The Chronicles of Equui Lumen Noxxus
Chapter 5
Previous ChapterNext ChapterApple Bloom stood at the door to their home, looking at Applejack, who was preparing to head out to Pinkie Pie's party, and later, to attend the Summer Sun Celebration at the town hall.
"But why can't I go with? Ah wanna see Princess Celestia raise the Sun too!" Apple Bloom said.
"Ya can't, sugar. You got school tomorrow, and ah'm sure Miss Cherilee wouldn't appreciate ya fallin' asleep in class. The party and the Celebration run pretty late." Applejack replied as she walked towards the door.
"But it's not fair! Diamond Tiara gets to go."
"And that's her parent's decision to let her go. But ah'm not letting you. You need to get some shuteye, Apple Bloom."
"Awwww..."
"Now, you march on upstairs and get ready for bed. I told Granny you could stay up fer a bit and read before ya go to bed, if ya wanted to." Applejack gently hugged little Apple Bloom before slipping out the door.
Granny Smith plodded up behind her and said, "Don't worry Apple Bloom, yer big sister used't be in the same horseshoes as you when she was yer age. Now how's about you get upstairs like she said and get ready fer bed, and I'll be up in a few to tuck ya in." Granny Smith turned around and walked towards the kitchen, as Apple Bloom turned and walked towards the stairs.
As she went up, she mumbled to herself, "It's no fair they get to stay up and see the Summer Sun celebration, and 'ah don't." she huffed as she reached he top of the stairs. The hallway had seven doors in it, three on either side, and one at the end, that led to the bathroom. From the left, there was a room for her, her sister's room next to it, an at the end of the hall, her big brother, Big Macintosh's room. On the right, there was Granny Smith's room, a closet, and a room that had always been locked, but contained a cutie mark resembling a hammer and tongs, surrounded by two hemi-circles representing the sun and the moon on the door.
She had never been in the room before, and whenever she asked what was inside, she was told not to worry about it, and the conversation would be immediately changed. No one has ever gone into the room, and it stays locked all day, every day. She looked up at the door, noticing a glowing emblem on it. She shrugged it off, and headed to the bathroom.
A few minutes later, she was out of the bathroom, and reading in her bed, when Granny Smith walked in, and said, "Aaaalright Apple Bloom, it's time to go't bed." Apple Bloom closed the book she was reading and slipped under the covers, as Granny Smith walked over to the window, opening it, and letting a cool breeze through. She walked over to the bed and pulled the covers up a bit for Apple Bloom, before patting her on the head, and saying, "Goodnight, Apple Bloom." to which she replied, "Goodnight, Granny." Granny Smith put the lamp out, and closed the door, going back downstairs to probably sit in her rocking chair and relax until Applejack got home. Apple Bloom sighed and shut her eyes, relaxing in her bed as a gentle breeze blew through the window, rustling the curtains softly.
Outside, the moon was still making it's ascent into the sky, not yet having reached it's apex. Her body began to feel heavy as sleep slowly began to overcome her, but just as she was about to fall asleep, she heard unfamiliar hoofsteps making it's way up the stairs. Softly, but slowly, with the occasional creak of the floorboard, did the steps grow closer. She rolled over in her bed to face the door, and watched as a light-blueish light slowly grew brighter from the gap under her door. The hoofsteps stopped at her door, and an aura glowed blue around the handle, as it slowly turned.
She immediately shut her eyes, just enough to make it seem like she was asleep, but cracked open just enough to see. As the door opened, a hooded figure peered into the room, looking around, and then to Apple Bloom's bed. She couldn't make out who it was, but watched as he slowly partially closed the door, and proceeded down the hall.
She slipped quietly out of the bed, and followed, slowly opening the door just enough to peak around corner, and see the figure make his way to the last door on the right. He levitated a key that had been hidden on the trim above the door, and unlocked the door, stepping inside. She slowly made her way down the hall, avoiding all the boards she knew were creaky. She walked close to the wall, and peered through the open door. Inside, the hooded figure had his back to her and was looking around the room. He unclipped the robe, and let it fall to the floor, revealing his black and white coat, and a cutie mark that Apple Bloom was familiar with, all too well.
