Sweetie Belle was upstairs in her room while Rarity was out shopping. Sweetie Belle didn't want to be dragged along so Rarity let her stay there. Sweetie Belle just sat there thinking about when she would get her cutie mark and other things. She wondered how her friends were doing.
While she thought of her friends she wondered about Rarity's friends. Did they consider her a friend or just as Rarity's little sister. Sweetie Belle frowned. This has never bothered her before but now thinking about it she worried that alls she was to Twilight was some annoying filly who was Rarity's sister.
She wished that she could be known as something else to Rarity's friends as she liked all of Rarity's friends. She continued to ponder about Twilight while sitting back on her bed. She did ponder on the times that Twilight had helped her with some stuff but that was it. She had no other recollection of Twilight being nice to her.
She hoped that Twilight didn't look down on her for being a little filly. She hoped that Twilight would still think of her as a friend even though she was young. She worried that the only reason Twilight acted nice to her was because she was Rarity's sister. Sweetie Belle wanted more though. She wanted to hang out with Twilight or talk to her.
She worried that it would seem weird befriending Twilight since Twilight was a grown up mare and she didn't have time to socialize with her. Sweetie tried to remember anything else that Twilight did for her. Sweetie Belle couldn't even think of Twilight coming to her birthday.
She then thought that one over. Maybe Twilight didn't go because she didn't send her an invitation but she was unsure. She became saddened by the possibility Twilight couldn't stand her. She thought for a moment and then an idea came to her mind. She wanted a talk with Twilight alone to find out if Twilight liked her.
She thought about this possible talk. She was afraid that if she asked to talk to Twilight Twilight would refuse or allow Sweetie Belle to talk but then laugh off her feelings. She then felt conflicted about that thought as Twilight didn't seem like to be a pony to laugh at somepony's feelings as Twilight was just to nice to do that.
She also had the fear that Twilight would be to busy to talk with her. She just wanted to connect with Twilight and be friends with her. There was no reason that she shouldn't be. She also wondered about what Rarity would think. She hoped that Rarity would understand her talking to Twilight.
She wondered about her own feelings about Twilight. Twilight was helpful and She didn't hate Twilight. This felt crucial to her if she wanted to talk to Twilight more. Twilight was supportive of the Cutie Mark Crusaders although sometimes she got annoyed when they all got into some sort of trouble but overall she didn't think of them as nuisances.
She wondered when Rarity would get back as she wanted to ask Rarity for she could talk to Twilight. Soon Rarity got back. She could not wait anymore and she spoke to Rarity to see if she would allow her to see Twilight
"Rarity? Can I go see Twilight? I want to hang out with her." Sweetie Belle said. Rarity nodded.
"Of coarse you can. I'm not stopping you. Be back by supper though." Rarity said. Sweetie Belle thanked Rarity and was out of Carousal Boutique in mere seconds. She then walked to Twilights. As she walked to the library she wondered on what to say to Twilight. Would Twilight even allow her to come in? Soon she got there and went up to the door.
She felt nervous so she took a few deep breaths and knocked on the door. The door was then unlocked and it was opened by Twilight. Twilight smiled and spoke.
"Hello Sweetie Belle! What brings you here?" Twilight asked. Sweetie Belle gulped and spoke.
"Twilight I need to talk to you." Sweetie Belle said. Twilight nodded and opened stepped aside to allow her to come in.
"Cmon in! Would you like something to drink?" Twilight asked. Sweetie Belle thought about the question and figured out she wasn't thirsty.
"No I'm fine." Sweetie Belle said. Twilight closed her door and sat down on a couch. She patted the seat next to her.
"Sit by me. Just say what's on your mind. I'll listen." Twilight asked. Sweetie Belle was shocked at Twilight nice behavior as she thought that Twilight would have been annoyed but she didn't see any annoyed features in Twilights face or body language. Twilight didn't seem impatient.
Sweetie Belle sat by Twilight and they both looked at each other. Sweetie Belle was so nervous. She didn't know what to say. Twilight spoke to get the conversation going hoping to have Sweetie Belle tell her what she needed.
"Just..say what your thinking Sweetie Belle." Twilight said gently. Sweetie Belle took a deep breath and just explained her feelings.
"Twilight...I've been with you several times and your friends with my sister. You've helped me with several projects but we never hang out or have a one on one....conversation. You know what I mean? I feel like your....I feel like your just doing those things just to get in good with Rarity and you don't care about me." Sweetie Belle said as she looked at Twilight. Twilight listened politely.
"Why won't you hang out and be friends with me? I like you Twilight I really do but it's difficult to be somepony's friend when they don't express interest in hanging out with you or anything. I need to know if you think I'm a friend and that you want to hang out with me. Can we be friends?" Sweetie Belle explained. Sweetie Belle waited for a Twilight to respond.
Sweetie Belle feared that Twilight would shrug off her feelings or scoff at her. Instead Twilight pulled Sweetie Belle into a hug. Sweetie Belle went wide eyed as she felt happiness come over her. Twilight spoke.
"Oh Sweetie Belle. I'm sorry that I have been ignoring you. I didn't know you felt that way. Of coarse we can be friends. I'm sorry that I don't hang out with you or if you think you annoy me. You don't annoy me. I'll talk to you more. I'm just worried that you would be bored by me. What exactly would you want to do?" Twilight asked.
"Just talk to eachother! Goto eachothers birthdays and hang out while being there for eachother." Sweetie Belle said. Twilight giggled and released her from the hug and spoke.
"Sure we can do that! If you want to have sleepovers at my place and talk to me or anything else then that's fine. You seem to not mind Spike so you can do that. I would love to hang out with you more. I'll go to your birthday to." Twilight asked. Sweetie Belle was very happy at this.
"Thank you Twilight. I'll go to your birthday as well. I'm glad you listened to me. I was afraid that you wouldn't. I hope I didn't bother you." Sweetie Belle said.
"Your welcome Sweetie Belle. You didn't bother me. I'm happy that you spoke your feelings. Well hang out more I promise. And I can take you to parks or wherever." Twilight asked. Sweetie Belle smiled. And from that time on they did stuff together more often and both Twilight and Sweetie Belle were happy from this. Sweetie Belle went home and talked to Rarity about it.
Rarity was happy for her and she talked to Twilight about it. Rarity said that she wouldn't mind Sweetie Belle hanging out with Twilight.
