Sunset Shimmer gulped a little as she stared at the statue in front of Canterlot High. To any passerby, it was simply a regular statue that time had not been kind to, with the upper half seemingly knocked off in some way. To Sunset, however, it was a magical portal to another world, the world she came from, and which she had no intention of ever going back to. Until then.
She looked down at the sun-adorned diary that she held coddled into her chest. She lifted it up to her face and flipped through the pages, until she found the one that was most relevant to her.
Sunset Shimmer,
It’s been a long time since the two of us have spoken. Princess Twilight has offered to lend the journal to me, in the hopes that the two of us may rekindle the relationship that we once had. I hereby invite you to return to Canterlot Castle, if at all possible, so that we can 'catch up', as it were, in person.
~Princess Celestia
The message had been sent over a week ago, and Sunset had made no effort to reply. Even now she was shocked that Celestia wanted anything to do with her, especially since the last time she was in Equestria she had stolen the Element of Magic, and the time before that was when she and Celestia had the big fallout that had landed her on this world in the aftermath. And, truth be told, she wasn't entirely sure she was ready to confront Celestia again after all this time. Ultimately, however, she had decided to go through with it, if only for the closure herself.
Sunset felt a small hand on her shoulder. She turned around to see Twilight Sparkle—the version from this world, not the one from Equestria—, a smile on her face. "You're still worried, aren't you?"
"A little, yeah."
