Fallen
Prologue
Load Full StoryDarkness. That's all Melody saw in the beginning. But she knew she felt warm, and she knew that somewhere in the pit of her stomach, something felt wrong. Somepony was watching her, and she didn't know who. Peeling her eyes open she flinched at the brightness of the lights, a purple haze close to her face. soon enough, her eyes began to focus, the purple haze gaining a pony shape, eventually becoming a clear picture. "Oh, good, you're finally awake. My name is Twilight Sparkle, and you're in my home. I saw you lying in the grass a few miles from here. Your wings are broken, so I assume you were flying, and then fell for some reason. Am I correct?" Melody only blinked at her, mouth hanging slightly open. "Uh. Can you speak?" It had finally registered in the pegasus' mind that a question had been asked of her. "Oh! Uh, y-yeah, s-sorry. Um. I, uh, don't really remember what happened. I... I'm kinda blanking on everything, really." Twilight's eyes widened, concern prominent on her face.
"Oh, that can't be good! I think I have a few books on concussions and amnesia, hold on!" She dashed out of the room, wings stretched out as she went. "Wings...? I thought I saw a horn... Aren't- Aren't there only two princesses?" Worry spread in Melody's chest, scared that whatever she had done had caused serious damage. Before long, Twilight came back with a stack of books held within her magic, a pair of glasses sitting on her snout. "Okay, first off, what's your name?" She demanded, eyes filled with a stern worry. "Uh... M-Melody Sketch." Twilight nodded, flipping through a book, scanning its contents. "Where do you live?" The pegasi wracked her brain, trying her hardest to remember. "Uh. I-I don't remember...." Twilight bit her lip, looking up at the other. "What's your special talent?" The question scared Melody, for she couldn't come up with an answer. Not having a special talent is like missing a part of yourself, and for the life of her; she couldn't remember what hers was.
"I-I... I don't remember..."

After what felt like ages, Twilight was finally done questioning the Pegasi, but it wasn't much of a relief. "I think we need to get you to a doctor. I think you have a really bad concussion." Thinking it over, the young mare stood with a nod, glancing around her surroundings for the first time. The room seemed to be made of crystal- something she hasn't ever heard of. "Hey, um... Are you a princess?" she asked, a chuckle escaping the princess' throat. "I am, but I would prefer it if you kept calling me Twilight." Twilight turned and began to walk out of the room, motioning for the other to follow her with her wing. The two walked out of the castle, making their way to the hospital in silence.
