Her Lunar Knight

"What a long an arduous day" Princess Luna muttered as she trudged back to her chambers in Canterlot Castle. Her sister had to leave earlier that day to negotiate with the leaders of Saddle-Arabia, Celestia had asked Luna to preform day court for her sister.  Luna thought this would be a great way for her to take a more active role in the politics in Canterlot but she didn't expect was the nobility to just try and waltz in and demand for more privileges even with there prestigious titles and almost infinite amount of wealth  each pony possessed she was appalled this is what has become of the ponies she had ruled over. so after sitting and listening to their prattling she decided to return to her chambers for the first peace she had been able to get all day.

As she approached her room Luna passed guard after guard nodding to each as they gave a short quick bow to the lunar princess. Reaching her door she turned to one of the night guard that was standing stoically at the door, she nodded again and walked in "There will be no interruptions tonight unless its absolutely important understood Shadow Shield?" Luna told her guard at the door.

"Yes your highness" the guard on the left responded as the door slammed shut and the lunar princess fell on her bed getting ready to preform her nightly duties over watching the dreams of Equestria. a few hours had passed as she was roused from her sleep the call of nature ever strong she got up from her bed to use the restroom and promptly returned to her bed staring up at the moon she had been banished too. giving a silent relief to be free from the maddening prison but also still feeling bitter for the malice she had held toward her sister and the ponies back then. She decided to take a short flight under  the moonlight. Spreading he dark wings she took a running jump off her balcony  and into the night sky.

Aegis Bolt as more of a night owl the most ponies,  while other ponies were in bed at the late hour he decided to go for a stroll around Canterlot. Being a guard a a few perks one of which was being able to go into the gardens at night so that what he did leaving the barracks of the castle to explore he serene gardens. Upon entering the gardens he noticed that the Lumenwood flowers had just started their yearly bloom he stopped and observed the glowing flowers for a few minutes before moving on. He began humming a small tune to himself as he trotted towards Crescent Hill , a small plateau that overlooked the entire garden but more importantly the sky above being bright and vibrant as usual. "looking amazing as always your Majesty." he muttered as he sat just staring up at the masterpiece that Princess Luna had made again and again the night sky being the most beautifyul thing he had ever seen but tonight he noticed the stars were more dimmer then normal. Most ponies would not notice this but since Aegis to these walks almost nightly he could see the light were luminescent but less bright then normal. pushing the thought away he just focused on the sky as he lost himself to the night.

Princess Luna was still in flight over the gardens not a cloud in the sky as she approached the vast landscape of green  she noticed upon her favorite spot aptly Named Crescent Hill a lone pony with a red and black mane just staring up at what looked like her so she had glided down to the hill as she approached the pony she noticed that it was a stallion and his eyes were actually closed. she made a soft landing on the grass and approached the stallion. he had not moved a single muscle his breathing slow and calm.

"A truly wondrous night inst it?" she asked aloud, the stallion didn't turn his head but responded. "yes it truly is its a wonder why no pony is willing to just stop and  look upon Princess Luna's sky, the very same they so easily sleep under but it is understandable all ponies need sleep after all," his retort caught the princess off kilter not many ponies enjoyed her night but there were a lo that actually do. Luna approached the stallion sitting beside him "You truly appreciate our night?" she spoke out the question with doubt in her heart "Very much so i love taking walks at this hour and just enjoy the night and to hopefully get to actually speak to the mare that brings the ponies the peace of her night." he returned feeling the presence close to himself.  after a few minutes of silence the stallion heard a sniffle and opened his eyes and to his shock the lunar princess was sitting there just inches away from him silver tears in her eyes as she looked up at her sky "thank you young stallion its very rare i hear compliments like that and each is further proof i was to hasty in my actions as Nightmare Moon." she turned to look at him but was met with nothing but a blank stare. she stared back into his deep obsidian eyes she saw something there a longing for something  but also a warmness inside the black orbs. "i'm truly sorry for not acknowledging your presence Princess Luna i was just lost in the clouds of my mind." Luna let out a warm laugh as she scooted closer "Tis' not a problem noble stallion since you did give such wonderful complements." the two just sat in silence for what seemed like hours until Luna broke the silence "So what is your name noble stallion?" she asked. "The names Aegis Bolt." upon inspection he was a lean but decently muscled stallion with a horn upon his head she turned looking up at the moon as they fell back into silence. Aegis had let out a yawn as he started to rise "I'm sorry Princess but i must be returning to the barracks I'm starting to become tired and i do have night duty tomorrow." he said "You can call me Luna, aegis and yes id o agree today has been long and annoying considering the nobles of this town i don't know how my sister puts up with them." Luna remarked as she rose as well."I know what you mean Luna I've had to be in that court room and some of the request that they would ask for were so asinine i wished i could just tell them to shut the buck up and just accept your not getting special treatment s stop bucking asking for it and complaining like bucking foals!" aegis said aloud and stood still realizing what he said until Luna had promptly burst out laughing "actually that's the exact same thought my sister has not that particular subject so at least there's that!" the two were having a good laugh as Aegis slowed his laughing "well maybe we can see each other again after i get off work tonight we could get some coffee if you want?" Aegis alluded to wanting to hang out but not wanting to sound desperate, "I would truly enjoy that Aegis you have a good night and don't work to hard okay?" she spread her wings read to take flight "i wont and you have a  good night too!" he called out as she began to leave.  Luna took flight and Aegis walked out of the gardens smiling his dream of meeting the princess of the night had been fulfilled AND she was willing to see him again with the thought in his hear he returned to the barracks and promptly got into bed awaiting the next day with his new friend Luna,
