My Little Pony: Restoring Equestria

Chapter 1 - Start

Oh, my head... what in the heck happened last night?

The newcomer slowly opened his eyes, and tried to stand up, his body feeling a little wobbily.

If this is what a hangover feels like... I'm stayin' AWAY from...

Before he could finish his thought, he noticed a large pond nearby.

Water!

So, as fast as he could, the newcomer went over to it, and dunked his head inside, drinking as much water he possibly could.

Lifting his head out, he then shook it around, trying to wake up and clear his head more so that-

Wait a second.

He then stopped after noticing his reflection in the still-rippling water.

Did I just see...?

Once the water was still, and showed a more clear reflection, the newcomer's eyes went wide as he prepared to scream out-

"Aaaaaugggghhh!"

Wait, that sounded familiar... like a girl...

Facing the direction that it was coming from, he looked down at his new body, and sighed. Well, I always did like riding horses... or in my case, an earth Pony.

So, the pony began running straight, thinking to himself, You know, this is actually a lot easier than I - whoa!

He then accidently tripped over a few rocks, and found himself falling to the ground.

Never mind.

"Well, well, well... look who finally decided to wake up."

Looking around, he groaned, and said, "What in the..."

"Behind you..."

He turned around, and saw a cloaked figure in front of him... floating in the air.

"Who are you?"

The mysterious figure replied, "My name is Rowan... and I bet you're wondering what is going on right now?"

"Um, yeah, that would be nice of you to tell me," answered the Earth Pony.

Instead of an answer, Rowan simply chuckled.

"Look, man, I didn't ask you to laugh, I want you to tell me-"

Wham!

"Oh, my head..."

However, instead of hearing Rowan's voice, he heard a female one.

"Oh, my gosh, I am so sorry!"

"See, Twilight, I told you that you didn't have to run so fast."

The Earth Pony shook his head a little, standing up on all fours, and said, "No, it's fine, I just... whoa... Princess Twilight?"

"Not for the moment, she isn't..."

The three of them turned to the side, and saw Rowan, still hovering in the air, his face hidden underneath his jet-black, cloaked hood.

"What do you mean I'm not?" Twilight Sparkle said, starting to frown. "I'm the Princess of Friendship."

"That may be true, yes, but right now, you are simply the same unicorn that you were the first day you arrived here."

She frowned, and said, "I don't know what you... *gasp* my wings are gone!"

Rowan laughed as Twilight began to run in circles, shocked at the fact that she was no longer an alicorn.

"What did you do to her?" Spike cried, a frown on his face.

"As I said, she's the exact same way as she was since her arrival in Ponyville."

Before Twilight could respond, however, the Earth pony said, "How is this Ponyville? I don't see anyone or anything except us."

"That's because they have yet to be unlocked," responded Rowan. "And believe me, you all have a LONG WAY to go before you get the chance to defeat me."

The Earth Pony (who had a strawberry roan coat, as well as a navy-blue colored mane and tail) gritted his teeth, and said, "I don't mind beating the hay out of you right now."

"Oh, believe me, there will be a time for that, my friend," replied Rowan. "But until then... you all have work to do... ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!"

Then, in a quick flash of light, he was gone, leaving the Earth Pony with Spike and Twilight.

"Okay, that was weird," said the young dragon.

Turning to look at their new friend, he asked, "Hey, um, sir, what's your name?"

"Me?" The Earth Pony replied.

I can't tell them my real name yet, though, or that they are actually part of a televi-

"Sir?"

"Huh, oh, sorry... um, my name is Ambrose."

I hope the WWE doesn't sue me for this.

"Ambrose, huh?" Spike replied. "That what your cutie mark stands for?"

"My..." Ambrose turned to look at the side of his flank, and saw a silver crescent moon symbol, along with two silver stars of the same color

"Um... not exactly," chuckled the Earth Pony. "I have a fascination with knowledge and stuff about outer space and the galaxies that-"

"I lost my wings!" cried Twilight, as she collapsed onto the ground.

As Spike went over to comfort the purple unicorn, Ambrose noticed that Rowan had left something behind.

"What in the world..."

Walking over to where Rowan had been, Ambrose found himself looking at a brown-colored and gold-binded book that had some type of star-shaped symbol on the cover.

"Hey, guys? Might wanna take a look at this!"

Twilight and Spike came over to look at the book, but before Ambrose could open it, she said, "Wait a minute... um... sorry, but, um, you have any idea what's going on here?"

Of course he doesn't.

They heard Rowan's voice, but he was nowhere to be found.

"What are you playing at, man?" exclaimed Ambrose.

It's simple, really. You complete the quests that appear in the book, one-by-one, and little by little, everything will return the way it was.

"And I'll be an alicorn again?"

Precisely, Twilight... but let's just say that, by the time you reach me, you'll already be too late...

Twilight also began to frown in anger.

However, in the meantime, I will allow ONE of your pony friends, Princess, to help you on this journey.

"Only one?"

The rest you'll have to get back on your own... ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!

Once the laughter went away, Ambrose opened the book, and they all saw a list of names on the first page.

"Pinkie Pie, Applejack... Rarity, Fluttershy..." said Twilight, reading aloud. "And Rainbow Dash..."

Ambrose thought, Why does this all seem familiar?

"We can only pick one?" Spike asked.

The Earth Pony sighed, and said, "My memory is a little fuzzy about all this, but... yeah, he's only allowing us one friend to choose... everyone else has to be unlocked once we complete the quests in the book."

"But why do we... how is this..." exclaimed a worried and upset Twilight.

Placing a comforting hoof around her, Ambrose said, "Look, Twilight... I promise that we will fix this. All of it."

She looked at her new friend, and sighed before saying, "Okay... I am just confused about all this."

"That makes two of us," chuckled Ambrose. "Now, um... which of your friends do you want to help us?"
