Princess Luna X Patchwork One-Shot
It's been two years now, since i lost her... my first marefriend... one of the first ponies to care about me, for me… not for my title...
We were attending a convention, the same one where we first met, and decided to head back to our room, because she was getting tired. On the way there, she stumbled, so i had to help her to our room... I knew she had been sick for a while and i knew it was bad... that's why i took her to the convention.
We both went to sleep, like normal. Followed the same nightly routine. But halfway through the night...
That's when it happened...
About halfway through the night, i woke up to use the bathroom, only to find her kneeling in front of the toilet, coughing. She looked over at me, trembling, her coat damp from sweat, her wings limp, and eyes wide with fear.
I will never forget that moment... that's when i knew... that's when i knew how bad it was...
I called security and then stayed by her side, holding her close to me, brushing her mane from her face, doing my best to comfort her…
When the ambulance arrived, i refused to leave her side. I didn't want to ever let go of her. Even when she crashed, i stayed. The nurses had to sedate me just so they could get her hooked up to life support. Inside i was breaking… i was torn up… i was begging and pleading inside, for her not to die… for her to stay with me…
Even my magic couldn't save her...
I was gonna propose to her, in front of the crowd tomorrow… but instead, i had to make the hardest decision of my life… even though it tore me up inside, i turned off life support, as i knew she would want me to…
Now, i sit in front of her grave stone, as i have every friday, for the past three years. I tell her about my relationship fails, how my week had gone, what i learned and even what anime i had watched, and even the process of Patchwork’s recovery. Sometimes, i even imagine having a conversation with her.
Today though, is kinda different. I have finally brought my new marefriend with me, a sweet mare named Patchwork. She's different, in a way i can't explain, both in personality, and her looks, and we are both still recovering from her near death, but i know she's strong...
Something that really touched me, in a good way, was that she plopped down next to me, and started talking to the headstone, like i would…
These words especially. I was looking around at all of the different heros, all the different headstones and monuments when i heard Patchwork say this…
“i know i can't ever replace you Aulia… but i will do my best to take care of her… And i will make sure no one ever forgets you… i promise…”
I may have lost Aulia. I may have forever lost a piece of my heart that fateful day. But i found love again, and though Patchwork won't replace my flower, i know she will be around for a long time.
I walk up to my unique marefriend and lean down, nuzzling her softly “ready to go home, my quilted mare?”
I smile as she nods, and drape a wing over her, leading her home. She may be made of many ponies, but to me, she is one special mare.
