The sun hangs low in the sky, dusk has begun across the land, it won't be long till night comes, few would risk traveling through the forest at this hour without the proper equipment. But this is where we find two of our heroes, unsure of how far the village is, and completely unprepared to stay the night in the forest.

"Twilight I told you we should've stayed in Andorhal until morning." A small purple dragon-kin with green spikes for hair whines to his taller companion, he is wearing a simple green cloth shirt, with a pair of padded pants, he carries a large pack on his back, several scrolls can be seen poking out of it. The young dragon boy's female companion turns back to look at him, she has dark purple hair with a few lighter colored streaks, her hair reaches down past her shoulders. She wears a dark purple robe with a sparkle symbol embroidered on the sleeves and gown, a pair of round glasses rests on the bridge of her nose, her pack is much smaller then the boys, she also has a holster on her side, with a wand and a book visible.

"Spike if we want to make a name for ourselves as adventurers then we have to get to work as quickly as possible." Twilight says matter of factly, after she speaks she pushes her glasses back up her nose. "As adventurers we must never relent, always moving, always looking for the next challenge.... at least that's what my books say."

"But Twilight we only graduated from the mage academy two days ago." Spike takes a minute to fantasize about the care free days at the mage academy in Camelot, after a minute he snaps himself out of his nostalgia. "Why did we leave both Camelot and Andorhal to go adventuring? their the two largest cities on the continent."

"Because Spike, there is one place that gets even more quest info then Camelot and Andorhal." Twilight says confidently as she continues walking down the road, Spike adjusts his pack before following after her.

"And that's Ponyville?" Spike asks with a raised eyebrow, Twilight nods.

"Yep Ponyville may just be a small rural village but it's actually in the perfect position to get quests from all over Equestria." Twilight says confidently and a bit smug.

"Well that's great and all Twilight but uh... we are going to get there before night fall right?" Spike looks around nervously, the land and the sky are getting darker, and Spike's imagination is starting to run wild.

"I'm about thirty eight percent sure we'll make it their in time." Twilight says nonchalantly, Spikes eyes go wide.

"W-wait what!?" Spike yells. "But we didn't bring a tent or anything! we can't spend the night out here!"

"Well we would have had plenty of time if you hadn't spent so much time complaining, now pick up the pace." Twilight says boss-fully, Spike hangs his head and sighs heavily.

"Yes Twilight." Spike adjusts the heavy pack one more time before hurrying after his friend.

After a few more minutes of walking Twilight suddenly stops, Spike doesn't notice and walks right into her, being quite strong despite his size he nearly bumps Twilight over, she quickly regains her balance and glances off into the forest. She just stands there leaving Spike nothing to do but stare at her, after a minute Spike decides to end the silence.

"Everything o-" Before Spike can finish his question Twilight suddenly pulls him close and throws up a glowing wall to their side, Spike watches as an arrow grazes the top of the barrier Twilight created, Twilight and Spike look in the direction the arrow came from as a figure jumps down a tree and immediately dashes toward the duo with dual swords drawn, Twilight waves her hand and the wall she created forms spikes, she pushes the air which sends the spiked wall to meet their mysterious attacker. The figure jumps into the air and places their hand on the top of the wall, they pole-vault over the wall, and soar through the air and land on the ground behind the travelers, Twilight pulls out her wand and Spike extends the claws on his right hand, they both flip around to face their foe, and are immediately dumbstruck by what they see. The mysterious figure, who they can now tell is a person in a black cloak, stands near the bodies of three dead wolves, two have been stabbed in the neck while the third has an arrow lodged in its skull. The cloaked figure turns around and removes the hood that has been covering their face, revealing a young rainbow haired woman, her hair hangs loose directly above her shoulders, her eyes, which are a deep magenta, scan the two in front of her.

"Y'know most people I save thank me, not draw their weapons on me." The rainbow haired stranger says jokingly, the two travelers both look at each other and shrug before putting away their 'weapons'.

"Um who are you?" Twilight asks as the stranger approaches them, her weapons sheathed.

"Still not hearing a thank you." The stranger says while she crosses her arms.

"T-thank you for saving us miss." Spike says while looking at their savior in awe.

"Yes thank you, I'm embarrassed to say I was unaware of those wolves." Twilight says looking away out of shame.

"Naw that part is my fault, if I hadn't made some noise you wouldn't have noticed I was there." The stranger gives Twilight a wink of approval. "You would've noticed them for sure."

"Oh thank you for saying so." Twilight says feeling some of her pride coming back.

"No prob." The stranger spits onto the ground before extending a hand to Twilight. "I'm Rainbow Dash, it's nice to meet ya."

"Oh uh I'm Twilight Sparkle and this is Spike." Twilight says with a gesture toward Spike. "It is a pleasure to meet you Rainbow Dash."

"Nice to meet ya Twi." Rainbow dash says with a big smile, Twilight looks at Rainbow Dash in confusion.

"Light." Twilight punctuates the word as if shes trying to finish Rainbow Dash's sentence for her, Rainbow Dash looks up at the setting sun.

"You're right there isn't a lot of light left we need to get moving." Rainbow Dash begins walking down the road the two had been traveling down. She doesn't make it very far before looking back at the three wolf corpses, she walks back over to them and yanks her arrow out of the wolf. After returning her arrow to her quiver she stares down at the wolves.

"Everything okay Rainbow Dash?" Spike asks while walking over to her.

"I'm gonna take these wolves." Rainbow Dash says as she begins taking off her cloak.

"Wait what?" Twilight asks as she approaches the wolves, she takes a moment to look at Rainbow Dash's equipment, she wears a cyan blue shirt underneath a vest of studded leather armor, her cloth pants are tight to her body but visibly loose enough to provide free moment they are also a slightly darker shade of blue then the vest, a belt is wrapped around her waist with two short swords resting in their sheaths on her backside, while a small pouch rests on her hip.

"I'm taking these wolves to town with me." Rainbow Dash says as she lays her cloak out on the ground, she makes sure the cloak is flat, then she walks over and picks up one of the wolves and places it on her cloak.

"Why are you taking them?" Twilight asks as she watches Rainbow Dash collect the second wolf.

"Because, Egghead." Rainbow Dash places the second wolf down and turns around for the third. "I can use these guys for stuff."

"How so?" Twilight asks curiously, Rainbow Dash places the third wolf on top of the other two.

"Well food obviously." Rainbow Dash says as she rummages through the pouch on her side, after a second she pulls a small bundle of rope from the pouch. "And if I don't eat them them at least I can sell the meat to a butcher, I could make some gold from the pelt if I find a tailor or something. Pretty much every part of these things is useful to someone."

"What about the bones?" Twilight asks curiously, Rainbow Dash folds her cloak over the wolves and starts tying them up with the rope.

"I don't usually find the weirdos that want those." Rainbow says as she finishes tying the cloak into a makeshift sack, the knots are tight but the folding of the cloak is all wrinkly and lopsided. She picks up her cloak and uses some of the rope as arm holes so she can carry it like a backpack. "But if you do they pay pretty good money for them."

"It's impressive how you know all that." Twilight says sincerely. "You must be quite the adventurer."

"Heh heh." Rainbow Dash laughs nervously, she turns to face Twilight and is wearing a nervous smile to match her laugh. "Actually this is my first day."

"W-what really?" Twilight blurts out with wide eyes. Spike gets a big smile on his face.

"That's awesome it's our first day too." Spike exclaims excitedly. "Where are you headed? we're going to Ponyville."

"Really?" Rainbow Dash adjusts her wolf sack so it rests on her back easier."That's where I'm heading to."

"Oh that's awesome can you help us get there." Spike asks with a big grin.

"Spike we don't need help finding the village, I know exactly where we are." Twilight holds up her map for emphasis.

"But doesn't it make sense for the three of us to go together sense we're going to the same place?" Spike asks bluntly. Twilight just blinks unable to think of a retort. Rainbow looks at the two purple people, after a moment she sighs impatiently.

"Can we just go already it's going to be dark in like ten minutes." After speaking Rainbow Dash flips around and starts walking down the road, Twilight and Spike look at each other, they nod in agreement, they both hurry down the road after their new Rainbow haired companion.

Twenty Minutes Later

"So Rainbow Dash why are you headed for Ponyville?" Spike asks as he steps over a fallen log. The forest was almost pitch black, a few strands of moonlight broke through the think canopy, other then that the only light came from a small ball of energy Twilight had conjured. Rainbow Dash looks over her shoulder at the small dragon-kin.

"I think it's the best place to set up base." Rainbow Dash says with a shrug, Spike smiles brightly.

"Hey that's the same reason me and Twilight are headed there, right Twilight?" Spike grins confidently at his Elfin friend, Twilight gives a small smile in return.

"Yes after weeks of going over the different statistics for every city and village, including quest postings from both in and out of town, while also looking at which city or village had an efficient proximity to all other cities and villages." Twilight pushes her glasses back up her nose for emphasis. "It was quite obvious that the often overlooked village of Ponyville was the best place to set up our adventuring operation. Most people play it safe and stay near the big cities or join the guild in Camelot, but we want to see the world and working out of Ponyville is the best option."

"Wow you're amazing Twilight." Spike says with sparkles in his eyes, Twilight gives him a dismissive wave of her hand.

"Nonsense Spike anyone could figure that out if they really looked at all the data." Despite her words Twilight still looks very pleased with herself.

"So Rainbow Dash why did you decide to go to Ponyville?" Spike asks as he steps around a stump, Rainbow Dash shrugs.

"I looked at a map." Rainbow Dash says nonchalantly, Twilight pleased look diminishes a little.

"What do you mean?" Twilight asks a little confused.

"Well I want to see the world like you guys so I just picked the place that looked like the most middle of the country, and Ponyville was the most middle of them all." Rainbow Dash says simply, upon hearing this Twilight hangs her head and mumbles something about wasted time, after a minute of self loathing Twilight decides to embrace her inner child.

"Are we almost there?" Twilight whines.

"How should I know." Rainbow Dash shrugs in annoyance. "You're the one with the map."

"Wait." Twilight and Spike both come to a stop. "You don't know where your going?"

"Huh?" Rainbow Dash stops and turns to face the others. "Of course I don't, I've never been there before."

"Then why have you been leading us for the past half hour?" Twilight shout questions Rainbow Dash.

"You had the map, I thought you'd tell me if I was going the wrong way." Rainbow Dash retorts.

"Um guys." Spike says nervously.

"Why would I navigate? I thought you knew where you were going!"

"Guys."

"Well I didn't. guess you ain't so smart after all, huh Egghead?"

"Guys!"

"Well at least I have some brains, unlike a certain Rainbow haired buffoon."

"You wanna go Missy?"

"I do indeed."

"Alright let's g-"

"GUYS!" Twilight and Rainbow Dash turn to look at Spike,

"WHAT!" They both shout in unison, Spike doesn't seem to notice their shouting as his eyes are focused on something past them.

"W-who's that?" Spike asks as he puts a quivering finger behind the two arguing women.

"Huh?" Rainbow Dash and Twilight turn around to see what Spike is pointing at, their eyes go wide, standing just outside the bubble of light created by Twilight's magic is a small cloaked figure, the only thing visible of the figure is its irises, one a blood red crimson, the other a shimmering teal.

"Um w-who are-" Twilight is cut short as the mysterious figure starts grinning revealing their teeth, this causes Spike to grab hold of Twilight's hand out of fear, Twilight doesn't mind Spikes hold she's too busy looking at the figure in front of her. she notices that one of its teeth is slightly longer then the others and is pointy. Rainbow Dash takes a step toward the figure.

"Alright who are you and what do you want?" Rainbow Dash asks while trying to be intimidating, the figure focuses their attention on Rainbow Dash, the figures grin grows wider, they hold their right hand out to Rainbow Dash, Rainbow Dash reaches out and takes the small figures hand. The figure turns their attention to Twilight and Spike and holds out their left hand to the purple duo, despite Spikes resistance Twilight takes the few steps needed to reach the small figure, she looks at the hand being offered to her,she turns to Rainbow Dash looking for some guidance, she only shrugs, turning back to the figure Twilight nervously reaches out and takes the figures hand in her own.

"AH!" The trio all scream as a searing pain shoots through their bodies, before any of them can react the world goes pitch black as they lose consciousness.

???????????????????????

"Hey.... Hey Egghead wake up." Twilight groans at the sound of Rainbow Dash's voice, she rolls over in her bed... only to find her comfy bed has been replaced with dirt and grass, also that Rainbow Dash some how broke into her dorm room, her eyes fly open as she remembers what just happened in the forest.

"W-what's going on, where am I?" Twilight sits up and flings her face from side to side trying to see where she is... she finds that the lampposts around down make it a lot easier to see whats going on around her then her little energy ball did.... give her a minute.... "Wait where are we?"

"I think we're in Ponyville." Rainbow Dash says as she offers Twilight a hand getting up.

"How did we get here?" Twilight takes Rainbow Dash's hand and quickly stands up.

"I think that person took us here." Twilight turns and sighs in relieve to see her little Dragon-kin is ok and also the one who spoke.

"Not sure if we should be grateful or not." Rainbow Dash flexes the muscles in the hand she touched the figure with. "That hurt like hell."

"Well I'll take some pain over being lost in a dark forest." Spike says with a chuckle, the other two reluctantly agree.

"Well I don't know about you guys but I'm bushed." Rainbow Dash yawns loudly. "Hey Egghead know where I can catch some Zzz's?"

"Well Rainbow Dash the best place to catch some Zzz's as you put it is the only place to catch them." Twilight points across town to a large structure with a sign they can't read from this far away. "The Sweet Apple."

Behold the first chapter of my new fanfiction, what do think of it so far?

It's going to mostly be one shots, but the first four chapters will be a story arc about the party getting together. I will be using a lot of monsters and things from D&D so if you ever get confused just ask and I will try to find a good link or picture to help you understand what something is.
