The night was dark, and she shivers when cold wind touches her mane. Her skin was black, and hooves were full of holes. Suddenly, she sniffed some pleasant smells. As it turned out, the smell came from a young white colt with a blue mane. The princess of the changelings smiled at the thought of feasting on that pony today.
She hid under the shadow and changed her appearance to cover her identity. She quickly disguised herself. Since Chrysalis was a bit rushed she wasn't choosy in her appearance, so she wasn't aware of her new form having both a horn and wings. Her coat turn into a beautiful pink shade and her mane was now curly and multicolored.
Deciding to be seductive, she came out from her hiding spot to approach him. From her parents teachings, she knew prey had more love to give when they're seduced. “Hi, handsome.” she winked.
“Me?” The colt said. He turned his head to check if somepony else was there.
“Well of course.” Chrysalis smiled. “You know, you make me very hungry… for love!”
She was about to jump and take him down, as she was not sure how long she would have to talk to her prey before she had to eat it. Then he burst out laughing. The young Chrysalis stopped to look at him.
“What?!” She cried.
From her hunting lesson, even if she did not really take the time to pay attention on them, she knew that it was not an appropriate reaction for a prey to have when facing a frightening changeling in a dark alley.
He ignored her and was about to leave when she stood in his way.
“You won’t leave me here. I want to make love with you!” She hissed. She sounded a lot more menacing than she meant to. Again, her scary tone doesn’t make the right impact.
That colt only blushed at her statement, giggling a bit. “Do you even know, what you just said to me?” He asked. He raised his hoof and pointed at her chest.
To be honest, her lines were pulled straight from one of her books, and it was not clear to her what they meant. But that book said that it was very effective. The same book, however, also stated that this worked best in the bedroom. Weird. Why? The kitchen could be way better, since she really could use a plate and table. She never liked to eat in a bed.
There was also one more problem. How exactly was she supposed to eat that guy, anyway? The only thing she knew was that changelings eat love. She had never hunted before; as a kid, her meal was always given to her in the hive.
“You are more innocent then you try to be, huh? Changeling?” He said as he raised his eyebrow with a smirk.
“Yeah… Wait, I’m not a changeling!” She blushed and began to panic.
“Of course you’re not. Just like I am not a stallion.”
He was clearly being sarcastic, yet she leaned her head to look between his legs.
“Hey! Mind your business, changeling!” He said, taking offense to where she had just looked.
She backed off when he screamed at her. She asked him, “What even gave it away?”
The stallion raised his eyebrow again, looking at her as if she was an idiot. She suddenly felt like she was one.
“Changeling, you are new to this, aren't you?” He asked.
“You know, it’s rude of you to call me ‘changeling’. I don’t call you ‘prey’. My name is Princess Chrysalis”. She huffed and give him her hoof, expecting him to kiss it just as all the changeling drones do every time she enters the room. At the very least, she expected him to bow to her.
Yet again his reaction did not match her expectations when he said,“I really don’t care what your name is.” His voice was dripping with annoyance. “Why do I even talk to you? You are lucky I haven't reported you yet.” He then turned his back to her.
Curiosity won over rationality as Chrysalis asked, “So, what is your name?” She was not quite as scared of her new acquaintance as she thought she would be.
When he ignored her, she redoubled her efforts to garner his attention once more. She refused to give up. “What do you like?” She asked cheerfully. Again, silence was all she got in return. “Do you have a favorite food, perhaps?”
Silence.
“Color?”
After few minutes of the one-sided exchange, as she continued trying to get information out of him, he suddenly stopped. “Shut up, already!” He shouted. Angry, he clapped his fore hooves on the ground, causing her to back off a bit.
“Why do you even go after me!?”
Chrysalis was about to say that the honor and pride of a princess was what was preventing her from going back to the hive without her prey, but in the back of her mind she knew that this wasn’t the truth.
Instead, she blushed, whispering, “I’m sorry”. Tucking her tail between her legs, Her ears drooped and tears flew freely down her eyes. Her first hunt, and it ended up in a complete and utter disaster.
Seeing as it was now pointless to maintain her false image, she changed back to her natural look and flapped her wings, readying herself to fly away. Just as she was about to lift off, his voice stopped her.
He was no longer angry or annoyed. He took her hoof to his muzzle and kissed it. “My name is Shining Armor, princess. It was pleasure to meet you.”
Chrysalis blinked and her jaw dropped. Suddenly she felt huge wave of energy that overcome her whole body. She knew that feeling well. It was love, but something about it was different this time. It was fresh, sweet, and pleasant. All of her previous meals paled in comparison.
Shining Armor smiled at her and said, “If you ever want to, I would be happy to accompany you again.”
The young princess was speechless as she smiled back to him. “Bye!” She yelled excitedly, perhaps a bit louder than she needed to as she flew away.
When she returned to the hive, Chrysalis went straight into her room. That night was so magical, and she was enchanted by his eyes. You could say that the hunter became the prey that night.
She looked at her shelf where she had left her book with hunting tips. Its title read 'How To Hunt?', and it depicted a changeling princess on the cover.
“When I find you again, Shining Armor, I will become the best queen of them all!” She thought to herself as she blushed.
