Ponyville has a number of strange, archaic traditions. Most of them formed by Earth Pony founders, but there is one tradition that has never altered in its many years of practice. After the Winter Wrap-Up, all of Ponyville vote on a mare and a stallion. When it is time for the Spring Thaw to end, all the ponies gather in the town square and the lots are drawn. Whoever wins this lottery must publicly display the most base of actions, they must mate in front of the entire town; paving the way and easing the tension of the many ponies eager for the Spring Heat Season.
