Life was always a mystery to me. One moment time seems to be going by slow, the next it goes by to fast. It can never balance itself out. As for me, I've been through a lot in the past few years. Fought many creatures that roamed Equestria. Became the element of honesty. Heck, saved Equestria more times then I'm recalled for. After things settled down, I maintain the farm quite well. Granny passed a few months ago, but as written in her will I became in charge of Sweet Apple Acres. Big Mac married Cherrilee, and started raising a family. As for Applebloom, she and her friends traveled Equestria helping ponies find their cutie marks. Not a day goes by I'm not proud of them both.
Maintaining a farm takes a lot of work. I wake up at the crack of dawn, and fall asleep when the stars shine there brightest. I never really settled down with anypony. I was always way to busy with the farm to pay attention to a relationship. Even though I hardly every had free time, I always had time for my friends. We would meet up a few times each month.
Rainbow Dash had became the best Wonderbolt Equestria had every seen. After Spitfire retired, she became Captain ever since. Pinkie Pie had finally became the official owner of Sugar Cube Corner. Sure Mr. and Mrs. Cake visited her to check up on things. Rarity fashion lines became the most famous all around Equestria. She spend most of her time designing new outfit and maintaining her businesses. Twilight Sparkle had her hooves filled with being the Princess of Friendship. She helped so many ponies understand the true meaning of friendship. Lastly, Fluttershy started caring for hurt animals all over Equestria. She always did love animals.
One thing troubled me the past few days. Why does time go by so quickly? It feels like yesterday I had barely met Twilight, and save Equestria from Nightmare Moon. It never surprised me that one day I would look back on my memories. That day was today. I had finished with all my chores, and had a few hours to spear. I sat on a hill looking out towards the setting sun. With a gentle breeze, I became lost in my thoughts. I began to remember all my adventures I had.
The day I learned I was the elements of honesty surprised me. Never in my years of life I would have thought I would become part of something so important. Not only did I discover my element, but my friends that cared for me ever since.
From that day on, I started to see more problems that needed my help. I was needed when we defeated Discord, and turned him to stone. I was there when Twilight got her wings, and helped out when King Sombra returned. I have done so much, yet it feels like I was never here.
It's like the more I grow old I'm needed less and less. I no longer save Equestria from terrible monsters. I no longer have the element of Honesty, only the spirit inside. I'm hardly ever needed for friendship lessons. I'm just here living a normal life.
It honestly bores me. It makes me feel worthless, unneeded, and alone. But I'm not alone. I have my friends, but it seems we're drifting apart. We all have our separate lives. We are all needed else where.
In the past, we saved Equestria. But that's the past. The present shows we don't need to be heroes anymore. The future is for another day. In the future I hope things will change. Change for the better or for the worse.
Time can only tell what will become of us once great heroes. Only in time will we understand what the true meaning of life is. And when are time is up we will look back upon are adventures and remember the past. Because the past never changes but the ponies do.
For me, the day I looked back on the past wasn't because I was dying. I looked back because I wanted to change the future. I wanted to change my normal simple life to something better. To something that would bring the joys of the good old days.
Being lost in my thoughts took about several hours to come back to reality. Thinking so much I missed the surprise visit from somepony. This pony say next to me, and we began to chat. I chatted about our old adventures and she chatted about her new ones. It's been a while since I had anypony visit the farm.
This pony I chatted with was none other then Twilight Sparkle. She to had missed our old adventures. She talked about many ponies she helped in the past week. Saying how so many didn't even know how to begin a friendship. She even told me of one pony that reminded her of me. This pony was always honest, and grew up on a farm her whole life.
I was quite happy to have Twilighg over. As much thinking about I had done I nearly forgot about my future. After Twilight left I stayed on the hill for a bit longer. As much as I loved the night sky it was time for me to go home.
At home I walked into a silent house. No sounds of cooking in the kitchen. No laughing from the young pony and her friends. No 'Eeyup' coming from a stallion. It was just silence. I missed all those sounds I heard many years ago. I began to cry as I relived every memory I every made here. As much as I'm good at keeping my emotions in check, I let it out. I cried because the present changed so much from the past. I missed Granny Smith. I missed Big Mac, and I specially missed Applebloom. i wish I could relive those days gone by.
