//-------------------------------------------------------// Starting Again -by Ghost wolf- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Revision //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue Prologue "Aaaauuughh....", It felt like my head exploded. There was a constant, throbbing pain in the back of my skull. It felt like someone hit me on the head with a metal bar multiple times. When I tried to open my eyes, everything was blurry and unfocused. The brightness of everything agitated my headache, so I quickly closed my eyes again, not wanting to arouse the headache even more. I tried to get my bearings on the situation at hand, trying to remember what happened to me, but my headache prevented me from doing so as it hurt to even think. Groaning from the pain and frustration, I laid where I was to let myself rest a bit before trying to do anything again. After a few moments, my headache started to slowly cascade, enabling me to use my thoughts again. I didn't want to open my eyes a second time for the fear of making the headache worse, so I tried to feel around me to get an idea of where I was laying. It felt like I was on dirt or something, probably laying in some grass as well. There were some birds chirping. It didn't really help much with figuring out where I was, but it did cause me to become curious. Deciding to open my eyes again, this time slowly, I was greeted yet again by blurred, unfocused shapes. But at least it wasn't as bright anymore. Blinking my eyes a few times to clear up my sight, I tried to slowly sit up as well. This caused my body to ache, albeit not as bad as my head a few moments ago, but it still enticed a groan from me. Hearing myself a little clearer this time, I was able to tell that something was wrong. My groan sounded higher in pitch and maybe... younger? Something was going on and I wanted to find out what it was. Finally clearing the fogginess from my eyes, I looked down at my body. Yeah something was wrong, I don't think i'm supposed to have fur on my everything. Now really confused at my peculiar situation, I look at my hands and feet... Or rather what used to be hands and feet. Instead there were hooves. Dark grey hooves. "What in the....", was all I could mutter before fully hearing my groggy, child-like voice. I didn't really know what to make up of it, but my brain was still in the process of waking up so I wasn't as shocked as I should be. Looking at myself again to make sure I wasn't imagining it, I spotted something that caught my interest. There was a tail poking through my legs. Not like a lizard tail or a dog tail, but a tail that you would only see from like a horse or something. This was starting to become a little to much to handle as my brain started to fully catch up from the dreary-like state it was just in. I started to frantically move away from my new appendages, but as they are attached to me, I could not get away from them. My tail flickered from the movement, causing me to give a 'yelp'. I didn't know what happened to me, but I became scared, terrified even. "What happened to me...?". I tried to muster enough brain power to remember what exactly caused me to become this... thing... but everything just came up blank. I couldn't remember anything really now that I thought about it. Dread was creeping up on me and the hair- fur on the back of my neck stood up. Now fully awake and aware of how dire the situation was, I became panicky and started to hyperventilate. Everything was larger than I was and caused me to have a desire to run. But that would be useless as I can't run from literally everything. "M-mirror....I n-need a mirror", I stammered to no one in particular. Frantically looking around me, I finally took notice that I was in a forest of some kind, but I quickly threw the observation in the back of my mind as I had more important things to do. Continuing my search for something reflective, I spotted a stream not too far away from my position. Standing up, I tried to hurriedly make my way to it, but all that resulted in was a face plant. I tried to stand up again, but all was in vain. Scared, frustrated, and in a state of disarray, I resorted to crawling to the stream. As I made my way over to the stream I felt the dread rise tenfold and my already shaking body become numb. Reaching the stream I stopped and looked at the calm, flowing water. I don't know how long I stared at it, but it felt like an eternity. I fought the inclination to run, I needed to see what happened to me, what I looked like. Using the rest of my energy from my tired body, physically and mentally, I looked over the edge into the surprisingly reflective water to see the face of... a little horse. I froze from the its appearance. I stared at the glossy reddish-orange eyes of the creature, not able to tear my eyes away from the reflection. Its hair...mane was dark brown, the same as the tail. The horse's coat was the same grey as before, but if looked at closely, it appeared to have just a tad bit of metallic blue mixed in. "Wha... what are you?", I asked the reflection. It said nothing. Tears started down the horse's face... my face, into the stream, becoming apart of it. I couldn't take it, the emotion's building up during my panic from before started to free itself. Any energy that I had was depleted, all I could do was cry. All I could do was stare at the rippled reflection, not moving, not making a sound but from the whimpers of my young voice. Somebody help me. Author's Note Welp, hoped you liked the introduction to this story. I appreciate any constructive criticism. :)
