Mission 1: Manehattan Madness part 2

Mission 1: Lone guardian

After witnessing the death of two unfortunate G.I.s, Cadance continued on onto the city. Noticing that the next para-drop of Soviet troops is getting near, Cadance and the G.Is positioned them on the parking lot, preparing themselves for the arrival of their unwanted guests. As the Soviet Ponies came closer to the ground, Cadance and her squad of troops opened fire, releasing a hail of bullets aimed at the unfortunate Conscripts’ heads and torsos.

As the corpses of the dead ponies dropped onto the ground, Cadance got an order from The Commander through her earpiece, “Cadance,” The Commander started, ”Go to the far north-eastern end of the city, you can find a few friends of mine to help you.” Cadance replied, “Roger, that commander”, with some enthusiasm in her voice. She navigated through the urban jungle until she found herself near the north-eastern boundary of Manehattan. And sure enough she found three Grizzly tanks waiting for her orders; they made their way southbound towards the Fort, when they made it there they were greeted by other G.Is, desperately waiting for orders. Cadance told them to guard the parking lot with the others. Just then a tank commander got out of his tank and went up to Cadance, “I was the one who activated the EMP, just so you know. Same thing happened in Long Isle, everypony was mind controlled; we apparently were listening to some heavy metal when the message hit and we weren’t affected, we escaped the next day.” Cadance just nodded and thanked them for the assist.

As Cadance assessed her supplies and remembered that she was out of explosive charges, she asked one of the guards if they got any sticks of dynamite lying around. They were out but when the get their barracks set up they would receive a supply of ammo and explosives via chrono shift, Cadance had no choice but to help finish the barracks. Brick by brick the barracks came together and sure enough when the barracks was finished the first shipment of supplies, Cadance was surprised at how many bundles of TNT the commander sent them, there was also a teleporter to send in G.Is and other infantry. The ‘Troop Teleporter’ as they called it whirred to life, taking Cadance by surprise, when an engineer came out, “Where’s the bridge?” he asked, Cadance pointed a hoof to the repair hut south of the fort, and the unicorn engineer trotted towards the repair hut.

Inside he found a panel and the schematics for the broken bridge up ahead, meanwhile Cadance received her next set of instructions, “Cadance,” the still-unnamed commander said, “You must destroy the Soviet Supply base at the other side of the bridge that engineer is currently repairing. Like my surprise? Those three tanks would be very useful, don’t you think? When the base is destroyed radio in, we will send in a transport to fetch you. Don’t forget, the in-flight movies are really AWESOME!” Cadance grunted when she heard the commander say ‘awesome’ but ignored the thought as she started trotting behind the tanks as they made their way across the repaired bridge.

On the other side of the bridge, the three tanks started discharging their payload, explosions everywhere, ponies bravely standing up to them only to be squished by the iron tracks of the Grizzlies, Tan- I mean Cadance on the other hand was getting into the buildings and setting the charges, and blowing them up as she got out, and thanks to the shipment of explosives she received, she can now freely waste her charges on the thicker buildings and not plan out where the weakest point was. And it came to the last one, the Tesla reactor. The other tanks were still busy dealing with the remaining conscripts so Cadance decided to help them out and let them take out the last building. With her next shot, the last remaining conscript dropped dead on the pavement, “Why don’t you have the honor of taking out the last building since you took out most of the defenses?” she said, the tank commander popped his head out and gave Cadance a stern nod, they got to their tanks and drove towards the last building and fired, the reactor exploded leaving a mushroom cloud where it once stood.

Cadance radioed in the victory and about five minutes later, a night-hawk transport came in and gave Cadance one of the most surprising moments of her wartime career, “Hello Cadance,” the commander said, “it’s nice to finally meet you, I’m Commander Dash by the way, Commander RAINBOW Dash…”
