The Poems of Equestria
A Sunny Day
Load Full Story‘Twas a bright and sunny day,
All the ponies went out to play,
But, there was Spike the Dragon,
Suffering from a case of melancholy,
For he had performed many a folly,
Watching the ponies enjoy their wagons and flagons.
Oh, why, thought the drake, why,
Why must it always be I?
For there is nothing I can do right,
I simply wanted to be Twilight’s number one assistant,
Yet we have become increasingly distant,
And it fills me with such fright.
Indeed, for many a year had the young dragon toiled,
Watching as many a villain had their dastardly plots foiled,
All at the hooves of the great Princess Twilight,
And everybody watched and adored,
Basking in her praise as she soared,
Leaving the noble Spike far from the limelight.
Everypony was relaxed and content,
To let the dragon have a slow descent,
Into the realm of darkness, feeling ever unappreciated,
The ponies watching as he was abused,
Feeling, all the while, amused,
While the drake wished that it was not fated.
The feelings of loneliness were crippling,
Sorrow and depression were rippling,
And Spike could only sit and watch,
But then came Pinkie Pie,
A pony who never did lie,
And told Spike he was topnotch.
Now, she said, don’t you frown,
Your sorrows will make you drown,
You just have to smile,
I’ll throw you a party,
You’ll be filled with joy true and hearty,
And I’ll be with you all the while!
Then Spike’s spirits did rise,
As he heard the mare and looked into her eyes,
And that’s when he felt,
He couldn’t deny,
No matter how hard he might try,
That his sorrow did melt.
Once, Spike was sad,
But Pinkie Pie made him glad,
Happy to have his life,
Where, in spite of his woes,
He knew he could overcome all his foes,
And he would live without strife.
