The frost was ubiquitous, lining the trees and the rocks and the grass beneath the great walls of Hollow Shades.
The mist weaved between the pines like cotton gauze, and the snow strangled out any sound, silencing it before it could travel very far.
Mythic Lilly manned her station, unmoving, a silent, sultry guard in the night.
She watched her breath add to the fog around her, and liked to think she heard crystallized bits of it fall into the snow at her hooves.
She was supposed to be watching for potential foes, threats to the isolated town of her kind.
But no threats save the occasional wolf had been seen for decades. She, instead, was planning on something else.
She may have appeared calm at that deep hour in the night, content to do her job, leaning on her electrified spear, her dark violet armor showing the moon to all those who may have gazed upon it, but inside was a different story.
Her heart fluttered, her breath, while deep, was strained and, damnit all, there was a slight blush hiding beneath her fur.
Her ears zeroed in on any sound or movement.
Not this time. . . ., she thought to herself.
Yes this time, the universe thought back at her.
There was a thud and a crack and suddenly she was on the floor, the cold of the stone and snow seeping into her.
"Astral Paths you asshole!" she rasped.
An infuriatingly smug grin flashed back at her.
"That's me!"
Her instincts told her that they were being too loud, and they probably were, but she was the only guard on duty on that entire wall that night, and the closest house lay several hundred meters away.
The fortifications of Hollow Shades spoke of a much more chaotic time, where sieges were commonplace, and war a part of life.
But now the moat was frozen over; the trenches without spikes; and the walls, sparsely guarded.
Perfect for a bat pony planning on doing something utterly against the rules.
Astral, with effort, got off his lover, and proceeded to sit on his haunches, grinning like an idiot.
"You're not that sneaky," Mythic said.
"Oh? Then how have I been able to surprise you, a stealthy bat guard of the grand city of Hollow Shades, so many times?"
". . . I let you."
Astral only continued to grin.
He knooows! . . . bastard.
Said bastard looked to the left, then to the right. Then he looks up, then down over the wall.
And before she knew it, Mythic is pinned again.
The ensuing mix of frustration and excitement causes Mythic a fair amount of self-loathing.
"I don't mean to be pushy, but I only have a certain amount of time. . . ."
"Pah, you? What, pray tell, does Astral Paths have to do at this hour?"
"You."
"And then?"
"Another two or three succulent creatures waiting up for me."
Mythic shook her head.
"Get off me," she said, pushing him off with a deft hoof.
His body made a satisfying thud as it landed, and before he could be up again, she placed an opposite hoof onto hit chest.
"I'm starting this time."
Astral's grin turned into a smirk, and then he reclined, seemingly content with the snow up his spine.
Mythic ignoring her growing flush, took her hoof off him and slid down his body.
His member, surprise surprise, was already unsheathed, and a drop of precum sat upon it.

Mythic lowered her head and briskly licked it away, her forked tongue darting.
Astral tensed.
It was Mythic's turn to smirk.

The sound of it echoing in the night made Astral want to go again.

"You usually last longer," Mythic said, trying not very hard at all to conceal her smugness.
Astral worked his jaw. He had to admit; she liked it when she was in charge.
Only to himself, though.

Mythic was silent. But she smirked.
She knooows! . . . bitch.
"Maybe we'll just have to do this more often, then."
Mythic winked.
Astral smiled, without a hint of mischievousness.
"I wouldn't mind."
