I heard her say stop but I was far too close to completing the spell. This spell was taking a toll, it hurt but I pushed through and in a flash everything went dark. I opened my eyes to a sight of confusion… I wasn’t dead but I didn’t feel alive. I wasn’t on ground but I knew I wasn’t falling. He was taller than Celestia. Horn sharper and longer than Celestia and a few inches longer on wing span. He held his wings close to his body. He looked down with a smile not sinister or smug just one with the world. “Where are we?” I was confused and blown away by his form, the stature he held and the professionalism that could battle Celestia’s any day… He was relaxed and calm though I heard a twinge of fear in his voice. I watched the funeral… we walked closer to a vague 'wall' right in front of us stood a large image of the Canterlot city. In shambles bloody bodies and limbs. We walked down the ‘hall’ flashes came up but unlike the ones before they didn’t stay… they vanished within seconds. “Why don’t these images stay?” “Because this is the future wing we have just walked your past and you walked through the picture of your present this is the future… Your future like most in equestria at this point isn’t set it was until the war but now time and the future have no idea what’s going to happen so now it’s looking for answers… You see if this wasn’t happening these pictures would form lines of path and paths from them and so on when you pick a path for your future the ones that don’t connect to that pacific future they fade and new ones replace them. When we reach the end of this wing we will see your result and go on to the next stage there is only 2 more stages from this wing. When we have completed them we will walk back through. When we do, this wing will look a lot different.” We eventually reached the arch. Darkice stopped and touched his horn to the arch he then looked at me with a smile and walked in the smallish room… I followed… nervous… “This is the resulting chamber… This is where I give you back any information the present scan found… you have seen your past and your very uncertain future. All these colours danced across the ‘celling’ and bounced of the ‘walls’ and ‘floor’ it was so pretty. “Okay so you have passed the test and the time has come to give you what you need… Power. But I’m not just going to adorn you with Power but I will give you a way to restore your equestria. Please don’t go all power crazy like Sombra did you have morals and you are better than that…” “Yes, Darkice.” “Good so now I will grant you will the highest level of power and the status that goes with it… Shining Armor you at the end of this stage will have the power to save equestria and become its new rule. I’m granting you Alicornhood… I will give you wings and the power that goes with it then I will give you the knowledge and guidance you need to control it. I will then perform your Punishment and we will walk out of here to where I first saw you. Do you understand?” I was shocked I don't know if it was the fact that I had completed it or the fact I was being rewarded… after what felt like hours my mouth finally formed words. “Yes. Darkice I understand and I’m ready to do it…” “Good, here…” With a flash of his horn I was lifted into the air as the world turned blue. I felt all tingly and a little pain as muscles on my back started to grow and bones snapped into position. I was then place back to the ‘floor’ I felt dizzy but I felt good as well. “You okay?” “Y YE YES I’m fine…” I said a bit uneasy “Good now spread your new wings let’s check they work.” I looked at my sides and yes 2 big white wings had grown fluffy and soft. Along with that my legs where longer I realised this when I looked to Darkice I was his height maybe a few inches shorter but I would be taller than Celestia. My horn much longer and sharper was also strange and I would have to be careful not to hurt someone with it! I spread my wings bones cracking and muscles moving slowly at first. I opened and closed as instructed. “Now let’s try hovering. You need to know all of this now otherwise you will be useless in a fight.” It took a few attempts but I got it I hovered for about 3 minutes before landing with grace as did Darkice. “Now for spells you know the fighting spells so I don’t have to teach you that. Thankfully! The only difference is the power level so its higher you can shoot longer and will easily out match any unicorn… When you get back to the library take a look through as many books as possible and if you want practise just ask me and I will bring you here… I would do it with you now but your sister will be getting worried. Shoot a few spells at me and try out a little just to get a feel for it as we don’t want you blowing up Canterlot even more!” I shot a few spells and blocked some as well my magic was faster and a lot more accurate I loved it! “Okay fun and games aside as you is quite a quick learner. Your punishment… This will not hurt its just affect more than anything. DO NOT BLOCK MY SPELL!” I might have been as powerful as him but the shear force that he spoke and the authority scared the fucking shit out of me… I wasn’t stopping him from performing what was right. He trusted me it seemed and I trusted him. He shot 2 spells at me one at my wings and one at my eyes. The then magically gave me a mirror my eyes had the smoke you see today and my wings faded from white to a dark blue. “I like the wing affect but won’t ponies find me scary like this?” “If they trust you to save them then the look will not matter and they should be right to partially fear you your very powerful… now let’s get back…” We flew all the way back. Me having to stop every 5 minutes and land because I wasn’t used to the durability but Darkice knew this. We flew through the future wing and paths started to form it was cool how my life was being sorted out… we made it make to the beginning where I first met Darkice… “Oh almost forgot I have a present for you…” Before I could ask what I heard her… “Shining?” “Cadence!!!” I was shocked, happy and relieved… “Hey honey, I know it's hard. I know you love me and I’m sorry to have to place our foals on you and you alone. You’re doing great and I love the new look.” She nuzzled into me tiny as can be. That spell will make Celestia’s and Luna’s talents go to you. This will allow you to move the sun and the moon the same way they do… remember if you need my guidance just ask the book and don’t worry I will tell twilight what happened before you awake in the library.” He embraced me, my neck instinctively tucking under his. “You will do just fine… I’m always here.” //-------------------------------------------------------// The Training //-------------------------------------------------------// The Training I awoke in the library Twilight looking at me fearful. “Princess he is fine I assure you he passed.” I stood up and that’s when I revelled them she looked on with amusement… “You have wings… we can fly together now!” “Yes Twi we can but first…” before I could finish we heard a bang outside rushing to the window we saw both princesses shattering the windows near my chambers “My foals!” “Mum! Dad!” Grabbing the book I blew a hole into the library wall destroying a few shelfs and scaring the librarian. I then took flight without a though flying straight for my chambers. Twilight following suit. “You’re a natural!” “No just practise while with Darkice…” Flying straight for my chambers I shot a beam and destroyed the room next to my chambers we flew in and landed. We both ran out of the destroyed room and to my chambers… I unlocked the doors. Again clever foals for using the family lock… “Come on we need to go! NOW!” I screamed twilight grabbing our parents in her magic and me grabbing you. Twilight out the room we came in you fly Mum and Dad I will deal with my foals.” “Got it!” Mum and Dad looked at me strange but when we heard another smash ran with Twi. I grabbed you and took of again out of the destroyed room your siblings taking flight straight after… “Twi to the library. We need a plan and I need practise!” Landing in the library I opened the book scrolling through as my mother, father and your siblings looked at me confused. “Darkice what was that spell those changes a talent?” “Here shine its here…” The book hovered again flicking through until it came to the spell… “It’s permanent?” “Only to dead ponies you take the talent from… Banished you can give it back if need be but otherwise it permanent…” after watching me dad spoke up… “Son, what are you doing and why do you look like that…?” “Twi can you explain and tell him exactly what Darkice said while I get Darkice to help me?” “Okay… but how?” “Darkice will take me back to where I went before, I need to practise if I have any chance of beating those lunatics and don’t worry I will place a shield on this library so they can’t get it and it will be unbreakable as I can reinforce it in the other world…” “Got it.” I called to Darkice and gave each of my foals a hug I placed the shield up and everything went black. “I wasn’t expecting you back that quick…” Darkice said as he walked with purpose towards me. He wrapped his wing around my back I did the same back tucking my neck neatly under his taking the embrace in. I enjoyed this hug it showed he cared he wasn’t just some dead evil essence. He cared greatly for the creatures great and small who walked the world he once did. We a parted and he walked away in a direction I had never seen. It looked the same but there was no arch. He gestured with his wing to follow immediately returning them to his sides. I did following close next to him but my wings stretched wide. I was proud of my wings. I had always wanted a pair and I could now finally experience flight like my foals and the rest of my family apart from my parents. “I didn’t expect the 2 lunatics to come looking for us! I guess after killing 2 elements now they want the rest! And there still fighting each other in the process its madness!” “Well we better make good use of your time here I know your shield is powerful but you can only hold them off for so long and can only stay here for a short time at a time.” We walled though an arch and into an arena. “This is where the next hour to 1 ½ of your time will be spent. But for now you need to work on your flying.” The whole time we were there I was chasing him around the arena. Tackling him to the ground from the air. Taking off quickly and landing soft and quick. We raced until I was faster than him. I took off faster than him. I even managed to beat him with the tackles over and over. “Final test! Make me surrender!” “YE- OW!” My head suddenly felt like it was splitting in half. “Th…e Shileddd.” I summoned all my power my vison going blue. I poured every little piece of magic into casting the shield. Once done I collapsed. “You okay?” Darkice voice filled with worry and concern. “Yeah the shield nearly fell I have to get back there NOW!” “Of course we don’t have to walk back I can cast it here I will see you in the library.” I open my eyes to the library entrance and exit being battered in. Both princesses heading for the shield I added the power needed and protected us from the blows. I then grabbed every spell book with in my sight and teleported us all out of there. We arrived in the small cottage me and cadence had for our honeymoon. With the changeling attack we didn’t leave Canterlot. The cottage was right on the cliff side looking out of the window the river the waterfall was running from ran right though the garden with a little bridge going over now there was bodies and limbs over it. I let everyone get their bearings and told them the plan. I would have like that final test that Darkice was going to give me but I had him with us so it should be okay... I would need Twilight and twilight alone. Everyone else was to stay here… My mother and father were going to look after you 3. Twilight and I went to deal with this. Twilight would distract and try to take down one of the sisters while I banished the other… I wanted to kill them but then again I wanted to know my they would do this! As the last 2 remaining royal family we decided together that they were to be banished. We said goodbye to our loved ones, I grabbed Darkice's book and flew out of the cottage into the heart of Canterlot to end this horrible chapter in equestrian history! //-------------------------------------------------------// Battle & Banishment //-------------------------------------------------------// Battle & Banishment As we flew into the city we landed in the middle of what would have been upper Canterlot’s city square. Bodies littered the ground and everything was abandoned anypony who was roaming the city streets was either guards or soldiers. Every pony else had either got out of the city or had barricaded themselves inside. A crow landed near a dead pony and a blast form Luna’s horn exploded it into nothing. She landed where the crow had been. She hadn’t seen us but a little filly. The poor filly was looking out of the window in fear. We both landed in an ally and saw Luna smash the front window to the house that had a sign of a sun in the front garden. I heard the little filly scream and run out of the house as Luna broke through the wall to get her. She screamed running down the garden path. She reached the path to the road and froze still as I came out of the shadows. I watched as Luna stared at me. She then gave a sadistic grin to the filly. The filly looked from me to the Luna. Twilight came up to my side and the filly ran to Twilly hooves. Watching Luna I bent my head down to nuzzle the filly. Twilight comforted her. Luna then turned to the sound of the fillies mothers' screams. I watched as in mille-seconds she was blown to pieces. The filly cried I was seething with anger. I charged at Luna spreading her wings she took off and I followed suit. She looked behind and looked at me with amazement. She stopped and turned. “Thy nephew is an alicorn now? Did that Sun Butt git do this to get you on her side?” “No you raging lunatic! I did this for equestria.” “You can’t turn yourself Shining.” celestia suddenly appeared and stared daggers at me. “He didn’t Celestia!” The Book floated as Darkice spoke. “I did. He passed the test!” “Never!” Both screamed in unison and then both dived for me. Flying off a full speed the book followed I grabbed the book as I saw Darkice flipping the pages. “DARKICE I NEED YOUR HELP!” “Use this spell Shine.” I scanned it turned and shot it at both. It stunned both of them but they was quick to recover. As they recovered they both looked at me and then started to fight each other. Twilight came up to my side… “Nice spell and good work at distracting them!” “Thanks Darkice and they started to fight themselves sis. I only stunned them!” “Okay so we need to get you alone with one of them… also I gave the filly to the next door neighbour who took down her sign when you chased Luna.” “Nice work sis and yeah we need to get them separated as much as I just would like to give them each a knife and tell them to kill each other….” “SHINE!” “Hey it was more of a joke!” “Okay so deal with Celestia first and I will distract Luna.” “Sounds good love ya sis and be careful.” “Love ya too BBFFF.” We both split going opposite ways to the two raging sisters. “Hey SUN BUTT GET HERE NOW!” “Hey Luna I’m Princess Celestia’s successful student. I bet she loves me more than you!” Both taunts worked Luna went for twilight and Celestia came for me. I flew off in a flash allowing her to chase me. I needed to get her as far away as possible so Luna didn’t see me banish Celestia if either saw it coming they would just work together to kill us and then continue the fight again. Once I got Celestia away and near the castle, I stopped and shot the stun spell again she stopped and then landed to recover I hovered above watching her closely. I needed to paralyse her so she wouldn’t fight so I could drain her power and take her talent before banishing her… She looked up angry as all hell. She looked still as if she couldn’t move but I wasn’t being fooled. I shot a second spell she dodged and then shot back I moved to avoid it and hit her wing with another shot. She screamed and held me in her magic. She pulled me closer eyes white with hatred. Panicking I didn’t aim straight, I shot a spell at her head aiming for her horn and she let go falling to the ground. Completely stunned and holding her head. I landed near her and shot a spell at her wings gluing her wings to her body disabling her flight. I went to aim at her horn. When she griped my throat struggling I cast a spell at the book. The pages turning as Darkice tried to find a spell strong enough not to kill her but to disable her and stop her from chocking me to death. She pulled me close to the ground standing up. She shock her mane and walked slowly towards me. I thought I was going to die until Darkice stopped turning. “Use this one!” I aimed at her body as that’s all I could roughly make out I was starting to lose consciousness and shot the spell at her. Her grip faded and I could breath. I caught my breath and disabled her magic and bound her to the ground. I took a deep breath. She opened her eyes and struggled. I looked down at her and a tear ran down my face. My ruler. My leader. The pony that I trusted. My auntie. The mare I had a crush on for a while. Everything she had comforted me, she had lead me into battle. I had protected her. It was my duty to serve her. Now it was my duty to strip her of her power and banish her to the sun… I hated that I had to do this everything felt wrong. I took another deep breath, looked her in the eyes and conjured all my hate in the world all my fear. I was channelling so much pure hatred into this spell, my vision went blue. Crying I cast the spell she screamed as I ripped all her power from her and her cutiemark faded. Unlike Cadence Darkice was soft and gentle as she was willing. With the sisters they didn’t want to give up their power so it hurt them a lot. I felt the power flow within me as I finished the spell. When I didn’t answer she screamed. She went all crazy again so with tears still falling I conjured the banishment spell and with a hell of a lot of hatred and hurt running through my body I shot the spell at Celestia hearing 1 more Blood curling scream ripping through her throat. In a flash she was gone… I looked up to the big and bright yellow sun and there in the sun was the outline of a pony I had seen in the moon only a few years earlier. I picked up my thoughts. I composed myself as took off in the direction of and explosion. I saw Luna and Twilly battling hard blasting this way and that building collapsing. I moved swooping under the falling building narrowly missing it as I flicked through the book. Luna hadn’t seen me yet so I channelled all my hate into a stun spell shooting it straight a Luna it hit her and she fell to the ground. Twilly secured her horn so she couldn’t fire but before either of us could get her wings she took off in a flash in a straight line, she flew fast struggling as she did trying in vain to get the spell of her horn. I and Twilly flew after shooting beam after beam. Our beams collided hitting buildings; we had to dodge our own shots. We were forced to dodge each rock from the falling debris. She dodged all our shots and flew straight down following the waterfall straight off Canterlot mountain. I allowed myself to fall I needed to let the wind and gravity take me coming right behind Luna she looked back to swoop up and over me so she was chasing me and twilight was chasing her I took a sharp turn as she kept trying to get the spell off her horn, she followed I did twists, turns. I flew up and down slowing Luna down slowly allowing twilight to catch up. Once she had caught up a bit I looked back nodded. I turned sharp flying straight for Luna she quickly turned trying to get away she ran into Twilly she was forced to fly down and as she did, I shot the crystal spell at her. She became a rock falling through the air heading straight for the city road below just before she hit the ground I held the crystal in my magic she was fearful to say the least. Twilly secured her, once secured I took the crystal spell off, as I started the spell to take her talent. When I was ready to cast the spell Luna started to plead. I didn’t take a second thought as I blasted her with the spell I saw Twilly flinch as Luna screamed. I watched as her cutiemark faded I had been far too into the spell to realise how it faded but this time I cast the spell it didn’t seem as hard the second time. With our help the castle was replace within a few days and the rest of the city had cleared the town of rubble. With the castle done the city was next. Home and street cleared of concreate, wood and stone. We replace the homes as many as we could and restore the city for what it was. We had a lot of rubbish and hundreds upon hundreds of bodies. About a week later once the city was deemed safe me and Twilly took a carriage around equestria telling them what had happened and that they was welcome at the bottom of Canterlot mountain that night for a final farewell. That night I stood holding a board writing each and everyponies name down as the bodies were counted and piled up. The rubbish was the base and the bodies were place on top. By the Canterlot waterfall looked so lovely at dust, as I set the sun Twilight spoke. “Tonight we honour all the lives we lost because of the 2 royal goddesses that turned into tyrants. Let it be known that they can be remembered as lovely rulers but in the end cannot be forgiven for the crime that they have committed. We set the sun on this horrible chapter in equestria history and are reminded that our loved ones rest in peace in a better place.” As twilight ended I landed next to her and lit the bonfire. After all homes where completed and the court was settled. I was coroneted. It was about 2 weeks after the burning but the court had my title down as acting king. That way if anyone looked in on equestria, they would know we as a kingdom still had balance and was under rule even in difficult times. The coronation was simple. I was helped by the advisors to work out the foreign dignitaries guest list and who I needed to make trade routes with for equestria again. I had to reline all trade routes, alliances and kingdoms as when the ruler of a leading nations trades hooves by force. Those who had a previous alliance can’t necessarily trust the new ruler. It doesn’t help that I had never met any of these ponies before… In the crystal empire Cadence handled all that while I handled safety and boarders. Of course Celestia was the one to sort out all of it for equestria. The coronation went smoothly all were present and counted for on the guest list including you 3, Twilly, my parents and many other I knew at the time. Once crowned I took my walk around the crowds and spoke to many. 2 advisors stayed close to write down appointments and dates for the foreign dignitaries to visit. This was to discuss in further detail our alliance and other topics. Once I was crowned and all celebrations had ended it all went quite well of course we could have done with our Load triek escaping again but now he isn’t around anymore….
