What are the chances?

Ponyville shimmered beautifully as usual, the energy of the excited citizens creating a wonder-land of amazing positivity. As the sun awoke, so did the ponies of Ponyville, some hummed, some flew, some read and some worked, but for twilight sparkle, it was just more sleep... Twilight had once again been managing discord and watching over him, making sure he behaved whilst celestia tended to peace negotiations with nearby lands and fluttershy was on safari, trying to keep the famed and endangered 'Saddle Arabian Bandisnatch' in safe hooves, because of their absence the most responsible pony was indeed Twilight Sparkle. Discord hadn't given Twi a break all week, bouncing off the walls, screwing with the royal library and muddling up the shelves; it was all so exhausting! twilight was pleased she finally got a full night sleep but noticed... she was a little too pleased... discord didn’t disturb her all night... it appeared as if he had just vanished, despite the still chaotic sense of impending doom that surrounded her, which she had gotten used to by now.

As she finally grew the nerve to give in to celestia's blinding light, she was struck as she noticed discord lying on the old tree, which was now a chandelier, in the harmony room, where the elements would all gather. He was peacefully reading a note he had received with a smile, warmer than it was maniacal. As the Draconequus read twilight began to preach to the tree, poking her head as far up as she could "Discord? What are you doing up there??? Are you reading my mail!?" she yelled as he shook his head and sighed grinning "Twilight dear, of course I’m not reading your mail" he chuckled all the way through then went straight faced continuing to read "I already read it, its down there" he pointed down... or up - or... he pointed to the table in the middle of the room which had her scrappily torn open mail on it.

discord looked very perky for some reason... the letter he had was addressed to him but it didn’t look like anything from this world, the stamp was upside-down and the envelope looked like a moving kaleidoscope of words only a chaotic creature would understand. he took his glasses off and shuffled his letter into his pocket dimension, looking down at the awfully confused and dumb-founded Twilight Sparkle, his chuckling only grew at that primitive expression from such an intelligent pony "wh-whats gotten you so confused Twilight?" she just stared at his grin "y-you're smiling, why are you smiling?! this is never a good sign!!!" he teleported next to her in a poof of smoke making her briefly cough before he wrapped his paw around her "cant an uncle be excited his niece finally has her degree in chaoticified and ridonculous magic?" Twilight looked at him confused "wait a minute..." she carefully analyzed his statement "you never told me you have a niece!?" her shock just pleased discord more "well... she is technically my third cousin... and my sister... and my niece and my uncle... oh but nevermind, draconequus ancestry is an absolute mess...” he rubbed his head in confusion then noticed Twilights stricken face “oh my dear, you can’t possibly think I'M the only draconequus can you?" she scratched her mane and sighed "There’s more!?!? I mean.... o-ooo goodie, there is more of youuu” she tried to look happy about it so that she didn’t offend discord, she knew what he could do after all.

The goats head once again grinned “then I suppose you wouldn’t mind her coming to stay for a few days” he was now smiling manically as Twilights pupils dilated and she gulped “I can’t just gloss over her achievements like that, you know how hard it is to get a degree in magic, surely my dear” he grinned as he stuck around behind her, her pupils shrinking until they were a clear metaphor for how uncomfortable she was about TWO draconequus in her castle “besides my dear... she is only the spirit of chance, what could go wrong? Right?” Twilight optimistically nodded “y-yeah! What could go wrong?” she smiled as he walked around her “she’s already terrorized her first village! Im so proud...” his eyes glowed and glistened a few tears of joy escaping them as he showed Twi the picture of the burning buildings and screaming ponies she sent him with a smile, wiping a single droplet of water from his eye “look at how beautiful it is... they grow up so fast...” he blew into a handkerchief he made appear from thin air

“Discord, I hope you realize I’d have to banish her for this!!!” discord sighed “you can’t banish her for nature my dear, without chance, a lot of things every pony did would get boring, the chance a hit song would come out, the chance a game would be good or bad, the chance to find a bit on the trail; all of it would be gone! Chance is destructive as well as resourceful, there is a chance a volcano could erupt right now, or a chance that, since Im here, you could turn blue at any given moment, you can’t remove chance Twilight! Just like you can’t remove me, you can’t have chaos without order and vice versa, just how you can’t have fun without chance” twilight lets her head hang low “she better not do anything like that here.... or I won’t be taking chances” she says and sighs, Discord responding with “take a chance Twi... what could possibly go wrong?” he curves his lip as his eyelids slant inwards.
