Of Suns and Rainbows
Alone in this world

Celestia slowly awoke from her slumber. It was another day at Canterlot, and her duties began early, with the sunrise to be exact. She lazily got up from her bed, stretched and went to the bathroom to get herself ready for the day. She would normally take a long, relaxing bubble bath every morning and let her mind run freely, but not today. She just didn't feel like it. She washed her face and groomed her mane that wasn't the usual rainbow colored one flowing in what seemed like ethereal wind, it was just her normal pink colored mane, Celestia not caring enough to enchant it to its other form.
Another day has arrived, just like the last one, and the one before that...
She walked to the door leading to her room's balcony, and stepped outside. It was still dark, the sun just peeking over the horizon, waiting for her to guide it across the sky. She called her magic, a familiar warmth spreading over her, and slowly but steadily rose the sun. She felt no thrill in it since she had done this millions of times before, and she would probably do it millions of times more. She sighed as she finished her work, the warmth abandoning her, now replaced by the feeling that was constantly assaulting her lately. She felt so...
Lonely.
Come on Celestia you have a country to rule, you can't let your feelings interfere with the nation's well being. Just push it aside for now, you'll take care of it some other time.
Truth is, she couldn't get it off her mind. She had a hole in her heart that couldn't be filled by her friends nor her sister, but by that special somepony. Celestia had had many lovers throughout the years, but everything comes to an end, and so did they. She being an immortal goddess and them just normal ponies meant she got to see every one of them die of age. Finally she had decided not to get into any romantic relationship, the pain caused by the deaths of her loved ones too great for her to bear.
"Tia are you feeling alright? You don't look se well." The night princess landed on the balcony next to Celestia and nuzzled her side. This earned a small smile from her. "What's got your mind this time? Don't tell me something bad happened to Twilight and her friends."
Should I tell her?
No, that will just make her worry about me. She has enough to take care of for her to help me in something so trivial like this.
"No Luna, Twilight and her friends are fine. I'm just feeling a bit under the weather, that's all. Perhaps having breakfast will brighten my mood. Would you care to join me?" Luna didn't look completely convinced, but didn't push the matter. Besides, she was her big sister and she knew she could take care of anything. She nodded, and both goddesses left for the dining room.

A/N: My first attempt at a fanfic. Sorry for this chapter being so short, but the next stuff I'm planning to add doesn't add well with this one, so I decided to make it a different chapter. Any constructive criticism will be welcomed.
