Gris is griffon, a very large griffon, once of high status in the Griffon Kingdom before it fell to poverty. Bitter, with nothing to lose, he traveled to Equestria, and quickly came to realize that there was no place for him there. Lucky for him, ponies are edible, and his conscience died with his fortune.
