Chapters As Inkie trotted home, something caught her eye. As it was late, the only ponies up were the 24/7 markets and businesses. But Inkie was used to being up late when the rock farm needed extra help at night. Pinkie always slept early though.....while in her thoughts, she remembered something big was coming up, and looked up at the sky. A giant...rainbow of sort flew over the land, puffing up Inkie's newly dyed hair.
Was...was this meant...for me? she asked herself as she noticed her hair looked like Pinkie's when she left. A big grin appeared on her face. So my dream IS coming true! She beamed even wider. She would be like her favorite sister, but still be her own person. As she admired her poofy, yellow hair, she remembered that she should start heading to Ponyville after all this progress she suddenly made. So, she picked up her Bits Pouch, and walked over to the train conductor to ask for a ticket. Soon, she would be reunited with her sister, and they would all be happy again! And they'll party and she'll get to meet new friends and....she was so excited that a worried conductor reminded her that she had to breath.
Inkie had a few days to pack up, but she didn't have much. A pretty accurate Pinkie Pie doll that she made by herself, a suit case, and her bits was all she thought she needed. So, she continued with her life goal. Being the most similar pony to Pinkie..... Her sister was her idol. She used to paint her self pink as a tiny foal, but realized she should be her own person, yet very similar to Pinkie. Any less similar she would be mad. So, she dyed herself in bright colors. She can't change her eye color, though. It wasn't very matching, but still very pretty. Her purple eyes weren't as dull after that unusual rainbow. It was actually very bright. She knew she had to make a new name, too. Then she could surprise Pinkie by telling her who she was! She would be so happy!
Surprise
That sounded perfect. Surprise sounded so perfect. That was what it should be. Not only did it tell what she was going to tell Pinkie, but now it would even fit her new personality! It was settled, then. Inkie would now be known as Surprise the Pegasus, party planning perfectly. I guess that would be a good motto... she wondered. With all that done, she thought she needed a good night's sleep.
Pinkie got up from bed. She was woken up by her Pinkie senses. But, she knew, they were always right. And this one called for going outside. Before she left her bed room, she checked her clock. 3:41 . As she trotted down the stairs, she wondered what it could be. When she finally got outside without waking any pony up, she looked up. A....SONIC RAINBOOM!? she thought. It was. A sonic rainboom flew across Ponyville and many other cities and towns. That really poofed up Pinkie's mane. Now it was the poofiest. As she excitedly bounced inside, she got a glass of water. She bounced up the stairs and into her room. She got cozy in her bed, and went to sleep. She felt a Pinkie sense, so she checked it. It meant a flower pot. Pinkie quickly dodged it, and relaxed. She already put the glass away, and cleaned the broken pot. Now she was really tired, and drifted into her dream land. Or candy land.
Inkie woke up. She remembered she still didn't get her cutie mark. She eagerly checked her flank.....but, sadly, nothing was there. Inkie sighed and relaxed again. She held her Pinkie Pie doll tight, knowing that they would be the best of friends and sisters. Inkie had good memory, that was probably the only reason that the family cared for her. Except Pinkie.... she thought. She never was mean, and always cared about * me.*** she remembered the times with Pinkie, and the day she left. She teared up a bit. Don't worry, sister! She thought to herself. I'm coming soon!
After 'Surprise' was finished silently sobbing to herself, she remembered she had a mission. Pinkie wouldn't cry, she would remember that something good is going to happen! She smiled. A very sincere smile after a bad thought. She flew outside to celebrate, and startled most of the ponies near her.
"WOOOOOHOOOOOOO!" She yelled out happily. But, like Pinkie always did, the ponies smiled. Inkie's, though, was the biggest. She felt so proud of herself. She continued her celebration, and ponies continued smiling. She remembered her sister's special song she sang if anyone got sad. "I love to make you smile, smile, smile! Yes I do!" Some ponies joined in, and the ponies who knew Pinkie definitely chimed in.
Everything was wonderful. And her being very cheerful made her more similar to Pinkie. She could be the replacement element of laughter! And she thought about how she and Pinkie would be. Best friends, of course! she thought. Her eyes and smile widened at the thought. There probably won't be a problem! After she finished celebrating, she thought she would make a party for Pinkie. She would say they should have a party before Pinkie even says it! As she climbed into bed for the night, she thought of those happy things. She snuggled with her Pinkie doll very tight, as if it was the real Pinkie. Inkie knew the next day would be very important, so she went to sleep earlier than last night. She looked out the window at the night sky. Tomorrow would be a nice day...............
Author's Note: Yes, you read that right. Inkie was secretly a Pegasus, and renamed herself Surprise. I got curious to see how this fic would be. I thought of the idea when I noticed that people thought Octavia was Inkie, because of the coat, mane, tail, and eyes. So I thought, What if it were only eyes... And so came this fic. Let's see how it goes :)
Pinkie got up from bed. She had a special order today. A pony named 'Surprise' was coming to Ponyville, and requested a party. But she said she specifically want the Elements there. Especially Pinkie. On the phone, she probably said her name thirteen times. And sounded...oddly familiar? Pinkie knew today was gonna be a busy day. But that didn't get her out of her happy mood. Instantly, she spun around to the blank stare of Gummy.
"Heya, Gummy!" She ended with a weird giggle-snort. Gummy just blinked in response. Pinkie had a party to make, and needed everything from invitations to streamers and balloons and- Is that Twilight?
"Hello, Pinkie. Just came over to say that I always wondered....whatever happened to your family? If that's not too much to ask. I know it was a rough lifestyle." Twilight said with understanding. And for once she thought Pinkie's hair looked a little more dull today. Yet, she was hiding it in a smile. And it sure wasn't genuine.
"Um....maybe some other time. Soooo, anything else? Can I get you a cupcake, cookie, anything?" Pinkie replied, her tone ever so slightly different only she would notice. She desperately wanted to change the subject. Twilight, fortunately for her, didn't notice a thing. She just smiled warmly, like nothing happened.
"Oh, that's okay. I heard you'll be very busy for a special party." Twilight said. Then, Pinkie remembered. The party! Almost forgot! And Twilight's invited! Pinkie gasped, and Twilight's reaction was a puzzled expression.
"Oh yeeeeaaaah! You're invited Twilight!" Pinkie gave her an invitation that seemingly came out of nowhere.
"Um...thanks, I guess?" Twilight replied, confused. She quietly trotted home, almost tripping over a rock as she was lost in thought about how Pinkie got the invitation.
Pinkie, of course, knew what she would do for the party. Make it-as Rarity would say- THE. BEST. POSSIBLE. THING.
Inkie soon woke up, smiling as she saw her pinkie doll snuggled up with her. She hugged it quickly before getting up to get everything ready. Soon after that, she met the train conductor. He was a but grumpy today, so she just gave him the tickets and got in the train. She casually looked around the part of the train she was in for a decent seat. Until something, or shuld I say Somepony caught her eye.
That coat looks familiar.....so do those eyes...and... Inkie gasped as she realized who that pony was. Okay, be a stranger, who knows how she will react. I don't even know if she likes Pinkie... Inkie remembered the times with that pony. She never really did anything then the routine.
"Um, Miss, would it be okay if I sat here?" 'Surprise' asked.
"Fine." was the only word that came out of the mare's mouth. Inkie felt sad she was still bitter like long ago. I guess even Blinkie was a runaway....
Inkie got ready to talk to Blinkie. Okay, my name is Surprise, I am a bubbly pegasus pony, and my special talent is...Is... Inkie remembered that she had no cutie mark. Oh.. She was quickly interrupted from her thoughts by Blinkie.
"Name's Blinkie. Yours?" Blinkie said out of the blue. She didn't seem to talk much.
"Surprise.." Inkie replied nervously.
"Pegasus I see. Live on any clouds? I always wondered what it was like up there...." Blinkie soon got lost in thought.
"Um...no actually. I've never been allow- I mean, I've just never been on one. Hehe" Inkie said nervously.
"You remind me of one of my sisters. She was a pegasus in an earth pony family. But, my other sister was strange, too. A pink pony in a family with shades of grey? That was pretty strange." Blinkie chuckled, loosening up. Inkie smiled.
"I know how you feel. I really do." Inkie replied. I really do... she repeated in her mind. As the train came to a stop, Blinkie spoke up, to Inkie's surprise.
"Nice meeting you, Surprise! Maybe we'll meet aga- You're going to Ponyville too?!" Blinkie ended, shocked.
"A-Actually I am. I was going to have a party with a famous party pony!" Inkie laughed, genuine this time.
"And who might that be?" Blinkie asked, interested in who the pony was.
"Her name is Pinkie Pie. A very bubbly pony." Inkie said, waiting for Blinkie's reaction.
"P-P-P-Pinkie...L-lives...H-H-Here?!" Blinkie said with wide eyes.
"What, are you a fan?" Inkie said, trying not to sound like she already knew why she was shocked.
"I have to go, sorry. I must meet Pinkie no-"
"WAIT! Um...Like I said I am having a party with her very soon, after I unpack actually. You could...come if you want?" Inkie said, trying to have a little reunion. Blinkie just stood there. Then she smiled warmly and nodded.
"That would be nice. I would love to come." Blinkie said before silently walking off. Inkie smiled and trotted to her own house that a librarian lent her. A small cottage, right next to the library. Inkie quickly unpacked everything, as she was eager to see Pinkie once again. After playing around with her poofy hair for a bit, she checked to see if Blinkie was ready. And she was. Inkie saw that she was also not bitter, just that she needed a friend that would understand her. Blinkie came out with a simple flower in her hair and her usual, straight hair.
She was very excited. Instead of disliking Pinkie, she actually missed having somepony to cheer her up and make her smile.
"So, shall we go? Hopefully, you know how to PAR-TAY!" Surprise said. She was already acting like a pony who was named 'Surprise'. Blinkie just nodded in return and started trotting slowly to Sugar Cube Corner.
"Oh, you're here! Nice to meet you Surprise! You look like you're ready to party! Do you like sweets?! Of course you do! Everypony likes sweets! Oh and hi ther-" Pinkie immediately stopped. She met eyes with a smiling Blinkie. As Blinkie saw that she might not be happy, her smile slowly turned into a frown.
"Do you not....like me?" Blinkie asked sorrowfully.
"....I..I.." Was all that came out of Pinkie's mouth. Until a second later, of course.
"OMGI'MSOEXCITED!AREYOUEXCITED?!ISUREAMEXCITED!BLINKIE'SHERE! Now all we need is Inkie...well, Atleast you're here, right Blinkie!" Pinkie said, not letting anything get her down.
Inkie giggled. Pinkie just smiled back.
"The party will start soon, dontcha worry!" Pinkie yelled as she ran to the oven where cupcakes wer just finished baking.
"Wow. She's still as fun as ever." Blinkie laughed.
"Just as I hoped..." Inkie muttered.
"What was that?" Blinkie asked.
"Oh, nothing....." Inkie smirked And here I thought something bad was gonna happen..
"Yuppers, if only...Inkie was....here..." Pinkie said, getting faint near the end. She missed her two sisters very much, and was glad one was here, but still missed Inkie. Her hair quickly deflated. The two sisters stared as her mane turned very different.
''Um, Pinkie? Are you...okay?" Inkie asked. She was worried that she had done something wrong.
"N-No...I'm not...." Pinkie replied. She looked so sad it made both of the mares' hearts break.
"I'm sorry, did something happen, sister?" Blinkie asked worriedly.
"I guess I just..*sniff* Really, REALLY, miss Inkie, Blinks....." Pinkie said, sounding a bit better by calling her by her nickname.
"Um...I'm sorry you miss her..." was all Inkie said, as she felt too guilty to say much more. Now, how do I cheer her up? She asked herself in her mind. She looked around, as if anypony where there who knew what to do. Only a few were there and were very interested in whatever they were doing to notice. Inkie and Blinkie were starting to get a bit too worried. Pinkie just stood there, tearing up. Inkie knew that somehow, this was a test. To see what she would do. She thought of the first thing that came to mind. She was happy yet dissapointed it was parties, but she liked how she was like Pinkie. She dismissed the thought and wondered if any of her friends could help. She quickly ran out, Blinkie galloping beside her. She knew she had a pegasus friend that had something to do with rainbows. Now if I could atleast remember the name.. Inkie racked her brain for a name, but could not remember anything. She sighed in defeat, until a rainbow blur streaked by.
"THAT'S IT!' Inkie shouted which startled the mare near her. Rainbow...streak? No..NO, DASH! Rainbow Dash! Inkie finally came up with the name and quickly tried to catch up. Her efforts appeared useless, as Rainbow Dash was 'The Fastest Flier in Equestria'. She slowly came to a land, frowning. She didn't realize she could just tell Pinkie she was Inkie. N o, not only would it ruin the surprise, but after this whole dilemma? Inkie thought. She thinks she needs more than just that. Then she remembers what she first thought of. A PARTY! She shouted in her head. She mentally face hoofed herself while desperately making a party as quick as possible. She was impressed by her work, beaming at it.
"Pinkie? Wanna see this....big thing I gotta show you?" Inkie asked.
"Sure. I have nothing else nice in my life." said Pinkie, a whole new pony in a matter of minutes. Inkie frowned, but it was shortly replaced by a smile as she pulled down a curtain covering the whole party and showed off her work. Pinkie gasped as her mane poofed up again. There were streamers everywhere, and everywhere you go a confetti canon would go off. Sweets and drinks of all kinds were at a table, where balloons were tied to. There were so many blue and yellow balloons, the whole thing would look like a bigger version of Pinkie Pie's cutie mark. One thing caught her eye, though. A purple balloon which looked out of place next to the others was floating alone. Pinkie smiled at a thought. She grabbed it and trotted to the panting pegasus, who was exhausted by just making the whole thing in minutes. Pinkie handed it to her, and Inkie just stared at it, like it was a giant diamond. She smiled warmly and took it in her hoof. Pinkie just smiled back.
"Now...Let's get this PARTY STARTED!" Pinkie yells as she grabs out her party canon, seemingly out of nowhere, and shoots confetti everywhere. Inkie gigles, but then remembers what she was going to say.
"Um, Pinkie?" She nervously said.
"Mm-Hm?" Pinkie replied.
"I just wanted to tell you that I'm...actually..Inkie." Inkie said, squeaking out the last word. Both ponies just stood there in silence, until Pinkie finally broke it like she breaks the fourth wall.
"WELL, WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY SO!OMGOMGIMISSEDYOUSOMUCHICAN'TBELIEVEBOTHOFMYSISTERSAREHERE!" Pinkie exclaimed while hugging Inkie, almost choking her. But she still smiled and held that lone purple balloon. Then, there was a white flash. Pinkie looked at Inkie's flank for a moment then looked at Inkie. Inkie just stared, so she gestured to her flank. Inkie eagerly looked back.....and there were three balloons, almost identical to Pinkie's. Only one thing was different.
They were Purple .
