Chapters All Star Stories presents: The heroes of Equestria (The Flash)
The day was moving slow. Flash stood upon his post awaiting any event to call to his attention besides the storm cloud that hung over the large castle. The sound of low thunder and dull flashes of lightning moved among the heavens. Nothing unusual within the crystal empire. They had been scheduled to receive rain today. The one thing that caught his eye was something he had not witnessed in years. A white rushing blur with golden lightning began to rush about the castle stirring up the clouds above and creating an atmosphere of yellow lightning. Flash removed his helmet and armor in order to fly without plummeting to his death. Although he was a guard, he was not as strong as the others. What he lacked in strength he made up for in intellect.
He reached the cold crystal floor within the center of the electric tornado. Flash watched the golden electricity move about him as the white blur was joined by a red blur. The ominous feeling in his chest grew as he slowly approached the wall of speed that forced a wall of wind as he drew near. With one more step it disappeared and the blurs sped off and disappeared. In awe the orange stallion looked to his surroundings to see if he could spot any of the blurs. Low thunder could be heard throughout the clouds as the golden lightning within the dark matter began to lurch among the water vapors above. A blinding flash light the area followed by a surge of energy that shot through the stallion's body. Flash fell to the ground as the ringing in his ears became prominent, muffling all other noise. A lavender alicorn came into view with no sound to her voice. Her lips only reading "Are you alright?" She seemed panicked.
Flash attempted to speak, but nothing happened. Flash attempted to rise, but nothing happened. Flash attempted to move his hooves, but nothing happened. Flash attempted to turn his head, but nothing happened. He blacked out to the feeling of the mare attempting to lift him.
Bits and pieces of memories from the stallions past rushed throughout his mind before fading away to reveal a silhouette of a pony before him that presented but one question. "Do you want to be faster?" Flash stood speechless. What he was seeing was absolutely bewildering. The figure twitched and blurred with an occasional surge of electricity. "Do you want to be faster?" the silhouette repeated. The stallion looked back at all the times he was too slow to do anything. Too useless because he was unable to be there. Flash nodded directly to the figure. "Very well." It said as it disappeared and the stallion awoke from his unconscious state.

Flash Sentry opened his eyes to a hospital room. The beige wall before him gave some feeling of relief as to weather he was alive or not. He rubbed his temples in an attempt to relive a headache that felt as though somepony had struck him across the skull with the hilt of a sword. The stallion's heart jumped at the sound of a mare's voice.
"You're awake." She said. Flash turned to his left. Before him was a violet mare that looked to him in relief. "How do you feel?" She added to her stream of words.
"I'm quite fine." Flash said with a smile. He was not sure of who this was, but she was most likely to be a princess. She was an alicorn with a golden crown upon her head. She was definitely royalty. Flash looked down to his chest to see bandages. The only peculiar thing was that he was not sore.
"Is something wrong?" The princess asked.
"Oh no. Nothing at all." He Replied with a reassuring smile that calmed the mare. After a few minuets of chatter from the princess about his condition a question arose in the stallion's mind. "How long was I under?"
The princess looked up. "Um-" She lifted up a clip board from the desk near by with her lavender illuminating aura. "-seven months." She said hesitantly. Flash said nothing. The surprise of him being in a coma for seven months took him in a very unexpected way. It felt like hours. The silence continued for a few more seconds before anything was said.
"Very well." Flash spoke, braking the barrier of soundless peace. "Back to work I guess." The stallion said lifting himself from the bed without a problem before pulling out a few IVs from his foreleg.
"you must stay until the doctor says it's alright." The violet mare inquired.
"But I'm fine." Flash replied.
"But-" The mare said attempting to hold the stallion once more.
"I'm a crime scene analyst and a medical examiner. I understand how injuries work. If I've been in a coma for seven months, then I believe that the injuries should have healed by now. I do not mean to be rude, but I'm not going to hear the end of it from the captain if I can't get my work done. And I've been backed up several months." Flash bowed and turned toward the door. He was right. If there was one thing Captain Shinning Armour liked, it was efficiency. As he lifted his hoof to grab the knob a pale blue crystal mare with a grey mane.
"Ah, your awake." She said. "I was coming to get you. The captain wanted to know if you were ready to work." The doctor added. Flash nodded in confirmation. The doctor and flash were followed out by Twilight who kept a close and observant eye on the orange stallion. After handing Flash a few papers to sign the pony was released from the hospital. As he walked back to the palace Twilight continued to trail him. He was not sure why, but it began to make him nervous. Had he done something that put him under extra security? He reached the castle where Captain Shinning Armour stood talking with some of the other guards.
"Flash. About time." Shining Armour said addressing the orange stallion. "There's some work I need you to catch up on. It's on your desk upstairs." Flash nodded. "Twili. What'r you doing here?" The Captain inquired. Twilight approached her brother as I left for my office.
It was not a big office. It had a desk that was placed in the back corner of the room with a stack of cases. On the back wall was a large circular window that held a view of the city. Upon the left wall was a few filing cabinets that had a precariously perched empty mug on the edge. other than that nothing else was in the room. I sat in the chair as I began to look through the files on my desk. The first was a case of thievery in Canterlot. A hoof print had been left over along with some fractured glass and fibers. According to the evidence the case had been solved. Flash just had to process the paperwork. They always had him process paperwork. Even if they were not his cases. Just as he placed a quill to the page the noise of something sliding began to ring in his ear. The mug. It had begun to fall. His Sharingan began to activate, but that would not be enough. Unexpectedly he had suddenly been placed across the room in time to catch the mug.he looked about as time appeared as if it were moving slower. Much much slower. To Flash's astonishment golden lightning began to move about him as he darted about the room at speeds he had never been able to accomplish. An idea had come to mind for the stallion. He completed the work in mere seconds and stepped back with a smile. How was he to stop this? He focused on slower thoughts, and to his surprise everything went back to normal.

After a couple minuets of using his speed to get things done faster than he had ever done before Flash listened to a familiar rush from outside. Darting past every guard he was stopped in an empty open area by a white and gold blur of speed rushing about. It stopped before the stallion; twitching and jolting as it moved slowly about him observing and watching.
"So, you have finally obtained your speed?" It said flatly with a mare's voice.
"How do you mean 'Finally?'" Flash asked taking a half step back.
"I've been waiting Flash ." The mare penetratingly said grabbing the stallions consciousness with her voice.
"You met me when I was but a colt. And you said you waited. What does that mean?" Flash inquired getting ready to run.
"I've been chasing speedsters like you for a while now. I have been doing away with the criminals that you have failed to capture or stop. I am Judge, Jury, and Executioner. I Am Godspeed!" The blur declared as it slowed down to reveal a slender, tall, alicorn shaped figure.
"There are more like me?" Flash questioned. What he wanted was information.
"Yes. Many more. But you have the most of what I want. Speed! " She said trowing Flash to the ground. "But you do not have enough of what I want yet." With that the speedster left. After a couple of seconds another blur came darting to the open plaza stopping before the stallion to help him up.
"Are you okay?" The female voice said with a cheerie pop. Flash got a look at her. She was a pink mare with a frizzy mane and a red material over her chest that held a lightning bot upon it. Upon her head was a dome shaped helmet with two golden wings upon it.
"Pinkie?" Flash asked. They had met before a couple of times. She was nice. Flash had become friends with her recently.
"Hi, Flash." The mare said happily. In a few seconds another blur entered the area in a blitz of red lightning and yellow streaks. As it stopped is was the figure of a mare. Or, at least Flash thought it was a mare. She was breathing pretty heavily. The only identification he could make from the mare were two pale grey eyes, a sand coloured muzzle, and crimson mane. After a few second of heavy breathing she rose up in a more recuperated state.
"Sorry Pinkie. I haven't eaten anything all day." The voice of a young stallion said. The yellow speedster was not a mare. "I'm just gonna....pass out if that's okay with you." The stallion fell forward as Flash caught him.
"Wow, he's light." He said pulling him over his back. "Why'd he pass out?"
"If speedsters don't get enough calories they pass out. He'll be fine after a little rest and some food." Pinkie replied.
"Who is he?" Flash inquired. Perhaps he was asking too many questions.
"His name is Professor Zoom." She said happily.
After bringing the stallion to Flash's lab he set him down gently on the empty desk in the corner. "What brings you here pinkie?" Flash asked looking for the protein bars he had left in his office.
"I saw a fast purple thing and i just had to chase it then there was a golden and white thing that moved faster and Professor Zoom was chasing it and I followed him and we ran around Equstria and across an ocean and then we went north and ran around the Crustal Empire for a while and then ended up here. Well not Immediately ended up here. I was a little hungry for cake and I *gasp* wanted some cake so I had some while the Professor chased the white blur for a little then we met up with you." Pinkie elaborated with her notorious rant.
After a few quiet minuets the Professor awoke slowly. He was rubbing his temples with his hooves. "Where am I?" He asked looking about the room. He looked to Flash. "Who's this?"
"My name's Flash." The orange stallion replied.
"Is that your hero Alias?" He quarried.
"Hero Alias?" Flash was not sure what that meant.
"You know. The name you use to cover your Identity. For Example, I'm Professor Zoom." The golden speedster replied.
He already said his name. Might as well use it. "I'm the Flash."
"So am I." Pinkie said bouncing. "Ooo. You can call me Flash I!"
"Where's your suit?" The Professor asked sitting up right. He was even more noticeably mare like.
"It's a little ridiculous to wear a suit isn't it?" Flash said hoping not to wear one of those flashy comic book onsies.
"They're not just for looks, Flash." Zoom added. "It's anti friction material. Not only that, there's a communicator in my logo. I can get you one. Give me a second." Professor Zoom disappeared in a strike of red lightning and returned with a suit that looked exactly like his with inverted colours. "Here. It's fare more advanced than mine. The boots are anti slip material, so running on ice should be easy. You've also got access to all of our communicators, so be careful who you're talking to. Batmare, Supermare, and Green Arrow don't know you yet."
"Thanks..." Flash said hesitantly as he put it on. It fit, with a little effort.
Static an voices began to emanate from Pinkie's helmet. "Hello!" She said jubilantly. "Okay." She turned to Professor Zoom. "I need to go to Maretropolis." Pinkie disappeared in a flash.
"Alrighty then. Down to business, Flash." Professor Zoom said standing up after consuming a strange white material. "You've seen her, haven't you?"
Flash was not sure what exactly he meant by 'you've seen her.' "Seen who?"
"Rush." He said with a stern look.

Flash was not entirely sure who Rush was exactly. He assumed that Professor Zoom meant Godspeed. "Who?" Flash asked just to make sure.
"The alicorn speedster. The one dressed in purple. She calls herself 'Rush.'" He said as he looked out the window from Flash's office.
"I'm sorry." Flash said sitting down. "This is all happening extremely quickly. I was on guard duty and now I've been thrown into an investigation of some speedster called 'Rush' with two more speedsters."
Professor Zoom sat down and sighed. "You're right. It was wrong for us to drag you into this." He said αs his mare-like features became prominent. He was unusually mare-like. "You can leave if you like."
"No, I want to help, but I don't understand what has happened to me." Flash replied to the now kind stallion.
"Perhaps I should explain. Where would you like to start?" Professor Zoom added.
"What happened to me?" That was perhaps the biggest question on Flash's mind. "What are you? Your lightning is a different colour."
"Let's start with you. You were struck with lightning in something we call a speed force storm." Professor Zoom began. "The speed force has a tendency to lash out at random and very rarely strikes ponies. You see, the speed force is sentient. It can choose ponies to become speedsters of its own free will. You are one of those ponies. You are a speedster."
"What about you?" Flash asked. "Your lightning is crimson red and mine is golden."
"I'm a mistake." He said hesitantly. "I possess a version of the speed force known as the 'negative speed force.' I accidentally created it trying to capture lightning in a jar. And I don't mean that as an expression. I had a transmutation circle set up to create a reverse version of lightning. The one thing I didn't know was that the storm I was in was a speed force storm. The lightning went for the circle, but the moment I activated the transmutation circle the speed force struck me and I accidentally created the negative speed force." He explained as he began to reverberate his hoof to reveal the crimson lightning.
"You're different from Pinkie and Rush?" Flash inquired.
"Vastly." Professor Zoom replied. " Like you, Pinkie possesses the normal speed force."
"And rush?" Flash queried.
"Rush possesses the neutral speed force. A form of speed force only available to alicorns. It's extremely rare, meaning that only a few alicorns are allowed to possess it." The professor explained. "She is the only pony we know of who uses it. She has murdered many a pony in her earlier days. Including the entirety of the Akatsuki clan of Neighpon."
The name 'Akatsuki' was definitely familiar to Flash. "Akatsuki..." He thought to himself. "No Nihon!" His memory finaly registered the name. "The Akatsuki clan of southern Neighpon! Descendants of the Fifth Hokage!" Not to long after what the stallion said processed in the stallion's mind. "They're dead?"
"There is said to be one survivor." Professor Zoom said returning to his initial standing position. "He also possesses the kekkegenkai."
"Who are you?" Flash cut in. It did not seem fair that he knew what flash looked like and he did not know what the Professor looked like. The Professor looked up at him. "I apologize for being blunt."
Professor Zoom pulled the mask off of his face to reveal what looked to be makeup. But had the scent of blood. “I suppose if we are to be working together you should know what I look like.” His voice said, echoing in the small room. “I’ll have to use a disguise later to appear different. Rush already knows what I look like.”
“O-okay.” Flash said as his current questions had been answered.

It was early morning. The smell of magic from the plants about the window sills seeped its way into Flash’s nose. The sounds of hooves tapping the ground filled the sunset orange stallion’s ears. The smell of fresh neightallian herb bread could be smelled from the bakery not to far from the city centre. It was peaceful. For the most part. Flash enjoyed his home. It was his day off and the Professor said that nothing should come up today since he had gone to see Batmare in Canterlot.
“Hi, Flash.” A familiar voice called. It was the princess from the hospital. Flash waved in an unsure fashion. He put on a genuine smile. Don’t get him wrong, he was glad to see her, but he has a lot on his mind as of right now. Maybe this is what he needed. To make a new friend. Unexpectedly, she embraced the guard. His wings shot out faster than he had ever run. It was quite unexpected to receive such a kind gesture. No pony really seemed to ‘enjoy’ his presence. But she seemed to.
"Hi Princess." I said as I returned the hug.
"Just Twilight is fine." The Alicorn replied as she released her embrace.
