A Day in Glacial's Life

Glacials home, one year earlier

Glacial lay sighing on her couch. Winter wrap up was done and a year of solitude lay before her. She  Wasn't upset though. it had been like this ever since she was a foal, she just wasn't good at making friends. In her mind, the other fillies had just been trying to embarrass her with their small gestures of kindness, so she shut herself away. The only time she acted like a member of the community was during the winter wrap up. Now that it was over, nopony would talk to her. it wasn't like Glacial was unfriendly.. In fact, she was one of the nicest ponies around! she just wasn't a... ponies pony. Other ponies tried to talk to her, but they were greeted with unemotional mmhm's and uhhuh's so they gave up.

But today would be different.

As she got up from her cloud couch there was a quick knocking at the door... or what could be considered a door. "nopony knocks at my door..." Glacial walked over and opened it. There was a flash of blue and yellow, and suddenly she was suspended in the air by.. was that Rainbowdash and Fluttershy? She almost smiled. These ponies were her pegasus idols! Rainbow's speed and coolness! Fluttershy's caring compassion! Why were they pulling her through the sky? "Hey what are you guys doing?" She said defiantly. "i can fly on my own!" Rainbow looked at her and smirked.

"but would you come with us if we let you go?"

"probably not." she admitted.

They flew her from her cloud home in the outskirts of Ponyville to the very heart of it; Sugar cube corner. Her mouth started watering , for she could smell the sweets baking in the ovens. Rainbow forced her through the door, where Pinkie, Twilight, Applejack, Rarity, and Spike were waiting.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!"

Glacial stood there, shocked. She had never ever told anypony when her birthday was! Gaping she managed "H.. How?" Twilight smiled widely. "i have my connections." RainbowDash hit Glacial on her shoulder playfully. "an athletic pony like must need someone to race with!" The grins were shared with everypony in the room. Except for Glacial. Her eyes were moistening with the tears about to spill over. Sure, she was quiet and abandoned,  she knew that. But what she never had ever described herself as was... Lonely. And yet, it was the perfect word to describe her. The other ponies were moving in to comfort her. "do you not like the party?" Pinkie asked, sounding a little deflated. "no.. its just.." Glacial sobbed. "I never knew i could love something like this.... That i could have friends." She looked up hopefully. they were all smiling softly. Rarity patted her on the head "you do now sweetie. you do now."

As the year went on the friendship steadily grew. Glacial re-decorated her house, so it wasn't a miserable grey shamble. She started going to the spa with Rarity and Fluttershy (grudgingly) and spent an hour racing with rainbow. She helped Big Mac and Applejack apples to the farm, and checked out a new book from twilight everyday. She helped Pinkie bake and Derpy deliver the baked goods. the people of ponyville were starting to warm her frozen heart.
