You lay on your bed, wondering how your life got so damn boring and downright unpleasant. You always got good grades in school, so how the hell did you end up with this crappy job at McDonald's? Oh right, you majored in English instead of something useful like Engineering or Computer Science. Good one, anon. Real clever.
Still, you feel like you'd be miserable if you went into one of those fields. Programming and physics are not your cup of tea, you prefer the creative arts, the world of literature in particular. You just don't find the busywork very satisfying, perhaps it's just an elaborate excuse for being lazy, but you'd much rather spend the rest of your life reading, writing, and learning everything there is to know about the world.
As much as you'd like to go back and change the past, you know it's impossible, and now you have to live with the consequences of not pushing yourself harder.
Suddenly, a rift opens up before your very eyes in the middle of your room. "Am I going crazy?" you think to yourself as you look on at the anomaly before you.
Suddenly, the weirdest creature you've ever seen steps out of the portal. It looks like a monstrous hybrid between a goat and a lizard that stands on two legs. It has a long, snake-like body that screams of asymmetry. One of its arms is in the shape of an eagle's talon while the other arm is in the shape of a lion's paw. One of its legs looks like it came from a deer while its other leg looks like that of a reptile. On top of it all is an ugly goat like head with a deer horn on one side of its head and a goat horn on the other. Also it looks like this thing has....wings. You know what, fuck this.
"W-what the fuck are you?" you say in a somewhat frightened tone.
"Me?" he asks, in a tone that makes it seem as if you insulted him just by asking. "Why, I'm Discord! The Lord of Chaos, the baron of mischief, the king of calamity!" He grins. "And you, my boy, are just the one I was looking for!"
"What the hell do you want with me?" you say, puzzled by his intent.
"Why, you're the perfect candidate for my little experiment of course! I've been watching your progress you see, and I can tell you are entirely dissatisfied with this world. What if I told you I could give you a fresh start? A new world to live in where you could live out your passions to the fullest without the daily grind getting in the way?"
"A new...world?" you ask in disbelief. You ponder a few moments. "Prove it."
"Very well then." Discord states. He walks over to the portal and pulls one of its edges back with his talon. Inside the rift you see a beautiful field that rivals the most vibrant of paintings with a massive castle in the background, looming overhead on a nearby mountain.
"Holy shit. What is this place?"
"Why, my egghead friend, this is Equestria!" He lets loose a hearty laugh and walks back over to you.
"So, you coming, or not?" he says. "I can always find some other human...but I feel they won't be as interesting."
