Nova Glow is just like every other pony in the Lunar Empire. She follows the laws of the Moon. She listens to what the Moon has to say. She understands what the Moon Queen asks of her. Nothing much, just her loyalty and undying admiration. That is what the Queen Moon wanted, after all. To be loved and recognized. Especially by her own sister.
But that story has been banned for ages, longer than even Nova's grandparent's grandparents can remember. Tales of something known as the 'Sun' have been reduced to mere rumors, and those that question it–those that wonder whether Queen Moon has always been Queen–either die mysteriously, or vanish, never to return. So Nova believes what everypony else believes: their Queen has always been Queen, and always will be Queen.
However, an odd book in a forgotten library plus a hooded Unicorn with lavender eyes tells Nova bizarre things...things that go beyond what her small town life pressured her into thinking. The Queen wasn't always in power, and those old tales have more merit than many seem to believe. So what should Nova believe? Nova is put on the brink of the most important decision in not just her life, but the lives of the ponies in the shadowy land...either rest her loyalties with the Queen she's always known, or the forgotten memories of the past she's only beginning to uncover.
