//-------------------------------------------------------// Persona EG: Pursuing My True Self -by FoxMcCloud7921- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Sun 8/28 //-------------------------------------------------------// Author's Note So yeah if the title wasn't any hint this is another Persona story but it isn't related to the other story I'm working on but rather based on Persona 4. That being said, the layout of each chapter will consist of a "day" so yes there will be a lot of chapters but some will be really short. The only other thing I want to make clear is that I'm not trying to steal anything from MythrilMoth, this is only inspired by his Persona fic. Sun 8/28 “Man's enemies are not demons, but human beings like himself.” - Lao Tzu Morning The entire trip felt as if it was never ending...and the smell of exhaust and the nearby restroom was finally getting to her. Twilight Sparkle knew it was better to sit up in the front of the bus but luck apparently wasn't on her side this morning. The bus was mostly packed so she was forced to sit in the back, but at least she wasn't right next to the restroom. She laid back in her seat, trying to ignore the slight nausea in her stomach. She then heard a whine and looked down at her bag as a head popped out of the opening. Twilight smiled. “Don't worry Spike, I think I'll manage...hopefully. Besides, we should be arriving in Canterlot soon.” Normally she'd be preparing for another year at Crystal Prep but things changed over the last month. Her parents were currently overseas so until the end of the school year she'd be staying with her brother Shining Armor and Cadance. Cadance was the Dean at Crystal Prep so she was able to help take care of the transferring process, although Twilight still wondered why the two moved to Canterlot if it meant Cadance would have to commute all the time. For this year, she'd be attending Canterlot High and honestly, it didn't bother her that she was changing schools. Of course, she loved Crystal Prep but on the downside she didn't really have any friends and everyone there was either snobbish or just plain mean. That's what happens at a school only for the rich and entitled. “Canterlot can't be any worse in that regard,” she thought. At any rate, she'd at least enjoy being with her brother and Cadance, the latter probably her only friend at Crystal Prep and like a sister figure to her. She looked out the window and saw they were finally entering Canterlot. It wasn't nearly as big as the city, but it was quaint at the very least. They soon reached the station. “Guess we're finally here Spike.” She looked out the window. “I don't see Shining or Cadance but they'll probably be here soon.” Twilight then closed her bag, but left it open enough for Spike to get enough air. She then slowly made her way to the front and outside, waiting for her luggage. The town was bustling with activity but it wasn't nearly as congested as it was back home. Then she heard it, cutting across the noise of everything around her. “Twily!” There was only one person who called her by that name. She turned around and saw her brother and Cadance walking up to her. She quickly ran up to him and gave him a hug. “It's good to see you again BBBFF.” Shining chuckled. “You too sis.” It would've been weird to give Cadance a hug since they saw each other all the time at school but Twilight was always happy to see her. “So I got one question...does your landlord allow dogs?” Twilight asked sheepishly, realizing she forgot to mention that Spike was coming along. “I think it should be alright,” Cadance said. “I mean it's not like Spike is a Shepherd or anything.” “Is he potty trained?” Shining asked. Twilight rolled her eyes. “Of course he is.” She then got her luggage and they headed towards their car. “I really appreciate that you guys are willing to let me stay with you.” “It's no trouble at all,” Shining said as he put her stuff in the back. “Besides, Mom and Dad deserve a good vacation now and then.” “It's going to be weird not seeing you at school but I promise you'll like it here,” Cadance said. “Besides, you know Aunt Celestia and Luna.” Twilight did recall meeting them a few times times. “Isn't Luna the scary one?” Cadance giggled. “Oh come on, Luna isn't that scary.” “I beg to differ,” Shining muttered. Once everything was packed, they headed home but Shining had to make a quick pit stop. “Just need to get some gas real quick. Might grab a snack too. Anyone hungry?” “Shining you only ate breakfast like two hours ago,” Cadance said, sighing. “Fine, we'll wait here and have a girl talk then.” “Oh boy…” Shining got out and waved over one of the assistants. “Just regular please.” He then went inside the store. “So...feel weird having to go to a new school?” Cadance asked. “I guess? I dunno, it can't be that different can it?” Twilight asked. “Are you sad I'm not going to be at Crystal Prep?” “Of course not. I mean, sure it would be nice to see you everyday but this might be a better environment for you. The students there are...well as a Dean I'm not really allowed to say it but I can say unlike Principal Cinch, Celestia and Luna are much more approachable. Besides, Cinch is upset since CHS lately has been doing better on tests and in sports so…” “You're implying I should get some exercise?” Twilight mock glared at her. “...I'll think about it.” There was then a knock on her window that almost made her jump. She looked up and saw an older man in some weird uniform. “So terribly sorry to bug you but you wanted regular yes?” “Uh...yes that's right,” Cadance replied. “Perfect!” The man then began filling the car. “I hope you don't mind me asking but it looked as if one of you was coming into town for the first time? The city I presume?” “Yeah... pretty much.” Twilight replied. “Well I admit it is a bit quieter here than most places,” the attendant continued, who apparently was a conversationalist. “But we do have plenty of openings around here for jobs...though I admit you probably aren't interested in being a gas station attendant.” “Shining sure is taking a while to get back,” Cadance said, a look of annoyance on her face. “I'll be back, he's probably debating whether to get chips or Little Debbie's.” Twilight decided then to step out and get some fresh air. “I know what you're thinking, the air seems so much cleaner here doesn't it?” the attendant asked. “Well, that should do it. Before I go, allow me to personally welcome you to Canterlot.” He reached out his hand and Twilight politely shook it. As he walked away, Twilight suddenly felt slightly lightheaded and she leaned against the car. Spike whined in concern. “I'm okay, I think the bus fumes finally got to me.” Suddenly there was a yell from inside the store as someone opened the door quickly and rushed out. Judging by the commotion and the guy's pockets bulging, someone didn't feel like paying for food. Twilight knew there was no way she'd catch him and unfortunately thought the guy would get away. But then the unexpected happened. Just as the guy was about to turn the corner from the store, he suddenly got clotheslined and got knocked onto his rear. “Well, talk about good timing on my part.” There was another man next to him wearing nice pants, a collared shirt and vest. He was also wearing shades that hid his eyes. Twilight couldn't help but go over and soon Shining, Cadance and another who Twilight assumed was the cashier came over to the scene. “Oh thank goodness you're here Detective,” the cashier said. “You're a detective?” Twilight asked. The man pulled off his shades and gave a big grin. (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=eeVXa4cU21g) “The name's Detective Blitz of the CPD. I was on my lunch break and came over here and that's when Mr. Shoplifter showed up. Mr. Shoplifter apparently had the wind knocked out of him for he didn't even try to get up. Blitz went through his pocket and pulled out a candy bar. “Sheesh, guess the guy was hungry. Well I'll take it from here then.” He then got out a pair of handcuffs and cuffed the guy. “You guys have a nice day...oh on second thought I do need a cup of coffee.” “I'll get you one right away!” the cashier said, running back into the store. “Sorry about the hold up,” Shining said. “I saw the guy committing the act and thought I could catch him but he was too quick even for me.” “At least it was only shoplifting,” Blitz said. He then chuckled. “Now Spitfire definitely has to praise me for this.” He then got his coffee and took a sip. “There we go...well he and I will be returning to the station so you all have a nice day.” He then pulled the guy up and the two of them made the long way back to the station. “So...quiet huh?” Twilight asked. “Oh it's just petty crimes here and there but otherwise it's rather peaceful,” Cadance said. “Now, shall we head home?” Evening The apartment that Shining and Cadance were staying at was actually nicer than Twilight expected. It was no condo but it was comfortable enough. She took the spare bedroom and unpacked her things. The rest of the day turned out to be uneventful but during dinner the three of them talked a lot and watched TV afterwards until Twilight decided to turn in early to get enough sleep for tomorrow. //-------------------------------------------------------// Mon 8/29 //-------------------------------------------------------// Mon 8/29 It felt as if she was watching a movie but she was the one who actually experiencing this moment. She was moving on her own, towards a large blue door. As she approached, the door opened by itself and Twilight was engulfed in a white light. Upon entering, she was treated to a scene she never expected. The room (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IAgWajJrBuk) was large and there was light reflecting from the ceiling. In simple terms, it was like walking into a club but there were only two other people inside besides her. One was an older man, shorter than her with white hair and a rather long nose. The other was a woman who wore a blue cardigan with yellow trim and a long skirt to match. Her yellow eyes were quite distracting too. “Welcome to the Velvet Room,” the man said. “It has been a long time since we had ourselves a guest. My name is Igor and I have invited you here. This is the realm between dreams and reality, the conscious and unconscious. You are here because you have recently been awakened to a new kind of power.” “What kind of power?” Twilight asked. “It may seem confusing at first,” Igor chuckled. “But in time you will understand. I'd also like to introduce you to my assistant Clara. She and I both will be providing you assistance in the near future.” “A pleasure to meet you,” Clara said. Her tone almost seemed monotone but her smile made it clear her words were genuine. “Unfortunately I believe our time is up for now,” Igor said. “Soon you will discover your power and when that time comes we will meet again. Until then, I bid you farewell…” Morning At around six o’clock, Twilight's alarm went off and she was quick to wake up. School started today at CHS. She got up and took a quick shower. Unlike Crystal Prep, Canterlot High didn't have a dress code so she no longer needed her uniform. She also didn't have to have her hair up in a bun so she decided for now to keep it down. Once she was dressed and had her things she went to the kitchen and got out a box of cereal. Cadance had already left to go back to the city and Shining was currently taking a shower himself. She then sat on the couch where bowl and turned on the TV. It had apparently been raining here the past couple of days but it would be clear today and throughout the week with a fog advisory mentioned for tonight. Once it got close to seven, Shining finally came into the kitchen. “Morning,” he yawned. “Must feel weird not having to wear a uniform huh?” “Yeah, you kinda get used to it,” Twilight said. “I think I'm going to leave early this morning so I can get a feel of the school before classes start.” “Alright, well have fun,” Shining said as he made toast. “Oh and make sure none of the guys hit on you.” Twilight rolled her eyes. “Sure thing...but if you can take Spike for a walk in the morning I'd appreciate it. Oh, and he really likes the colorful kibble, whatever it's called. But he pretty much eats anything.” “Great, reduced to dogsitting,” Shining said sarcastically. “Oh well, have a good first day!” It was only about a fifteen minute walk to the school, which was good since Twilight's bag was rather heavy but this was nothing new to her. As she always believed, it's always good to be prepared, especially on the first day. While she was not one of them, there had been plenty of students at Crystal Prep who had been chewed out for merely not having enough pencils. Once she got to the school, Twilight was relieved she wasn't the only one there. Many other students were arriving and heading to their lockers. Luckily she had gotten her room and locker assignments the week before. Once she found her locker, she put in the combination and tried to open the door but it didn't budge. She had the combination memorized so she tried it again, going a little slower to match the numbers just right. It still wouldn't budge. “Oh come on!” Twilight tried brute force but that accomplished nothing. “Not on the first day!” “Ya having trouble there sugarcube?” Twilight looked over and saw a girl with blonde hair, freckles, and a cowboy hat standing behind her. She smiled embarrassedly. “Oh it's...just my locker. Not opening for some reason.” The girl chuckled. “Ya must be new here. These lockers are kind of funky sometimes and ya have to mess with them a bit.” She went up to the locker and pounded the door just above where the combination lock was and the locker rattled open. “See? Nothing to it.” “Thank you,” Twilight said. “And you're right, I am a new student. I'm Twilight Sparkle.” “Name's Applejack, pleasure to meet ya.” She definitely had a firm handshake. “Mind if Ah ask what homeroom you're in?” “Let's see…” Twilight opened her bag and took out the form she had been given. “Room 202, with Miss Cheerilee.” “Me too. Guess that makes us classmates,” Applejack grinned. “Since you're new, I can introduce ya to my other friends, that way you don't have to feel lonely these first couple of days.” “I really appreciate that.” Once she got her things together, the two of them headed down the hallway. “If you don't mind me asking, are the students here pretty friendly?” “Uh...well Ah would say so for the most part,” Applejack replied. “Ah’m guessing your former school was kinda rough?” “That's an understatement.” “You could say that.” Once they reached Room 202, Applejack looked at her watch. “If you're 202, one of my friends is in the same class as us. Ah gotta warn ya though she can be a little...random.” “Random?” “You'll find-” Unfortunately Applejack never quite finished the sentence as suddenly an air horn blew in Twilight's ear. She never knew she could jump so high. “FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!” The girl screaming at the top of her lungs had pink hair all over the place. “Pinkie...really?” Applejack asked. “Yer gonna traumatize the poor girl. Anyway, Twilight this is Pinkie Pie. Pinkie-” “Ooh ooh let me guess! You're Twilight Sparkle and you moved out here from the city and transferred from Crystal Prep because your parents are out of the country!” There was an awkward silence. “H-How did you!?” Twilight stammered. “Just a lucky guess,” Pinkie beamed. Twilight didn't buy that one bit but she let it go now. “That's just Pinkie being Pinkie, even Ah don't get her,” Applejack said. “But uh... you're from Crystal Prep.” “Yeah…” As popular as it was as a school, it wasn't very much liked by students from other schools. “Most people Ah know wouldn't ever transfer from there if they ever got in. But Ah guess you had yer reasons. Don't worry, we don't judge here.” “Unless you don't like snickerdoodles...then I'll judge you harshly,” Pinkie Pie said with a serious look. “...Just kidding! Everyone likes snickerdoodles!” “Well, we better claim our seats if we wanna sit together,” Applejack said. “Don't worry, you'll get to meet the others during lunch.” Twilight had a feeling this was going to be an interesting day. Once class started, Miss Cheerilee was quick to introduce the new student to everyone. “Now I'm sure everyone here at CHS will give Twilight a warm welcome as she adjusts to her new surroundings. Now where to have you sit…” “Ooh me pick me!” As luck would have it, Pinkie Pie had an empty seat. “Well since Miss Pie insists you can sit next to her,” Cheerilee said. She continued as Twilight sat down. “Now since this is a composition class, you'll be expected to do a lot of writing but even more importantly you'll need to know what to say, how to say it, and where to put it in your writing. Therefore…” The rest of the morning classes continued on until the clock reached noon and everyone, some desperately, made their way towards the cafeteria. Lunchtime Twilight remembered the food at Crystal Prep being fresh in quality and expensive at the same time. Not to mention they completely banned snacks such as swiss rolls and zebra cakes. Canterlot High seemed much more liberal when it came to food. Judging by how good the Mac n’ Cheese looked, Twilight didn't have to worry much about compromising. Applejack and Pinkie led her to a table where three other girls were sitting. One was currently reading a sports magazine, one was daintily eating a packed lunch, and the other was currently sneaking her carrots into a bag. “Howdy girls, hope ya don't mind if we an extra guest sit with us.” “Sup?” Magazine girl said. She has prismatic hair and blue skin. “Um...hello.” Carrot girl had pink hair and yellow skin. “Oh you must be the new girl! Twilight right? A pleasure to meet you!” At least Dainty girl was quite polite. “That's Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, and Rarity,” Pinkie said, introducing them all. “It's nice to meet you all,” Twilight smiled as she sat down next to Rarity. “You all are already much more welcoming than any of the students at my old school.” “Well no offense but most people at Crystal Prep can be a bunch of jackasses,” Rainbow said. She then got a glare from Applejack. “What, I said most.” “Oh...so people already know,” Twilight said, looking down. “Oh darling, you may be from there but you're certainly more friendly than any we've met from there,” Rarity said, putting a comforting hand on her shoulder. “And as I'm sure Applejack told you, anyone is welcome at CHS.” “So do you know what activities you're going to do here?” Fluttershy asked as they all kept eating. “I haven't decided... I'm not even sure what's still open,” Twilight replied. “Soccer team's still open,” Rainbow grinned. Twilight had a hard time imagining she could even run that much. “Um... probably not that.” “You can probably guess who's the sports star of our group,” Applejack said. “Hmm... judging by your figure I'd say you could be a swimmer...or maybe field hockey?” Rarity suggested. “Fluttershy is on the archery time.” “Well...we wouldn't mind having an extra member,” Fluttershy smiled. “Or maybe tennis?” Pinkie asked. “But there are other extracurricular activities too like Student Council, Home Ec, Drama Club, Art Club…” “M-Maybe I'll sleep on it,” Twilight said. “I guess I could use the exercise at least…” “So... anyone hear that rumor going around?” Rainbow asked. “Rainbow, there's at least a dozen going around every week,” Rarity pointed out. “Okay let me rephrase it: has anyone heard about the Midnight Mirror trick?” “Midnight Mirror?” Twilight asked. Rainbow grinned as she leaned closer and spoke in an ominous voice. “They say if you wait til midnight, and have all your lights off of course, if you go to the mirror you-” “Wait a minute isn't this that Bloody Mary game?” Applejack asked. “No, and don't interrupt. Anyway, you go up to the mirror and instead of seeing your own reflection, you see the face of the one you most desire!” Rarity burst out laughing. “Y-You can't be serious! I thought this was going to be scary.” “Well, it's one version I've heard,” Rainbow said. “I personally like the one where something comes out and drags you in-” “Gosh what beautiful weather we're going to have this week!” Fluttershy suddenly blurted out. “Lunch time is almost over too…” “Well in any case, ya don't have to rush into anything just yet,” Applejack said. “Just go with whatever speaks to ya.” Twilight smiled. “You know...I think I just might like it here after all.” Evening After lunch consisted of afternoon classes, which seemed to go by quicker than the morning classes. Once the school day ended, everyone said goodbye and went their separate ways. Twilight left the school and made her way back to the apartment. She was then greeted by an excited Spike who was very much happy to see her. “I know Spike, I missed you too. I don't think you have to worry, I met some nice people today.” She plopped onto the couch as her thoughts turned to the homework she already had as well as the choices she would soon have to make. She wanted to get involved as soon as possible, since everyone at CHS was a lot more welcoming. Student Council seemed like an easy choice but should she join a club as well? Soccer was a no-go since she wasn't very good at long distance running. Tennis sounded fun but she only played it a few times in middle school. She then got up and made herself dinner, taking one of the TV dinners out of the freezer. As she said, she'd sleep on it. It was only the first day after all. Later on Shining came home and asked how her first day went. He seemed pleased that she was able to make new friends right away. “Cadance won't be back til Friday but you probably figured that out already,” Shining reminded her. “But she's going to want all the details.” “As always...well got to go start on my homework!” “Some things never change...you never heard the word procrastinate?” “We don't use that word Shining!” It was times like these that Twilight reminded him of their mother. It only took about an hour for her to finish but afterwards Twilight felt tired and decided to go to bed early. Late Night She woke up a few hours later, although she wasn't sure why. She looked at the clock and saw it was a few minutes before midnight. She closed her eyes but soon a thought entered her mind. She remembered what Rainbow said during lunch about the mirror. But there was no way something like that worked. Twilight was always science before fantasy. Still...she was kind of curious. She got up quietly not to wake up Spike in his little bed. She went towards her mirror and suddenly she felt a little scared: what if something...a spirit or monster stared back at her and tried to- “Don't be ridiculous.” She would see her face, that was it. She looked at the clock and as soon as it turned midnight, she looked back and stared. All she saw was her face. No one else. As she thought it was just an urban legend. However...was it her imagination or did the mirror look like it suddenly had a watery appearance? She put a hand to the mirror and to her surprise her fingers went through the mirror like water. She pulled her hand back but nothing was on it and it was dry. She touched it again and the same thing happened. She decided to be daring and put her hand further in, even though she felt nothing. Suddenly, she felt something grab her and it took everything not to shriek at the top of her lungs. She tried pulling back but the thing wouldn't let go. She pulled back as hard as she could and finally broke free, falling back against the bed. She was panting hard, mostly from panic. Either she was dreaming or having one hell of a hallucination. “Just go back to bed...it's probably just a dream where you think you're awake…” She layed back down and closed her eyes, her heart eventually returning back to a normal pace and it wasn't long before she fell asleep. Author's Note Well I guess Igor finally caved and got that club! Too bad Elizabeth isn't here... So I was thinking while I'll be working on my other doc's, I'm pretty much going to post or try to post a chapter each week. Some chapters will be shorter or very short so it should be rather easy. (Hopefully) //-------------------------------------------------------// Tues 8/30 //-------------------------------------------------------// Tues 8/30 Twilight suddenly found herself surrounded by fog. She didn't recognize where she was for it looked nothing like Canterlot or anywhere she had been. It was quiet though...too quiet. So quiet that she suddenly heard footsteps ahead and as she looked ahead she barely made out a figure in the fog. “W-Who are you?” she then called out. The figure stood silent, almost as if studying her. “You've only just awakened to your power haven't you? It was no accident...but I wonder if you have what it takes. Show me, right now.” Twilight only just noticed she was carrying a sword, a rapier to be exact. Where did that come from? Was this person, whoever they were, suggesting to attack them? Did she even have a choice? This person felt dangerous and she'd do anything to protect herself. Twilight suddenly moved, raising her sword, which surprisingly was rather light, and struck her target. There was no blood but the figure did recoil slightly. “Interesting...I didn't think you'd be able to reach me in this fog...I guess you truly do have the potential. You are rather weak now, but over time that may change. We won't see each other again for awhile but when we do, I'll be looking forward to see how far you've come…” Morning Twilight woke up suddenly, the back of her nightgown sticking to her since she had been sweating. She looked at her clock and was disheartened to see it was five thirty. She doubted she would fall back asleep as she laid back down onto her pillow and her brain was already trying to analyze what just happened. That was two dreams she now had. The first was...odd to say the least. But this other one was much more forbidding… This couldn't be a coincidence, something was going to happen, if it hadn't happened already. Once her clock had hit six, she got up and popped into the shower. Maybe it was just nerves about transferring to a new school. She shouldn't feel so worried since five people already opened up to her, which for any new student on their first day was quite an accomplishment. After getting dressed, Twilight went to make breakfast while making breakfast for Spike as well. He had no issues when it came to food, whether it was wet or dry. She then turned on the TV and watched the news while eating her cereal. The fog was going to stick around til the mid morning so all drivers and those walking on the streets were cautioned to be careful. Spike then gave a slight whine, as if he understood what was said. Twilight smiled and petted his head. “Don't worry, I'm sure I won't have to worry about any crazy drivers this morning. I hope Shining makes time for you when he's home.” She hated to leave him at home but she had no alternative. Once it was a quarter after seven, she grabbed her bag and said goodbye to Spike before heading out the door. As the weatherman stated, it was still pretty foggy out. Luckily the path she took to school was already memorized in her head. She was about halfway to the school when she heard, “Howdy Twilight!” She turned around and saw Applejack running up to her. There was a younger girl with a red bow in her hair that was following her. “Phew...didn't know ya took this route to school too. Oh, guess you two never met. This is mah younger sister Apple Bloom.” “Nice to meet ya Miss Twilight,” Apple Bloom replied as they shook hands. “Oh, Twilight is just fine. My brother's apartment isn't far from the school so I figured I'd just walk,” Twilight said. “Do you live in town too?” “Nope, we just got off at the bus stop.” The three of them started walking. “Sweet Apple Acres is a couple miles outta town so we gotta take the bus. There are no school buses that come up that way unfortunately.” “That's a far distance,” Twilight commented. Applejack shrugged. “It is what it is, but Ah don't mind the walking. So, how did ya like yer first day at CHS?” “Honestly? A lot better than most das at Crystal Prep,” Twilight said. “I appreciate you and the other girls taking me in.” “It's no problem. Anyone at CHS is worthy of being our friend. But just so ya know, Fluttershy can be a bit timid, but she'll warm up to ya real quick.” “And Pinkie?” “She's a weird one...but in a good way Ah suppose,” Apple Bloom replied. “Pinkie's a real unknown, even now,” Applejack said with a grin. “But she loves to make people smile which Ah find admirable. Ah could go on with the others but Ah’ll let ya get to know them yerself.” Once they got inside, the three of them went to their lockers and classrooms before the school day began. Twilight was currently taking notes in her history class. Unlike some of the other students, she was able to stay awake throughout the entire lecture. “I can tell you what, this King Sombra was a real piece of work,” Mr. Doodle lectured. “You want to find the word 'dictator’ in the dictionary, you'd find a picture of him.” Suddenly one of the other teachers abruptly walked in and whispered to the older man. “What!?” he almost yelled but got a quick glare. “I...I see. Everyone, I'll be back momentarily.” Mr. Doodle then left the room. The silence was quickly broken as the other students started talking to one another. “Did something happen?” Twilight asked. Both Applejack and Pinkie shrugged. “No idea, but it sure don't sound good,” Applejack said. The discussions continued until- “Oh my gosh, they found a body strung up on one of the buildings in town!” Everyone's attention turned to a girl who was on her phone. “A murder!?” “Here in Canterlot?” “Who would do such a thing!?” Their voices were soon drowned out from the sound of sirens outside, which only confirmed the terrible news. “Golly...what a terrible thing to happen,” Applejack said, taking off her hat respectfully. Once Mr. Doodle came back, it took a bit to calm everyone down it eventually they continued with the lecture. But no one, not even Twilight now, could stay focused on the subject. Lunchtime Despite all the chatter in the cafeteria, it was rather quiet where Twilight and the others sat. “Well, this is truly a horrible way to start the school year,” Rarity sighed. “I'm assuming no one else heard anything?” “I'd give Spitfire a call but she's probably too busy at the moment,” Rainbow said. “How the hell do you not see a body on top of a roof?” “Well it was rather foggy this morning,” Fluttershy pointed out. “It'd be surprising if you saw anything this morning. “If it's alright I'd like to change the subject if we can,” Rarity stated. There was another moment of silence. “So uh... anyone check their mirrors at midnight last night?” Rainbow asked. “Seriously? We're gonna talk about that?” Applejack asked. “I did! But nothing happened unfortunately,” Pinkie said sadly. Twilight then remembered what happened last night. She thought maybe it had just been a bad dream...but she could remember everything vividly. “Um…” “Of course nothing happened, cause it's just some stupid urban legend or whatever!” Applejack snapped. “Actually... something did happen with me last night,” Twilight finally said. “...What?” “I know it sounds crazy but...it was like my mirror went transparent and I could put my hand through it.” Everyone stared at her and she had no doubts they thought she was talking crazy. “Uh... you're joking right?” Rainbow tried to put on a brave face but even she looked unnerved. “I'm really not…and then I felt something grab me too.” Fluttershy seemed to shiver at the thought. “Freaky deaky!” Pinkie said. “Uh Twilight, Ah'm sure yer not just making this up but maybe y'all were just... hallucinating or something?” Applejack suggested. “No!” Out of frustration she banged her fist against the table. She looked down in apology. “I dunno...maybe...but I'll prove it.” “Right...well you have fun with that,” Rainbow said. “I'm surprised you of all people wouldn't want to find out for yourself,” Rarity said as she filed her nails. “Oh give me a- I made up all that stuff yesterday! It's baloney!” “Well as a good friend Ah'm willing to check it out for myself, regardless of how silly it may seem,” Applejack stated. “Whatever.” “If it's okay I think I'll pass…” Fluttershy said. “Same for me darling,” Rarity said. “I think I'm going to need a warm bath tonight just knowing there's a killer of course.” “Uh...so what do you think Pinkie?” Twilight asked. “What do I think?” Pinkie repeated. “Are you kidding, of course I wanna go see!” “Fine, we'll go meet in the girl's locker room after school,” Applejack stated. Twilight wasn't sure what prompted her eagerness to prove her point but somehow she had a bad feeling about this. After School Once classes were over, the three of them met in the locker room. Perhaps it was because many were shaken up, but Principal Celestia announced over the PA that all sporting events would be cancelled today, meaning the room should be clear. “Alright, let's get this over with, Apple Bloom’s waiting for me outside the school.” Applejack then looked into the closest mirror. “So how does this work, your hand just went through?” “...Something like that?” Twilight said sheepishly. Pinkie kept poking the mirror. “Not working for me.” “As Ah said, you were either hallucinating or dreaming,” Applejack said. “Maybe…” Twilight looked into the mirror; her reflection looked right back. She slowly put her hand to the mirror. “Now Ah'm no scientist but how in the hay would that work anyway?” Applejack said, her eyes closed in thought. “Ah mean, glass don't just turn to liquid-” “Um... Applejack?” Pinkie said. “-and if it were liquid how does it stay on the wall? Ah mean come on now-” “Applejack,” Pinkie said, now looking nervous. “Ah just think it's a bunch of horseapples-” “APPLEJACK!” “WHAT!?” Applejack finally looked back and her eyes widened as she saw Twilight's arm through the mirror clear as day. “Sweet mother of apples…” “So uh... believe me now?” Twilight asked. She then pulled her arm out and no harm was done. “Ah... Ah don't know what to say…” Applejack stammered. “This is…” “Amazing!” Pinkie shouted. “If only the other girls were here!” “Wait,” Twilight said. “We can't just tell people about this. I mean, maybe I am the only who can…do this but if anyone else found out.” “Yeah...Ah get yer point,” Applejack said, pulling down her hat. “Yer the new girl here and ya don't want everyone alienating ya...so what now?” Twilight suddenly grinned, a twinkle in her eye that only came up for two reasons: either she found a challenge that would put her to the test, or an opportunity to explore something no one else has done before. “I think we should see what's on the other side.” “Ooh! I like that idea!” Pinkie said. “Yer serious?” Applejack asked, now looking nervous. “We don't even know what's on the other side...but Ah can tell ya want to do it anyway. Fine...but we'll do it tomorrow cause Ah can bring some supplies.” “And snacks.” Pinkie got stares on both ends. “What? It doesn't hurt to keep our energy up.” “Fair enough,” Twilight replied. “But for now, we can't tell anyone, not even the other girls.” Applejack sighed. “Ah don't like secrets but... alright. Let's get going before Apple Bloom comes looking for me.” The group of four were making their way from school when they saw a group of police cars nearby. “Looks like they cordoned off the entire block,” Applejack said. Apple Bloom groaned. “Sis, Ah rather not see...ya know.” “Don't worry Apple Bloom they always cover up the victim,” Pinkie said. “Of course it'd be hard to get the body down, since when it gets all stiff-” “I think that's enough Pinkie,” Twilight interrupted. They then saw Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy by one of the cars talking to another woman. “Listen Dash, it's nice to talk and all but we're attracting company,” the older woman said. She had yellow-orange hair and was wearing a short-sleeved collared shirt with a small blue tie and khakis. https://derpicdn.net/img/2016/6/23/1185376/full.jpeg Rainbow turned around. “Oh hey guys. I was just chatting with Spitfire to get all the juicy details. Oh right Twilight, this is Detective Spitfire, part of the CPD.” “Sparkle right? You're Shining’s sister?” Spitfire asked. “You know him?” Twilight asked. “Yep. Same class, different schools unfortunately,” Spitfire grinned. “We were both passionate about winning for our schools and I admit it got heated the times we met but yeah we're good friends now.” She then glared at Rainbow. “And I was explaining to Dash here we can't just openly discuss the case or the victim. All we can say is she was found laying on the roof this morning and the witness happened to be going out for a jog.” “Oh come on Boss, not even who she is?” Rainbow asked. “Oh I'm sure we could discuss a little bit right?” Detective Blitz suddenly walked up, carrying a tray of drinks. He then walked up to Fluttershy. “You like chai tea?” “Um...well yes but I didn't-” Blitz smiled and handed her a drink. “Chai latte, compliments of your good friend and Detective.” He then gave her a wink. “O-Oh my…” Fluttershy was now blushing. “You gonna stop flirting with the high schoolers?” Spitfire snapped as she grabbed her coffee. “We got a long night ahead of us Rook.” “No doubt,” Blitz said, sighing slightly. “But something's really odd here.” “Oh yeah?” Spitfire didn't seem to care anymore if everyone else was listening in. “Well think about it Spitfire: the victim has no wounds of any kind, no signs of a struggle. She may as well as have dropped dead.” “Er... what about poison?” Applejack asked. Blitz grinned. “Guess those cop shows do educate. It's possible, since we still need an autopsy. But again, how and why was she up here? Seems like a lot of wasted energy.” “Ya got a point there,” Spitfire replied. “Still, we can't make assumptions at this point...I just hope she died peacefully. Alright, I hate to do this but you guys gotta take off now. You too Dash! Skedaddle!” No one decided to argue as everyone went their separate ways. Evening To Twilight's surprise, Shining was already home. “Oh good, I feel better now that you're home.” “Seriously, I think you're worrying too much,” Twilight replied as she was greeted by Spike. “But why are you home so early?” “Once I heard the news, I didn't have the heart to coach practice today,” Shining said. “Cadance suggested I go home so luckily one of the assistant coaches was able to fill in for me. I hope you're hungry cause I have dinner in the oven.” “You? Cooking?” Twilight stared at him. “Who are you and where's my brother?” “Ouch Twily...my cooking isn't that bad...it's better than dad's at least.” “True.” Twilight smiled and sat on the couch. “I met an old of yours today.” “Let me guess, Spitfire?” “Detective Spitfire,” Twilight corrected him. “Yeah she would correct me...her name explains her character perfectly. I didn't think she'd get through the academy so quick but she was dedicated to her future job. The bad thing is she has to deal with stuff like today.” About an hour later they were eating on the couch as the evening news was about to come on. Twilight had to give her brother some credit. Sure he got one of those frozen pizzas from the store but at least it didn't get burned. It came out quite good. “Maybe in a few years you'll master Mac and Cheese,” Twilight commented. “We'll see,” Shining grinned slightly. “I'll take that as ‘you did a good job bro.’” Soon the news came on. “This is CCN - Canterlot City News at five ’oclock. We begin tonight's news with a developing story about a recent murder that took place downtown between midnight and six o’clock this morning. The victim, who has been identified as Miss Holly Oates, a reporter based in Manehattan. Miss Oates was well known for her controversial stories and even more controversial interviews with individuals such as…” “Sounds like someone wasn't quite a fan,” Shining said. “Seriously, who goes after reporters?” Twilight asked. “Did she really upset someone that much they had a motive to kill?” “After discovering the body, police are still in the process of finding out the cause of death, although at the moment it seems as if there was no weapon involved. As for other information and potential witnesses, the police have chosen not to disclose anything at this time.” “Now I definitely pity Spits,” Shining said. “I sure hope this is the career she wanted.” After they were done eating, Twilight went off to her room with Spike while Shining stayed in the living room and watched a recap of yesterday's football game. As she was looking through her textbook, she glanced over at Spike. “Something weird happened today Spike...well actually it happened last night too. I can't really tell Shining or anyone else but I think I'm safe with you.” Spike looked at her confused. “Oh, its hard to explain but whatever it is it isn't normal...I just want to know what's going on.” She paused for a moment and shook her head. “Well, no point dwelling on it now...more reading for me.” Twilight continued this for the next couple of hours before switching to a certain Daring Do novel before calling it a night. She had to be ready for whatever was in store tomorrow. Author's Note I'm so sorry for two things: One, that was the best Spitfire pic I could find. And two, Holly Oates? :facehoof: https://static.fimfiction.net/images/emoticons/facehoof.png Oy vey. //-------------------------------------------------------// Weds 8/31 //-------------------------------------------------------// Weds 8/31 Morning Twilight was currently on her way to school when she heard someone running up to her. “Hey Twilight!” Pinkie said, catching up to her. “So did you watch the news last night? I felt kinda bad for the poor woman… Oh right, we're doing that thing today after school huh? Are you nervous?” “Of course I'm nervous,” Twilight replied. “We better make sure we go in prepared.” “I feel weird not telling the other girls but...oh well…” Pinkie sighed. “Let's make sure we get through the school day first!” Afternoon If Twilight thought all teachers at CHS were saints compared to those at Crystal Prep, she was in for a rude awakening. “Shut the hell up!” Her physics teacher, Grumpy Cakes (no relation to Mr. and Mrs. Cake who owned the Sweet Shop), snapped at them. “So we got a new transfer student huh? From Crystal Prep? Well good for you, though I don't know why you'd wanna transfer to this shithole. Anyway, since you're supposedly so smart I'll start off with a question for you and you other assholes better be listening. What are the four fundamental forces that apply to our universe?” “Gravity, Electromagnetism, and strong and weak nuclear forces,” Twilight said simply. “Huh...guess someone's been reading the textbook. Did you get all that? Hey Rainbow Dash!” Twilight happened to be sitting next to her who unfortunately had been sleeping. “Wha- yeah I got it!” “You wanna play ball in college, sure thing but you gotta have a good education too. I swear you jock types are all the same...dumb as a doorknob.” “Fucking asshole…” Rainbow muttered. After School Once school was done for the day, Twilight grabbed her things and went to the locker room. Pinkie was already waiting for her by the large mirror. “So...were we supposed to bring anything?” Twilight asked. “Nope, Applejack has it all covered!” Pinkie said. “At least, that's what she said.” About five minutes later, Applejack showed up with a large duffle bag. “Phew...this is heavier than Ah thought.” “W-What is all this!?” Twilight asked. “Just taking precautionary measures,” Applejack winked as she opened the bag. Inside there was rope, clips, a sword and- “Is that...a rifle?” Twilight gaped. “Yeah, Granny says Ah can't touch Pa's shotgun so Ah took his .22 instead.” “You brought...a gun...to school!?” Twilight whispered loudly. “Hey, we don't know what's on the other side and personally Ah’m a pretty good shot.” “I don't see the big deal,” Pinkie said. “Pinkie! It's a weapon!” “Y'all will thank me later... besides no one will notice us anyway.” Applejack then got out the rope and after tying one end around one of the clips, attached it to a loop on Twilight's blouse. “Just in case something happens and we need to git the hell out of dodge. Pinkie, I'm sorry, but yer gonna have to stay here.” “Aw... why me?” Pinkie whined. “Because we need someone on this side to pull us back,” Applejack explained. “Now no offense but... Ah'm probably the most suited to handle whatever happens to come out at us...if something comes out at us…” “And I get a sword?” Twilight said somewhat sourly. “It's technically a prop but it's the best Ah could find...it's from drama club so try not to break it.” The sword definitely looked real and once Twilight picked it up it felt real as well. “I think this should work out…” Applejack then clipped the rope to her belt side before putting the weapons back into the bag. “Ah guess we're ready then. Remember Pinkie, if ya feel a sharp tug, pull us back immediately.” “Okie-dokie!” “Wait a minute...I know I can pass through the mirror but...how do we know you'll go through it too?” Twilight asked. Applejack was silent. “...Well we won't know until we try! And if it's just you well...never mind let's get going!” Twilight took a deep breath and once again put her hand to the mirror. To no surprise, it went through almost like water. She braced herself and put her foot through. “...You know this isn't so baADDD!” She realized too late there was no ground to step upon and fell through, also taking Applejack with her. Pinkie managed to grab the rope and tried to pull them back but for whatever reason the rope broke and Pinkie fell backwards. Staring at both the mirror and now torn rope, all Pinkie could say was, “Uh oh…” Twilight wasn't sure how long she fell but eventually she hit ground. Luckily, all it did was take the breath out of her...until Applejack fell on top of her. She always thought Applejack had a small figure but now she knew she was hiding a lot of muscle. “Ugh...sorry sugarcube…” Applejack groaned as she got off. “Didn't break anything right?” “No... I'm fine…” Twilight replied as she got up. “What in the…?” (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ooWBK-D2bPI) The first thing that came to mind was that they somehow ended up in some fairy tale world. It looked like it was nighttime and while there were stars in the sky there were white silhouettes nearby, like windows to a house. “Ah don't think we're in Canterlot anymore…” “No kidding…” Suddenly Twilight started giggling. “... Don't tell me you've lost it.” “Applejack look where we are! We just crossed into another world! Too bad I didn't bring a camera…” She looked around. “It's actually kinda hazy here...but I don't see where we dropped in.” “Yeah...about that…” Applejack then showed her the rope, or what was left of it. “Ah don't think we're going back that way…” “Okay...well surely there has to be another way out...I hope.” As far as she could see, there were two paths. “And we better find it fast.” Suddenly they froze as they heard footsteps coming from ahead of them. “Someone's here?” Twilight whispered. The footsteps got closer. “The hell with this!” Applejack snapped, opening the bag and grabbing her rifle. “Now whoever the hell ya are better identify yerself right now or Ah promise y'all get a headful of lead!” There was a sudden “Eep!” and the stranger went in the opposite direction. With the fog it was hard to see. “...I think you scared it.” Twilight said. “Good!” “W-Wait I don't mean any harm...please don't… 'give me a headful of lead.’” “It's okay, we won't hurt you...can you help us?” Twilight asked. There was no response. “Um... please?” “Alright...I'm coming out…” They heard the figure approaching and as Twilight listened she noticed the footsteps sounded...off. They then saw the figure and both of them just stared. “It's...a horse.” Twilight said. “Technically it's a pony,” Applejack corrected her. “And it's pink…with one of those weird hats.” “What, you've never seen a pink pony before?” “It...it talks too!?” Applejack stammered. “Ahem (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=F1ut-eTUMrc), you mean 'she’,” the pony said. “And look who's talking, I've never seen creatures like you before!” “You've...never seen a human being before?” Twilight asked. “Nope... though to be honest I haven't seen many things here other than Shadows.” “Shadows?” Applejack asked. “Yeah they're- actually you'll know when you see them trust me...but who are you and how did you get here?” “To be honest, we found this place by accident,” Twilight explained. “We were going to explore but we got cut off from where we entered and… we're kinda stuck.” “I see...so I can trust you two?” the pony asked. “Sure but...this is really weird,” Applejack said. “Just what is this place?” “It's...well...I can't remember.” “Say what now?” “I'm sorry...when I first found myself here I couldn't remember much about myself except my name.” “Oh! Speaking of which, we should introduce ourselves. I'm Twilight and this is Applejack.” “Howdy,” Applejack said. “I'm glad yer not some alien monster thing.” “I'm pretty sure I'm not the alien here…” “So...what's your name?” Twilight asked. The pony then looked uncomfortable. “Um... promise not to laugh if I tell you?” “Promise,” Applejack said, taking off her hat and nodding her head. “It's um... Screwball.” There was a long pause. “Screwball?” Twilight clarified. “Yes...I didn't give myself that name by the way.” “I'd believe that,” Applejack said with a slight smirk. “Well... Screwball...can you help us get out of here?” Twilight asked. “Perhaps...but there's two things…” “And what's that?” Applejack replied, looking suspicious. Screwball's expression then turned serious. “Are you the ones who sent that woman here the other day?” “What woman?” Twilight asked. “I felt a presence the other day...she seemed human like yourselves. I wanted to help her but the Shadows got to her first…” “Ya mean...they killed her?” Applejack asked. “I wanted to help her...but I'm defenseless against the Shadows…” Screwball frowned. “So...it wasn't you two then?” “We had no idea we weren't the first ones here,” Twilight replied. “Well... I suppose I can trust you...but there's one other thing... something appeared near here before you showed up. I think we should check it out.” “Oh for crying out loud…” Applejack grumbled. “Applejack...we need to give her a reason to trust us,” Twilight said. “Alright, alright...lead the way.” At first, it was only a row of windows, but as they continued along, Twilight and Applejack noticed the scenery changed slightly as they were now on a road and there were some buildings here and there. “This place don't make one lick of sense,” Applejack muttered. “Ah guess we're not gonna get any answers.” “I really am sorry…” Screwball said. “It does sound like this world and yours are connected somehow but-” She suddenly stopped. “What's wrong?” Twilight asked. “This can't be right... they're not supposed to...the shadows, they're coming!” “What? Where!?” Applejack shouted. “They usually reside in secluded places but why...oh no...they must have sensed your presence!” Suddenly, it was as if the stars in the sky disappeared as three puddles of what looked like black tar approached from in front of them. Each one had a mask on it and then they changed as the creatures turned into black blobs as hands formed, reaching towards them. “Aren't you going to shoot them!?” Screwball cried out. “A-And how am Ah supposed to kill something like that!?” Applejack yelled. For some reason, even as she stared at the horrifying creatures, Twilight was calm, partly because she could hear a voice inside her head. It was almost as if it was reassuring her. She then stepped forward, the sword in her hand. “No, it's too dangerous!” “Twilight git the hell back here!” But the voice told her she was fine. She then saw a blue card appear and as she grabbed it, a word formed in her head, begging her to speak it. “Persona (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qo571I6bkS4)…!” The card suddenly shattered as a blue aura surrounded her. Suddenly a figure appeared above her, clad in blue armor. https://camo.derpicdn.net/b68de5113840d058e1703fe9fee119d25e0f5940?url=http%3A%2F%2Fvignette2.wikia.nocookie.net%2Fvalkyrieprofile%2Fimages%2F9%2F92%2FLenneth.jpg%2Frevision%2Flatest%3Fcb%3D20080816160633 “I am thou...and thou art I… I am the Valkyrie Lenneth. Your heart called to me and I shall protect you to the very end!” “What in the world…?” Applejack couldn't help but stare. The shadows suddenly seemed afraid of her but were not backing down. Twilight wasn't quite sure what was happening but now she safe and much more confident. She gave her Persona a command and Lenneth raised her arm as one of the shadows became frozen in ice. The ice then shattered, killing it instantly. One of the remaining shadows tried to grab her but she jumped away just in time. She repeated the same command, killing the second shadow. Finally, Lenneth raised her sword, cutting down the shadow easily. The aura then disappeared and Twilight fell to her knees. “Whoa sugarcube you okay?” Applejack asked as she helped her up. “Yeah...just a little light-headed…” Twilight replied. “Golly...Ah don't know what happened there but…” “That was amazing!” Screwball said, prancing around happily. “You went through those shadows like it was nothing!” She then looked down sadly. “You saved us...and I was the one who didn't trust you...I'm sorry. For doing all that, you can't be bad people.” “Ah'm glad we got that out of the way,” Applejack said. “So...this thing ya wanted to show us?” “It's not far now.” They continued on until they reached a large building. “Here...for whatever reason this building wasn't here before.” “What the…?” Applejack stared for a long moment. “This looks just like the barn at Sweet Apple Acres...but why is it here?” “Should we go inside?” Twilight asked. “Ah guess...but Ah got a bad feeling about this…” Applejack then went over and pulled the door open and the three of them went inside. It was empty and it certainly didn't invite a feeling of welcome. “On second thought...maybe it was best just to leave this place alone…” Screwball whimpered slightly. “What's wrong... don't wanna stay for dinner?” The three of them turned around and were startled to see- “Applejack!?” Twilight couldn't believe her eyes. “There's...two of them?” (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Fg0nVYvN_Fw) Screwball said. “Ah was wondering when you'd show up,” Other Applejack said. “Here in the ol’ barn...eh who am Ah kidding Ah'm sick of this damn place.” What was unnerving about this Applejack was that her eyes were yellow and her voice sounded altered. “Don't... don't ya put words in my mouth!” Applejack yelled. “Ah was younger and didn't appreciate what Ah had at the time! But Ah wouldn't trade it for anything in the world now.” “So what happens when Granny goes? Does Big Mac inherit the farm? Someday Ah’ll have to inherit it and then one day pass the burden to Apple Bloom. It'll just be easier to sell it all and live a more simple life.” “There's no way we could afford anything without the farm, without the business!” “But what if Apple Bloom don't want it…? Face it, ya have anxieties about what to do. Ya don't want to let Granny down but ya also wanna give Apple Bloom a normal life. You and me are one and the same!” “No that's a buncha bullshit! You... you're not me!” Other Applejack started laughing as a dark aura appeared around her. “Y'all such a horrible liar...but you'll see soon enough!” Suddenly Other Applejack transformed and her slim form became taller and more muscular. She looked like one of those Titans from that popular neighponese anime show. Applejack was in a state of shock unfortunately. “We need to help her!” (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=TkYwu0QDEg0) Screwball said. “I can't really fight but I'll give you support.” “Ah am a shadow...the true self. Ah hope yer ready for a real ho-down sister!” Shadow Applejack then attacked, hitting Twilight hard and almost sending her back. “Help me Lenneth!” Twilight summoned the card and as it shattered. Lenneth appeared as she used the spell Bufu which froze Shadow Applejack and caused damage. “This one's strong so be careful!” Screwball advised. “So...wanna play rough huh?” Shadow Applejack smashed the ground with her boot which caused a seismic tremor and knocked Twilight on her butt. “Ugh...now you're just becoming a pain!” Twilight summoned Lenneth again and she used her sword to strike the shadow in the head. “Damn it… Ah'm supposed to be stronger than this!” There was pain and a tinge of sadness but the shadow wasn't going to relent. Unfortunately Twilight was at her limit as well. Shadow Applejack yelled as her aura darkened further. “Oh no… I think she's preparing for a big attack! Brace yourself!” Shadow Applejack then attacked again, bringing Twilight to her knees. “I can't lose...I have to protect my friends…” She stood up unsteadily and panted hard. “One more attack…” Through her will, Lenneth attacked and landed a critical hit. “No way...how did…!?” The shadow collapsed and started to fade away. “...It's over?” Screwball asked. “Way to go Twilight!” Applejack finally seemed to recover and she got up shakily. “Ah’m sorry Twi…” she said softly. “Ah should've been there to help but...Ah freaked out. Never thought Ah would face mahself like this…” She then stared at her shadow who stared back. “Y'all were right about some things...Ah have been anxious about what happens when Granny goes. To be honest Ah didn't think Ah’d have to worry about such things til I was older but after Ma and Pa…” She sighed sadly. “Ah know someday Ah'll be taking over the farm...but Ah won't force Apple Bloom to bear the burden if she don't want it...is this what ya wanted to hear?” Her shadow nodded and suddenly it changed again, this time to a man carrying a sword and shield. https://camo.derpicdn.net/46be3969a4c82a916d049e34ca9dffdf4cda375d?url=http%3A%2F%2F3.bp.blogspot.com%2F-kIlTNFBSJ9I%2FU7EeGnDk7NI%2FAAAAAAAABQE%2F0vSoS1qXq_o%2Fs1600%2FPerseus_by_SkyVodka.jpg “Huh...so this is the same power you have right?” Applejack then dusted off her shirt as her new Persona disappeared. “Ah think it's time we head back...you look exhausted.” “I'm probably going to sleep well tonight…” Twilight smiled weakly. “Screwball, you know a way out of here?” Applejack asked. “Well...if you really must go then I suppose I can help.” Screwball then led them back to where they first entered. “Give me a second…” She closed her eyes and suddenly a doorway appeared. “Wait...that was it? That's all ya had to do!?” Applejack looked furious. “I told you I didn't trust you two!” Screwball snapped. “But...now I know better. I appreciate what you two did so…” “Screwball... I'm not sure why I have this power...but I have no doubts that it's connected to this place so...if I can I'll be willing to help you regain your lost memories.” “R-Really?” Screwball asked. “Aw shucks Ah'm involved whether Ah like it or not so Ah'll help too...but honestly where do we start?” “This place...it's connection to our world... shadows...I wonder if shadows represent our inner selves?” Twilight said. “There's so much we don't know though…” “Right now Ah need a shower and a nap,” Applejack said. “We'll be back soon sugarcube so don't fret.” “Alright...see you again next time!” The two girls nodded to one another and went through the doorway. It was as if night had turned to day and both girls had to shield their eyes. “The locker room...guess we made it back after all,” Applejack said. “There you two are!” They suddenly looked over as they saw an emotional Pinkie. “I thought you guys got stuck and I almost had a breakdown! I didn't know who to go to cause they'd think I'm crazy! And now you just pop back out of nowhere!?” “Look Pinkie we didn't mean to-” “Save it! I...don't pull that stunt on me again!” Pinkie then stomped out of the locker room. “She looked rather upset…” (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2t_Itshoso8) Twilight felt rather guilty. “It's not your fault,” Applejack said, sighing. “I'll give her a call tonight and try to explain. She has a right to know.” “Something's been nagging me for a while…” Twilight said. “Screwball said there was a woman who was killed...you don't think…?” “It was the reporter?” Applejack finished. “That would be insane...but she did say she wound up in there...so she must have had a power like yours…” “Maybe...or maybe she ended up there against her will. It doesn't matter now. All we can do now is try to help Screwball remember and then maybe she can explain.” “Sounds good. Gosh it must be late so I...what in tarnation?” Applejack was staring at her phone. “...How long would you say we were in there?” “Uh...maybe close to an hour?” “And when we first go here it was about a quarter after three?” “Yeah?” Applejack showed her the time. It was only three thirty. Fifteen minutes had passed by. Twilight pulled out her phone and saw it had the same time. “So we spent an hour there...and fifteen minutes passed here... interesting.” “Well...guess Ah can't complain but Ah better head back home…” “Me too...Spike will be wanting his dinner.” “Spike?” “My dog. I'm sure you'll meet him eventually.” “Alright...and we're still not mentioning this to the other girls?” “For now…” “Well in that case Ah'm outta here. See ya tomorrow then!” After saying goodbye to Applejack, Twilight made her way home. Evening After feeding an insistent Spike and eating a somewhat carb-heavy dinner, Twilight decided to go to bed early. However, before she fell asleep she could only think of the power she now wielded. “Persona” she had said. She smiled slightly. Twilight understood the significance of the word...and she felt humbled that her true strength was in the form of a Valkyrie. Author's Note Twilight has unleashed her power and has gained the Persona Lenneth, Bringer of Souls! Applejack has faced her inner truth and gained the power of Perseus, Monster Slayer! //-------------------------------------------------------// Thurs 9/1 //-------------------------------------------------------// Thurs 9/1 Early Morning The Velvet Room… Twilight was once again inside the large room, seated across from the long-nosed man and his assistant. “It is good to see you again,” Igor said. “It seems you have finally awakened to your power. We call this power Persona...consider it like a mask one wears. Each Persona is different and represents one's personality. It's a wondrous thing isn't it?” He then chuckled. “I called you here because there was one other thing I wished to discuss. You will soon become involved in a great mystery, and in order to reach the end, you must strengthen your power. One can do this through social links.” “The bonds you build with others will strengthen your powers and your Personas,” Clara said. “That's right, you have a unique ability.” She then had a deck of tarot cards in her hand. She laid it out on a table and drew the first card, putting it on the table. “As I thought… The Fool. The number zero represents nothing, but also endless possibilities. We call your ability the Wild Card.” “You can wield multiple Personas at your disposal,” Igor explained further. “The next time we meet, you will come of your own free will and I will explain my abilities that will aid you in your journey. Until then, I will return you to your dreams. Farewell…” Morning Twilight was on her way to school when she bumped into Pinkie. “Hey,” she said, looking down slightly. “Sorry about blowing up yesterday...I was really worried something happened to you two!” “It's fine,” Twilight replied. “You want to see it too right?” “Well...I guess so. Is it...scary?” Twilight smiled. “I think I'll let you decide for yourself.” “Ooh you know I hate cliffhangers!” Lunchtime When Twilight got her lunch she saw that Applejack and Pinkie were the first ones at the table. “...And that pretty much sums the whole thing up,” Applejack said. “Wait a minute...I can understand alternate personalities and incarnations of yourself...but a talking pony? Seriously?” Pinkie asked. Applejack smirked. “That's where ya draw the line? Even Twilight believes it. “Okay, let's not put words in people's mouths,” Twilight says as she sits down. “Talking equines aside, this other world pretty much has the same laws of physics...at least I think so.” Applejack glanced over and cleared her throat. “Howdy Rainbow Dash, you're looking mighty happy today.” “You're not going to believe this,” Rainbow said as she sat down. “So they did the autopsy of that reporter right? Well, apparently, they didn't find any cause of death, no stab wounds, no internal wounds, nothing!” “And how the heck do you know that?” Applejack asked. “Apparently a certain detective was willing to spill the beans,” Rarity said as she and Fluttershy showed up. “Honestly, you're going to get that poor man fired darling.” “Don't worry, Spitfire's used to me asking stuff like this all the time.” “Still...if she was hanging from the rooftop foul play was obviously involved,” Twilight said. “Interesting…” “Um do we really have to talk about this?” Fluttershy asked. “Uh yeah cause it's a real mystery!” Rainbow replied. “A mystery you say?” Pinkie was suddenly smoking a wooden pipe and wearing a familiar cap. “Very interesting indeed…” “I mean...there has to be a reason…” Fluttershy argued. “It's elementary my dear Fluttershy,” Pinkie said. “... What?” “Ah think you're all blowing this outta proportion,” Applejack said. “Is that all that's going on in Gossip Land Dash?” “Eh, other than that I heard Sunset Shimmer's been elected Student Council President again.” “Was there even a race this time?” Rarity asked. “Nope. Guess no one wants to face off against her. Student Council is lame anyway.” “Sunset Shimmer?” Twilight asked. “Oh yeah, you haven't met her yet have you?” Rainbow asked. ,”She's a... interesting one.” “I’m not sure how to perceive that,” Twilight replied. “Look behind ya,” Applejack said. Twilight casually turned around and saw a girl with red and yellow hair sitting by herself. “Why is she sitting by herself?” “Well...she actually transferred here a few years ago and there was this nasty rumor that she was quite the bully at her old school,” Applejack said. “She's actually pretty nice, just kind of distant from everyone,” Fluttershy added. “She's also probably the smartest student here so I guess you have some competition here,” Rarity stated. Twilight rolled her eyes. “Well, maybe she just needs a friend,” she said as she got up. “Wait... you're not…” Pinkie said. “I wouldn't do it,” Rainbow said. “Not even Pinkie could get to her.” “Look, I may not know her but maybe we have more in common than you all think.” Twilight took a deep breath and walked over. “Um...hi! Do you mind if I sit here?” Sunset looked at her and Twilight was surprised to see she was just as surprised to see her. “Uh... sure?” Twilight smiled as she sat across with her. Of course, the other girls had similar expressions on their faces. “I don't mean to bother you but you were eating by yourself so…” The girl stared at her for a moment and suddenly smiled slightly. “You're the transfer student.” “I'm the transfer student.” Sunset looked amused as she sat back in her chair, arms crossed. “What do you think of CHS so far?” “It's... different, but not in a bad way,” Twilight replied. “I mean, Crystal Prep kind of has a rough environment…” “Funny, I had been trying to get into Crystal Prep, but my parents couldn't afford it,” Sunset said. “Went to a school in Manehattan but honestly it was no different from here.” She then took out her phone and looked at it. “Shoot...I have to get going. I have to work on my inaugural speech for Student Council and a bunch of related projects.” She got up and was about to take off before she stoppedand looked back. “Sorry...I never asked your name.” “Twilight.” “Oh. Well it was nice to meet you Twilight. Just one word of advice, from one transfer student to another: people aren't always who they seem.” She then walked off, leaving Twilight sitting there rather confused. She then got up and rejoined the girls. “I don't believe it...she actually talked to you!” Fluttershy said. “Now that's impressive,” Rainbow added. “Is she...really that off-putting?” Twilight asked. Now that she thought of it, her last words before she left were rather odd. “I dunno, I just know she's an egghead and apparently likes to spend time at the lab,” Rainbow said. She then grinned apologetically. “Er...no offense.” “Regardless of what she does,” Applejack said, rolling her eyes. “Maybe you're the friend she finally needs. It seems you two have something in common at least.” Well, Twilight thought, that wasn’t a bad thing right? After School “Ah tell ya, Ah don’t know what that Rainbow will think of next,” Applejack said as she, Pinkie, and Twilight made their way towards the girl’s locker room. “Streaming up a lass like a holiday decoration is serial killer motive and no serial killer poisons their victims and leaves them hanging.” “You mean this has already happened before?” Twilight asked. “Course not,” Applejack snorted. “Ah watch 48 Hours ya know, they’re all the same: they kill someone and it’s like a rush for them.” “So uh…I’m guessing we don’t need a rope this time?” Pinkie asked. “I don’t think so…at least I hope so,” Twilight added. “Just in case Pinkie you stay behind us,” Applejack told her. “Me and Twi here are the only ones currently who can beat up those Shadows…” “I guess I’ll go first then,” Twilight said. She looked around quickly to make sure no one was watching and quickly went inside. The good news was this time there was no gap between where she came in and the ground. In fact, she was standing at the very place they left before. It wasn’t long before Applejack and Pinkie came through. “Wow…it’s darker and…foggier than I would’ve imagined,” Pinkie commented. “Ah think it’s always dark here,” Applejack replied. “Well…it seems clear here.” Of course, they weren’t alone for long. “Twilight, Applejack? Is that you?” They then heard the clopping of hooves on the ground and a familiar pink pony appeared. “Oh Screwball, there you are,” Twilight said. “We brought someone with us, this is-” “Pinkie Pie who helps run a bake shop where you live and is in the same class as you?” Screwball asked. “Oooh I like her already,” Pinkie said. “And she is pretty cute but…” Pinkie went up to her. “Come on, how do we know this isn’t just a costume?” “It’s not a costume I am one hundred percent equine!” Screwball looked offended. Pinkie did an almost Rarity-esque sniff. “Right and I bet you have a magical pony princess too.” She then grabbed Screwball’s head. “I’m sure there’s a zipper here somewhere…” “Let go of my head!” “Pinkie I really don’t think…” Twilight began. “Come on Twilight, it’s like those cartoon mysteries, you just need to tug a little and-” Suddenly there was a loud pop and Pinkie fell over, still holding onto Screwball’s head. Twilight suddenly felt the blood drain out of her while Applejack casually said, “Ah think ya killed her Pinkie…” “Actually no I’m still here…” Somehow (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1ut-eTUMrc), Screwball was still talking. “W-W-W-What!?” Twilight screeched. “That is so cool!” Pinkie said to the head. “How do you do that!?” “I don’t know, I never had somepony pull my head off before,” Screwball said with a bit of attitude. “Hehe…sorry,” Pinkie said bashfully as she managed to get her head back on. “Okay, I’m convinced! You really are the real deal. Does that make us friends now?” “Well…any friend of Twilight is a friend of mine,” Screwball smiled. “Yay!” Pinkie suddenly hugged the poor pony. “Then any friend of yours will be a friend of mine too!” Applejack smiled. “Guess we found a perfect pair now…” Twilight meanwhile was trying not to hyperventilate and took a deep breath. “Well anyway…we had to show Pinkie around, mostly cause she’s in on the secret now too. Is there anywhere here we haven’t explored?” “Well…” Screwball looked around. “There is one place…in that direction.” She pointed east of where they were standing. “But something doesn’t feel right about it…I dunno…” “Are there Shadows there?” Applejack asked. “No…not any that I can detect but…it just doesn’t feel right…” Screwball really seemed reluctant to go that direction. Twilight went over to her and patted her head. “Don’t worry, if anything happens, Applejack and I can protect you.” “Sure thing sugarcube,” Applejack nodded. “And ya don’t need to doubt us after what ya saw.” “That’s true…” Screwball then smiled. “Okay, we’ll go take a look then.” The four of them headed east and it wasn’t long before they came across what looked like an abandoned cabin. “Er…on second thought Ah think Ah can understand what she meant before,” Applejack said, shivering slightly. “Y-Yeah my Pinkie sense is going off the charts! And not in a good way either,” Pinkie added. “Pinkie sense?” Twilight asked. “Oh, I forgot to tell you,” Pinkie said. “It’s kinda like…I sense things before they happen. I don’t know whether they’re good or bad but I’ve come to trust it since it’s helped me out a few times.” “Just go with it,” Applejack said to Twilight. “Amazing! So we kind of have the same abilities then huh?” Screwball asked. Twilight then went forward and opened the door. Even she was feeling uncomfortable with this place but something else told her she had to go see what was inside. “Come on.” As it turned out, there was only one room and once they saw what was inside, Twilight already started to regret her choice. The room was mostly empty but there was paper scattered all over the place. There were also pictures on the wall, but some of them were torn in half or sprayed with what looked like red spray paint in an “X” shape. There was also writing on the walls. There were only two words: “BITCH” and “WHORE”. “Uh…maybe we shouldn’t be here…” Applejack said. She then looked near the back and took a step back. “Is that…?” She saw a chair and right above it was a rope that was tied together into a noose. Any of them could have put two and two together. “Um…maybe we should get out of here…” Pinkie said, who was suddenly panting slightly. “I don’t know why but it’s almost hard to breathe in here…” She was right, even Twilight felt slightly out of breath, as if something was pushing down on her. “Yeah…I think you’re right.” They turned to go but Twilight noticed Screwball was still staring into the room. “Are you okay?” Screwball suddenly shook her head. “Huh? Oh…sorry…I just…” She then turned around and followed the rest of them back out. Immediately it felt like the weight was off of their shoulders but Twilight could feel the preceding pain of a headache coming. “I think from now on if Screwball says not to go there, we probably shouldn’t,” Pinkie said, who appeared to be shivering slightly. “Just what was that exactly?” Applejack asked. Twilight thought for a moment. “Applejack, you remember when we saw the barn, the one from your farm?” “Yeah?” “Well…what if the places we see here reflect those who come into this world,” Twilight said. “I think Twilight is right, I felt a familiar presence when we were in there,” Screwball said. “The one who came into this world before?” Twilight asked. “Yes…she was…scared…depressed…” Screwball said. “I think what we saw was a representation of her inner thoughts.” “Who?” Applejack asked. “I’m not sure but…” “I think I might have an idea…” Twilight said. “As we saw, the girl, we can assume now she’s definitely female, was being harassed and it drove her to the brink of committing suicide.” She paused for a moment. “This is only a theory but…I think maybe it was that reporter that was killed.” “Whoa! You figured all that just by that room?” Pinkie asked. Twilight shrugged. “It’s only a guess at this point. The police haven’t disclosed the autopsy yet.” “If that’s true then it sounds like our reporter was involved in some scandal,” Applejack said. “But…if she committed suicide, it doesn’t match up with what Rainbow said, assuming what she heard was the truth.” “Or maybe she had a health issue and somehow was on the roof when she died?” Pinkie suggested. Applejack snorted. “She’s too young to have a heart attack or stroke or whatever if that’s what yer getting at.” “I think maybe it’s time we head back,” Twilight said. “Is that alright with you Pinkie?” “I suppose…other than this creepy cabin it’s actually kind of…relaxing here…” Pinkie said. “If I may ask…is your world much different than here?” Screwball asked. “If ya mean does it have people and sunlight then yes it is,” Applejack said. “You interested in checking it out?” “I…think I’ll pass for now. I know it isn’t much but it’s still home to me…at least I feel that way about it.” The four of them headed back to where they first entered. “Now remember Pinkie, Ah know its horribly tempting but ya can’t tell anyone else about this place,” Applejack said. “It’s not safe here for others and we don’t wanna give Screwball a heart attack.” “Oh…I don’t mind the attention…just no pulling off limbs please.” Pinkie smiled. “Whenever you do decide to come over, I promise I’ll spend the whole day showing everything to you, especially what’s at the Sweete Shop!” “Oooh I do like sweets…okay I’ll make sure to remember that offer!” “We better head back then…be careful Screwball and we’ll try to come visit again soon.” Evening After the three of them returned, they all went home. Twilight immediately got to feeding Spike and herself once she got home and it wasn’t long before Shining got home as well. Around five o’clock the evening news began. “Our top story tonight is the mysterious death that took place earlier this week in Canterlot,” the news anchor said. “Local police have recently released details of the autopsy that took place and upon discovery they made a startling discovery: they were not able to find any obvious external signs of homicide nor were they able to find anything in the woman’s system that would suggest anything of foul play.” “That’s bullshit,” Shining said. “What, she was on someone’s roof and suddenly just dropped dead?” “You know more about health than I do Shining,” Twilight commented. Shining rolled his eyes. “I’m no detective but everything here screams murder, of some sort. They probably just don’t want to scare the residents here. Oh yeah, Cadance is coming tomorrow so let’s not talk about any of this okay?” “I agree,” Twilight said. “She’s going to have plenty of things to ask me as is anyway.” Afterwards, Twilight went to her room and turned on her laptop. She looked online for the article of the investigation and it offered as much information as was said on TV. Questions were going through her head but there was one even she couldn’t figure out how to explain. Did the reporter have the same power as she did? //-------------------------------------------------------// Fri 9/2 //-------------------------------------------------------// Fri 9/2 Early Morning As Twilight was walking to school, she heard two female students ahead of her having a conversation. “Say, did you hear a bunch of the sports teams, for guys and girls, have listed openings?” one of them said. “Oh really? Hmm…if they have any openings for tennis I might be interested…though I heard it’s pretty tough cause you’re running around a lot,” the other said. “That’s like half of the sports here,” the first girl said. “Anyway, field hockey doesn’t sound too bad…but probably not soccer though. They already have talent as is.” Twilight had to admit she wasn’t the most athletic of girls, but she figured it couldn’t hurt to keep herself in shape. Morning “So yer thinking of joining a sports club?” Applejack asked before class started. She and the other girls were hanging out outside. “Ah heard most of the teams have openings so take yer pick.” “Obviously she should join the soccer team,” Dash said matter-of-factly. “I mean, sure you got me on the team but any newcomers are welcome.” “Ah think we should let Twilight decide Rainbow Dash,” Applejack replied, giving her a stern look. “Well, I’m on the tennis team and yeah it’s pretty tough you’re not really good at endurance,” Pinkie Pie said. “There’s the cross country team though. I mean you do a lot of running but that’s it pretty much.” “Speaking of running,” Dash said. “AJ, I hope you’re planning on joining the track team this spring. We need shot-put throwers.” Applejack sighed. “Ah dunno…Ah want to but it’s gonna be hard to leave all the work at home to Big Mac, especially if Apple Bloom decides to do something.” “So…ask her,” Dash said simply. “Hmm…Ah’ll ask her once we get close to spring but until then it’s a maybe.” “Okay, then Twilight, you need to join as well,” Dash grinned. “You got pretty long legs maybe you can do hurdling.” Twilight could only imagine how terrible that would go. “Um…I’ll think about it. But going back to fall sports, maybe I’ll check out cross country.” “Ugh, fine…” Dash said. “But if you change your mind…” “Ah doubt it…” Applejack muttered. “At least she’s doing something…” “I don’t know why you’re giving me that look darling,” Rarity sniffed. “I simply do not have time when I’m the head of the Fashion Club and besides, I get my exercise when I can.” “Running on the treadmill at the gym hardly counts,” Dash pointed out. “Hmph! I don’t see you complaining to Fluttershy about it.” “Actually, Ah’ve seen Fluttershy carry two bags of chicken feed by herself so yeah she keeps in shape,” Applejack said. Fluttershy blushed. “Oh…they’re not that heavy…you just build strength from it that’s all.” “Ya know…I could always ask Fluttershy if she wants to do shot-put,” Dash wondered. After School Once classes were over, Twilight headed to the girl’s locker room. When she asked for the cross country coach, she was quickly directed to her office. “So you’re thinking of joining?” the coach asked. “Just out of curiosity, what would you consider your athletic level?” Twilight was almost ashamed to admit it. “I guess I would say casual…” “You’re not the first and you won’t be the last,” the coach chuckled. “Well, we have a meet on Tuesday but unfortunately because of the timing you won’t be able to participate in it. However, you’re welcome to tag along and get an idea of what it’s like.” “That’s fine.” She was probably going to have to build up her stamina anyway. “For today you don’t have to participate but as you probably know we have practice five days a week unless a meet is scheduled so try to come when you can.” “I brought shorts so I’m willing to do some running.” “At least until my lungs give out…” “Excellent. We’ll be meeting down at the field so get changed quickly.” Twilight quickly changed into a t-shirt and shorts. Thankfully for gym class she always made sure to bring sneakers. She then noticed the shower stalls. “So uh…the showers here get used much?” she said to the student next to her, trying to make conversation. “We don’t, it’s kind of more of a guy thing, although apparently it’s become a tradition with the girl’s soccer team,” the girl replied with a slight giggle. Somehow that didn’t surprise Twilight very much. Knowing Rainbow Dash, she was probably the first one in there. But now that she thought about it, she didn’t see Dash at all. Perhaps there was more than one girl’s locker room at the school. Once they were at the field, Twilight noticed the guys and girls were currently stretching together. Altogether, it looked to be only about thirty to forty people. “Hey, we got a new face.” https://camo.derpicdn.net/459a3c830e3c143edf5ffa737d85e49a8ce16332?url=http%3A%2F%2Fvignette2.wikia.nocookie.net%2Fmlp%2Fimages%2F6%2F60%2FHeath_Burns_ID_EG.png%2Frevision%2Flatest%3Fcb%3D20130727072208 Twilight turned around and saw a guy about her size with short red hair with a red t-shirt and white shorts. “Er…yep that’s me. New girl, new face,” she replied. “That’s right…Twilight right? I’m Heath, captain of the boy’s team.” They shook hands. “I’m surprised to see you here actually; I would’ve thought you’d be pressured into the soccer team.” “Oh…I did, technically,” Twilight laughed. “But I’m more cut off for something simple like running.” “Hey, you two gonna get stretching or what?” one of the other athletes called out. “Sorry, I’m already a bad influence,” Heath said. The two of them started stretching. “I’m guessing you’re kind of new at this.” “What gave it away?” “Just a guess. Coach always says it’s good to have a running partner during practice to help everyone keep pace. Mind if I partner up with you?” “Oh!” She was now lying on her butt stretching and needless to say she was stretching muscles she wasn’t even aware of. “Well, considering you’re captain you must be pretty good so I don’t want to hold you back.” “Nah, don’t worry about it, but don’t think I’ll go too easy on you. Truthfully, cross country just keeps me in shape for track and field in the spring. Besides, sports like football and soccer have way too many risks for injury and I’m not taking those chances.” Again, that said a lot about Rainbow Dash. “Well…alright if you insist. I’ll try not to do too badly today.” The practice was pretty straight forward. They did warm-up laps and then jogged all the way into downtown. As Twilight expected, she was one of the slower runners but Heath kept coming back to her, trying to keep her from quitting so easily. By the end of it all, she was exhausted. “Not too bad Twilight,” her coach said, patting her shoulder. “It may seem rough at first but after a few days you’ll start building up your endurance and a simple 5K will feel like nothing.” “Nothing…right…” Twilight panted. “Like I said, it’s just running but we all try to keep it entertaining,” Heath said. “So…any second thoughts?” Twilight managed a laugh before coughing slightly. “I’ve never been known to be a quitter so no…I think I’ll stay on.” Suddenly there was a flash of light and Twilight could hear a soft, deep voice speaking into her ear. Thou art I…And I am thou… Thou hast established a new bond… Thou shalt be blessed when creating Personas of the Magician Arcana… In that moment it was as if time stopped all on its own. But once the words faded, time seemed to resume. “Well, I better get going, there’s someone I need to get a hold of,” Heath said, chuckling slightly as a slight blush crossed onto his face. “Again, welcome to the team Twilight.” After he left, Twilight went back and got her stuff and changed back into her school clothes before heading home. Evening “Twilight!” She was greeted with a hug from Cadance once she went through the door. However, the hug didn’t last long. “Wow um…I guess school has kept you busy cause you smell like sweat…” “Sorry,” Twilight giggled. “I may have…signed up for the cross country team.” “What!?” Suddenly Shining Armor was in the living room. “You’re actually doing a sport and you didn’t tell me!?” “Don’t you dare Shining,” Cadance said with a stern look. “She’s your sister and you’re not going to act like her coach.” “But…” “And you’re not going to hold anything against her because she now represents Canterlot High,” Cadance continued. “Understood?” Shining quickly deflated under her gaze. “Understood…” “Well, then this calls for a celebration, luckily I brought some home-cooking for all of us.” Cadance then walked back into the kitchen. “Oh yeah Twilight, I managed to get the rest of your stuff from Crystal Prep. I put it all outside of your room.” Twilight’s eyes sparkled. “Cadance you are the best!” She then looked over and gave her brother a look. “You weren’t going to give me a hard time about this, were you?” “What? No, I wouldn’t do that Twily…” “Good, so you’ll have no issue cheering for me, especially if we play Crystal Prep.” Shining sighed. “Right…no issue.” Cadance’s home-cooking just happened to be a pre-made lasagna she had whipped and needless to say Twilight was quite ready to dig in. Afterwards, the three of them spent most of the evening chatting about school and then watching TV. Thankfully there was nothing big on the news. Later on in her room, Twilight got a call from Rainbow Dash. “Hey Rainbow Dash, what’s up?” “Yo listen, I’m not sure if anyone already told you but our first soccer match is tomorrow at the school. All of the girls are coming so I hope you can too.” “Oh…no I guess I wasn’t paying attention to that but I’ll certainly be there. What time is it at?” “One o’clock so don’t be late okay? You’ve seen me talk the talk so now I gotta walk the walk.” “Right…hey Dash?” “Yeah?” “Is it true you…use the showers at school?” “Ya heard about that huh?” Twilight could tell she was grinning on the other end. “Yeah…proud tradition that I’m holding up. Actually, as far as I know Spitfire started that but yeah after all that running and sweating I’m the first one to jump in and-” “Okay, okay, I don’t need to hear anymore!” Twilight facepalmed and felt quite awkward now. Dash burst out laughing. “What’s wrong Twilight? Afraid to show a little skin around other girls? Or does me talking about my voluptuous-” “That’s pushing it.” “Ouch…hehe, well anyway, you better be there tomorrow and make sure to cheer loud!” Dash then hung up and Twilight leaned back in her chair shaking her head. She then looked over to Spike, who had been sleeping and had one eye on her. “I tell you Spike…Crystal Prep doesn’t even come close when it comes to how weird some of the people here are.” Author's Note Twilight has established the Teammate Social Link!
