Equestria, a beautiful land in its time. Celestia realized that the land had to be renewed and a cow with Mad Cow was purposefully infected with rabies. Rabies mutated with mad cow and while mad cow never changed: rabies did. Rabies changed in a way that was just perfect for triggering a large pandemic. It started in the low-population Everfree forest. The zebra population was infected after a few months, but the disease taking effect would take a week, a year, an hour or maybe even not at all. This is where it varies. the disease is spread through blood and contaminated food. When you eat food contaminated it depends on how long the virus was there. The virus lies dormant and may not activate for a long time after being eaten. Sometimes the virus dies on its own after a short amount of time. When the pony is infected from a bite, a knife covered in the blood of the infected or a scratch it will take an hour for the seizures to start, then a short few seconds of the infected not moving, and finally, they spring to life and attack. It can lie dormant, once again for much longer, when this happens, it's just a sudden jolt of insanity after a long time. This is because instead of quickly getting to everywhere in the brain, it is a small amount of the virus that grows VERY slowly when it gets to a certain part of the brain, it takes effect.

One day an infected raccoon came out of the Everfree. Ponyville was built very close the area and Fluttershy, being the friendly, careful pony she had noticed the cuts and missing fur and came to help. The raccoon was scratching at the door of her cottage after it heard noise coming from inside.

"Oh, my! Oh, are you-" before she could finish it leaped and bit her right on the finger. She yelped and jumped back, slamming the door fast enough to keep the Procyonidae out. immediately, the fever came up. Her throat hurt too much to speak or drink, making calling for help out of the question. She started vomiting uncontrollably after ten minutes and after five more her throat was severely damaged and the vomit had pieces of tissue from her esophagus and blood. She passed out after forty minutes and woke up after ten. This is when it began to control her brain. she was starving from the constant vomiting and could feel no pain. She never stopped, her body had no limit. She was dead, but at the same time alive. keep in mind: the raccoon did not react to the stare or the non-threatening nature of Fluttershy. It attacked and it would've if it didn't get flicked off. She wasn't capable of opening the door, she blindly wandered the area. Now, another thing to remember;  these aren't blind, shuffling corpses you see in movies. they'll run like the motherfuckin' wind if they're well fed and fit with no leg or arm injuries. They can even go faster than the average pony (which isn't very impressive considering obesity and the lack of exercise). Now Equestria doesn't have many guns, not as many as earth does, so the infected are going to be far more difficult to kill.

Everypony was having a party that Pinkie set up. Apple Jack supplied the booze (of course) and everypony else just had fun. Twilight began to wonder "Where's Fluttershy?" but Rarity was the one to say something.

"I do wonder where Fluttershy is. hasn't she said she would join our little get-together?"

"Yeah, Ah've been wonderin' the same damn thing!" said Apple Jack, clearly wasted.

"How about we check her cottage and- Apple Jack, how many shots have you had?" asked Twilight, turning to Apple Jack.

"Calm down Twilight... I'm still walkin'!" Said Apple Jack.

"C'mon! Let's go find Flutters!" Said Pinkie, exited. Pinkie was always fun and energetic. She was always just a nice, happy pony. it's kind of creepy actually. I mean it wouldn't surprise me if one day she was standing over somepony's bed with a knife... "just smile". Anyways they went up to the cottage and they heard pure silence. No moaning, scratching at the door, just pure silence. When they opened the door they saw multiple puddles of vomit and blood. there were small droplets leading upstairs toward her animals.

"Oh my Celestia..." said Twilight.

"Damn, girls this damn place smells like puke," said Apple Jack.

"Yeah, no shit, Apple Jack, so what the hell's going on? is this some kind of prank? I thought Fluttershy wasn't into that," said Rainbow dash, confused.

"No, that can't be it, Fluttershy doesn't do pranks and this is just too real," said Twilight.

"Rarity, you have an eye for detail, go check it out," said Rainbow.

"But, but it's filthy! And my shoes will be covered in that... disgusting-"

"Rarity, ain't nopony's gonna care bout' that, now get in there," said Apple Jack, pushing her in. She was tip-toeing to try not to get any on her "fabulous" shoes. It led to a small room and she had her back to Rarity, with a squirrel in her hands. "D-Darling...? Are you feeling well?" asked Rarity. She threw the squirrel to the floor and screamed. Turning and jumping on Rarity. This time the bite was larger and closer to her brain. The infected have a strange fifth sense to replace the sense of touch that makes them capable of sensing who is infected. They only kill they  ponies they infect if they're starving to death. Rarity was infected even quicker and only needed 1 1/2 minutes to become infected. The rest heard the screams and ran up the stairs, half of them not caring about the puddles. both Fluttershy and Rarity jumped onto Twilight, this time the injuries she had killed her. It was a broken arm, her arm and lower body was separated from her torso and her skull was crushed.

"FUCK, RUN!!!" yelled Rainbow.

"We can't just leave her!" yelled Pinkie.

"IF WE TRY AND SAVE HER, WE'LL ALL DIE!!! NOW LETS FUCKING GO!!!" The rest of the survivors jumped through the window and ran. The door, though, was left wide open and even if it wasn't, it's only a matter of time before the population of the Everfree breaks into Ponyville and after that. There is no hope.
