//-------------------------------------------------------// The world of SunBeam -by ZoiAeras- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Prolgue //-------------------------------------------------------// Prolgue The snow crunched underneath my hooves,  the pine trees that usually reached put for you sagged underneath the heavy snow. Every breath of the cold early morning air froze my insides. I was very thankful for the fur-lined winter coat. I came from a very rich house so it wasn't anything special. My thoughts conflicted, I always like to walk when I had tough decisions to make. My father was a high lord of Prugan, our country, and he arranged my marriage with some other lord who was twice as old as me. Such a marriage would never work, it was just a play for power. I sighed, I was planning on refusing. He couldn't beat me into submission. My "gift" in this case was a blessing, not that, not feeling pain was a gift. There were countless times when I was younger when I would hurt myself and have someone else point it out, so I could know. I would find walking and get bitten, and wouldn't know. I have plenty of scars from when I was younger. Souvenirs as I liked to call them. I was startled out of my thoughts when I nearly ran into the brick wall that went around our yard. It was massive, it seemed a little over ten feet tall, made out of sturdy cobblestone. Decorated with iron spikes on top. I had tried climbing it once in my younger years, one of the spikes got me on the back leg, causing me to fall backwards. Would it have been a bad thing, though? Dieng? I couldn't feel the pain, it would be more of a peaceful death, to have, then again all death wouldn't hurt for me. Pain is such an abstract concept. "Okay, SunBeam, let's think about something different," I nervously stated, not that I wanted to kill myself, I was just unstable, at times. I really needed to rethink my idea of refusal. What would my father do to me? There was an abundance of things that could happen. I must be brave if I was going to survive this mini war. I touched my hoof to the wall; it was rough underneath my hoof. I sighed and turned around, my prints in the snow showing my way back, not that I didn't know already. It was time to go back anyway before I got frostbite without realising it. I hesitantly retraced my hoof steps, packing down the snow more, I was the only one who really went out his far in the winter. Out here I was isolated, from the mansion. Which was a very good thing? I was his last born daughter. Out of the three of us, and six boys, I was the very last born, and of his second wife, which she had no other children. Before I realised it, I was out of the wooded area, some of the gardeners were shoving snow out of the paths, from last night's blanket. They gave me slight knows to which I smiled in return. A very forced smile. They likely knew what was going on, currently, no one would dare speak or say hello. It simply wasn't the time to do such a thing. She walked up the stairs to the grand mahogany doors and used her magic to open it with ease. The door led to a hallway, with doors mirroring on each side. One, however, was open. It was the way to her father's study. He was expecting her. I trotted to the room and slowly walked in, the grandeur of the room was highly evident. There were paintings of family members, most past and some current. The further was mahogany same as all the doors, with red velvet cushioning, that was embroidered with a fine golden vine pattern. There was a grand tapestry hanging behind her father. It depicted a wood, with various mountain birds flying from branch to branch. Ther was a gentle stream, on the ground, with a deer drinking from it. Not that there were deer in their mountains. I briefly what a deer would think of this tapestry. Thinking good I suppose. The carpet was also very fancy, it was also red, and had vines dancing through it, they were also golden. The wind to her right, had a thick red curtain, made for winter, to keep the cold out. It was also embroidered, with cold floss. Her father was sitting in front of the tapestry, covering the rear of the deer. His hooves together contemplating something. He had an icy cold stare that would frighten the most strong willed. however, I was used to it. He wore a black tuxedo today, with a red tie. It was evident that red was his favourite colour. "Sit, Sunny," he said and she timidly pulled out one of the chairs and sat, directly in front of him. "SunBeam I know this upsets you, but you must marry Lord Durak," He said with no emotion in his voice. I was completely used to his coldness. No matter what if he waltzed into a room it began to feel like winter. IT was almost like his special talent, how it actually was, public speaking. When he's on stage, he can seem like the kindest person you'd ever meet. The blued boring into my soul. He wanted my answer fast. "I'm not marrying him," I responded, he used his hoof to wipe his curly pink and orange hair way from his face. We had the exact same hair. We had different coat colours, mine was a light orange colour, while he was a pure white. I was terrified I finally said it. He knew I was going to say it. He already probably had a punishment cooked up in his mind. I smiled at him, I was happy. Perfect chance to say something I would regret. "It's no like beating me will help, so you can't do anything to change my mind." At that moment I might as well have sealed my grave. He had the perfect plan to get me to his mindset and do what he wanted.
