//-------------------------------------------------------// Compassion: Just Human Nature -by Chancegunnett- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue (rw) //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue (Edited) Jake shifted uncomfortably in his bed, tossing and turning, he couldn't relax. His head was buzzing, and his body ached. Finally deciding to give up he kicked his blankets off and walked to his bathroom. Jake opened the door and looked in the mirror hanging over the sink. He brushed his long blonde hair out of his sapphire blue eyes. He rubbed his face tiredly, leaning down he turned the sink on and filled his hands with water. He quickly splashed his face and rubbed his eyes. It had been days since he had last got some decent sleep, and it was really starting to take effect on his body, as well as his mood. Jake really wished these aches would cease, but he's too stubborn to go to the doctor. After the long night he had, he was seriously groggy, his reflexes slowed, and all around he was just out of it. It didn't really matter, taking a look at his wall clock showed him he had thirty minutes until he had to go to school. Groaning, Jake walked out of his bathroom and began getting ready for school. He put on a pair of faded blue jeans and a plain black t-shirt. He quickly ran a brush through his hair and brushed his teeth. Jake knew today was going to be long and tedious, but he had to trudge through it. He only had a week of school left, after all, graduation just so happened to be on his eighteenth birthday. Until then, he had to deal with the long classes, boring curriculum's, long winded teachers, and of course the idiots of everyday life. Jake's day went exactly as he thought it would, the school portion anyway. He ate breakfast with the shy girl that he shares all his classes with, aced a pop quiz, ate lunch with the same shy girl, and just all around just tried to avoid exhausting himself to much. Right now Jake is on his way to his Martial Arts Training Session at his local dojo. He always enjoyed his after school hobby. Unlike other dojo's in the area, this dojo taught a completely unique form of martial arts. The fighting style is called Sǐwáng huābàn, or Death Petal in english. The Martial Art was created by his Sensei and his five brothers. Technically it's a form of Mixed Martial Art, as his Sensei borrowed moves and tactics from pre-organised Martial Arts. There are about twelve in total, the the five main ones are Capoeira, Karate, Taekwondo, and Traditional Kickboxing, or Muay Thai. Anyway, enough education, let's get back to the story. Jake's 'dojo' was located three blocks away from his school. Walking in, Jake immediately waved at his childhood friend, Audrey, who was on the other side of the room tightening her gloves. Audrey is rather short, about five foot four inches tall, her hair is short and black and her eyes are brown. "There's my favorite punching bag, here to get your ass kicked again," asked Audrey cockily. "Hell no, I'm here to rub your face against the sweaty mats and reclaim my title," replied Jake. "Suit up then, we'll see how far you've come bean sprout," said Audrey. Audrey and Jake had always talked like this to one another. They believe it's because of how close they are to one another. Nothing bad they say is ever serious, you know? This level of bonding usually forms after knowing someone for years and years. Too bad Audrey's into girls, or else Jake would have asked her out by now. Jake walked into the guy's dressing room and threw his bag down on one of the benches, and quickly took his shirt, shoes, and pants off. Opening his bag Jake took out his shorts and gloves and quickly slipped them on. After his hand gear was firmly strapped to his hands, Jake reached into his bag and pulled out his face mask, knee pads, and ankle pads. afterwards he carefully put them on where they needed to be. Finally ready Jake put his bag into one of the many lockers and left the room. Jake approached the sparring circle and saw his Sensei standing at the back side, his usual strong and proud stance never wavering. Audrey tossed Jake a small black bundle "New regulations say we have to wear new headsets." "I guess that's good for you, I'd hate to mess up your pretty face," said Jake mockingly as he took off his old headset and put on the new one. "As if, my face may be pretty, but it's made of tempered steel," replied Audrey with mock cockyness. "I want a nice, clean, match," said Sensei with authority flowing in his voice. "Yes Sensei," said Audrey and Jake in unison. Jake and Audrey assumed their positions. "Begin," said Sensei. Audrey was quick to charge, throwing a blinding punch from Jake's right side. Jake was quick to block his friend's quick blow and retaliated with a quick back kick to her stomach. Audrey stumbled back, slightly dazed from his quick reaction. Jake loved this feeling, the adrenaline flowing through his veins, causing the world to slow down. Jake's heart pounded in his ears as the excitement started to compound within him. The two of them had always sparred together, refusing to spar with anyone else. Because of this, they know each other's moves like the back of their hands. So it was quite shocking to Audrey that Jake was able to block her, he had always had a weak spot on his right side. Audrey quickly snapped herself out of her daze and came back at her friend with an upward sweeping kick, which Jake ducked under and swept her other leg from underneath her. "Do you yield Audrey," asked Sensei monotonously. "No Sensei," grunted Audrey as she stood back up. "Continue," said Sensei with a curt nod of his head. At this point, the other students had started to crowd around the ring, seemingly pumped from the intense excitement. The two young fighters had almost always gone all out against one another, but this time seemed different. Jake seemed faster, his reaction time was slightly better. Both Jake and Audrey noticed this, Audrey was mildly worried, Jake on the other hand became more pumped at the realisation. Audrey threw a roundhouse kick at Jake which he once again ducked under, this time releasing a Capoeira crouching kick to Audrey's leg. Audrey flipped backward and landed face down on the mat, breathing heavily, her face heavily flushed from her over exertion. "Do you yield now Audrey," asked Sensei with a hint of amusement in his tone. Audrey sensing her defeat merely replied with a thumbs up. Jake jumped up and threw his arms in the air as he let out a victory howl. "I'M THE KING OF THE DOJO," exclaimed Jake happily. Sensei cleared his throat loudly. "Well... almost king," said Jake sheepishly. After practice had ended, Audrey and Jake began their usual walk home. "You alright," asked Jake worriedly. "Of course Dandelion-Head, just sore from that ass kicking," replied Audrey. "Sorry for going all out on you," said Jake mockingly. "Shut up," said Audrey shooting him a grin. Jake and Audrey reached the portion of their walk that they usually split up. "Good Night A," said Jake waving. "Sweetest Dreams Dandelion," replied Audrey. Jake continued his walk home until a skull-splitting pain ripped through his skull. He dropped to the ground and grasped his head, he groaned in agony as the pain got more intense. His body began to heat up as a bright flash blinded his sight. After that, all he saw was darkness, on the bright side the pain had ceased, all that was left was a slight buzzing. Jake opened his eyes and looked around him, all he saw was dark tree's and what looked like red eyes peering at him. Jake backpedaled and sat against a tree, he couldn't believe this was happening. "Um, excuse me... can you understand me," asked a small voice. Jake looked to his side and saw what looked to be a large yellow pony, with a pink mane and tail as well as... wings. "Yes...," replied Jake. "Um, how did you get an Element of Harmony," asked the yellow pony. "I don't know what that is, I don't even know how I got here," replied Jake looking at the crystal that was now tied around his neck. "Oh you poor thing, you must be terribly scared right now," said the yellow pony, exerting a motherly aura to match her gentle tone. "Not necessarily scared, just really, REALLY confused," replied Jake. "Where are my manners, my name is Fluttershy," said the Pony extending her hoof. "Jake," replied Jake taking her hoof and giving it a little shake. "Where am I," asked Jake. "You're in Equestria," replied Fluttershy. "I don't know where that is, but I'm obvious I'm not on Earth anymore," said Jake chuckling grimly. "Earth? You mean like soil," asked Fluttershy tilting her head adorably. "It's the name of my home planet," said Jake gripping his head while chuckling at the display. Fluttershy turned around and waved someone over "he's friendly girls." Behind her came forth five other ponies. The pony in the middle was lavender colored, her mane and tail consisted of dark blue, pink, and purple. The pony to her left was orange and had a blonde mane and tail, she was also wearing a brown stetson hat. Beside her was a white pony with a dark purple mane and tail. On the other side of the middle pony was a cyan pony with a rainbow colored mane and tail. Beside her was a completely pink pony that seemed ready to burst with excitement. "Jake, these are my friends Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, and Pinkie Pie, girls this is Jake," said Fluttershy. Before Jake realized it, the lavender pony called Twilight was directly in his face, breathing heavily. "You are unlike any species I have ever seen, or even read about in any book, what are you exactly," asked Twilight obviously excited at the idea of getting to know a new, never-before-seen species. "I'm a human," replied Jake nervously. "Human, as in the mythical species human," said Twilight giving Jake an bemused look. Jake shrugged and replied "where I'm from Pegasi, Unicorns, and Alicorns are considered mythical." "T-they are," asked Twilight with a shock expression. "Yeah," replied Jake with a neutral expression. "I'm assuming you've jumped dimensions," said Twilight giving a quick nod of her head. "Jumped dimensions? That's impossible," said Jake with a worried tone. "It's rare and very hard to do, in fact, there are only three known ways to travel between dimensions, and they just so happen to be through the use of artifacts, or even more rare, a cosmic level event," said Twilight sympathetically. "How did you find me so quickly," asked Jake. "We used our element's to track the one you have," replied Twilight. "I'm guessing you want it," asked Jake offering the gem to the lavender equine. "Thank you for cooperating," said Twilight as she covered the gem around Jake's neck in a purple aura, yanking is off afterward. Immediatly after Twilight tried to put the gem in one of her saddlebags it teleported back around Jake's neck. "I didn't do anything I swear," replied Jake raising his hands defensively. "I believe you, it appears the element has bonded with you, you'll need to come with us," said Twilight. Jake nodded in agreement and followed after the six ponies.
