Humanity once ruled all of Equestria, which back then had another name. But our greed and luck turned against us. Now another species is the dominant of the world and we have to struggle just to survive. My name is Zyon and I’m a human. Yes, you heard right, a human. And not only that but I’m a master of magic, the best one of his class. But I’m spoiling the interesting part. This is the story of a man’s transformation, this is the story of my life.
I remember being born in a village, located at the west. The population was not that much, barely a hundred persons. My family was everything to me, let’s begin with my dad. He was a potter, dedicated to his job and his family. Strict and firm but fair and caring, making sure his family had everything to survive another day. My mom was a farmer, she cultivated vegetables and tubercles like lettuce, carrot and potato. Last but not least, my brother Copper. He was the youngest and barely was two years old. Mom and dad always told me to protect him at every cost.
One day we had enough money to travel to a small town in the north part of the country. We rented a small chariot to move around it, whose name I still can recall: Canterlot. We couldn’t spend much on collector’s items but we didn’t care, for us being there, in the high society’s streets and buildings, was enough. What we didn’t expected was to witness the event that scarred me for life: a changeling attack. Now they’re reform but back then they were one of the most powerful races of the planet, having the ability to conquer large portions of land so they could get enough resources to expand their kingdom and enough slaves to feed their back then queen, Chrysalis.
The attack took everyone by surprise, those black creatures came into every single building they found to savage the foals and children in there. I was one of them.
My parents struggled as much as they could to protect Copper and me but the changelings were superior in number, one bit my dad on his arm and submitted him under its hoof, other attacked my mom and managed to dragged me away from her, I now know how flying should felt but back then just the sensation of being in the air and at a considerable height scared me. Whether it was the force of the wind or my own weight the changeling didn’t carried me away that much and was forced to land so my younger self could give him a break. With the amount of environmental sound it didn’t pay attention to its surrounding and lost track of me, I crawled as fast as I could but when you’re a baby you have no protection from anybody besides your parents. It didn’t took any second or minute to the changeling to find me but when it had me at the edge, with no form of escape and about to end my life it looked upwards, opened its mouth and ran away.
He looked scared and that was the only reason of why he left me alive. Now I know the reason: he cornered me next to a statue, a statue which projected fear to anybody who watch it. It was the statue of the Lord of Chaos himself Discord.
At first I was glad to be alive, but in the moment I touched it for security my eyes shined, giving me flash forwards for the future: a portal, a goddess, a lion cub, a princess. It scared me just to witness everything that life was planning for me at the time.
I stayed in fetal position for most of the rest of the day, crying and snuggling as best as I could. It was like that until a Princess descended from the sky and saw me. She looked worried for me and carried me on her back, it was the first of many piggybacks in my life. She flew back to the main area where the attack occurred. It had ceased, no signs of changelings in miles but also no survivors and a few wounded ponies. The Princess ordered her guards to look after some humans so she could gave me back to. But after hours and hours of searching for them there was no answer, they feared the worst. She got terribly upset and didn’t know what to do with me, it was difficult for her at that moment because she had to make peace between other creatures and she had her school for gifted unicorns, what was she supposed to do with a human baby like me?
While she cuddled and lulled me that night, as the fire was being extinguished and guards helped to remove the rubbish, she came to a logical conclusion: she decided to raise me, like her own son. I can’t remember my original name and neither she but it was her first responsibility. After thinking about it she named me after an old wizard, one of the most powerful of the Ancient Era: Zyon.
“Don’t worry little Zyon,” that’s what she said to me, and also she said her name that instant. “I’m Princess Celestia and I’m going to take care of you.”
Bit everything changed every time a new villain would appear my powers spammed out of control more and more getting stronger and more uncountable and thats when i asked discord for help and my relationship with the girls changed forever and while at tiring to master my magic which took years and years of failure and practice
so this is my story and i will tell you it from start to finish and having a lord of chaos as a teacher so this is my story and why i am the lost soul
A cradle was made to keep me safe and I constantly was with Princess Celestia even in her most important moments. I always slept next to her, it was like a mother constantly watching her children at work. At day she fed me and change me diapers and by afternoon I was in her reunions or even at some meeting with her guards and finally at night, before putting me to sleep and after another diaper change, she read me a story about the history of Equestria. It was like that for many moons, until something happened.
One night her sister, Princess Luna, returned from space... I think... she said something about dominating the world by making the night last forever or similar things. She initially was precarious in the castle, finding her way out in it. In one instance she found me and she freaked out. She ran into Celestia to warn her. I can remember the conversation even to this day.
“What is that thing doing in our home sister?”
“That’s a human Luna, and-”
“I need no explanations sister, I know what he is. But don’t you remember?”
“He’s an orphan Luna, he doesn’t have anywhere to go.”
“Sister... we know how these creatures are.”
Luna approached to the nearest window and narrated.
“70,000 years ago humans were insignificant animals. The most important thing to know about prehistoric humans is that they were unimportant. Their impact on the world was very small, less than that of jellyfish, woodpeckers or bumblebees. We often look for the difference between us and them on the individual level. We want to believe that there is something special about the human body or human brain that makes each individual human vastly superior to a dog, or a pig, or a chimpanzee. But the fact is that one-on-one, humans are embarrassingly similar to chimpanzees. If you place me, a human and a chimpanzee together on a lone island to see who survives better, I would definitely place my bets on me and the chimp. The real difference between us and other animals is on the collective level. Humans control the world because we are the only animal that can cooperate flexibly in large numbers. But cooperation is not always nice, of course. All the terrible things humans have been doing throughout history are also the product of mass cooperation. Prisons, slaughterhouses and concentration camps are also systems of mass cooperation. They are the only animals that murder their fellows for fun, which ultimately costed them their position. So much destruction, so much death... just to proof to the rest you’re better at an insignificant task?”
She turned around to her. “And now, when I finally come back from my punishment, you’re raising an offspring?”
“...I know how you feel Luna... but this little kid has no home, no parents, no place to go. What was I supposed to do?” She paused. “And when he grows up, he can help us in our diplomatic relationships with humans. Please sister, you need to understand.”
Silence was present, they just stay there looking at each other for a while.
“Fine. He can stay.”
“Thanks Luna, I promise he’ll be an excellent and prodigious member of the royal family-”
“I said he can stay, not that he’ll be my nephew or something similar.”
She left, Celestia knew she had to make her best effort to make this experiment work.
