Reassurance
The Talk
Load Full StoryOne day Twilight was in her room reading one of her books when her door was knocked on. She grunted as she wanted to be alone. When she opened it she was greeted by Rarity. She wondered why Rarity was at her place. She groaned silently. She greeted her friend.
"Hi Rarity. What do you need?" Twilight asked her friend as she was unsure why Rarity was there. She didn't mind Rarity being there but she was annoyed and tired. She then thought of the possibility of Rarity closing her store for the day so she decided to listen to find out.
"I just wanted to see you." Rarity said nicely. Twilight allowed her to come in. Twilight closed the door as Rarity sat down. Twilight sighed as her friend and sat down as well. They both got comfortable in their seats which were cushioned. Rarity spoke to Twilight.
"How are you doing?" Rarity asked. Twilight wondered if Rarity was missing work at Carousal Boutique as her business was always busy with customers. She asked Rarity about it as she was curious of how Rarity can get breaks as it was never closed just like how Twilights library was never closed.
"Don't you have work to do at Carousal Boutique or did you close it?" Twilight asked. Rarity shrugged and got up and fixed herself a drink then took out one of Twilights books of fashion and sat back down again. Twilight watched her.
"I closed it. I don't care if ponies need orders they can come to my place the next day I'll be open. Besides I wanted to hang out with you instead of working all day. I deserve the day off and it's not like somepony is going to be disappointed they can wait can't they?" Rarity asked. Twilight nodded.
"Yeah they can. How is the business anyway?" Twilight asked Rarity out of curiosity as she wanted to know how her friend was doing with Carousal Boutique and how much money it was earning. Rarity shrugged not really minding how it was doing as she wanted to just spend time with her friends.
"It's doing fine. I'm filling a lot of orders and earning enough to buy myself things and support myself and Sweetie Belle. But I don't have to fill any orders now because I closed it because I can." Rarity simply responded. Twilight shrugged and responded as her question was answered.
"Alright. Thanks for telling me." Twilight told her friend grateful that her friend could fill her in on the details on her work at her own business at Carousal Boutique. She got up and fixed herself some tea and sipped it while sitting back down again. She looked at Rarity calmly.
"How's Spike doing?" Rarity asked. Twilight knew that Rarity was going to ask about Spike. She always asks about Spike so it wasn't surprising that Rarity would ask her about Spike. She responded as she sighed.
"He's fine. He just went out I'm sure he'll be back though. He just wanted to get something so I let him. Gives me a break you know. Twilight responded. Rarity nodded at Twilight and spoke.
"Good to here. How are you doing?" Rarity asked. Twilight groaned as she didn't want to tell Rarity her problems. She wished that Rarity wasn't so nosy. It annoyed her to no end as she asked Twilight that from time to time.
"Why do you ask that?" Twilight asked. Rarity flinched a little but the tone of Twilights voice as she wasn't expecting Twilight to answer her question about Twilights well being like that as she thought Twilight would be more happier that she asked that but instead she was annoyed.
"Because your my friend and I want to make sure you are okay. Is that okay to ask you that. You sound upset from that." She said wondering what Twilights response about her tone would be. Twilight rolled her eyes.
"I'm fine!" Twilight said a little to rough. Rarity flinched from Twilights tone. She answered carefully in a slow and surprised tone of voice to Twilights angered answer. Rarity carefully worded her response as she didn't want to get Twilight more upset. She wanted to know what was bothering Twilight though. She spoke gently.
"Twilight? What's wrong? You seem very upset. I'm your friend and I'm worried by your behavior." Rarity said. Twilight sighed and told the truth.
"I'm just upset at myself because I'm a bad pony." Twilight said. Rarity was shocked at what Twilight called herself that. She spoke.
"Why are you saying that about yourself?!" Rarity asked concerned for her friend. Twilight was silent and then spoke while on the verge of tears.
"Because I let everypony down when they expect something of me. I let everypony down while trying to save the Crystal Empire. I'm an OCD control freak and I treat my friends like crap. I'm a terrible pony." Twilight said. Rarity couldn't take hearing her friend speak falsely bad about herself so she went over to her and put her hold on Twilights shoulder and started to reassure her friend.
"No! Your not a bad pony Twilight! Don't ever say that about yourself you are not bad!" Rarity said in a strong tone of voice reassuring Twilight. Twilight started to cry.
"But I am bad!!" Twilight said with tears in her eyes. Rarity shook her head and spoke to Twilight quickly.
"No! You are not bad Twilight! You are the sweetest pony aside from Fluttershy. Stop putting yourself down with false negative statements!" Rarity told Twilight. Twilight sobbed and spoke.
"I let everypony down. I'm a terrible pony! I don't care about others!" Twilight cried. Rarity shook her head denying that statement as it was not true.
"No your not! You are not bad! You do care about everypony! How can you not care when you make sure to solve every friendship problem whenever a pony has one? You care about your friends you never let anypony down! Try telling me one example of you letting somepony down and you won't find one. You are not bad Twilight!" Rarity said sternly.
"I'm...not...bad?" Twilight asked. Rarity shook her head.
"No your not. I can't think of one example of you letting somepony down! You are not bad!" Rarity said again making sure Twilight knew it.
"I'm not bad?" Twilight asked. Rarity shook her head and spoke to her friend once again to make sure twilight got it.
"Your not bad!" Rarity said. Twilight hugged her and Rarity returned the hug and kissed Twilight on the cheek. She wanted to ask Twilight to make sure that Twilight didn't think she was bad. She wondered why Twilight would think such a thing. They both hugged for a few more minutes and pulled away
"So Twilight? Are you a bad pony?" Rarity asked to make sure Twilight knew she wasn't. Twilight spoke.
"No Rarity....I'm...not a bad pony..." Twilight said unsure. Rarity knew that wouldent do so she spoke.
"No your not bad! You are not a bad pony! Your not a bad pony!" Rarity said to her friend hugging her.
"I'm not a bad pony?" Twilight asked.
"No you are not a bad pony!" Rarity said. Twilight was silent for a few minutes and spoke. Rarity kept hugging her.
"I'm not a bad pony." Twilight said speaking of herself. Rarity nodded.
"That's right! Your not a bad pony!" Rarity said as she rubbed Twilights back while hugging her. She let go of the hug.
"So Twilight are you bad pony?" Rarity asked her to make sure Twilight knew it. Twilight responded.
"No I'm not a bad pony." Twilight said. Rarity nodded and spoke.
"That's right!" Rarity said. Twilight smiled at Rarity.
"Thanks Rarity!" Twilight said. Rarity nodded and ruffled Twilights hair. They both hung out after that as Rarity wanted to put Twilight at ease. They read books and talked and soon Twilight was happy. After awhile they continued to just hang out and talk and after that Rarity got up to leave.
"Bye Twilight!" Rarity said as she left. Twilight waved goodbye and Rarity left hoping Twilight wouldn't think that of herself again as she was not a bad pony. When Rarity left Twilight felt better about herself and knew that she was not a bad pony.
