A Reason for Living

Sorry, people. I have no excuse for taking so long. Hope you enjoy.

Alright. Time to step back and take a look at what's going on. There are... 1.. 2, 3, 4... 5, 6... 11 ponies in my living room. Well, not all in my living room. And they were humans right now. And a dragon. Also a human. Don't want to leave the little guy out. Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy are talking to my sister down the hall. Princess Celestia in on the couch, chatting with my parents. The three little ones are marveling at their new human bodies. Applejack, Rarity, Twilight, and Spike are huddled around the TV, completely fascinated. Rainbow Dash is taking a nap on the couch next to Celestia. And Derpy... is just sitting there on the floor in the corner? That's odd.

I sat down next to Derpy. "Hey, Derpy! Why are you sitting over here, by yourself?"

"Oh, no reason, really."

"Bull. You obviously look depressed. Did someone say something to you? Was Rarity mad?"

"No! Well, a little. But she said it was okay since Twilight and the others were here too. She just said to be more
careful next time."

"Oh, well, it's good that everything worked out, right? Though I still have no idea how you got here in the first place."

"That's just it! I have no idea how I got here. Things like this happen to me all the time! Like the time I dropped that
piano on Twilight, it wasn't even in my hooves to begin with! No one ever touched that piano, it just fell, apparently right out
of my hooves. I try to be careful. I really do, it's just... I..."

"Derpy! It's okay. Really! Nobody's really mad at you. I know some ponies laugh at you or blame you for things, but
we really do like you. Let me tell you a little story." She jumps up and starts to circle in place, then lays back down, looking
up at me anxiously. Just like a puppy. "Okay then. You know how we humans have a show that all of you are characters in,
right?" She nods. "Well, obviously, you are one of those characters. The time that you broke part of city hall is the time I'm
talking about. I don't know what happened. But after that episode aired and us humans heard your voice and the way you
acted, a lot of us flipped. There a lot of little kids who watch the show and the parents of those little kids were very upset
that... well, we assumed it was Hasbro or Lauren Faust... wrote you in that way. I have no idea what connection they must
have to Equestria. Anyway, there were a lot of angry parents saying that ponies like you shouldn't be part of a kid's show
and that you should be taken out.

But, at the same time, there are a lot of guys like me who watch the show. And when we say you, we loved you. And
we were appalled that anyone would this we were making fun of you. Sure, we thought it was funny that you somehow
broke city hall and were prone to accidents, but we weren't laughing AT you. We would NEVER laugh at you. And I'm sure
everyone in Equestria feels the same. We may find it funny that you can have such bad luck and we might get a little
frustrated when things we worked on are destroyed or messed up, but we could never stay mad at somepony as cute as
you," I said, already blushing.

I realized she had been on the verge of tears. I don't know if it was because she was remembering all the times that
people must have been mad at her or because she was upset before I even started talking to her, but either way, she
surprised me with her response. A hug. Another hug from Derpy. And I was more than okay with that.

She lets go and I can't help but ask her: "So, is your name actually Derpy Hooves or was that a nickname that stuck?"

"No," she says, still wiping away tears. "Derpy is my real name. Some of my Ponyville friends try to call be Ditsy
instead, to make me feel better. But I know most ponies don't really mean anything by it."

"Well, as long as you know that, I guess it's okay." I trail off, still thinking about that hug. Derpy in human form is pretty
damn cute. Her eyes are a lot less noticeable though. I gotta say, I liked the pony eyes bett- what am I saying? It was just
a hug between friends. And she's not really a human. Where the hell did this come from anyway? Still, they ARE... I
looked around my living room. They are all pretty cute for human girls.

Derpy was wearing an oversize grey T-shirt and sweatpants. Pinkie had a light pink tank top with short jean shorts.
Fluttershy a long yellow sundress. Applejack looked as you'd expect. Like a cowgirl. Short shorts, straw hat. Twilight was
actually wearing a sweater-vest. Did they even have something like that in Equestria? Where did she get her ideas for
these outfits? Dash looked like she was wearing a warm-up suit for track or something. Rarity's dress was short. Almost
too short, but knowing her, it was probably exactly what she wanted. Beautiful and perhaps a little teasing. The Crusaders
looked a lot like their older siblings. Applebloom looked like Applejack, Sweetie Bell's dress was like Rarity's only longer
and more innocent (thank god) and Scoots. Well, she looked a little like Dash, but with more of a skateboarder look.
Baggy jeans and a T-shirt. Somehow, she still managed to look a little like a chicken.

And of course Celestia. Good lord, even Rarity's Gala dresses couldn't match up to her dress. It was something of a
mix between 17th century queen's dress and a jewel encrusted wedding dress. Easily the most beautiful dress I'd ever
seen.

The whole lot of them were... well, more than interesting. I could already see it was going to be hard to keep my mind
from seeing them... THAT way. I mean really, how wrong is that? They're not actually humans, they're just... well,
temporarily humans. Right?

Brain Convo-

But they're damn HOT! The whole lot of them! Even Celestia was a fucking MILF!

Ew! Brain! No. I've never seen Celestia that way. Hell no! Although there was that picture of Luna wearing socks.
That was kinda cute.

Right, now imagine her as a human wearing socks. JUST socks.

Goddamnit, brain, no! I don't even know how old these girls ARE!

So? Who knows how time passes between here and there? They could be 200 years old! I mean, come on, if
Celestia is over a thousand, how old is Granny Smith?

... Good lord, I never thought of that. But, if they're 200...

DETAILS, details, it's fine! They look and act like they're your age, why not go for it?

If a guy looks and acts like a girl...

Okay, okay, fine. But that's not the point here. You know all about them.

Yes, which is quite creepy to them.

I...I don't know... I've always been attracted to the shy, nerdy girls at school... but there's no way I'd have the guts to do
anything with Fluttershy! And I really like Rainbow Dash's toughness. I think we'd have a lot of fun together just hanging
out, but I can't see us doing anything romantic. But Derpy's so cute and Twilight's like.... seductive and... God damn it. I am
NOT doing this. They are PONIES! END OF CONVERSATION!

Alright, fine. But I'm your brain and I control your boners. Have fun with that.

No, really, end of Brain conversation.

"Okay, so about the amusement park. Mom, dad, can I have a minute with the girls alone?"

My mom looked away from Celestia. "Sure you can. After you explain who they are and why they're here. I don't mind
you having a few friends over, but where did they all come from! I don't remember you having this many friends."

"Gee, thanks mom. Look, I guess I was going to have to tell you anyway." I took a deep breath and started naming
them from left to right. "That's Applebloom, Sweetie Bell and Scootaloo. Over there is Rarity, Twilight, Applejack and the
boy is Spike. I assume you know that you're talking to Princess Celestia. Rainbow Dash is the one asleep next to her and
down the hall are Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy. They are ponies from the magical land of Equestria. That one (pointing to
Twilight) got here by teleporting. That one (Pointing to Dash) got here by going so fast, she broke the barrier between
dimensions. That one (Pointing to Celestia) Came by way of Dragon burp and that one... (pointing to Derpy) Right, sorry,
Derpy. Missed you before cuz you're sitting in the corner. That one is Derpy Hooves and none of us have any idea how
she got here. We good now? There's really nothing else I can say that would make any sense to you."

Celestia stood up, taking my mom by the hand. "Here, why don't we leave them alone and I'll try to explain what's
going on. I'm sure this must all be very confusing." My mom nodded, still in shock from my... er.. introduction. They went
down the hall into my parent's bedroom and closed the door.

"Alright then, the park. There are... I think it was 11 of you. Plus me and my sister is 13. Twilight, unless you can
magic up some money or tickets for us, there is no way I can pay for all of us to go."

"I can't do that! That's... well, it's not right!"

"Yeah, I figured." Personally, I'd gladly endure a bit of counterfeiting on my conscience to have a day with the girls.
"Besides, we'd need at least 2 cars. Maybe even 3 to get us all there and I doubt my parents will want to go. It's a pretty
long drive." I looked at the clock. "It's not worth it to go today anyway. We'd have had to leave like... 2 hours ago."

"Yeah, an' ah hate to say it, but ah think we should be getting back to Equestria. Big Mac an' Granny Smith must be
worried sick."

Oh, no. They want to go already? "You don't want to at least stay for the day?"

"No, I think Applejack is right," said Twilight. The Princess shouldn't be away from Canterlot for long. Especially since
no one back home knows where she is."

"But... you can't! You only just got here!"

"I'm sorry, but we have to. Rarity, go get your things. I'll get the Princess."

"Well, couldn't we at least go to the park for the day? Have a picnic or something?"

They all turned away awkwardly. None of them were interested in staying. Not even the Crusaders were interested in the human world. Fluttershy came over and put a hand on my shoulder, but even she couldn't look me in the eye. Even she didn't want to stay.

Twilight came back with the Princess. "Alright, gang. Let's head home. Gather round."

They all gathered around Twilight and looked at me. I could tell they felt bad. And I wanted them to stay. Of course I
did. But I couldn't make them feel worse either. I wanted to show them everything. Show twilight our culture. Show
Fluttershy all the animals here. Show Rainbow all the cool sports we have. There really was something for all of them. But
I couldn't say that. I had to just let them go. They came into my life so easily, why couldn't they go easily too? There was
no reason to keep them away from home. Twilight had her magic, it's not like they were stuck. The whole this was an
accident to begin with. Besides, if I were on some strange world with an alien, I'd probably want to get home quick too.

Twilight gave a small wave. "Goodbye, friend."

I waved back. I wanted to ask if they'd visit. If they come back to see me sometime when they had nothing to do. I
REALLY wanted to ask if I could go with them. But I couldn't.

Twilight's horn started to glow and they changed back into ponies.

"Wait! You can't! Don't you want to see the world? Applejack, we have farms too! Rarity, we have a whole world of
fashion! I'm sure you'd love it! Pinkie, don't you want to go to a human world party? Derpy! I... We have muffins!" None
of them answered. None of them could even look at me. Except Derpy. I saw Pinkie wipe her eyes next to Derpy. They
were both crying. I hadn't noticed, but I was too. I mean, who wouldn't? I only had a moment to stare into Derpy's eyes
before she disappeared right in front of me. And I was alone. Again.

I fell back into the chair behind me. They were gone. Came and gone in only a day. It really seemed like forever ago
that Dash appeared in my car. It had really only been two days, but it felt like I'd known them forever. Like I was part of the
gang. I knew they wouldn't be back. Not a single one of them wanted to stay. It was hard enough getting them to stay one
night, there was no way they'd come back. In fact, Twilight would probably find some way of making sure she never ended
up here again. Blocking the dimensional path they came through with her magic or something.

I stood up and headed downstairs to my room. Closing the door behind me, I stopped. I was going to watch an
episode. That was my instinct. I felt like shit, so I'd go watch some ponies. Somehow, I doubted that it would make me feel
better this time.

I laid down on the bed and stared at the ceiling. What could I do now? Nothing really went through my mind. I just...
laid there. Until I heard a...

*Pop* I sat up, looking around. Nothing. There was no one there. Of course I was hearing things. The sound I
wanted to hear so badly. The sound I knew I wouldn't hear.

There was a knock at the door. My parents always knocked, thank god. "Come in." A few second went by. "You can-"

"Hello?"

That voice. That's not my parents OR my sister. I jumped up, flinging the door open. "DERPY!! You came back?!"

"You said you had muffins?"

Again, I'm sorry this took so long. I've been trying to put an amusement park chapter in almost every story I write, but I always end up with writers block. So until then, I'm giving everypony a day with our guy. Also, since no one asked about it, this wasn't meant to be a self-insert. This is a character I use in my stories on fictionpress and most every other story. A character with a consistent background and personality that is similar to mine, but different enough that I don't feel that it's me in the story. Anyway, I've already started the next chapter and although it's a bit late, it will include the Olympics a bit. Thanks everyone... re-reading the comments was the only thing that stopped me from just cancelling this when I got completely stuck on the park. Thank you!
