a beat.
"Ha, holy shit. It's okay. Now we have THIS." Glenn pointed to a fire axe in the case behind Lee.
"Are you to done?" Carly asked, getting impatient.
Lee grabbed the axe and turn to the walkers on the second floor."Two left."
"That should help." Glenn said.
"But before we go up there, I want to go get that guy you were talking about Glenn."
"What? What bout the girl?"
"We'll get her after."
"...Fine."
Lee moved to the door that the walker was beating on and slowly open the door. He was meant with a empty room.
He walked in to get a better look in case he couldn't see anything from outside. When he found nothing, he turned around to exit the dark room when he heard a voice from behind him.
"Who the hell are you." He heard a gun cock with the voice.
Lee found the voice to be familiar. He turned around to see the last person he expected to see, and his jaw dropped. So did the other man's, who was wearing a very familiar pharmacy uniform.
"Lee?"
"Bud!"
