Equestria's Storytellerby TheEveryDaySparkleChaptersChapter 1: A New StoryNew FriendsChapter 2: The New WorldChapter 1: A New StoryIt was just a normal day for Prince Wild. Go to school, do his work, go home, do more work, and then slack off. He usually spent his time writing stories. Not that he was any good or anything like that, at least, not to himself. Well, it's not that he thought he was bad. He knew he was good, he just didn't want to seem arrogant in saying that his work was amazing or great or anything like that. He always believed that confidence bred arrogance, and he didn't want to be that kind of person. His writing was never well known, and unfortunately, most of his work was also never finished. He blamed it on writer's block sure, but before he took an interest in writing once again, he just never found proper inspiration to do any writing and what little he did write he never actually got completed. His parents never treated him right. Or at least that's what he thought. He eventually realized that they just wanted what was best for him. But, even then, they still fought at times. He never knew why, but even at a young age, he was always a deep-minded child. He was also very smart. He would think of things such as the existence of god, the true nature of human beings, the truth of the claims of evolution, and the intricacies of paradise and death. It was during one of these particular thought processes that he realized something. He wanted to leave a mark on this world. Something for people to remember him by. He originally thought that would be something lasting, like a TV show and such things, but as he grew older, he began to question his decision and, as he got back into writing, figured that he would maybe leave his legacy in the form of a book. After all, his mother always said it was a talent of his. He had always been a...strange kid. Not the stereotypical nerd glasses, E=MC2, pocket protecter type of strange. He was more along the lines of the talks to himself, does and says strange things, and randomly jumps into conversations kind of strange. Of course, it was nothing too bad, and he had plenty of friends. The ones from college were his best ones. He didn't look too bad. Or at least others seemed to think so. He never had any confidence in his looks, but recently, he doesn't have any confidence in anything, so what did it matter. His short, dark hair was a mess of curls and straight strands, gifts from both of his parents that had earned him many a compliment in that regard. He eventually added blue highlights, as that was his favorite color. His eyes were blue and he had the greatest of smiles. All of this was framed by a slim figure and toned body, none of which he actually fully cared enough to maintain properly at times due to his many distractions writing. Speaking of which, that was exactly what he was doing now. Writing his heart out as he sat at his small desk, the only light present being a low lamp positioned directly over him and his work. Work which he was now frustrated over, as was usual. "Arrgh! Come on! You can do better than that, Prince! What are you trying to write?" He whisper-yelled to himself as he focused all his attention on his next sentence. He had been writing for quite a while and he was now stuck on a single sentence. He had gotten so fed up with it that he had nearly given up, but then inspiration struck, leading him to write a sentence that he would ultimately have to erase, only to begin anew with the cycle all over again. He hated when this happened. He usually spent so much time on things like this, that it would be nighttime by the time he even got a single idea that he thought would work, and even then as he wrote it down, he would simply erase it again, finding it not good enough to be in the story. He looked at his alarm clock, right next to his bed on his nightstand where it always was. Sure enough, there it was. 11:30, his bedtime. He had always wondered why an 18 year old needed a bedtime, but his mother was adamant about him getting proper rest, and so, he gave up and did as he was told. He knew that with his brain as fried as it was, he'd never be able to think up anything proper right before he went to bed, so he decided to let it be, and set everything down, getting into his bed and sliding under the covers. He looked around his room, gave a little more thought to that one elusive sentence, curled up, closed his eyes, and slept, not knowing that he would wake up in an entirely different world than his own. While he slept, he dreamed. And as he dreamed, he found himself floating in some sort of dark place, his back never touching the ground he assumed should be there. He opened his eyes to find himself floating in what appeared to be nothing but a dark void full of mist and a strange chocolate smell. Before his brain had any time to register where he was, or question why he smelled chocolate, he heard a voice in the distance, saying, "Hello there, Prince." He immediately looked around. Whatever this strange voice was, it knew him somehow, and after all the paranormal shows he watched, he knew that something was wrong with that fact. "Where are you? Who are you? Show yourself!" He screamed into the void as he looked around more. That's when he saw it. A strange, bipedal creature with the weirdest appearance he ever thought possible. It had a deer's antler, a demon horn, a dragon's tail, a serpent like body and a single fang. It also had a lion's paw and what looked like a lizard's claw. "What are you?" He asked. "My, my, so many questions." He heard the thing say. "Why don't you buy me dinner first?" Prince frowned at the strange creatures joke, obviously not amused. "Tough crowd tonight. Anyway, hello again. How do you do? My name is Discord." Prince stood, yes, stood, as in all the way upright in a void space. Well, it was more like he floated, and was in fact still floating when... He had an awestruck look on his face. This creature could talk? And how did it know him? Out of all the questions he had for the creature, he settled on, "Discord? Who's that?" Discord was taken aback by the blunt display of ignorance he had just heard. "Wait, you don't know me, Discord? God of Chaos? Draconequus Extraordinaire? Surely with as much as you've read, you must know something." "Nope. Never heard of you a day in my life." Discord sighed. "Oh well, can't be helped." He took a deep breath. "Say, how would you like to come with me?" "Come with you? Where? What are you going to do to me? Are you a serial killer?" "By my beard, will you quit it with the questions already?!" "Ehehe, sorry. I just always wanted to ask that. But seriously what do you want with me?" Discord sighed again. "I suppose it can't be helped if you don't know." He suddenly smiled. "Well, sit down and get comfortable because I'm going to tell you something." Prince sat cross-legged. "Now, You're a writer aren't you?" "Yes." "And lately you've been having trouble finding inspiration?" "Yes, but how did you-" "Well, I just so happen to know the most inspiring place around. Although it's a bit of a ways away from where you live. Like a 'ways' away." "How far is it?" "You'll see." "Fine. Now why do you want me to go there so badly?" "Yes, about that. You see, i've been watching you for a while now and-" "Wait, you've been watching me?" "Yes, actually. I must admit I had doubts about it at first. After all, i'm invading on someone's privacy." "Yeah, ya think!" "But when I heard you say you wanted to try writing, I had to see how that might develop. And I must say, your stories are great. Even the unfinished ones." "Wait how do you know about those?!" "I've been watching you remember?" "Oh, right." "I wanted to share your talent with my friends back in the other world, so I-" "Other world?" "Oh dear. It seems i let loose a little to much detail." "Damn right! Why am I going all the way to another dimension just to write?" "Didn't you want to be recognized in your world? Didn't you want to get inspiration? I bet you can get all that and more in the other world." Prince was considering it now. "That sounds...promising." "See what i mean? And you'll make a lot of friends there." "I have friends back home." "Ah, but are they true friends?" "Well, no, but..." "Exactly. Now about my offer?" "I...guess I could come. But you have to promise that I'll have friends." "Oh the best of them. Now let's go. we're already here." "Wait what?" With that, the creature disappeared and the void was flooded with light, causing Prince to have to cover his eyes. He soon felt warm, soft grass on his back, and tried to sit up, but he couldn't. When he was finally able to, he began moving around on autopilot, not really knowing what was happening. That is until he came upon a river and saw his reflection. As he stared into the crystal clear water, what he saw made him gasp. He had a blue mane, white coat, and four legs. He was...a pony! New FriendsPrince smiled. He smiled more and more and more. He wasn't smiling because he was happy however. He was smiling because as adorable as the perky pink pony was, Pinkie Pie could get a bit annoying if allowed to talk for too long. 'Someone stop her. Please? Pretty please?' This was the final thought that ran through Prince's boredom stricken mind before a purple pony put a hoof to her muzzle to stop her. This pony, according to a very enthusiastic Pinky Pie, was Twilight Sparkle, alicorn princess of friendship and one of the three rulers of Equestria. "Sorry about that. What was your name again?" She said as she looked at me. "My name is Prince Wild." I told her in response. "And you're sure you're not a prince?" "Yes, I'm sure." "I see. Very well then." With that, the room fell into the most awkward silence in the history of all silences. "So... Tell me about yourself. How did you arrive in Ponyville? Do you have family here? Were you always here to begin with?" He considered his options for a moment. It wouldn't hurt to tell them the truth, but something told him they wouldn't believe him if he just outright told them that he came from another world. Then again, he was in a different world from his own altogether now, and based off what he's seen, it shouldn't be too crazy. "I was brought here from another world by a creature who called itself the 'God of Chaos' or something. I think his name was..." "Discord." Twilight finished his sentence for him. "You know him?" Prince was surprised that what he thought was right. "He's my 'friend'." Twilight said. Prince could've sworn he heard her put a sarcastic emphasis on the word 'friend', but he wasn't sure. "Long story?" "The longest." They both sighed at the same time. "Anyway, you said you were a princess? I'd like to hear more about that." Twilight's ears perked up and she looked him dead in the eye. "Really?" He nodded as Twilight began. "Well, like Pinkie Pie said, I'm the Princess of Friendship. I rule Equestria with Princesses Celestia and Luna." "And who are they?" Prince asked with a raised eyebrow. He was interested now. Particularly in the whole 'triple ruler' bit. It was much different from his world, which only had one. A very good one, mind you. But still only one. "Well, Princess Celestia is the princess of the sun, and Princess Luna is the princess of the moon. Although I would know more about Princess Celestia, considering I studied directly under her while i was learning about friendship." Prince nodded again, drawing the attention of Twilight, who asked. "You're not surprised that I learned all there is to know about friendship personally from the princess herself?" "That's not it." "Then what is it?" "It just makes sense." "Makes sense?" "The student of a princess becomes one herself. Seems legit to me." "I-i...suppose..." Twilight's ears perked up again, returning from their previously flat state against her head. "Would you like to meet them?" He smiled at her and said, "I'd love to." "Great! I'll arrange it right away." He was taken aback by the sudden words. "What? You mean right now?" "No, silly! Celestia's a princess! She's busy! We can't just show up at the castle uninvited out of the blue." He sighed in relief. He couldn't even get out of bed in the morning without going back to sleep at least three times. He surely wasn't ready to meet a princess. "We can still meet my friends, if you'd like?" Twilight looked at him expectantly. She wanted him to say yes. He bet she couldn't wait to show him off to her new friends. The first pony from another world. "Sure." He said with a smile. What could go wrong? Seeing that he was tired, Twilight offered to let Prince stay the night at her castle. Pinkie had as well, but something told him he wouldn't be getting much sleep if he had accepted. It broke his heart to tell the happy go lucky mare no. Especially when her mane deflated and she started making puppy dog eyes. Her lip quivered as well, an extra touch to complete her display of grief. Prince had to fight to stop himself from reconsidering and changing his decision. As he made his way to bed that night in one of the rooms of Twilight's castle, he found himself wondering about his old world. What was happening there now? Were his parents looking for him? And whatever happened to that unfinished book he left sitting on his desk? Discord said he would have all the inspiration he could ever want and more here. He just hoped he was right. "Good morning, Prince." Prince heard Twilight's voice in his ears as he slowly opened his eyes to see her staring at him intently. "Good morning, Twilight. Were you...watching me sleep?" Prince said as he realized his position. "No! Why would I do that? I don't even really know you! I was just checking up on you to see if you were awake." "Oh right. Thanks." He thanked her for her trouble and sat up in bed, swinging his legs over the side and standing up. "Well, let's go." came Twilight voice. "Let's go where?" he asked in response as he made his way toward the bathroom, which Twilight had shown him the way to while she was giving him a tour of the castle. "Off to meet my friends. You said you wanted to meet them didn't you?" she asked, trying to confirm is continued interest. "Oh yeah, that. Can't it wait until i'm feeling less like a snail with a limp?" He responded as he made his way into the bathroom and completed the daily routine. "I suppose it can wait. You do need your rest after all." She sighed and left the room, letting you get your rest. She returned an hour later to see him up and about. "Are you ready to go?" "Yes. Let's go." The two of you left the castle and made your way through town, all the while Twilight explaining to him the setup of the day. "I arranged to have a picnic today. That way, everyone can meet you, and you can meet them without having to go from house to house." "I see. That's convenient. Thank you." "You're very welcome." With that, the two of you made your way to the picnic spot where Twilight's friends were waiting. As he entered the clearing that made up the picnic area, he saw five of the most colorful ponies he'd ever laid eyes on. One was orange with a blonde mane and tail, the latter carefully set in a bow. One had a rainbow mane, and still one had a pink fluffy one. There was even a yellow one with a pink mane, just like the other. The thing that interested him the most however, was the fact that they all had marks on their flanks. One was of butterflies, one was of apples, one was of diamonds, and there was even one of ,of all things, a rainbow lightning bolt. Suddenly he had a thought. What if Twilight had one as well. He checked, looking at her flank while trying not to be seen as some sort of weird pervert. Sure enough, there it was. Directly on her flank sat a purple six pointed star with other little white stars surrounding it. 'Okay now that that's over...' He thinks as he turns his head away from her flank to look over at her friends. He makes his way down to the clearing and sits down, looking around at all the mares. One of them comes up to him. The orange mare. "Well, howdy! My name's Apple Jack! How are ya?" came her voice. She seemed to have a bit of a country girl dialect. With as much appreciation as he had for accents and the like, he really enjoyed hearing her speak. "Hello. My name is Prince Wild. I'm doing just fine, thank you for asking." And then it began. A yellow mare walked up to him, shock and awe on her face. "You're a prince!" He tried to stop the inevitable storm that was coming. "No i'm no-...!" "Well, I've never seen you around before. Maybe you're from a foreign kingdom?" This mare didn't know how right she was. Except for the kingdom part of course. Then came Apple Jack. "Well, i'll be! We're lookin' at full on pure blooded royalty!" She bowed, only making things worse, as soon came another mare. the one with the rainbow mane. "So, you're a prince huh? You don't look like much. I bet you're just pretending so you can impress us." "Rainbow! That's not nice! Apologize right now!" came the yellow mare's voice again. The aptly named Rainbow turned to her friend. "But just look at him. No prince would walk around without his crown! And where's his chariot! He's obviously faking it." "That still doesn't mean you can be mean to him like that!" "Ugh, fine. I'm sorry." The only one to not jump him was Pinkie Pie. She knew the truth, and right now, he was glad she did. "Um, excuse me?" Now the mares were all arguing over whether his royalty was the truth or not. Their voices were getting louder and louder, and now they sounded like a chorus of noise and yelling. He had to stop this before it got any worse. Thankfully, however, before he could yell at the to stop, Twilight beat him to the punch. "Girls!" Everypony stopped and stared at Twilight, their fighting forgotten for the moment as she said, "Why are you all acting this way? Is this what we want to show our visitors? That we can't hold a decent conversation without trying to tear each other's throats out?" Fluttershy shivered at that last part. Everypony looked down in shame at what they had done, and Flluttershy went up to him, her eyes to the ground. "I'm sorry we were being so rude to you. It was my fault." she said sadly. Prince smiled at her before getting on his knees and looking her right in the eyes. "It's fine, I forgive you. It wasn't your fault." "But it was! It was because of what I said that everyone just started bombarding you like that. I didn't mean to but I caused you so much trouble. And after you just got here too. I'm sorry." He smiled at her. She was a nice mare. kind too. "I promise it's fine. Don't worry about it." "Really? You're not mad?" she said, looking up at him with hopeful eyes. "Not at all." "Yay!" The rest of the day went by normally. The picnic was fun, you met everypony there, and you made a nice group of friends as well. Everything was going to be just fine. Chapter 2: The New World"As the wind plays it's music and I play my own, we join in a chorus of song. I walk this path that nature has set, hoping that nothing is wrong." As he made his way across the forest he now found himself in, he sang a little song to himself to pass the time. He always made up little random songs to help him enjoy himself while he did something. When he had first landed here in this strange forest, he had no idea where he was. And, while that fact still held true, he had come to a few realizations that helped him get over his newfound situation. Strangely, back when he looked into the river at his reflection, and found that he was a pony, he was okay with it. Of course, this was after screaming and grabbing at himself multiple times to make sure all of him was in fact still there. And lo and behold , he was still in tact. Even his glasses were still on. He checked his voice to make sure he still sounded like himself, and he was happy to find that he did. The only thing that had mildly stuck out to him was the fact that he had a horn on his head. But, he simply let it slide and moved on. He was more happy than surprised. All that time he spent researching mythological creatures and now he actually had the chance to experience what it was like to be one. That thought alone washed away all doubts and fears in his mind. After trotting on his feet, now turned hooves, and tripping over both them, and pebbles multiple times, he had gotten used to movement as a pony. And now, as he made his way through the forest, moving in a random direction and waiting for a sign of civilization to appear before him, he found himself wondering just where all the animals in this forest were. He hadn't seen a single bunny, deer, bug or bear anywhere. 'If this is in fact a forest, he thought, 'then surely they must have some local animals here.' Then he had another thought. 'Maybe the animals here are different than others? It is a new dimension after all. Or at least that's what that Discord guy said. I still don't quite get him...' Just as he thought that, he heard a howl off in the distance. He turned in the direction of it and said, "Is that a wolf? I love wolves!" But, then, he stood there staring off into the direction of the sound before saying, "But I don't have time to look for one. I have to find some form of civilization first." With that he turned his attention back to the path he had been trotting on originally, not knowing that he was being stalked by a pair of glowing green eyes in the bushes behind him. After a while of trotting around, he realized something strange. 'Hmm? There are no birds chirping despite it being morning. Something's wrong...' Of course he had been joking when he said that, so he just shrugged it off and moved on. Unfortunately, he didn't know just how right he was. While he was trotting, a strange, wooden, wolf-like creature stalked up to him from behind, pouncing on him with a loud growl. He turned his head and saw the creature, and with mere seconds before he would've been caught and made into a nice meal for whatever this monster was, he galloped off in a random direction as fast as he possibly could and never looked back, too afraid and too filled with adrenaline to care. He continued on like this for a long time, outrunning the beast by quite a bit given his sudden take off. The beast however, upset that it's meal had gotten away after it had been so close to claiming it, had given chase well and was on it's tail as soon as it saw that it was slowing down. And Prince had in fact, been slowing down. After his initial adrenaline induced speed had worn off, helped quite a bit by the fact that he now had four legs instead of just two, he had begun dropping lower and lower in speed and was now struggling to force himself to go fast enough to keep just out of the beast's reach. He had been blindly running, so he had no idea where he was going, let alone how long he'd been running to begin with. But, lucky for him, he spied a simple town somewhere in the distance. He assumed that he had been going that way ever since he began his mad run and decided to push one last time to make it there. He would ask for help with this beast or maybe find a way to keep it away. He made his last push for strength and emerged from the forest with a leap. Or at least it would have been a leap if he wasn't a less than four feet tall pony with no feet to grip the ground with. He jumped and tumbled down the hill he had come upon when he left the forest. When he got to the end, he was sure he was either injured or bleeding, but surprisingly, when he got his bearings again, he was fine. Just a few blades of grass on his hair and tail. And a slight dizziness. He looked around at all the homes and shops he saw. He assumed that this must be the town he saw when he was in the forest. Suddenly he looked back up to the forest. He had to make sure he wasn't being followed. Sure enough though, the beast was still inside the forest where it had been. He sighed audibly and made his way through the city. Upon closer inspection he saw that all the citizens looked similar to him, or he looked similar to them now, either way was fine by him. They were all ponies like he now was, but some were different than him. Some had wings, and some had horns like him, and still some had neither. He felt super happy. Not because he was safe, although he was grateful to god for that. or because he was now in civilization, even though that meant he could speak to the locals and find out where he was. No, he was happy because he had found not only unicorns, multitudes of them, but pegasi as well. This was like a myth lovers dream come true. He made his way toward the first thing that caught his eye, which just so happened to be a giant castle made of multicolored crystal. He marveled at it for just over 3 seconds before making his way toward it in a leisurely fashion, so as not to draw too much attention to himself. Unfortunately, his attempt at stealth failed when he was stopped by what was literally the strangest thing he had ever seen. A pink pony with a puffy mane and tail had bounced -yes, bounced- up to him and was now in his face, hitting him with such a barrage of questions that he wondered if she ever felt the need to breathe. "Hello, and welcome to Equestria! What's your name? My name's Pinkie Pie! I work at Sugar Cube Corner. You should really come by sometime and try the cakes! It's right...over...there!" The barrage of questions and statements finally ended with the pony, now named Pinkie Pie, pointing of into the distance towards a cake shop she called "Sugar Cube Corner". Prince shook his head to clear out his confusion at the strange pony's actions and smiled at her. "Hello Ms. Pinkie Pie. My name is Prince Wild. You said this place was called Equestria?" Pinkie had a look of shock on her face that could rival the most experienced of actors. "Wow! You're a prince! I can't believe it! I need to go tell Twilight! She's the Princess of Friendship you know. I'm sure she'll be super happy to know that someone like her -royalty I mean- is here!" "Wait a minute, Ms. Pie.-" "You cane just call me Pinkie. All my friends do!" "Very well, Pinkie. I am not royalty. Prince is my name, not my title." Pinkie visibly deflated. "So...you're not royalty?" "I'm sorry to say I am not." "Oh..." Then, her cheery demeanor returned immediately. "Oh well! I should still take you to see Twilight. Then she can take you to see Princess Celestia and Princess Luna! I'm sure they'd love to meet you! Come on let's go!" With that, the peppy pink pony led him the rest of the way to the castle. It wasn't how he was expecting this day to go, but he still made it to where he wanted to be. And, he made a friend. It was a good day, all things considered.
