The Truth Behind My Little Pony (Parallel Universe Theory)
As many of you all know, My Little Pony is an entertainment franchise developed by Hasbro which is marketed primarily to girls. Over the past 35 years, starting in the year 1981, this franchise has spread all over the globe, creating millions of fans, who call theirselves "Bronies" and "Pegasisters". Whether you were a five year old girl, or a 40 year old man, everyone loved My Little Pony for what it was, a fun, child-friendly show for all genders, ages, races, etc.
Atleast, that is what you think it is, right?
Everyone knows about the Parallel Universe theory, right? Well, if you don't know, I can explain it. Basically, when two parallel universes cross, weird things can happen. More notably, the appearance and disappearance of names, locations, people, objects, and media. Some of the more popular theories are the 'Berenstein and Berenstain' Theory, the 'Women and Wemon' Theory, the 'My Little Pony never existed' theory...
Wait, that last one can't be right, right? Well, it might actually be true. I use to watch the Hub (or, what is now, Discovery Family), and I know for a fact that on Fridays at 1:30 PM Eastern Time, which was 'supposedly' the original airing of the show, nothing like that ever came on. In fact, in 2010, the only thing airing was a re-run of Strawberry Shortcake. Then, when Season 2 first 'supposedly' aired, the only thing airing on Saturdays from 9:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. was Dan VS (a show I will miss for it's comedy and adult themes).
The first time I EVER heard of a show called "My Little Pony" was on December 17, 2011. It was 9:30 A.M. I was ready to watch another re-run of Dan VS. But, it didn't air that morning; Instead, it was something entirely different. Before I figured out what this was, I thought it was just a pony Christmas special. So, I watched it and I thought, "Hey, this isn't so bad".
A week passes, and it was December 24. I was, again, ready to watch some Dan VS. But, again, another pony thing aired. it was a different episode, this time. It was about wrapping up winter, or some crap. Two more episode aired after that.
The first one was about a dragon spewing smoke out of a mountain, and the six ponies from the other two episodes went to stop him. Near the end of the episode, the yellow and pink winged pony, who at first said that she was afraid of dragons, went up to the dragon and told him to leave. After much scolding, the dragon finally leaves the mountain to rest somewhere else. What I didn't get was that the purple pony (I found out that her name was Twilight Sparkle) had a pet baby dragon. So, why wasn't the yellow winged pony (I found out her name was Fluttershy) scared of the baby dragon (whose name was Spike
The second episode was really bizarre. The pink pony, whose name I found out was Pinkie Pie, wanted to throw more and more parties for her friends, but they were to busy. So, after stalking all of her friends, and kidnapping and interviewing Spike, she thinks that her friends hate her. So, she becomes completely insane. She throws parties for herself and her toothless alligator (Gummy) and invites inanimate objects to the parties. The blue winged pony (Rainbow Dash) flies Pinkie to the orange pony's (Applejack's) barn, where they were actually trying to throw Pinkie a surprise party. After many tries of convincing Pinkie that her friends don't hate her, she snaps back into reality and they all party together. I would expect the white unicorn (Rarity) to snap and lose her sanity, but not Pinkie Pie, not the one pony whose was almost always smiling and cracking jokes in all of the episodes. But, I digress.
So, all the episodes were pretty good. Despite looking like the animation was done in Flash, the art style was nice, the acting was good, the music was fitting in every scene, and, all in all, it was a great show. But, I still had one question.
"What was this show?"
So, I used my greatest ally and friend , the internet, to help me look for some answers. What I found was both amazing and shocking. The show was called "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic". It was the fourth generation of the My Little Pony franchise, which was going on for 30 years. The show's first episode aired on Friday, October 10, 2010 at 1:30 P.M. So far, there was only 37 episodes produced. The newest episode aired one week ago at 9:30 A.M. It was a Christmas episode titled "Hearth's Warming Eve". That explained the episode I watched a week ago.
I looked up the other episode names and description to see what episodes I watched that morning. The first one being "Winter Wrap Up", the second one being "Dragonshy", and the third, and final, one being "Party of One". That explains what I watched that morning. But, this has given me more questions.
I decided to watch all the episodes together. It was pretty fun. I had a few good laughs, and what not. After I finished watching the last episode, I was still very confused.
I knew this show NEVER aired before. It couldn't have. Because, like I said in the beginning, Strawberry Shortcake aired during 'what was suppose to be' the airing of Season One, and Dan VS aired during 'what was suppose to be' the airing of Season 2, until Hearth's Warming Eve can on. But, maybe I was wrong. Maybe, this show did air before.
So, I went from home to home asking people one simple question. "Have you ever heard of something called My Little Pony, or watched something called My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic?" Nine times out of Ten, I would get the same response.
"Nope. Never heard of it."
I got paranoid. Struggling to cope with the fact that this franchise was going on for about 30 years, and I never heard of it before, let alone it never airing on TV before. So, I thought, with the Berenstein and Berenstain theory, this could've been the same scenario, but on a much larger scale. So, I thought, what if no one knew about this because My Little Pony was never suppose to exist in our universe.
What if we crossed paths with another universe, and My Little Pony came into our world because of it?
So, I thought, "If this was true, then people should know about this." So, I went online to Skype and contacted a random friend of mine. The conversation went something like this...
"Hey man", I said, "Have you heard about this new show yet?"
"No", he said, "What is it?"
"Well", I explained, "It's called My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. You should watch it. Not a lot of people know about it."
"LOL", he exclaimed, "Why would I watch that? It sounds girly. Are you gay?"
"Trust me", I told him, "You might like it. I'll give you a link to some of the episodes online."
"Fine", he said, "Lay it on me."
I then looked around the internet for a link to the first two episodes. I eventually found them, and link the videos to my friend. He said that he'd check them out. He ended the call. An hour later, he called me back.
"Holy crap!", he exclaimed, "That was great. Please tell me there's more?"
"Oh, yeah", I explained, "There is a crap-ton more."
"I need to tell more people about this", he said.
"Go for it", I told him.
After a bit more talking, I ended the call.
A week passed. I turned on the news to see what was booming, lately. Surprisingly, it was that show. My plan must've worked. Everyone knows about My Little Pony now. Everything was normal. Well, almost normal. I might've told the wrong group. I got full grown men to like the show. But, that was okay. As long as people knew about it.
Epilogue
Today, I am now an official member of the brony fandom. I watch the show everytime a new episode airs, I buy the merchandise, I try to be a Youtuber and make remixes and mashups of songs. Life is great. Well, it was, until recently.
You see I forgot all about the whole 'MLP Cross Universe' Theory, and you might've thought that I forgot about it in the story. But, a few weeks ago, on this very website, I stumbled across a fanfic writer by the name of Opium4TmassS. This guy creates some good fanfics.
He makes comedic stories like, 'Lady Trixie and the Black Knight', 'Sir William and the Broken Alicorn', and 'PARANOIA:EQUESTRIA', and also makes dark and chilling stories, like 'Behind the Scenes', 'Liquid Euphoria', and 'Killer of Six'.
But one series he is making might prove my Parallel Universe theory. One that states that if we 'did' cross paths with another universe, it might've given the other universe a dark, creepy side effect. One where children are brainwashed into watching the show, while it kills the parents' sanity. That series is the "Why I Stopped Watching My Little Pony" series.
