“Citizens of Equestria, I am so dearly sorry to warn you all of a recent danger that has become amongst us. It is not a monster, it is not one of threats have plagued our home before, it is another pony. She is wanted for the murders of 10 Equestrian residents as well as 14 Royal Guards. We haven't identified an actual suspect, but witness and survivor reports have noted her descriptions. They are a Bat Pony with light grey fur, a black mane that starts to lighten at the tips. We are currently unaware of their eye color. If you find a mare that matches these descriptions, please contact the royal guard, or any pony of authority. Thank you.”
I watched from an alley. Celestia’s message to Equestria has been playing in the center of nearly every town and city for the past few weeks. All because of my actions. The broadcasts have changed at least 3 times to continue to grab the attention of ponies. The first one distinctively told about the first three murders I've committed, and more or less told everypony to be careful. About a week later it changed to warn that it was a pony who committed them. A few days passed and they then started calling me a heartless killer with no remorse. Then after my encounter with the Royal Guard, it has changed to the current one.
I never realized how corrupt and how much of liars the Princesses are. After all they talk about friendship, and peace and harmony, the way they approached my new found “popularity” was the damn near opposite.
I never meant to hurt anypony. I never meant to turn out the way I did. I hate it when I hear ponies talk about me saying “She's nothing more than a monster”. Or “How messed up do you have to do this?” They know nothing..
When I was three years old my mom, dad, and me moved from Ponyville to Canterlot since my mother had gotten a job as one of Princess Luna’s personal Royal Guards there. Things were more or less normal for a few weeks after the move. We got comfortable, my father stayed at home to take care of me, and we were actually happy. That all changed soon however. There had been reports of a few killings going on in the city during the nighttime, and most of Luna’s guards were dispatched to find the pony responsible. One of those guards was my mother.
A few days passed and they didn't find anypony that was responsible, and they were going to call off the search until my mother found him. According to reports she saw the killer standing over another pony, knife in hand, and the victim having multiple stab marks in their body. The killer caught sight of my mother and ran. My mother took flight and proceeded to chase him. My mom was 3 meters away from him when the killer turned around, cocked his leg, and threw the knife. It landed perfectly in my mothers throat, and he ran away. The reports showed that she was alive for close to 10 minutes while she slowly choked to death on her own blood.
My mother's death affected my father so much. He fell into depression. Up to the point where he almost lost possession of me. It was almost 2 years before my father eventually slipped out of depression. At that point I was starting kindergarten.
Even in Kindergarten I wasn't exactly liked. I was constantly bullied and was put down. From an early age I developed depression, and hated school. In Kindergarten I was called a loser, First Grade was called stupid, Second I was called a baby, and so on and so on. I was never given a break. Every day i had to endure 8 hours of torment, of pain, and hell. I never found out why. I never found out why the hell I was so hated. Why the hell I was forced to be a voodoo doll for their torment.
The only escape I had was my father. He knew of my situation at school, and he tried damn near everything to stop it. But anything he did was for nothing. Because each day after, it was the same. Each and every day he tried to make up for my school life. He took me out to places, he played with me, he even took the extra step to come to school with me, and to stay there for an hour or two, trying to prolong the hell that I would have to suffer for just a little bit longer. He tried looking for other schools that I could attend, but as big as Canterlot was, there was only one school. So I was forced to stay and take the torment. In the start of 4th grade things kind of settled down. I had actually made a friend for once. People didn't look at me like I was something that had crawled out of the trash, I was looked at like an actual PONY. Or I thought i was. A month into it things changed in almost literally a blink of an eye. I walked into school, and was heading to the class when a group of 3 ponies jumped me. I was horrifically beat in front of all my classmates, peers, and more or less the whole school. A punch to the stomach there, the throat, my head, everywhere. All the while I was conscious. And all the while they laughed. The ponies hurting me, and those watching.
They beat me so bad that i was almost sent to the hospital. I eventually passed out and woke up in the school nurse's office. My dad picked me up, and we went home…
After that day the beatings became more often. And as I grew older, more severe. They only began to grow less frequent when I got into middle school. When they actually started caring about my situation. In school, and at home I was constantly told to not fight back. I was always told that if I started fighting back that I would be no better than they were. But now that I think of it, things would've been a lot different if I had. If I had just knocked one of them out, or at least tried to. And for that, I hate myself.
Time passed and I was a sophomore in High School, 16 years old. At this time the beatings have stopped completely, however the torment still lies. Each day in cursed at, called different names. Some going as far as to call me “Suicidal No Life Pink Bitch” and some names even worse than that.
In Canterlot there were many big things going on. There was a shield that was activated around the city, Princess MiaMora Cadenza and the captain of the Royal Guard, Shining Armor were having their wedding, and my life reached an all time low….
That day, even from the morning, things seemed off. It wasn't paranoia, but just a lingering feeling in my chest that I couldn't get rid of. School was off for the day and since we couldn't go and occupy the wedding, my father took me to go get ice cream as a treat for how well I was doing in school, academic wise that is. We were there for an hour or so, and it was nearing noon when we got up to leave. I was the first to hear it, That low and ominous buzzing sound. My father and I just simply shook it off however. When we exited the shop, that’s when we noticed what was emitting it.
There were hundreds of them. Those creatures. Crashing into the barrier, that had appeared just a few days ago, attempting to break it. We stood there, awestruck, all the while the barrier was cracking. We didn't know what to do, whether to run, go back inside the shop, or anything else. It wasn't until the barrier cracked and the hundreds of monsters flooded the streets that we did something. My dad immediately took me by the hoof and damn near bolted. We ran through the streets of Canterlot. All the while the monsters, that I would soon know as Changelings, continuously rained down on the city. There were hundreds of ponies running, screaming, flying, and fighting, just to get away from those beasts.
Not five minutes into the attack was when the explosions started raining down. My father and I were about to enter one of the many restaurants, to try and get some cover, when before we even knew it, a bolt flew from who knows where, and crashed into the restaurant, engulfing it into green flames. Then all around us we heard the bangs, and booms of what seemed like hundreds of blasts raining down on Canterlot. It seemed like almost anywhere we went to take shelter, it was then destroyed by one of the bolts.
We decided our best bet was to try to get into our house, and then into our basement. We ran through the path to our home, dodging the various explosions that just barely missed us. We were 20 meters from our door when it happened, a bolt flew and landed just a few feet from us. We both went flying.
I landed with a hard “oomph”. My vision was blurry, I couldn't see any further than a few inches from my face. I could however make out the large black figure that landed in front of me. The creature chirped and trilled, and as it walked towards me, my vision came back, i realized that it was one of the monsters attacking. I backed up, trying to get away from the monster, I was only a meter or two away from it when it started to charge up its horn. Fear and adrenaline shot through my body but fear took over and I couldn't move, it continued to charge up and before I knew it, it fired.
Even though the bolt fired at near breakneck speed, to me it was in slow motion. The bolt fired out with a bright green flash, leaving a trail behind it. The air whistled as the fast approaching bolt came, preparing to take my life. There was no way I could dodge the bolt, it was too fast. But my father was faster..
Time sped up as I saw him jump in front of the bolt. With a large green flash, we were both blown back as the bolt made contact, creating a large aftershock into the air.
I regained consciousness a few moments after we landed. I looked around and the monster was gone. There was a small crater in the ground, I immediately looked around for my father. I didn't know where he was, he had took the blast head on, I didn't know where he landed. I spun around in circles, trying to find him, when my eyes laid rest on a large, smoking lump on the ground nearly ten feet away. . Realization hit me as I stared harder. My eyes widened, and my heart dropped when i realized what had happened. I went as fast as my legs could carry me without falling over, and the closer I got, the more I could see. My father, was still alive, a large hole in his chest was clearly visible. I got to him, and gently hugged him. I tried to speak, but all I could get out were sobs. He grabbed my hoof, and with the last of his strength, muttered six last words.
“I'm sorry honey..I love you”
The words echoed in my ears as I watched the life slip from my father's eyes. His hoof slipped from mine as the last of it left.
I sat there, heart broken, the explosions still ringing in my ears, mixed in with my father's last words, were enough to break me. Memories flashed through my mind, I couldn't believe he was gone, I couldn't believe that he threw his life away for me. Why had it tried to kill me, why was this even happening? What drove these creatures to attack Canterlot, and why had they been successful? Those thoughts ran through my head and minutes later an aura rang out from the castle, it drove the creatures away. Within minutes the Royal guard swept the city, and pulled me away from my father's body.
I kicked and screamed as I was pulled away from my protector, why were they doing this, why did they have to take me away from the one pony that I cared about? They brought me to the barracks, as where most of the other ponies of Canterlot were, many of whom that were injured being mended and cared for.
An hour or two after we were brought in, they released us. They had finished taking care of the bodies..
That night the official death count was released. There were close to twenty deaths, almost half of them were children, and the princesses never acknowledged it, no one but those who lost a somepony did. That night there were fireworks, there were parties, and almost everypony was happy..
