//-------------------------------------------------------// Equestrian Metropolitan Police -by Bobbybrony- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue I remember back when the portal leading to Equestria opened. It all seemed to fit around that stupid Mayan prophecy, you know the one, where they claimed the world would end on December 21st 2012. In a way they were right, the world as we knew it ended when a new world was discovered just on our doorstep. Some sort of seismic event took place late in the night right in the middle of the Atlantic ocean, smack bang between the European mainland and North America. The Americans sent one of their patrolling naval ships to initially investigate and came back with news that nobody could have prepared for, a landmass had somehow appeared in the ocean. Immediately the scientific world entered a mass frenzy, NATO dispatched their ships filled with scientific personal from key nations within the UN to investigate. They must have spent at least a few weeks exploring the new island finding nothing but trees, grass and rocks, kind of a let down considering all the hype. It wasn't until January 4th 2013 when something actually occurred, they finally found some form of life on the island. Upon hearing this the news crews immediately began to broadcast live on the hopes of catching a glimpse of these new creatures. I remember that I was stuck in the station completing paperwork for an assault I was working on, everyone else in the office were all sat at their desks watching the news as it unfolded. The initial reports stated that they had come across some sort of equines on the island, I know it doesn't exactly sound like anything worth shouting about but it turns out that they were unlike anything ever seen. The cameras had managed to capture a blue blur shoot into the air, unable to identify it all we could see on the news was the navy readying battle stations ready to engage in case it was a threat. When the camera was finally able to focus on the flying creature the whole office, maybe even the entire world, froze at what they saw. A flying blue Pegasus with a rainbow coloured mane was flying around the island and over the naval ships. The main event came when she flew high into the sky at speed as managed to break the sound barrier... a horse broke the sound barrier! It sounds stupid but it was true. When it did this however it produced some sort of explosion in the air creating a rainbow shock wave which spread out in all directions, the blast was capable of knocking out the cameras for a good five minutes before they started rolling again, apparently the wave produced some unknown pulse which disabled all electronic equipment. All we could see when the cameras came online was a group of these creatures all walking along the coast approaching the exploration crew and the naval personnel who seemed to be on edge following the stunt the Pegasus pulled. Approaching the crew was another yellow Pegasus, a white Unicorn, two normal looking horses consisting of orange and pink. The four that stood out to me were the winged Unicorns, two seemed to have long flowing hair that had lives of their own. Now if that wasn't crazy enough it turned out that they were capable of speech, they spoke perfect English. It turned out that the two largest were the rules of a land called Equestria, one was White with a multicoloured flowing mane, a golden tiara sitting atop her head, the other was dark blue with a flowing mane which resembled the night, a tiara of some sort of black metal rested on her head. After initial talks assuring us that they meant no harm the science crew, TV crew and a small naval unit followed them further inland as the 'Ponies' as they called themselves, continued to ask questions about our world. The scientists then found themselves a portal of sorts which allegedly lead to the world of Equestria, they agreed to enter for two days alongside the naval unit and a TV crew. We had to wait days before we finally got to see the footage but it turned out that there was an entirely new world on the other side, consisting not just of Ponies but other sentient creatures such as Dragons, Griffins, Zebras, Buffalo and Yaks. The leaders of Equestria received their own tour of the countries who acted as permanent members of the UN security council, consisting of China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom and United States. Over the next few months relations started to rise between Equestria and a number of countries in our world, it wasn't long before trade began to develop between the two worlds. Equestria soon began to develop it's own industry once they witnessed the power of our worlds industry in relation to boosting the economy. As a token of good faith the UN gave the new landmass to Equestria to act as their territory within our own world, the island itself was approximately 12,000 km² making it about the same size as the Falkland islands. That was the start of the issues between our worlds. Humans being the greedy bastards we are soon argued over sovereign rights to the territory, the island was rich in natural resources which many nations wanted. It took towards the end of the year for the issues to be resolved, in the end it was agreed that Equestria would control the island in exchange for setting aside a set percentage of the resources to trade with whichever country they saw fit to trade with, Equestria's key trading nations would consist of Brazil, China, Canada, France, Germany, Russia, the United Kingdom and United States. By early 2014 the Equestrians decided to give some land to the Humans in their world, they were willing to provide us land surrounding the portals location in their world consisting of 8,000 km² on account of the portal being on the mainland of their own country. There was only one catch, we were expected to coexist with all the other nations who wished to campaign for the right to the territory. Humans have never been the greatest of sharing and this only lead to rising tensions between key nations, proposals kept being presented to the UN which every other security council member would block if it didn't benefit them. A compromise would be devised by the Princesses of Equestria, they would allow countries instead to apply to have certain controls over the territory to allow all nations who wanted the territory to have control of certain aspects. Many nations applied for certain government bodies in order to have more influence, the Princesses would discuss these with the applicant alongside evaluating reports on individual nations set out by the UN. The nation which got the position would not however be given total control, but instead would be able to heavily influence the structure and policies of the body they controlled. The UN and the security council would act as the main governing body for the territory as a whole. Some of the bodies for example were: Education - Canada Fire service - United States Healthcare - France Military - NATO alliance Police - United Kingdom Telecommunications - United States Utility (Power/water) - Sweden Britain was awarded the right to Police the new territory in late 2014, however operations wouldn't start until early 2015 as they waited for facilities to be constructed and resources to be delivered. Britian was selected in the end due to one key factor, out of all the Police forces throughout the world we are the only ones who are not issued firearms, this appealed greatly to the Princesses as they saw arming the Police as a way of oppressing the population, having an unarmed police force made us more approachable in their opinion. The new population which went to Equestria consisted of many different nationalities however four main nationalities made up 62% of the Human population, American, British, French and Germans. Any nationality could apply for any job within Equestria so long as they met the educational requirements and spoke fluent English of 'Equis' as it was the native tongue of the Equestrians. By mid 2016 the new city of Stanton would be my home, after being in the West Midlands Police for four years I agreed to transfer to the Equestrian Metropolitan Police. I would leave my home and take a ferry over to the Equestrian Island of 'Manebridge', named after one of the Scientists from Cambridge who Princess Celestia took a liking to. Arriving on the Island I rest up for the day as all my security checks are completed and prepare myself for my first day of work in the morning.
