Chapter 1 - Metal, Ponies, and Cages
I woke from my rest with a yawn I sat up pulling my covers off of me than proceeding t undress from my current clothing namely a pair of grey boxers and a white t-shirt and got dressed into another pair of grey boxers, a black short sleeved t-shirt, some white socks, and a pair of denim jeans. Walking out my door and into the bathroom to my left I got ready for the day by brushing my teeth and applying deodorant. Walking down the steps, through the living room, and into the kitchen I heated up some leftover rigatoni from last night, now it may not have been the best food but, it was cheap and still tasted decent, even when heated up so, meh could be worse. After scrolling through videos on YouTube I saw nothing really of interest to me so I decided to head over to my laundromat to wash my clothes. I left with a decently sized basket full of laundry, I was about 10 feet across the driveway when I slipped on nothing as I dropped the basket forward onto the ground I covered my face and closed my eyes as I waiting for the inevitable pain of my arms hitting the pavement. Yet, it never came I slowly unblocked my arms and opened my eyes as I was falling through miles of blackness with small little wisps floating around me.
"What the fuck...?" I looked around me seeing the same blackness all around me. "Ok... A I'm dead, B I'm dreaming, or C I'm drugged off my ass, I know I'm not drugged so..." I hit myself as hard as I could in the stomach. "SHIT! OK I'm not dead or dreaming cause I still feel pain so... what exactly is happening" I looked around me only seeing wisps and blackness. "Maybe these things can help me?" Hopefully I don't explode... I touched the closest one too me, a constantly shifting color one going in and outward, as I touched it it seemed attracted to me and flowed right into me. "Oh... that's cool I guess? I brushed against another one with my head, which also came into me, now I didn't see it but I did feel it, so I have no idea what it looked like. I grabbed the most unique one I saw, It looked like a constantly shifting yin and yang symbol, which also came into me, I looked around again only too accidently swallow a blue and white one and start to choke on it. "Sh.. it!" I started to cough violently until it absorbed into my throat. "Okay-" cough. "I think I'm ok now." Hmmm, I wonder if I were to eat one, meh might as well play dumb bitch this once. I grabbed a cyan and red wisp and ate it. Tasted pretty good, a nice mix of spice and cool to balance it out.
I was taken out of my trance at these wisps as I suddenly face planted into the dirt. I whispered to myself. "Called... it" with that I passed out from the sudden hit.
I woke up with a pain in my head, probably because of that extraordinarily hard landing. I grabbed my head rubbing it slightly. "Hurts like a bitch too." I mumbled to myself. "Now, the real question is where the hell am I?" I looked around seeing a giant plains with nothing in sight except a few trees here and there. "How the fuck does that even happen, one second I'm taking laundry out, the next I'm waking up in a giant plains AFTER I faceplant into the ground!" I shouted for no reason. "Ugh, whatever for now I should look for some shelter, food, and water." I looked around again still seeing nothing I started walking in a random direction. "Whelp, adventure here I come!" I stated to no one imparticular. Looking around as I was walking, still only seeing trees I sighed. "Five minutes and nothing but trees and grass, WHERE THE FUCK AM I!" I started getting frustrated with this pointless walking. Yet, in the distance I saw a small grey track. "Railroad tracks!" I started running toward the tracks. About a minute of running towards the tracks I finally was at them and was breaking out in a slight sweat. "Ok now time to follow these tracks and hopefully I find civilization within an hour. I started walking along the tracks, counting the amount of planks as I went as I had nothing better to do... "629, 630, 631... this is so fucking boring!" I kept walking still irritated, I stopped counting and just kept walking. As I was walking I tripped over a plank. "SHIT!" I put my arms over my head as I expected to hit the iron bar on the side extremely hard but, all I felt was the sound of me hitting a bowl like piece of iron. I opened my right eye slightly only to see my shadow over a iron bowl I pushed off of it and got up slowly. "Dafaq?" I said confused as the bowl revolved closing itself into non-existence. "Ok...? I can do that now I guess?" I tried to do it again but, nothing happened. "That was cool I guess. Looks like I've got something to try whilst I walk" I kept walking and tried to summon in again by putting my hand out and this time I did, albeit a lot smaller in front of my hand, this time I got a better look at it and was able to see it was a bunch of steel sheets bolts together. "That's fucking cool!" I said excitedly. "Time to experiment, lets see what this can do." Overtime I found it harder to keep it closing and it slowly started getting smaller. "Damn... this is... hard." I started to grunt as I stopped keeping it up, it slowly revolved into nothingness again. "Phew, that's cool but, stressful as hell to keep together." I wiped the sweat from my brow as I continued to follow the railroad. I tried summoning other things such as swords, spears, armor, walls, golems, balls, etc. but, it seemed the only thing I could summon was bowl like shapes, such as the main things at first sight being, well bowls of course, and shields but, I figured I could turn the shields into spinning razor blades with a bit of training, or a float umbrella if I wanted to. After realizing I'd been walking for almost 2 hours by checking my watch because I got distracted trying to summon various objects with this new power I stopped feeling as if I'd just run a marathon. I was sweating profusely and up ahead I saw a desert where the tracks continued.
"Your fucking kidding me, my best chance at finding civilization goes through a fucking desert AND on top of it I feel tired as shit! Know what fuck it! Either I die in a desert via bullshit or I find civilization or some shit!" I continued to walk eventually coming into the desert silently muttering curses to myself. By now my lips were dried out and I felt like shit for several reasons. I kept walking eventually summoning a small iron shield above my head to block out the sun, after about 5 minutes of doing that I realized it used more energy than just flat out walking through the desert under the sun. I stop using it and continued walking. My mouth was now completely dry and my eyes were starting to get crusty. "Ugh when is this desert going to end." I kept following the tracks in a almost hypnotic state. Slowly but steadily I stopped sweating and got this infuriating headache. "Holy shit, I feel like a train just destroyed my body." My walking slowed steadily as well, Jesus this sucked. I checked my watch..."5 HOURS, I'VE BEEN WALKING FOR 5 HOURS!" With that I realized I'm pretty much screwed. I looked around seeing NOTHING, seriously, no cacti, no animals NOTHING. With that I fell to my knees. "I'm going to die here." Wow so this is it. "A slow and painful death, heh so this really is the end." With that I looked around and lost any hope I had left. With that my vision slowly blackened into nothing.
I woke up with blurred vision seeing blurs of dark grey and white. Where the hell am I, deserts aren't white and grey. I slowly regained my vision and sat up when I felt I could. I slowly looked around again now I clearly saw. I was in a cage... and the room was completely white. I tried to speak but all that came up was a violent hacking, a few drops of blood, and a pain in my throat. Why can't I speak? I thought to myself and why the hell am I in a cage. I looked around only to see 9 other cages each with humans in them. All of them naked... a slight blush formed on my face and I looked away. They all were different in one way or another, 5 were male including me and 5 were female. 2 of each were Caucasian 2 of each were African and the other ones were a shade of orange I've never seen. "Alright all the specimens are awake." I heard a voice behind me. Wait, specimens? I looked upwards and saw a small horse? Pony maybe? Why the hell are ponies talking? I focused on the yellow and white pony with interest. I saw him? Yes him, scribble something on his clipboard. "#7 appears to be studying me very closely." He scribbled else down something. I kept my suspicions to myself, though I really didn't have a choice in the matter. He put 'food' in each cage, well more like the green grool he called food. I carefully picked up the bowl and tested it with a finger. It wasn't that good, although it wasn't horrible and it seemed edible so I ate it. I used the bowl to pour it into my mouth and down my throat. I left my bowl in the side of the cage. He looked at me with the more interest than the others he then wrote something else on his clip and than left. What the hell is going on here? Oh well that's for later now's my chance to escape and to test my theory.
I summoned a small iron shield and started to spin it, and slowly cut through the bars. I cut the top and bottoms of 2 bars and slid through them, although a bit tightly. I made the shield revolve and looked around quickly eventually finding a clipboard with 10 papers, 1 for each human. I looked back at the 9 to see them gazing in amazement as well as growling and chirping at me and the others. I didn't have time to set the others free, but I'd be back for them. I looked through the clipboard quickly finding what I was looking for, the number I was referred to as, number 7.
Subject 7
Skin: White
Hair: Black
Scars: Right Elbow
Eye Color: Brown
Weight: 176 Lbs.
Height: 6" 3'
Diseases: None
Notes: 7 shows signs of advanced intellect and caution, taking time to study my behavior and make sure his food wasn't contaminated. He also appears to by some miracle have no physical problems aside from unnatural K9s and a slightly lower than average weight. More testing needs to be done before I can determine if 7 is healthy in other categories.
Now that surprised me, I may have been intelligent but, I wasn't the smartest or most cautious person in the world. Maybe that's why all the humans were chirping, were they really that dumb? Well, no time to check now I have to get out of here. I opened a few doors leading to different areas such as a 'food' and water storage and a cabinet with other supplies. I opened the third door leading to a long hallway, which I snuck under several windows and doors just in case. I looked around awhile finding nothing but unnamed doors and windows until I eventually came across a exit sign and followed it down 3 more halls until I found a exit I walked out with almost no trouble, was this really the best they could do? Oh well, I'm not complaining I exited through the door and ran across the fresh grass and over a fence into the woods near it.
I smelled the fresh air around me, sweet relief! I grabbed some twigs and brush lying around and made a bow out of a bent branch and some vine. I started the ember after my second try with a almost snapped vine. I picked it up slowly and started to blow it until it caught fire. I set it down into the brush and set up a hut about 6 inches off the ground using fallen logs and tied them together with more vine and started to cross the top of it a few times and tie it together. I then added some shrubs to the roof and set up a crud wooden floor. After It was done I got onto it and heard a slight groan from it. "Oh well, at least it should hold fine." I threw some more scrap foliage into the fire and kept the fire going.
Now, priority 2 food and water...
