I watched as she stared out of the small window at the rain pour down on the apple orchard. Her rainbow mane, damp from running to the small farmhouse from town. Her eyes were closed. She looked wispful, I knew what she was thinking. I was thinking the same. We were both nervous about tomorrow. Tomorrow would change everything. Even if it meant nothing tomorrow, in the future it might. It might alter my whole life, no, our lives.
"Rainbow. It ain't yer fault." I told her walking over to her, sitting down. Her eyes fluttered open. They were wet from nearly crying. Her hooves were shaking from fear of what could come. Her eyes darted everywhere and nowhere all at once.
"Applejack, what happens when he comes? What if he hates me? He kicked me out before, what if....what if he takes me away." Her voice trempled. Her father was coming to me, no us, meet tomorrow. Rainbow was afraid, because he kicked her out when she came out, that's why she went to Ponyville. Her father blamed her mother, who sided with Rainbow. But before they got to decide. Her mother died from an drunk pegasus. So her father turn on her. 4 days ago, Rainbow got a letter from her father. Stating that he was coming to see her. I snuggled closer to her. Her wings tickled my flank. Normally I would attack her with tickles, but tonight it didn't seem appropriate. Rainbow looked scared. A feature she normally never had. She was always either brave or denying the fact that she was frightened and pretending she wasn't. And she was my brave, beautiful, strong, and amazing pegasus.
"Ah don't think he could even if he tried." I told her. I meant it. Nopony could ever take her away from me. They would have to kill me, and shoot my dead body cold before they tried to take her. I wrapped a hoof over her back. A small smile formed on her mouth. But it quickly faded. I felt so bad. So….gulity. My family just went with me. Rainbow's……didn't. Even her aunt and uncle said she was a freak. She had nopony. I guess that's why she's loyal, so nopony has to experience the same pain she had. It amazed me. How much pain she went threw. But still she still survived. She always somehow managed to get away. She managed to lick her wounds clean.
"But would if-" she began. Her eyes looking sad and tired. Tears began to form. I hated seeing her like this. It broke my heart.
"Would if yer mom came back from the dead and slapped some sense into her Pa? 'Cause if she wouldn't I will" I said, an eye raised. Then I layed down next to her and looked up. She let out a small chuckle. But it soon disappeared. Her smile was all that I wanted. "It doesn't matter, after 15 years a bet he's wonderin' what a beautiful mare you've become." Rainbow blushed, which made her even more adorable. Her small athletic body, and strong wings, mixed with her short-temper, it made her just more cute. Of corse she blushed when ever I told her. Then she'd deny it. But I knew. I always knew. Even when I die I'll remember her.
"I guess you're right." She layed down on the rug next to me and cuddled close. She almost never did. "He doesn't matter. All I want is you." She whispered, her voice getting softer and softer. She let out a long lengthy yawn. "Wow, I was so sappy there." I gave a small laugh.
"Yeah, ya were." I chucked. She leaned against me. We both sharing each other's warmth.
"Goodnight, A.J." she whispered. Her eyes began to drop, then they closed. She drifted peaceful off to sleep. I snuggled closer and held her close.
"Goodnight, Dashie." I told her. I kissed her forhead and then I fell into a warm and fuzzy, deep sleep.
My opened my eyes to find sunlight shining threw the window. Rainbow Dash has her eyes opened, she was humming a small song which I didn't know. Her mane seemed like even more of a mess than normally. She propably didn't get much sleep. And to be honest, I didn't either. Rainbow blushed when she saw that I was awake.
"Hey," she said softly. Then she looked down. Her ears went back. "Today's the day." She whispered. I opened my mouth to reassure her. But she sighed.
"I can't believe I'm doing this." She whispered. I smiled. Trying to think of something to say to her. But I was cut off by a small knock on the front door. Rainbow flinched and let out a long sigh, I pull my hoof over her back and wings, and gave her a small reassuring squeeze. She gave out a long sigh.
"Okay, this do this. Alright, Dash?" I told her. She sighed and nodded, making her mane wave.
"Okay. My one shot. It's just like the Wonderbolts." She said shakily. "Be it fast, or do it last." She mumbled. She got up and went down stairs. I followed her, slowly, wanting her to stand up to her fears. She went to the front door. A silhouette of a stallion stared out of the small window it had in it. Rainbow lifted her hoof to the handle. And turned it. Letting the sunshine of the new day bathe her coat. Her wings puffed out as she turned the handle.
"Hello?" A voice asked. Rainbow's hooves shook. And she opened the door.
"Hello?" She asked the voice. And everything went slient.
