//-------------------------------------------------------// You Are Never Alone, Promise Me That -by PSInfinite- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// You Are Never Alone, Promise Me That //-------------------------------------------------------// You Are Never Alone, Promise Me That It was a gloomy and showery night in Ponyville, where everypony was sound asleep around this time, positive about how their next day will turn out. Well, except for one housee with the lights remaining on due to a conversation going on between the residents of the household. "What was that? Can you please repeat that for me and your mother to hear?" A pegasus by the name of Rapid Current asked for his daughter Scootaloo to answer him. "That I still can't fly? But it's not my fault though, maybe I-" Scootaloo's words were cut off out of the blue by a hoof striking her across the face and sent her falling with a thud on the wooden floor. Scootaloo did the best of her ability to battle those tears as she slowly got up, and did what she could to stay strong. "What do you mean that you still can't fly?!?" Rapid Current roared out. "I- I still can't fly, my wings are not fully developed yet. You and mom know that!" "Don't you talk back to us young filly! Your father and I still cannot believe our only daughter is a pegasus who has yet to even fly!" Her mother, Soft Breeze barked back. "But I'm really trying! The problem is every time I start to flap my wings, the stupid things just buzz and I can barely just hover off the ground!" "Trying is not going to help you get anywhere into the sky! Whatever happened to your 'idol' Rainbow Dash? Does she not teach you?!" Rapid Current questioned. "Uh... She does whenever she gets the chance, but it's rare now since she's with the Wonderbolts and has to go on missions with her friends." "So there's nopony else. Absolutely nopony else to help you be like the other pegasi. Oh my Celestia, l can't believe that this is my daughter, a pegasus who will never fly. Why do I even bother?" Rapid said, losing faith in his daughter. Scootaloo started to become sick of how this fight was going nowhere, "Well I don't see you both making an effort to teach me anyways! I mean for Celestia's sakes, you two can fly! Shouldn't you be helping me on this?! Why can't you just get me prosthetic wings so I can actually fly instead of being stuck to the ground with these dumb wings! And here you go off on this pointless tangent instead of doing something to get me up into the sky! You don't know what it's like to be disabled, I swear you two are horrible par-" Her rant was halted by a hoof being slammed against the floor, creating a thundering vibration throughout the entire room. "You finish that sentence young filly, or there's going to be a load of Tartarus to pay!" Rapid boomed out. "I. Don't. Give. A flying feather by this point! You both are horrible parents who barely support me and have FOR SOME REASON, barely taught me how to fly and just expect somepony else to do the job for them?! If you were better parents I might even-" A hoof suddenly collided with her muzzle this time, causing blood to ooze out of her nose. "What did we say about talking back to us, you flightless brat?!?! You better watch your mouth and be VERY BUCKING grateful that we at least have a roof to shelter you under while your mother and I work our flanks off trying to make money for all of us!!!" "Well you know what? I don't care anymore! I still can't even fly and you two are to blame for this! SO BUCK THE BOTH OF YOU!!!" Scootaloo cursed out. "I see... Then maybe you don't need to be around us anymore! We won't miss you! You have done nothing significant except be a handicapped failure who was never going to take flight anyway! You know what?" Rapid then grabbed Scootaloo's neck with his teeth, dragged her to the front door, and violently tossed her outside into the vicious downpour of rain. "Go on then! Find somepony else to guide you! Oh wait, you're a cripple of course there's no hope for you! Have a useless life!" He last proclaimed before slamming the door shut. Scootaloo was speechless, her own parents just threw her out of their lives like a putrid sack of garbage forever all because of her disability. The young filly did her best to prevent those incoming emotions from overpowering her, but soon found herself succumbing to her massive tears. Due to the heavy thunderstorm Ponyville was having tonight, nopony was able to hear the intense cries of a filly in distress as they slept through the night. Without a place to stay, Scootaloo took off wandering around Ponyville and knocking on various doors in hopes of somepony answering them to hopefully offer her sanctuary until she was able to get back on her hooves. Unfortunately, nopony ever answered due to the roaring sound of precipitation and thunder taking place. Convinced that she would not be dwelling somewhere comfortable tonight, Scootaloo roamed around until she spotted a nearby alley to seek refuge within. It wasn't unsanitary or spotless, but it felt as an appropriate place to stay until morning when she could probably ask Rainbow Dash to lodge at her home. Luckily, there was a vacant cardboard box for poor Scootaloo as she entered her temporary haven and tried to drift off to sleep, but was assaulted by her intense emotions of sadness and began to sob once more. *** "Are you finished completing those files, Anonymous?" Asked Mayor Mare as she wanted nothing more than to retire into her rich, luxurious bed at home. "Yes, I am just about done. I'm apologize for making you wait, but I want out of here as much as you." Replied Anon, the human resident in Equestria who was warped to Ponyville unintentionally by Princess Twilight Sparkle a couple of months ago. At first, everything came off as a huge misunderstanding as many ponies mistook him for a monster, but eventually began to open up and make peace with the human. Princess Celestia and Princess Luna were soon informed of his appearance and arrived to meet Anon and granted him an royal welcome to the serene country of Equestria. He was given his own house in Ponyville and soon found himself a job working at Town Hall. "That's quite alright Anon. I mean work is important, but that never means that sleep is not, no?" Inquired Mayor Mare as she put on her rain coat. Likewise, Anon grabbed his trench coat "You're right, sleep is just important as work. You take care now and I will see you tomorrow Mayor." "Same here Anon, I will see you bright and ready." Said Mayor Mare as they both headed out and went separate paths to their respective homes. Anon began to head on home as the countless raindrops fiercely fell from the gloomy sky. "Jeez, Dash was never kidding about the showers tonight. But hey, at least I have sleep to reward me for today." Anon muttered as he continued walking. He was almost home, until he heard the sounds of somepony crying from the alley not far from him. "Hello? Is somepony in here?" Anon called out as he approached the alley and entered it as he heard the crying coming from the box a few feet from him. He walked over to it and knelt down seeing, a orange pegasus filly curled up into a sniveling mess. "Hey there little filly, what are you doing out here by yourself?" Scootaloo sniffed as she lifted her head to face Anon, her eyes red and puffy from her continuous waterworks. "A- Anon? Is that you?" As he faced the filly, Anon suddenly recognized who she was, "Wait a minute, Scootaloo?! Yes, it's me but the question is why are you crying outside in the rain? Come on, I'll take you home. Celestia knows how worried your parents must be as of now." At the very mention of her 'parents', Scootaloo then burst again into extreme tears, "Forget them! I'm a flightless failure to them now! They threw me out, I'm not their problem anymore! If they ever heard I died, they would never give any horseapples about it!" Scootaloo cried out. Anon's jaw nearly dropped at what Scootaloo told him. The fact that despite her problem with flying, they just a stamped their own daughter failure and abandoned her out in the world without the slightest regret. "Listen, why don't you come crash at my place until everything becomes better again okay?" Anon suggested. Scootaloo did not need to be asked twice, as she lunged at Anon's neck and hugged him. "Yes! Yes please! Thank you so much Anon!" Scootaloo exclaimed through her excessive tears. "Come on, I'll keep you warm." Anon said as he placed her inside his trenchcoat and headed towards his house. *** A few minutes later, Anon and Scootaloo arrived at Anon's home. He took Scootaloo out of his coat and hung it on a nearby rack. Anon decided to run a warm bath for Scootaloo, helped her wash up and dried her off afterwards. After she was clean, Anon took her to his guest room and placed the filly on the bed. "I know how difficult this must be for you, but make a effort to get sleep tonight, you deserve it after all for what you went through." Anon reassured. "But, are you sure that you're fine with letting me stay here? I don't want to be a burden to you! Maybe I should just go back outside and be a worthless loner that nopony wa-" Scootaloo was about to finish, but Anon raised his hand as he gave her a stern look. "Enough of that. No more saying that you are a failure. And ABSOLUTELY no more of saying that you are alone, and you understand why? You have many friends out there and a sister who will stay by your side no matter the circumstances. They will always be there to support and remind you that you mean everything to them, even if you can't fly. There is nothing to be ashamed of about you Scootaloo, you are remarkable to everypony who knows you. And if there's anypony who fails to see that, they are nothing but a coward who is jealous that they will never be on par with you. With what I have just told from the bottom of my heart, you are FAR from being deemed a failure nor on your own." Anon concluded his speech as he wrapped his arms around the pegasus and asked her for one last thing: "Just agree with me that from this day forward, with everypony in your life to accompany you to the very future: that you are never alone, promise me that." Anon asked, anticipating for the moment of truth. Scootaloo wondered over Anon's compelling words while in his arms, trying to determine if he was positive or not. Ultimately, she grasped the idea every word he said was as honest as Applejack's. 'Anon's right, I do have everypony I need to back me up whenever I'm dealing with troubles." She thought. "Yes... Yes! I promise that I'm not alone! I'm not even a failure! Just because I can't fly now doesn't mean that I can never fly! Thanks for helping me realize that Anon!" Scootaloo exclaimed as she hugged him again. "It's no problem kid." Anon replied. As the hugging continued, a warm feeling built inside Scootaloo; that Anon really seemed to care about her, and motivated her not to give up after those horrible ponies formerly known as her parents gave up on her. She began to see Anon as a being who was more than a friend, but a father figure to her. Anon picked her up and tucked her into bed. "Sweet dreams, Scootaloo." "Good night Dad-" Scootaloo suddenly froze as her eyes widened at what she just called Anon. "I'm so sorry! I meant to say Anon! Good night, Ano-" Scootaloo's correction was ended by a finger being placed on her muzzle as well as a shushing sound. Anon simply chuckled. "There's nothing wrong with who you see me as, it's perfectly alright. Now have a great sleep." He said as he was about to close the door on his way out, until... "Wait! I- if it's fine, can you be my new dad Anon?" Scootaloo hopefully asked. Anon couldn't believe it, a filly who he had just offered to take in for the meantime was asking him to become her father! He thought about it for a minute or two, but eventually made his final decision: "Yes. Yes Scootaloo. From this point forward, I'm your new dad." Anon announced. Scootaloo felt a tear of not despair, but joy run down her face as she now had a new dad in her life. "Thank you, Dad. Good night." "Good night Scoots." Anon last said before he closed the door, went into his room, and got into bed knowing that he now has a daughter to look after being single as he lived back Earth. Anon slowly drifted into a composed slumber knowing that everything was turning out tremendous with his new life in Equestria. Author's Note I hoped you all enjoyed this sad, but cute little oneshot of mine! Originally, SML Movie: Jeffy Goes to Equestria?! was supposed to be submitted first. But, I have had trouble getting that one online, so this I guess is my first story now huh? But aside from that, leave me honest but CONSTRUCTIVE criticism if there were issues to be fixed. See you all next time!
