The Scaled Courier

A few days after I told Mom the girls and Luna about the wasteland or at least a version of my story I went into the city of Canterlot. I still got a few stairs, as a Dragon in strange clothing it was not a common sight in Canterlot, but as long as nobody was denying me service for being a Dragon or mutant I was too happy to endure the stairs. I made my way to a burger stand when some foal said "look mommy a dragon." and pointed at me.

"Free Swimmer that's rude." she said scolding the foal before she turned to "I'm sorry sir."

"It's okay I almost forgot what I was." I joked as I was called worse before so it didn't faze me I walked up to the counter and ordered my hayburger as the day of questionable meats while sometimes good was over for me for better or worse. I then headed to the park to enjoy my food.

While in the park I saw families playing people enjoying themselves and other thing you wouldn't commonly see in the Mojave, maybe the NCR if you were lucky, but not the Mojave. after I finished eating a soccer ball was kicked in my direction. "Hey Mr. can you kick the ball in our direction?" The colt asked as I kicked the ball back to him. "Thanks MR." the colt said running with his ball. It was nice to see green again and not be underground or have mutant plant monsters. But as I was preparing to leave when I heard rattling from the bush beside me and old instincts kicked in as I drew Maria. As a squirrel came out of the bush I put Maria back in the holster and walked away before I embarrassed myself or hurt somepony.

I decided to catch a movie as I had nothing better to do, as I got in with my snacks I sat down to watch it, It was some garbage sci-fi movie that reminded me to much of Big Mountain and I had to get out of there before I had a bad flashback to take a wrong turn, Having your brain, heart and spine ripped out of you will do that.

I was unable to get my money back from the movie which meant I was stuck with a ticket to a movie that I walked out on due to PTSD. I decided to visit the royal treasury to see If my bottle caps had anything of interest.

“Ah hello Spike.” The stallion said as I took a seat. “I’m Shiny Metal, now lets see those caps.” He said as I pulled out a bottle cap and handed it to him. “Ah yes now could you give me a moment to inspect it.” he said as I left the office to let him work.

“Ah hello Spike.” another Stallion said as he entered the room.

“Shiny metal is busy right now sorry.” I said as he looked at me funny.

“But I have the reports he asked for what could he be so busy with?” he asked.

I pulled out a bottle cap and said. “He’s trying to see if these bottle caps are worth anything.” I said as he began laughing.
“Yeah maybe two cents.” he said laughing as Shiny metal came out. “Oh good I have your...” he said as he was pushed aside.

“Spike how many of these bottle caps do you have?” Shiny metal asked.

“I don’t maybe a couple thousand.” I said as the guy that was carrying papers whistled.

“Wow thats a lot of pennies.” he said “now about those papers” the stallion said as Shiny ignored him.

“Spike if you cash them all at once you may bankrupt Equestria.” Shiny said as the stallion dropped his papers.

“What how there just bottle caps?” he said as Shiny finally acknowledged him.

“The metal is next to non existence in well the planet and he has thousands if not hundred thousands bits in a handful of Caps.” Shiny said as the stallion jaw dropped and he began to pick up the papers he dropped. “I’ll need those papers when you're done fooling around.” Shiny metal said as I left the royal treasury.

I wondered what to do next as one of Luna’s guards came to me. “Your aunt has requested you.” he said as I followed him to the castle and up to Luna’s tower. “Princess I have brought your nephew.” the guard said.

“Good, you may leave us.” she said.

“Yes princess.” the guard said as he left.

“Hello Luna.” I said as she looked at me.

“Spike take a sea.t” she said firmly as I took a seat.

“Is there something wrong?” I asked.

“I want to know why did you lie when you told your story?” She said as I faked ignorance.

“I didn’t Lie.” I said, lying.

“You're lying right now.” she said.

“Whats this about?” I asked.

“In your dreams your marking yourself as a murderer yet in the story you told you spoke your way out of your problems and when you did fight you didn’t do the kill them, dreams don’t lie.” She said as I came clean.

“Fine I didn't want the others to hear how I killed In the Mojave you saw what Fluttershy looked like when I said I was attacked by a dog I didn’t want them to look at me differently.” I said as Luna looked at me.

“Fine I’ll keep your secret, only because I feel like you should be the one to tell them not me.” She said as I walked out.

“I need a drink...” I said as I pulled out my vault 13 water canteen and took a drink. “I wonder if any bars are open.” I asked myself as I flew off to the bar district.
