My Little Pony: Friendship Goes On
Beep, Beep The machine made the sound constantly, keeping up with the elderly Princess's heartbeat. She wasn't exactly elderly tho; getting turned into an alicorn had its benefits, one of them being eternal youth and beauty. So, while Twilight Sparkle was several decades old and detereorating, she didn't show it at all.
Her husband held her hoof tightly, not wanting to let go but knowing that he had to. She smiled at him. He hadn't changed much either, his beard was a little longer but that was it. He was still the fun-loving male she'd grown to love. She noticed him tearing up.
"Are you okay, honey?" Twilight asked, seemingly knowing the answer.
"Oh, you know me. I'm always fine." He answered, whipping his tears away and dissmissing them with a smile. "Just.. You know, say hi to the others for me, would ya?"
She chuckled. "I will, don't worry." Twilight kissed her husband on the lips for a brief second. "I love you."
"I love you too." He walked a few hooves away from the bed and the next pony to take Twilight's hoof was Spike.
Much taller and scary-looking now, the only trait of Spike that didn't instantly made Twilight think of dragons was his kind nature and his lack of wings. His voice was much different too as he spoke to his best friend.
"I'm gonna miss you, Twi."
"I know. But I also know you're gonna be okay. Take care of yourself and the family."
"I will." They hugged and then Twilight turned to the three mares standing behind him.
Once energetic and brightly colored fillies, The Crusaders had not aged well. Twilight ran her hooves through her friends' silvery manes.
"I am so proud of you three."
"Thanks, Twi." They all said in unison and let Twilight be approached by the last group of ponies wanting to say goodbye; four grown mares and three baby fillies.
All seven Princesses, all seven were her friends and family, while only two of them were her idols. Princess Luna and Celestia stood tall and strong. Unlike her, these alicorns had been granted with the gift of inmortality and it probably wasn't the first time they said goodbye to a pupil. Only the most observant eye would notice that they, too, were crying.
Her cute and beloved baby niece had grown to become a mother herself. The tiny babies sitting on the alicorn's back were the ones crying the hardest.
And then there was Twilight's only daughter, who couldn't even look her mother in the eye because she knew she wasn't going to like what she saw.
"Dusky." The dying alicorn called her by her nickname, forcing her to look. "Come closer, please."
The mare looked at her cousin. Flurry Heart nodded and the mare proceeded to get as close as she could to her mother. Twilight laid a hoof on her daughter's stomach, inside, a baby was growing. A baby she would never get to meet.
"Girls... Take care of Equestria and each other. I love you all very much."
The pinkcoated mare sniffed, whipping tears off her dark purple eyes. "I love you too, mom."
Several "I love you too"s where heard through the room. Just before Twilight opened her mouth to talk again, two ponies blasted through the door. One of them was a gorgeous unicorn mare, carrying a microphone with her magic; the other was an earth pony stallion, following her with a camera.
"Yes, I'm Shining Dawn from Channel 7, at the hospital. Here to record Queen Twilight Sparkle's last words..."
"EXCUSE ME?!" The pregnant princess cried out, filled with anger at the mare and her camerapony.
"Oh, sorry. Ignore us, go back to what you were doing before we came." The unicorn smiled awkwardly.
Twilight Sparkle groaned and started coughing furiously. "I need to talk to Ce..." Another cough. "Celestia and Luna."
"Yes, Twilight?" Celestia asked.
"You were never good at planning anything. I know that better then anypony. I also know Equestria won't be safe forever, even if you try your best to protect it." Another cough. "But Equestria will be fine so long as you let destiny do its magic. The first years of my life were crazy, trying to control everything; but my final ones were when I accepted destiny and trusted it. Have faith my beloved ponies. Have faith in yourselves, each other and destiny." Then, she started coughing again.
When she finally stopped, she lay her head on the pillow, smiling and looking at the ceiling.
Beeeeeep was the sound that came out of the machine. Spike closed Twilight's eyes and covered her face with the blankets.
The ponies wearing hats took them off and held them close to their chests. Royalty did the same with their crowns. Discord (Yes, he's here too) materialized a hat out of thin air just to do the same gesture.
There was a small period of silence where the general sadness of everyone was evident. Then, the unicorn reporter talked once again.
"There you have it, folks, the last words of a beloved figure for our comunity. The element of Magic is gone, folks, but her last words will give us hope and... AUCH!" She was shocked to find Twilight's daughter had shot a magic beam to her, burning a bit of her mane.
"Get the heck out!" She cried angrily, shooting more and more magic beams at her. "How did you even get in?!"
The unicorn smirked, calmly, not seeing the gravity of the situacion. "When you look like this you can get them to do anything."
"I said out, you disrespectful mare!" Dusty shouted again, pushing them out of the hospital room.
"Was that really necessary, Sparkle Dust?" Sweetie Belle raised her eyebrow.
"I believe it was properly chaotic." Discord observed.
"Thank you." Dusty said to him.
Present Day
It was a normal sunny day in the city she'd grown in and had grown to love. The Princess was just happily playing with her own foals and her "Nieces" and "Nephews" when she heard a sound coming from the Everfree Forest. She lifted herself off the ground, the foals with wings followed her while the others looked up or levitated themselves. Being high enough, they could see a giant gray cloud with glowing red eyes.
An earth pony mare was walking awfully close to it but didn't notice it. She had black in both her coat and mane and casted a normal sized shadow under her as she walked under the sunshine. But then, the cloud got close to her, she saw it and shouted but it was too late.
It covered her completely for a few minutes and then flew away. The mare's coat was now white and so were the areas of her mane where black had once been. As she stood there, seemingly confused, it was obvious that she no longer cast a shadow. She seemed unable to move or speak. Almost lifeless.
The Princess gasped. "To the Friendship Castle! All of you! Now!" The colts and fillies obeyed their relative's order and ran to the castle.
once she made sure her family was safe in there, the blue mare looked out the window at the disaster that was happening outside.
"Oh, Twilight, of all the times you've been right. I hope this is one of them."
