Tiniest Screeches
1 - A Dark Night
Load Full StoryAdagio stared at the sky, a tiny bundle rested in her hooves- Lacking the power to shift form to make it easier to travel with. Her saddlebags, though still intact, had been ripped by widelife she'd angered by entering their territory. The fins on her head and neck glimmered with water after an earlier run through the rain to find better shelter.
She quietly cursed the changeling that had left her in favor of his hive, leaving her alone with a child- No, their child.
She looked down at him, counting his features; Elongated fangs, whole hooves, chitin below his fur, but, oddly enough, a made and tail, not fins. She shifted his blanket, revealing the gleaming gem embedded in his neck. It was a beautiful blue, like his fathers eyes...
She despised that fact.
She stared at him for a moment longer, watching his mane sway in the gentle breeze, before setting him in her saddlebag, setting off towards Canterlot. She heard that, in the poorest areas, she could find hatred among the ponies living there- Enough to feed herself and, hopefully, her child.
Adagio had been unsure from the beginning about what he fed on, but she deduced it to be positive emotions. She'd arranged an area ahead of time for him to stay, so he shan't get sick... But for now, she concentrated on getting there first- It doesn't matter if she paid for safety if they're dead before they arrive.
She looked back at the saddlebag, at her child whose gem gleamed between the tears in the bag, softly speaking to him, "It'll be alright, Sonar. We'll be safe soon."
