So much can happen in a few minutes, to everyone else, it's just a few minutes nothing special, but to me those few minutes were a lifetime... it started when Radiant Hope brought out the crystal heart from her bag, she handed it to me saying, it was the lock that kept the umbra imprisoned, and that smashing it will free the umbra forever... Okay, she didn't say that last part fully since Rabia finished what she was going to say, and a part of me wondered if Hope would have finished her sentence.
As I held the crystal heart everything around me didn't seem to matter, I barely even reacted when the main six and her friends went down, my focus was on the heart. But I did hear Rabia ask me what I was doing, I answered, saying I was remembering the first time I looked into it, for it was true, I was remembering it, I remember being scared at the every sight of myself. I was just a foal, but I was seeing my destiny, my true self, my fate... am I trying to convince myself?
My mind went back to Hope and what she said to me earlier, that she had a choice between her destiny and myself and she chose me, she even said she never believed in destiny. How can no one believe in destiny? That was like if no one believed in their special talent or even their cutie mark, but it was what got my head started on this path. I had no idea how long I was thinking this, but I finished my answer to Rabia, that looking into the crystal heart was the first time I saw myself as a monster.
Monster that's what I was, King Sombra, ruler of the umbra, am a monster from my red curved horn, to my red and green eyes. I wasn't always like this, my thoughts went back before I saw myself, I was a happy unicorn with a best friend who was just as different as myself, and now? Now I barely recognized myself, was this really what I wanted? Of course, Rabia asked what did I see now, my thoughts stopped in that moment as did everything else, as if the world itself was frozen.
What did I see, did I see a proud king who is going to rule this kingdom? Did I see a dark unicorn who is going to destroy the last hope of the crystal empire? No, I didn't see any of this, I just saw one thing and that one thing is, "Just me, just my reflection." Of course, Rabia said maybe it didn't work if it wasn't powered up, but my head knew that wasn't true and finally my heart knew it was well, "No, I think it's working fine... Hope?" I said as I looked at her.
"Yes, Sombra?" With one flick of my magic I sent the heart flying to the location, I chose, "Thank you." And everyone was surprised when the heart landed back on the dais, and not smashing it like the umbra wanted, they asked me what I was doing, "Making my own Destiny." The heart activated sending all the umbra back to where they came from it felt... good, yes that's the word, I even thanked Hope for believing in me, even when I didn't believe in myself.
We had our moment even as I was disappearing, the princess was being released and everything was going back to the way it was supposed to be. I asked hope to never run away again and do good in the world, her answer was I will, I was fading into the light but I finally got my wish, I got to see the crystal fair I even told hope what I was thinking when she asked, "It's more beautiful than I ever imagined." If this was to be the last thing I saw then I was glad it was her.
Then I faded it was strange that I felt peaceful but I did, I took what I got until Hope started to use her magic on me, I asked her what she was doing, she was trying to help me, I told her that she can't do it on her own she'll hurt herself, but then she wasn't alone. I couldn't understand why the other four were helping me, I asked them why, they each gave me a reason and I didn't feel like I deserved it, but if they chose it then fine, with one bright flash, I was standing in one piece again.
I couldn't believe it, I was back I felt myself as I asked if I was really here, Hope calling me and hugging me told me I was, she saved me. She had some help but she brought me back, I was grateful and expressed it to everyone, I was different and it was the time I forgave someone as well... Princess Amore, I didn't kill her just shattered her statue. If we rebuilt her then I think we can bring her back, and when that happened I will ask for her forgiveness and tell her, she was right.
She was right about everything, it was my choice, my destiny, and I choose wrong at first I let my fear become real, but now I'm a changed pony. I even looked different, I could tell by all the surprised looks, I even took a quick glance in the closest thing that held my reflection, the crystal heart. I saw a gray unicorn with a black main and tail, green eyes, and I was still wearing a crown, cape, and armor, but now it was more light... I smiled just a little, I am Sombra but I'm not a monster anymore.
