Flutter Shy & Flutter Hide

Fluttershy was walking up the path to her home. Her saddlebag was full of bottles and vials along with other glass instruments and pipes. After closing the door behind her, Fluttershy walked over to a table with a large old book with a red worn cover and browning pages. After flipping thought some of the pages she found what she was looking for and began setting up the items from her bag. The completed arrangement of the bottles and pipes looked like the work of a mad scientist or an ancient alchemist. Colorful fluids flowed though the pipes and glass tubes, moving from bottle to bottle, mixing and changing as they went.

“Ok, now for some essence of Poison Joke and that should be everything”

After she pored in the last bottle of a blue liquid into the funnel on the top of the glass chemistry set, the fluids all rushed together into the large middle orb of the set. The mixture was at first a rainbow of colors, before finally turning into translucent dark bluish green liquid and flowing from the bottom of the orb into a pipe that led to a long necked cone shaped bottle at the end of the table. Fluttershy waited until the last drop had fallen into the bottle before she picked it up with her hoof. She raised the bottle to the light and stared at it for a moment before realizing that she wasn’t alone. Angel Bunny was standing right behind her.

“Oh, I’m sorry Angel, I didn’t hear you come in”

Angel raised an eyebrow at the formula in Fluttershy’s hoof…

“Oh this, well…you see…”

She let out a sigh…

“The thing is…I want to be a little more confident with other Pony’s, but I don’t want to stop being myself like I was when I was learning from IronWill, so I was looking though some of the surviving books from Twilights old liberty and I found this one with a potion that will give me a little more…well as Rainbow Dash would say…spine”

She put her hoof on the page of the book and read…

“You will feel like a completely different pony, so I thought I would give it a try”

Angel crossed his little bunny arms and looked at her…

“oh I know your worried about me, but there’s also a cure to the potion right next to it, if anything happens I can just make the antidote and it will be like nothing ever happened”

Angel was not convinced…

“Well, here goes nothing!”

Fluttershy raised the bottle to her lips and drank the dark colored liquid in four large gulps. She carefully placed the bottle back on the table and licked her lips in thought.

“Hum, I thought it would taste terrible, it’s actually a lot like green te…eee…eeeee”

Fluttershy shook a little as the strength slowly left her legs causing her to sway and her knees to buckle. There was a hot spiky feeling in her stomach like a cross between sunburn and pins and needles. She sweated and her vision became distorted and shifted from in and out of focus. It took all her strength to not collapse; all she could do was let out a soft moan. Next her head felt like it was becoming clouded like she had a cold and thinking became difficult. The hot tingle feeling in her stomach became worse as it grew out into her chest and went into her limbs, the heat showed itself on her body like veins, making every part that felt hot into a bolder and slightly darker color. Her moaning became louder, deeper, bolder until it turned in to a scream, and when she stopped, the heat and tingle had spread completely though her body, and then finally disappeared. Fluttershy felt the strength return to her stronger than ever. She breathed heavily for a moment before picking up the bottle in her hoof and looking at it for a moment.

“What the buck did I just drink?”

Fluttershy’s head shot up in shock, what did she just say? And what was wrong with her voice, it sounded different. No. It was the same as it was before, but it had lost its meekness, that soft quietness that had always been there, even when she was altered by Discord or with IronWill there had been that warm fuzziness to her voice, but not anymore.

“What the hay…WHAT THE HAY…I SOUND LIKE A PRO WEASLER”

Fluttershy rushed to the nearest mirror to look at herself. What she saw was a surprise. She looked the same, but her posture was more; bold, confident, her body language was completely different than the meek mannered pony from a minuet ago. The color of her body had also changed; her light yellow body was now a strong hard yellow, and her main had changed from a soft pink to a light pinkish red. And without the softness her eyes once had, they had become elongated and confident, not to mention changing from moderate cyan to a bright indigo. Fluttershy looked back onto her flank, her cutie mark had changed a little bit too. The colors had darkened like the rest of her but it was still three butterflies, but their wings had become squared and ragged meaning that they had become moths. She looked back at the mirror and slowly smiled. She posed in front of it for a moment before turning around and grinned.

“HA! That crap actually worked! I feel like a totally different Pony! I feel invincible, I feel Brave, I feel…”

She stopped as she saw the small worried bunny looking at her with fearful eyes. Him being afraid of me without using the stare she thought, that’s a new one. She walked over to the bunny and rubbed the top of his head playfully…

“Don’t worry little guy, I may sound a little more tough but I’m still me where it counts, now if you excuse me, this girls going to town”

Fluttershy began to walk to the door until she thought about something. She rushed back to the mirror and looked at herself again. After moving her head from side to side for a moment, she decided that she needed a change in style.

“Do I have a scrunch or anything?”

Then she remembered that there was a small dog collar in the dresser. She ran over and took the collar out, it was too small for any dog to wear, but it was perfect for a hairband. It was black and had metal spikes on it, she felt like she would never dream of wearing anything like this before, but now she felt it was perfect. There was also a red ragged cloth in the dresser, she thought about it and tied it around her neck so that it was like a short red cape of sorts. She walked back to the mirror and used the collar to make her main into a ponytail.

“Now that more like it!”

Fluttershy walked out the door into the bright sunlight. All the animals that lived around her home couldn’t help but look at this strange new pony that resembled their dearest friend. Fluttershy slowed down a little and then stopped.

“waaaaaait, why am I walking, I’m a Pegasus, I CAN FLY”

And with that she shot into the air like a bullet causing the animals around to be blown back. Angel rushed outside to see the white line in the sky caused by his friend. He was worried like never before.
