(Prologue) Not Quite Ready
Twilight paced around her castle floor, mumbling about Rainbow Dash. Well, it seemed like mumbling to her, anyway, when in reality Spike was in the other room unwillingly listening in on her conversation with herself.
"What if she doesn't like me?!" She said, panicked. She soon changed to a softer tone and smiled, "Oh, just relax, you're friends. Of course she likes you," Her smile soon turned into an angered frown and she screamed, "Yeah, as a FRIEND!" Twilight halted and stomped her hoof in the polished floor, seeming as though she was yelling at someone in front of her, before groaning and continuing to walk in circles around her bedroom.
Spike hopped out of his small bed in the next room, opened the door and stepped out into the hallway. He walked to Twilight's room, which was right across his, and went inside. The sound of the door opening caused Twilight to yelp in surprise, and she stopped pacing to see Spike standing in the doorway, holding his Rarity plush, looking tired and grumpy.
"Twilight! It's the middle of the night! Why are you still up and screaming at yourself?" He asked, a hint of worry in his tone.
Twilight sighed, "I'm sorry, Spike. I'm just worried! I was planning on asking Rainbow on a date tomorrow, but what of she says no? What if she laughs at me? What if I make a FOOL of myself and can never show my face around her ever again?!" At this point, Twilight had collapsed onto the floor, shaking with her hooves covering her face. Spike walked over to her and moved her hooves and looked at her confusedly.
"Now you're just being ridiculous," He helped her up and slowly pushed her to her bed. "Now, you need to stop worrying and go to bed. If you want, you can vent to me about it in the morning..." He yawned as Twilight climbed into bed.
"Thanks, Spike," She smiled lightly as Spike nodded and left the room. Twilight covered her body in her soft blanket, and closed her eyes. Yet, no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't get her thoughts and worries out of her head. Eventually, after an hour of more mumbling, she somehow managed to worry herself to sleep.
