‘Twas the Night Before Christmas - er, Hearth’s Warming Eve
The snow had all fallen, and now buried the leaves
The animals slept sound in the cold winter snow
While the cottage was warm, from the fire light’s glow
The Mane Six celebrated at Fluttershy’s place
Since it seemed Twilight’s castle had far too much space
For six little ponies, filled with holiday cheer
It was outside in the snow where Discord appeared
He never used doors - no, they were anti-climactic
But if he did, he thought, they might think it dramatic
He was about to strut in, his head raised in pride
When he glanced through the window, and then peeked inside
A tree decorated, and lights hung up high
The ponies all talked, and Spike slept sound nearby
“We should open gifts now!” Sure, they were already there.
“Why wait until tomorrow?” They were all full-grown mares
Discord saw them open gifts - why, he hadn’t brought one!
“Of course!” he said; and with a snap, his shopping was done
For Pinkie a cake, and for Jackie a pie
For Twilight some book, and for Rare sewing line
“Or whatever you call it.” Then he counted them all
“One, two, three, four, five…” He was missing one, no?
“Oh, right, the dragon.” He made some gems on the fly
But wait now! He’d forgotten his own Fluttershy!
How could he forget her?! How could he even dare?
With a snap of his talon, he’d gift her a toy bear
“Bears are her favorite!” - she would love it, he knew it
Then he glanced, and saw Pinkie had beaten him to it
“Very well.” A single wave, and the bear turned to dust
Then out popped a blanket, which he hand-snapped with love
But Rarity announced at the highest of pitch
She’d give Fluttershy one, gems engraved in each stitch
“How silly!” Discord shouted, resounding a growl
“How about pictures, flight goggles, or these gorgeous flowers?”
Everything he’d formed, other ponies had offered
He couldn’t give the same thing and look like a copier
“How about the new bird feeder she’s always desired?”
Then Spike stole his idea; in Discord’s eyes lit a fire
“Oh come on!”So he screamed, and he cried, and he shouted
“Their gifts can’t be better, no, I won’t allow it!”
“My gift will be greatest - the strongest, the loudest!
“They’ll be best, and Fluttershy will be the proudest!”
Unaware of his deeds, Discord’s thoughts became true
His new present had horns, and strong arms, and it grew
The ponies all heard a great rumbling outside
“Hey, what’s that sound?” “Oh my word!” Rarity cried
When they heard, all the ponies went out at that moment
Discord went: “My new gift will astound her now, won’t it?”
Dash sneered, “Today of all days is when he goes mad?”
“Discord, you stop this!” Twilight exclaimed, all but glad
Discord, he blushed - not realizing what he’d done
It was all a mistake, he didn’t do this for fun!
“My apologies…” He made his mess disappear
“I truly didn’t mean to spoil Hearth’s Warming this year
He turned to Fluttershy, who was confused as to why
... did all this came to pass? Dear, what had gone awry?
“All I wanted was to get you a breathtaking gift
“But my ideas were all taken, and none of them fit
“It just had to be perfect, not too big or too small
“In the end, I didn’t get you anything at all…”
Discord thought it was over, and he’d soon take this leave
One more screw up, and he’d just ruined Hearth’s Warming Eve
But unlike what he thought, Fluttershy wasn’t mad
No, all she could manage to do was just laugh
“Discord, you silly! It doesn’t even matter!”
She flew up to him in the midst of her laughter
“Hearth’s Warming is about friendship, not just some present!
“Around the fire with friends is how I like to spend it.”
Still, he sighed: “All of that, and still nothing to show.”
Then to her cottage and back, she flew and grabbed a bow
A bow which she stuck right on top of his nose!
He lay there in shock, then gave a big toothy grin
“I suppose having me is a gift as it is!”
Everypony all chuckled, and they all went inside
Where they talked and had fun by the warm fire bright
Just remember that presents are not all you need
Spend time with others...
