There used to be five Lords. Now they’re all gone...

Five regal lords of Magic. All harnessing the capabilities of the world around them. Each mastering and continuously perfecting their respective magic fields. The Lords were known to be the most powerful unicorns of this earth.

Blackheart, the Lord of Night, he was the one who was the closest to the darkness, he was responsible for delving into the darkest of places on this earth. He was what many would consider a “spy”. He was known to be sleek, cunning, surprisingly honest, and very charismatic. Yet, if you got off on the wrong hoof with him. You wouldn’t know if you were either in heaven or still on the Earth.

Firestorm. Just as her name says it, she was the Lord of all fire and magic relating to fire. With her fiery passion for combat and war, she also had that same passion in controlling the fire and magma of this earth. Every single fire and ounce of magma on this earth, bended to her will.

Forgeheart, the Lord of all Forging and Conjuring. He forged the armor of the Lords’, having mastered the ways of the forge and fire along with the art of conjuring. Anything that he imagined within his mind became reality through his conjuring. He forge mighty armor as tough yet as beautiful as a snowpeak mountain.

Starswirl the Bearded, the Lord and controller of all arcane magic. Having mastered in the ways of new and old, he made groundbreaking discoveries in the art of magic. He was the very stallion to defeat the Sirens of Hate and banished them to a world that none know of. Though he was one of the more powerful, he was not the leader of the Banner of Magic.

Roaming Star, the very founder of the Lords. He was the one who conceived of the Lords. The very first and last bastion of the light. He was the master of environmental magic, the earth, water, and wind bowed before him and his will. Many would regard him as the most powerful lord out of the five Lords. But he wasn’t able to do much for the Lords for he was pulled in many directions. Before the founding of Banner of Magic, Roaming Star had married Princess Luna of Mul, forcing him into the political scene. Where he would have to balance out both politics and leading the Equines along with leading the Lords of Magic.

The Lords of Magic ushered in a golden age with their magical abilities. New settlements were founded all across Equestria even modern day Cloudsdale and Canterlot. The Equines lived in a peaceful life, where they flourished and ultimately became a great race. But this golden age could last for so long…

Eastwards, in the Lands of the Griffins, darkness stirred. The King of the Griffin lands, Arahshunra, had commissioned a gauntlet that would be the most regal of all gauntlets. One that would enamor the eye at first glance with its gold design and jewels. But he was betrayed, an archpriest that had devoted himself to art of mastering evil magic and corrupting the magic of light. He indoctrinated the forge-master and placed a corruption spell on the gauntlet. Causing whoever wore it for an hour to become corrupted by its darkness.

As an hour passed after Arahshunra received his gauntlet and he felt the darkness seep into him. And he allowed it to seep into him. He then began to enslave the Griffins and forced them into hard labor and prepared for a war. A war against the Equines, thus prompting the Griffin-Equine War. A war that would be decisive for the Equines, but would come at a heavy cost for the Equines at the same time.

It was the final battle of the war. The Battle of Northern Crystal. The clouds were dark and the wind was blowing. The air was temperate. Both sides clashed against each other and the Griffins would be pushed back until Arahshunra would come to the battle. As he emerged, his eyes were glowing, the black pupils contrasted against the intense orange of his eyes. He raised his gauntlet and as the Equine soldiers charged him were pushed back with such intense force that it sent them flying. He continually did so, killing many and wounding many more.

He continued doing so until he would eventually engage the Lords of Magic. As all five of them stood there, waiting to fight the Griffin. Their motto “To be the first and last bastion of light” became ever so more clear to them. For they were staring right into the eyes of darkness.

They then charged him and fought against each other for thirty minutes, non-stop. With blades and axes clashing and creating sparks of both light and darkness. Continuous magic blasts that missed and hit the ground and rarely struck Arahshunra. The army of Equines tried to help but were sealed out by an invisible wall and they could enter the fighting arena. But the fighting would end…

As Roaming Star struck the last blow against the Griffin King. The claw that held the gauntlet was cut off and as the king fell to the ground lifeless. The Lords thought they had won the war for the Griffin king was dead and his connection with the gauntlet had been severed. They stood there, breathless looking upon on his dead body laying lifeless against the ground. The Lords had thought they had achieved victory, but there was a contingency placed by the Archpriest...

All of the sudden there was a massive explosion and cloud of shadows constantly moving all around the Lords of Magic. The shadows kept moving around and around and kept accelerating. Until it cleared, and the lords were there, but there were only two of them seen. But the two were in states unimaginable and ultimately humiliating and ironic at the same time.

Firestorm, had been formed into a statue that seeped molten lava out of it. The statue was made out of obsidian. Forgestone was made also into a statue that was simply plated metal and was already beginning to rust. The only remnant of Blackheart was that he had been simply reduced to a pile of his armor with nothing left in it as if he were consumed by the shadows himself.

Starswirl followed the same state where he was reduced to nothing more than dust and his clothing was there. But soon enough the dust blew away what remained of him and he was lost forever.

As for, Roaming Star, there was no trace of where he had gone to. No armor, no clothing, no weaponry, absolutely nothing. It was as if he never even existed in life before.

And so with that, the Lords of Magic were gone and Equestria had entered a dark age where there was no way to recover from the great Equines they had lost. The Princesses of Equestria tried to constantly repair the damage done but to no avail, they were unable to recreate the golden age that the Lords of Magic had created for the Equine race.

The Archpreist remained unanswered for his crimes and the Griffins would enter a dark age that would last to this day...

But there was still hope for this world, for one Bastion awoke within another world and could find his way home….
