TWILIGHT'S DIARY

Entry #1: Mommy, Smarty Pants and I all went to the store today and I got this writing book diary! At first I thought it was an actual book to read, though. Anyway, Mommy and Daddy say I should write down my adventures in here. So, yeah! I hope Smarty Pants and I have some fun adventures, together!

Entry #2: I read all day today. Smarty Pants found a book all about the Elements of Harmony, or something, it was really cool! There was a princess, and another princess, and it was cool!

Entry #3: I went to the park today with Mommy and BBBFF! Mommy wouldn't let me bring Smarty Pants, because I forgot her last time. Anyway, I played on the swings, slide, and that weird little magic things for little unicorns like me! While we were there Mommy and I met a nice Unicorn? Pegasus? ALICORN, named, uhhh, I don't remember. Caddy or something? But she had wings and a horn! That meant she was a princess right? She was so pretty! Mommy liked talking to her too. But BBBFF couldn't talk for some reason. I think he likes Caddy.

Entry #4: I got to go to the library today! It was fun! Smarty Pants and I read lots of books! Well, we had to read there, because I couldn't get all the books I wanted. I didn't realize that I had been reading to night time until the librarian told me she was closing for tonight. That made me sad. When I got back home, Mommy was mad. RAWR! But Daddy calmed her down. Oh! And before I left the library the librarian told me about a book club for foals my age! And it's only two days away!

Entry #5: I was eating lunch outside today re-reading Star Swirl's Magic history, (He's the best unicorn wizard EVER! I WANNA BE JUST LIKE HIM!) and I saw Caddy again! Turns out her name's Cadence though. We talked for a bit, until Mommy told me to come back inside. (I'm home schooled by the way.) But Cadence and I talked about a meetup, and it sounded like fun!

Entry #6: I went to the book club with Smarty Pants. There is only one word to describe it. BORIING! All the foals were reading little books like, "How the Dragon Crossed the Road" and, "Levitastic!" While I had my much more serious Star Swirl book. There was one filly however, who wasn't reading books like the others. She brought some good books too. Her name was MoonDancer. We talked the entire club about our favorite books, and she likes all of the ones I did! We said bye, and I can't wait until next week! We're gonna be good friends, I can tell.

Entry #7: Cadence and I were talking today and she asked about my brother. Simple questions like, "How is he?" Or, "Is he home schooled too?" (No, by the way, he's in a very special school for ponies who wish to join the guard.) and, "Is he dating any pony?" Okay, maybe that last one wasn't so simple, but he isn't sooo....yeah. She begged me not to tell him about that last question. I didn't see the big deal, so I said sure. (Though between you and me, I think Cadence likes my brother too. Her face gets red every time we talk about him.) Before we left, I told Cadence I wish we had a special hoof shake or something since we were becoming good friends. She winked at me and said, "Don't you worry about it." Wonder why she said that.

Entry #8: Mommy was sick today, so Daddy had to stay home. I didn't get to have school, but Mommy is more important. I tried to make her some soup with Smarty Pants, but neither of us knew how and the kitchen seemed in the mood for making itself the soup. Daddy just laughed, saying he's clean it, and just for me to go talk to Mommy. Shining was at school all day, but when he got back, he ran right to Mommy.

Entry #9: Mommy's better!

Entry #10: Shining and I went to the park today. He was telling me his school was getting harder. He said although it was getting more difficult, that meant it was good. He always likes to say, "The harder the work, the greater the reward." I always laugh at this. He also said something that made me sad. He might be leaving soon for an important test! No pony told me anything! Does Mommy and Daddy know? Does Cadence know? Does Smarty Pants know?!

Entry #11: Cadence and I met up at the park today. She ran up to me doing random things and singing a little song. "Sunshine, sunshine, ladybugs awake! Clap your hooves and do a little shake!" It was our new secret hoof shake-thing! We laughed and talked until I told her about Shining Armor. She looked really sad. Almost as sad as me. She coughed asking stuff like, "When? And is he coming back?" I told her I didn't know when he was leaving, but he was coming back. She stood up, said goodbye, and flew away.

Entry #12: OH MY GOSH! MOMMY AND DADDY SIGNED ME UP FOR CELESTIA'S SCHOOL FOR GIFTED UNICORNS! THAT'S A VERY SPECIAL SCHOOL! I'M SOOOOO EXCITED! So excited that when I went to the book club, I told every pony about it! And guess what? So is Moondancer! But I've got to pass a test!!! I love reading and all, but magic's a little hard for me. I need to study, study, study!

Entry #13: I told Cadence about me and Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns and she was thrilled! She told me she has a personal connection with the princess as her adopted niece! (The alicorn thing makes sense now. I can't believe I never asked about it before.) And that if I get in, we'd get to see each other a lot more! She said in her spare time she likes to foal sit. That's so cool!

Entry #14: The time that Shiny has until he leaves is running out. Though Mommy and Daddy will miss him, Shiny also foal sits me. So when Mommy and Daddy were talking about getting an actual foal sitter, I remembered that Cadence is one! Shiny got all red, but Mommy and Daddy were just confused.

Entry #15: I asked Cadence about foal sitting me, and she immediately said yes! Maybe because she's an alicorn she'll teach me some new stuff. (Also while we were out, Cadence used a love spell to stop an argument! It was amazing!)

Entry #16: Mommy and Daddy went out tonight, and Cadence came over! I'm angry though. Cadence was watching me, but she spent almost the entire time talking to Shiny! And not me!

Entry #17: My entrance exam to Celestia's School For Gifted Unicorns is tomorrow. I studied all night and did, um, somemagic. I hope I'm good enough.

Entry #18: I can't believe I passed! It was amazing! I tried to hatch a dragon egg, but I couldn't, and then there was a big boom, and the dragon was huge! And I turned my parents into plants, and I was levitating the judges, and Princess Celestia walked in and asked me to be her student! AND I GOT MY CUTIE MARK! We're having a party to celebrate!

Entry #19: Shiny left today. I was so caught up in the excitement about my cutie mark, and becoming Celestia's student, that I totally forgot. Every pony was crying. Cadence was there too. I hugged him and gave Smarty Pants to him. I asked her to look after Shiny. I'm gonna miss my BBBFF.

Entry #20: MoonDancer's test was today. And she passed! She also got her cutie mark, same as me!

Entry #21: It's my first day of actual school tomorrow. Oh. I'm scared. I've never been to an actual school before. But, MoonDancer will be there, so I'm sure I'll be fine.

Entry #22: Oh, school was terrible! I messed everything up! Even with MoonDancer by my side, I just, UGH! It all went so bad! I hope that doesn't affect how ponies see me at the school. I did meet a couple fillies though, well, MoonDancer did anyhow. Minuette, Twinkle Shine, Lemon Hearts, and Lyra. Minuette was really funny, Twinkle Shine was very. nice? Lemon Hearts, was, umm, very clumsy. (She managed to get her head in a beaker! How do you do that?!) And Lyra, well, Lyra was strange. She believed in some weird thing called a human. She wouldn't stop talking about them. So, they were cool, I guess.

Entry #23: School went better than yesterday. I actually knew where to go and stuff. And I had five friends to help me!

Entry #24: You know that dragon I hatched during the test? Yeah, well, the Princess said I could keep him. Saying, it would be a 'learning experience' or something. But he's so cute! Daddy says he's going to be a big responsibility, but that's okay/ I think I'll name him Spike. Besides, what could a cute little dragon like him ever do that's bad?

Entry #25: Spike ate my homework.

Entry #26: The Princess got my homework that Spike ate, somehow. Weird.

Entry #27: I'm sorry I haven't written for a couple weeks, but Shiny's back, and he said Smarty Pants was good, and that she took care of him. Good Smarty Pants! Cadence showered him with kisses as soon as he got back.

Entry #28: Happy Nightmare night! Daddy was Star Swirl for Nightmare Night! (No pony understood his costume, but I did!)I was Princess Celestia this year, because I wanna be a princess just like her when I grow up!

Entry #29: My tummy hurts. Mommy says I ate too much chocolate.

Entry #30: I couldn't go to school today. I ate to much candy, and now I'm sick.

Entry #31: We had a science test today, and I got a straight A+!

Entry #32: Sorry for not writing much, but today's my birthday! I'm officially nine! I got a lot of books! I'm glad I still have Smarty Pants to read them with me!

Entry #33: I'm sorry if I don't write much anymore. I'll try to when I can. But I've been practicing so much magic with the Princess, I haven't really had the time to write!

Entry #34: Hearth's Warming Eve was nice, I made lots of snow ponies,some in other ponies' backyards!ate lots of cookies, (Shiny and I managed to eat the entire gingerbread house!) and get lots of presents! Every pony was so icky the entire time. Mommy and Daddy were calling each other names like, ' shnoopy doo' or 'cuddle bear' and guess what? SO were Shiny and Cadence! She lifted a mistletoe right above the, Everyone in my family is such a sap. I love Hearth's Warming Eve, but I love my family more. I'm glad to spend the holidays with them.

Entry #35: I also gave Princess Celestia a toy for Hearth's Warming Eve! It was a little moon plush! (They were all out of suns for some reason) She started to get sad about it though, I wonder why.

Entry #36: Happy New Year, every pony! I'm gonna be the best filly I can be!

Entry #37: I learned how to levitate! It's not the first time I've done it, but I've struggled, now I can carry Smarty Pants wherever I want, just with my magic!

Entry #38: Hearts and Hooves Day is a mystery to me. I'm only nine, and two colts walked up to me, gave me chocolate and cards, then ran away. I don't get colts. Mommy and Daddy were doing that weird thing they did at Hearth's Warming Eve. And guess what, Shining Armor finally asked Cadence to be his special some pony! And she said yes! About time. I'm happy for them! More happy that I get to eat chocolate too!

Entry #39: Princess Celestia taught me how to teleport! It's hard, and frustrating. And I have to think a lot. I don't like doing that.

Entry #40: I went to the Grand Galloping Gala this year, for the first time. Everything was so pretty, but so boring. What I wouldn't give for a random mare to jump on the stage and start singing or something. These ponies need to dance! But Princess Celestia was there, and we talked all about spells and stuff!

Entry #41: I have such a nice Family, and I love them. I hope that never changes.

Entry #42: UGH! I hate them! Mom and Dad never let me do anything! Seriously all I wanted to do is go skating with some colts! And Rad Brad isn't a bad influence! Stupid Shining Armor. I'll sneak out. I promised I'd be there! No dumb family is gonna stop me!

Entry #43: You know what? I had fun! I liked it! And nothing bad happened to me! SO HA!

Entry #44: Princess Celestia is saying she's concerned about my behavior. SO? I'm just living a little, it won't kill me jeez! And I'm fourteen! In two more years I'll be able to have my own cart, like Rad Brad! I'm sick of my family saying I'm too young and that I could get hurt or something. Yeah, right.

Entry #45: You know, MoonDancer is a rebel too, and we're not as bad as every pony says. I still go the the book club! (Dear Celestia, if any pony found that out, I'd be dead.) I still read and practice magic! I'm just having a bit of fun before I'm to old to! Jeez!

Entry #46: Ugh. Prom is coming up at C.S.F.G.U and I totally don't wanna go, but Mom and Dad are making me. Saying it'll be good for me or something. And guess what else?! Dad said if no colts ask me to Prom, he'll go with me! I can't tell if he was serious or joking, but please let a stallion ask me out! For the sake of my reputation!

Entry #47: MoonDancer is going to Prom as well. But she's got a date. And with Dusk Blaze nonetheless. (Dusk Blaze is, other than Rad Brad of course, one of the most popular colts in school.)

Entry #48: OMG! Rad Brad asked me to Prom! Do you know how big of a deal that is?! Fillies always fawn over him, but he chose me! ME! OMG!!!

Entry #49: Cadence asked why I was so excited today. I told her that I hate a date to the Prom, and naturally, she asked who. I didn't say, because knowing her and my family, if they knew it was Rad Brad, they'd forbid be from going to prom.

Entry #50: Today was so boring. I already know everything in my classes, so I was just sitting there. MoonDancer was writing stuff down, but I didn't. Unlike her, I have a great memory.

Entry #51: Ugh. This morning I woke up to a yelling Shining Armor. He kept asking who I was going to Prom with. Snitcher Cadence. Now do you understand why I didn't say who? My family was all on my case about it, so imagine how they'd be if they actually knew.

Entry #52: How did this happen?! How did I fail a test! It's impossible! I've never failed a test! I never fail in general! Ugh, this isn't happening. I'll just, throw it away.

Entry #53: Now Mom is yelling at Dad. She found my test in the trash and started screaming at me. Dad stopped her. Jeez. At least I'm not grounded from Prom.

Entry #54: MoonDancer won't stop bragging about that stupid test and how she succeeded and I failed. Lyra was just going over the top with it though. MoonDancer got an A+ (Of course, Celestia, of course) and Lyra got a B+. She kept saying stuff like, "See, Twilight? Studying can actually get you somewhere, instead of just being a lazy horse." And, "Yeah, well, I passed because I actually, you know, tried. Instead of sitting on my fat flank all day." That snobby, little donkey!

Entry #55: I couldn't take anymore of Lyra's freaking comments. So I challenged her to a magic duel saying, "You know what Lyra? If you're so smart, prove it. Put your money where your mouth is. I challenge you, Lyra Heartstrings, Human Psycho Obsessor, to a magic duel! You'll accept unless you're to cowardly and stupid to prove your own point. And trust me, I know enough spells to literally make you, eat your words." She obviously accepted.

Entry #56: I won. It was clear from the beginning that I would've won. But I got suspended and a stupid talk from the Princess.

Entry #57: Still not grounded from Prom. My life is just so lucky sometimes, and then down in a lake others.

Entry #58: Prom is tomorrow night, and I got my own dress. And it looks good.

Entry #59: Alright, Diary, it's off to Prom I go! Oh, I can hear Rad Brad's cart! Oh Celestia, I'm a nervous wreck! Wish me luck!

Entry #60: That. Was, one of the worst night of my life. Brad, I won the Fall Formal, I was the princess, some stupid colt named Flash Sentry was king, but... I stood up on the stage, so proud, I didn't see Brad or any of his friends, but next thing I knew, I was covered in honey. It, was terrible! I washed my coat off but I couldn't bring myself to go back to the party. Celestia talked to me. Apparently, they had pranked her too, and they were getting expelled the next day. She cast a spell that cleaned me up, and, all my friends were standing behind her. Hah, they gave me a huge makeover, and fixed my dress and everything. Even Lyra was there. I could tell even though she was helping out, she was mad at me, I apologized, and we were good! She had placed the crown back on my head, and once they were all done, MoonDancer said, "You look like a real princess!" I had smiled a smile so wide, I don't remember being so happy. MoonDancer laughed and then told me, "Keep that smile up, and you might actually become one!" We headed back into the party with my head high. Rad Brad and some fillies were still there. I was hesitant about going anywhere near them, but I saw the princess wink at me.So I went over there, and cast a paint spell over their heads. It was hilarious! It had been the bully rainbow! When the party was over, my friends and I each walked each other home. I'm not sad anymore about it, I'm more glad that I have good friends. But I think I should get back into studying. Reading. I really loved that. You know, that princess joke was funny, but, I think I should be a librarian, or better yet a teacher. Well, it's really late, and I should be going to bed right now.

Entry #61: It's the night after Prom. And, because it's just winter break, my friends and I get the whole day off! We went and had some fun outside, but, at the end of the day, we all cuddled up near a fire with hot chocolate, reading our favorite books. MoonDancer and I of course read them all, while the rest kinda just, fell asleep. Eventually so did MoonDancer. I'd think that one day a book might hold my destiny or something. But either way, I wish you a happy Hearths Warming Eve, even though it isn't it yet. I hope this new year will help me see my full potential, and that everything is going to be just fine.

Twilight sighed as she closed the book with a smile. How naive she had been, and how she hadn't known most the things she had said, would come true.

"Twilight! The hot chocolate is ready!" Spike called.

"Wait Spike, no don't-" Starlight Glimmer began, but it was too late. Twilight flinched at the sound of glass breaking. "Run with the glass." Starlight groaned.

"Never mind." Spike added with a guilty tone. Twilight chuckled and picked up a quill and ink and began to write. Once she was finished, she closed the journal and joined her family in the kitchen to help clean up and make some more hot chocolate.

Entry #62: Oh, how I've come so far from when I was younger. How many wishes have come true, and even though not everything has gone as planned,

There's still that spark of friendship.
