The New Exciting Life of Sonata Dusk
Chapter 1 A Brand New Day
Morning was coming to the town of Ponyville. The sun was rising over the mountains, the land was bathed in a slow yellow light, and everypony was opening there eyes to another day in there peaceful little world (peaceful meaning nothing like a monster attack or grate disaster has happened in the last few days, two more and it would be a new record) and in a quaint little house near the market place, resting in her bed, a pony was just waking up.
She was an earth pony with a light blue body and blue and purple streaked hair tied into a ponytail (or a seconded ponytail in this case) she rubbed the sleep out of her dark pink eyes and made her way to the bathroom. The first thing this little pony was going to do was wash herself up in the shower. The water cascaded down her body and dripped down her cutie mart that took the form of a dark pink heart with a lightning shaped music note across it. As she rubbed the soap into her hair she opened her mouth to sing. A single note escaped her mouth when she realized what she was doing and slapped her mouth shut. As the note died away she moved her hoofs away from herself and sighed, she really needed to be more careful.
Later the Pony walked down to the center of town where the water fountain was and sat rump first down on the edge of it (one mint color pony pointing her out saying it was nice to see somepony else sitting like that) she looked up at the beautiful sky and thought back to a month ago when she first returned to Equestria.
It was a stormy night. Twilight Sparkle was in her library reading about the magical object at the side of the room. The Crystal Mirror was something that was shrouded in mystery; even Starswirl the Bearded didn’t know where it came from. He did however find a way to replicate it to some degree and she herself found a way to open it without having to wait for it to open itself every 30 moons, such as this night. As Twilight turned the page to the book she was looking though, the Mirror began to glow and something fell though it onto the ground in an echoing thud. Twilight rushed towards the body. It was cut, bruised and bloody with messy hair and a tired look to its closed eyes. Twilight looked back up and saw that another pony had come trough the mirror. A yellow pony with red and yellow hair and greenish blue eyes full of tears. Sunset Shimmer looked at her friend with a worried and pleading face.
“Twilight, Please, Sonata Needs Help”
Sonata looked down between her legs and saw a few drops of tears had fallen into the fountain. She rubbed her eyes dry and walked down to the bakery where Pinkie Pie worked and ordered three hot banana nut apple muffins and a mug of hot chocolate. It was such a nice day she decided to eat in the park today. It was times like this she thought how truly lucky she was to be here like this.
“You want me to what!”
Twilight and Sunset where sitting on ether side of a table with Sonata on a couch across the room, bandaged up in a deep sleeping.
“Let her stay here in Equestria, she doesn’t have to stay here in the castle just…just not over there, in the human world”
Twilight put her hoof to her head in thought. The last time she saw Sonata Dusk she was with Adagio Dazzle and Aria Blaze using their Siren song power to make everypony, no, everybody into there slaves and feed of there negative emotions as one of the Dazzlings. Although all things considered she was the less cruel and deceitful of the three and Twilight has had experience with former villains reforming and becoming friends with her like Discord or Starlight Glimmer, or ever Sunset herself. But they didn’t feed on things like anger or hate like Siren’s do and…Twilight put her hoof down and looked back on the figure on the couch silently breathing and wrapped in blood stained bandages.
“First of all, why is she a pony and not a siren?”
“I don’t know, I was just as surprised as you where when I saw her. Its possible that destroying those red crystals that gave them there magic affected them, or an affect of the mirror or some other factor that I haven’t thought of, but I think this might be for the best”
Twilight looked at the sleeping mare. True she had the shape of a pony, but from the magic she was unknowingly giving off like the sent of an animal she was still and siren. An injured half starved siren. Twilight looked back at Sunset.
“What happened to her?”
“From what I can tell things have gotten pretty rough for the Dazzling’s since loosing there magic, and since Sonata is the most vulnerable the three she became the focus of there wrath. As somebody who…I mean somepony who used to make situations like that its often common for groups to vent there frustrations on the weakest of them”
“You mean…those wounds are from”
“Oh no those where from her running away and hiding from them”
“What!”
“I was just heading home from the store tonight when I found her in an ally collapsed on the ground. I hadn’t gone two blocks away when I saw the other two literally ripping another ally apart looking for her. I thought about hiding her at my house but I knew that I would be one of the first people they would be after to find her. That’s when I remembered that the Mirror would be working tonight and headed hear”
Twilight looked down at her hoofs sheepishly taking in all that she heard. Sunset put her own hoof one the Twilights.
“Twilight. I saw the look in her eyes. She was scared, miserable, desperate, everything that I used to inflict on others, everything that I have vowed to relieve other of. I know she has done things that are not easily forgiven, but this is a chance for her to have a fresh start. Away from her old self, her past, Just give her that chance Twilight.”
Twilight looked deep into Sunsets eyes with conflicted feelings of forgiveness and caution. Sunset pressed her hoof harder.
“Please. Everypony deserves a seconded chance. Even her. Just like…you gave me”
As Sonata ate under the shade of a tree, Twilight watched her from a few feet away.
“So far so good, Sonata has remembered not to sing or use any of her magic”
Twilight looked back at her castle, and the mirror inside of it.
“I just hope that they don’t figure out where she is or how to get here, or we could all be in serious danger”
Twilight looked back at Sonata eating happily. She sighed and smiled a little.
“But maybe, just maybe, for that happiness, it worth the risk”

Sonata was sitting on a bench deep in thought. She had been living on her own for a month living on the money that Twilight had given her. She might not be the sharpest tool in the shed (in fact some would say she was beyond blunt) but she new that she needed money and soon, and that means getting a job. Back in the old days she never needed money since she and the others just used there song magic to hypnotize others or feed of there negativity, but those days where over and done with. Sonata put her head in her hoofs in thought. If only she could sing without causing anything to go wrong. She never tolled the others but she didn’t need the crystals to make her sing properly, she just didn’t want to give them a reason to hate her (well any more reason to hate her now) Sonata had asked Twilight if there was a way but she said that it was too risky at the moment, and that it might cause whatever turned her into a pony to reverse and making her turn into a siren again. There where things she did miss about her old self like being able to swim and fly and the shiny scales that she would love to see glisten in the sun light, but she defiantly thought that her pony self was cuter. It slowly dawned on her something that she hadn’t realized since coming here.
She had no friends.
Sonata raised her head in self-realization. How did she not notice this before, Twilight distanced herself from her too much and she hadn’t seen Sunset since she arrived. They’re where a lot of friendly ponies here but it was hard to connect with any of them when you have to hide what you are. Sonata got of her seat and raised her hoof in the air.
“I swear by King Leo of Aquastria and the Cosmic Council, that before this day is done, I will have friends!”
This speech was cut off abruptly when something grey and yellow fell from the sky crushing her under it.
“Woops, sorry”
Sonata crawled out from under the thing that fell on her and realized that it was a grey Pegasus with straw blond hair.
“ow, that hurt…hay are you all…”
Sonata stopped when she saw that the pony’s eyes weren’t pointing in the same direction.
“OH SWEET LEO SHE HAS BRAIN DAMAGE!!!”
The grey pony looked up at her confused. “…What? OH YOU MEAN MY…oh d-don’t worry about it, my eyes are always like this”
Sonata looked at the pony as she was getting herself up. “…What?”
“I have Strabismus, its just something that I have had since I was born, its more a brain thing than an eye thing”
Sonata’s mouth was open in shock “that’s a real thing!? That’s…that’s horrible”
“Oh don’t worry its not a problem, I can still see just fine…it just…looks weird”
The grey pony went silent. Sonata rubbed her hoofs awkwardly. She cleared her thought and spoke “lets start again, my name is Sonata Dusk”
The Grey pony raised her head “oh yeah you’re the pony that moved here a month ago”
“Yep that’s me”
“Wow, I never thought a siren cool look so pret…” the pony quickly put her hoof to her mouth and looked side to side before putting her hoofs back down. Sonata kept her eyes on her the whole time.
“You think I look pretty…no wait, what was that bit you said about me being a siren…that I am not…wait did Twilight tell you?”
The Pony looked at her than over both her shoulders making sure nopony could hear them. “Maybe it would be better if I introduced you to somepony I know” she then took Sonata’s hoof and led her away to the suburban part of town. They would have gotten there faster but the pony seemed to be have problems, falling into holes in the road, tripping on rocks, walking into lamp posts, it was as she was pulling the Pegasus out of a hay stack she had tripped into that Sonata decided to bring this up.
“Are you sure your OK?”
The pony brushed the hay out of her hair and replied “yeah this is normal for me, you probably don’t know this because your new around here but I kind of have a reputation for being…well…a jinx…and a klutz…and most notably, the stupid one”
Sonata’s eyes widened “the stupid one?”
“Yeah, I tend to mess things up a lot one way or another and ponies have kind of gotten used to the idea that anything that involves Derpy Hooves as a disaster waiting to happen”
“Derpy…is that your name”
“Yes, but just between you and me I’m not really sure if my name is Derpy or Ditzy or Muffins or whatever the writer’s and fan community have really messed me up with that”
If your done braking the forth wall could I continue the story
“Sorry, please continue”
Sonata looked down at the ground reflecting on this and spoke “you know people, I mean Ponies…or maybe I do mean people, anyway others have called me stupid too, you’re the worst Sonata, you can’t do anything right Sonata, why are you so useless Sonata, stand still so I can hit you Sonata…that last one wasn’t as bad as it sounded”
The two looked at each other eye to eye (this was one of those moments where Derpy’s eyes where both pointing in the same direction) with both sensing a strong connection and understanding between the two. Noticing that she was starting to tear up Derpy wiped her eyes and continued to lead Sonata down the road.
